He Encouraged it Himself
The beatified John Paul II could be named as the patron Saint of liturgical abuses.
(kreuz.net, Vatikan) The beatified John Paul II († 2005) had expressly desired the abuses which were celebrated before him in Pontifical Offices.
This is what the organizer of the abuses and many years Master of Ceremonies, Archbishop Piero Marini (69) wrote in his new book, "IO sono un Papa amabile. Gioanni Paolo II" -- "I am a loveable Pope. John Paul II."
Paolo Rodari reported this on May 7. on his [often excellent] website 'Palazzo Apostolico'
For every trip an actual theater Mass
Rodari reminds of the neo-Conservative theory, where the then Master of Ceremonies, Marini, is supposed to have incited a "spectacle coterminous with the Papal Liturgies" against the will of Pope John Paul II.
This justification is energetically contradicted by Archbishop Marini in his book.
The Conciliar Blessed had encouraged him to insert more cultic heather practices in the Papal Masses -- wrote Msgr Marini.
John Paul II wanted to break through the "rigor" of Papal Masses.
Archbishop Marinini reports that John Paul II wanted a "new Liturgy for every trip".
The Conciliar Blessed is said to have turned to Msgr Marini saying with praise: "beautiful, beautiful."
The Cardinal Found the Legs for Angelic Dancing
Archibishop Marini mentions even a risque moment, which had occurred at a Papal Mass in 1991.
At that time the Archbishop wanted a dance with the Archbishop of San Luis Maranao in North Eastern Brazil, Msgr Paulo Eduardo Andrade Ponte († 2009) during a Papal Mass.
At the announcement of the Gospel two dancers stepped forth, whose robes were blown high by a sudden wind.
After the Mass the Cardinals discussed in the Sacristy if this spectacle was actually necessary.
On that the then president of the Brazilian Bishops Conference, Msgr Luciano Mendez de Almeida († 2006) had answered that he had seen "the angel of the Resurrection" in the two dancers -- so says Msgr Marini.

Vatican to publish advice on guidelines to prevent, respond to abuse
Editor: This is a problem of evil and heresy. It's not a problem you can address with bogus educational programs and sex education. This is still yet another useless attempt to indemnify legally without addressing the well-known substance of the issue that what are called affectively disordered individuals will continue to be ordained and keep their jobs. Cardinal Levada's prominent place in these discussions will assure that. By many accounts, they are swinging at phantoms, since actual claims of abuse are so small when it comes toCatholic Priests.
Society at large, the Government and the entertainment media complex have a lot of housecleaning to do before they go after the Catholic Church.

VATICAN CITY (CNS) -- The Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith has written a circular letter to bishops' conferences around the world on preparing policies and guidelines for dealing with cases of clerical sexual abuse of minors.
The Vatican press office announced May 11 that it would release the text of the letter May 16.
U.S. Cardinal William J. Levada, prefect of the doctrinal congregation, announced in November that his office, which coordinates the church's response to abuse cases, was preparing the document. He said it would help every bishops' conference in the world design a "coordinated and effective program" of child protection and of dealing with allegations

Russian bishop: America has problems with democracy
Editor: If you read between the lines, you can see that he thinks the USA has too much Democracy and needs more Socialism.
Saratov, May 11, Interfax - Head of Patriarchal Dioceses in the USA Archbishop Justinian of Narofominsk believes the USA still has to work hard on its democracy.
"Economic living standards in the US are much higher than those in Russia. Our situation is aggravated by poverty and sometimes unbearable living conditions in the country's regions. At the same time, I wouldn't regard the situation in the United States as ideal," Archbishop Justinian said in an interview published by the Pravoslaviye i Sovremennost (Orthodoxy and Modern Times) magazine of the Saratov Diocese.
According to him, several thousand strong demonstrations may be held in America where people freely express their opinions and protests but "they often receive no response from the Government: "Do you want to speak out? You are welcome, this is America, and we have democracy. But the authorities will continue to pursue their own government policy."
"It is only evident. There are problems here just as in any other state, including problems with relations of nationalities," Archbishop Justinian said.
However, he believes that a true democracy or "to put it better, a true freedom of which we sometimes dream is unfeasible on Earth," as "a true freedom may be only in Christ."

Cardinal Schönborn to Announce "Restructuring" of Vienna Parishes
Now the Church has to be stuffed together, even in Vienna. Even the celebratory vocabulary can't wash away the sad reality.
(kreuz.net) Christoph Cardinal Schönborn of Vienna won't be naming any more priests "till further notice" to parishes.
The was covered by the newspaper 'Die Presse' yesterday in connection to insider information.
The reason for the measure: The pastor has rights against his Bishop, which the latter must respect.
It is primarily through the respect of these rights that priests are protected from the arbitrariness of their Old Liberal Bishops.
In the lead on the way down
This step will prepare the way for the coalescence of 660 parishes and for "new forms of community leadership".
The newspaper calls the measures a "blow for freedom".
"The announcement is the kernel of an unpublished pastoral letter, which will be read in all the churches of the Archdiocese of Vienna" -- says the anti-Church newspaper.
With this the Cardinal is opening the next chapter, "to makes his church fit for the future" -- gushed 'Die Presse' in the high estimation of the leftist Cardinal.
Nowhere else in Austria is the ecclesiastical decline greater than in the Archdiocese of Vienna.
The number of Catholics in the city of Vienna are estimated at about less than forty percent.
The left led Archdiocese is also in the lead for people leaving the Church throughout Austria.
Just before the End
The upcoming measures will lead to the situation where numerous parish churchs are transformed into filial churches.
"All alternations will serve a large number of living communities in their place" -- was the Cardinal's euphemistic way of putting it.
In any wise, he also describes the actual condition of the Diocese, destroyed by Old Liberal officials:
"There are fewer Church members, and even that number who participate in their parish, is even less."
And: "In most parishes children and young people are absent. Our financial and personnel resources are thin."
And with the Old Liberal Ideology in the Future?
Cardinal Schönborn is supposedly to direct the renewal under the motto, "mission first".
For that reason the three last Old Liberal Diocesan Assemblies have been implemented in the Stepensdom.
Actually, the Old Liberal Ideology is the opposite of an outwardly oriented, missionary Church.
They limit themselves to playing solitaire, inner-Church trench warfare and ecclesiastical solipsism.

Pro-Homosexual Republican Legislator Threatens Local Priest
Editor: This provides a clear illustration to support anyone who has to explain why people shouldn't support the right-wing Liberals in the Repugnican Party. The following exchange not only shows an incredible lack of professionalism, but outright hostility to the social issues which put this representative in office in the first place. Representative Kriesel will be hard pressed to keep his seat and may have to do some fancy footwork not to find himself thrown out of the Republican party for such an over display of hostility and rudeness to someone who had supported him in the past, even referring to the priest, Father Echert, a Lt Colonel in the Air National Guard, as "Mr. Echert".
The State Senator is known for his service in Iraq and losing both of his legs in a roadside attack in 2006. If he plans on maintaining a political career, he's going to have to eat some serious crow and get better people working for him who aren't going to create enemies unnecessarily. He's a blue collar guy who should probably have stayed being a blue collar guy. He just alienated himself from most of his constituency.
PASTOR’S CORNER AN INSULT AND A THREAT
Following the lead of the Minnesota bishops, who are united in promoting a state amendment supporting a Marriage Amendment to insure legal recognition is given only to marriages between a man and a woman here in Minnesota, I sent the following email to one of our local state representatives:
Dear Representative Kriesel:
Greetings from Father John Echert, Pastor of the Parishes of Holy Trinity and St. Augustine in South St. Paul. I am writing to you specifically in regards to the proposed Marriage Amendment under consideration here in Minnesota in light of an email exchange which you recently had with my Associate Pastor, Father Robert Grabner. Within your response you wrote, “Unfortunately I do not support the Marriage Amendment and will not be voting for it.” I am very saddened to learn this, especially since I had encouraged one of our parishioners, one of your campaign advocates, to have you come to our parish Fall Festival last October so that parishioners could meet you in the days leading up to the elections. Also, as a military Chaplain here in the Minnesota Air National Guard I have been using you as a heroic example of resiliency in our monthly Yellow Ribbon Program for recently returned deployers.
I ask you to please reconsider your position on this critical matter. While we can legitimately debate issues related to finances and politics, those that are grounded upon basic moral principles and family values are rooted in the laws of God. I am commencing this week with a parish campaign to promote support for a Marriage Amendment in Minnesota; I hope that you will be among those elected officials upon whom we can count for your efforts at the leadership level to protect traditional marriage in our state.
Sincerely, Father John Echert
Sadly, I received back the following response from his office, which is outright insulting (note the use of the title Mr.) and threatening, not to mention the fact that it fails to address the issue:
Representative Kriesel stands by this response and stated that he does not care if this exchange is made public in the parish. Folks, God help us if the day has come when the Church cannot speak out on moral issues. If staffer Tyler or Representative Kriesel has a mind to sic the IRS on me or our parishes here in South St. Paul, they better plan to take on the Archdiocese of St Paul, the Minnesota Catholic Conference, the bishops of Minnesota and the National Conference of Catholic Bishops, for that matter, for our united opposition to abortion and support for the protection of traditional marriage. In fact, on the same day that this email exchange occurred, one of our bishops was addressing the state legislature on this very issue.
PASTOR’S CORNER (continued) Next week I will publish the official text from the
Minnesota Catholic Conference in support of a Marriage Amendment. Meanwhile, if you would like to let Representative John Kriesel know your views on the issue of the protection of marriage and also let him know your opinion of his attitude towards Church activism on moral issues, you can email him at rep.john.kriesel@house.mn, call him at 651-297-9010, or send mail to 451 State Office Bldg, 100 Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Blvd., St. Paul, MN 55155
I recommend that all correspondence sent to the Representative be respectful and charitable, as befitting all Christians.

I would like to respectfully remind you that the Internal Revenue Service frowns upon churches and religious organizations devoting time to influencing legislation. Your admission of the commencement of a politically involved "campaign" will probably violate several state and federal tax provisions.

Spiegel Editor Says Hans Küng is Narcissistic
"Two old, narcissistic sick old men"
The famous "Spiegel" editor and writer Matthias Matussek has leveled a sharp critique against Hans Küng and Heiner Geissler.
München (kath.net) The famous "Spiegel" editor and writer Matthias Matussek has leveled sharp criticisms against Hans Küng and Heiner Geissler. These are "two old, narcissistic sick men, who are holding out for a better Pope. In any case for an infallible one."
Matussek would like also that the Catholic Church returns to Tradition. Celibacy is the "strongest sign" for the "anti-civil shadow world". The "refusal of coitus" is today clearly the "last mortal sin in our oversexualized society". The author was also critical on the promotion of ordination for women. It is "that much energy is wasted, carrying reform papers into the sanctuary." "The Germans think it is too important", says Matussek, who praises Pope Benedict all the more, who has the "most difficult job which this world has" to give.
Book tip:
It might be coming out in English. Will check, but it's:

Holy Father in Venice: True Love Defends the Truth
Vatican: Yesterday Pope Benedict XVI celebrated Mass in Mestre by Venice. 300.000 faithful and those eager to see him came to the event held in the open air. The Pope warned in his sermon of a hollowing out of the Faith. The Church must courageously defend the Faith and the unity of the Church. The Holy Father journeyed to Mestre and back to Venice via motorboat.

Conservative Archibishop for Berlin
![]() |
| Left to Right: +Imkamp, Gloria Taxis u. Thurn, Msgr. Georg Gänswein |
Editor: +Impkamp is a conservative choice. Usually, if the local media doesn't like someone or something in Germany, it's a good thing. They're downplaying +Imkamp.
Rome Cements the Decline
Germany: In Berlin the rumors are increasingly circulating that the Pilgrimage director of Maria Vesperbild, Prelate Wilhelm Imkamp, will be the new Bishop of Berlin. The 'Berliner Zeitung' said this on Saturday. The Old Liberals are chalking this up to his "plain text Catholicism", explained the paper: It serves "as a conservative concept of the enemy for Old Liberal functionaries". At the same time the paper reported that the new Archbishop "was a long decided thing": "Also because of the upcoming Pope visit one wanted to be united -- like perhaps Archbishop Matthias Heinrich (56)". For one church expert, a man of the stature of Prelate Imkamp is "not opportune. Still not" -- says the 'Berliner Zeitung'.

German Police Harass Priest
Friday morning at 9:30 they rang my door. by Sedevacantist Priest, Fr. Rolf Hermann Lingen.
[Kreuz] Last week two policemen in uniform with their squad cars came by looking for me.
They were sent by the court of Dorsten, in order to ask if I had received the court summons for the date of May 26th.
It was related to an alleged misuse of titles.
Threatened with Arrest Warrant
The summons was on April 15th as an "official notification" -- which means, with certified mail -- sent to me in my mailbox.
On 17th of April more people protested with faxes against the persecution of the Catholic Faith by the so-called District Court of Dorsten and the so-called Public Prosecutor's Office of Essen.
Thus this made it clear that this "summons to a court date with the issuance of an arrest warrant".
On April 28th I disseminated on the Internet and by fax a press release "court appointed attorney by reason of the difficulty of the case or legal situation".
I insisted that the main hearing of the absolute will to injustice -- concretely in the persecution of Christians and the destruction of the Church by the BRD -- will be made clear:
"The author asked for that reason as possible many volunteers, who could be witnesses in the trial and the world, that the BRD has oppressed here in the worst way the absolute indisputable human right for the avowal of the true religion.
Why is the Court asking me at all?
When I asked the police if the defendants are usually asked if they will appear to a court date, I received the answer, "No!"
Then came the key question: "Have you ever been a violent person?"
Naturally I'm not a thug and to that effect also have never been identified that way.
Objectively I have no previous convictions.
The both offenses attributed to me -- "abuse of title" or "libel" -- are groundless.
I understand that it is usually done for notorious lawbreakers or violent types to admonish them to appear at a court date.
But I am never advised as to my conflict with the law -- rather completely the opposite, only with the charge.
Otherwise: Is this expenditure for this procedure really justified because of an "abuse of title", really?
I would actually like to remind that I am a permanent fraud in the eyes of justice with limited chance for a reduction in criminal responsibility.
Would that the court really believe, neither would they require my appearance to the summons nor for anything it at all.
A demonstration of power
With that it's clear that the "question" of the local court is not on the grounds for information.
They appear to be conceived as a pure demonstration of power.
I see myself therefore strengthened in my conviction, that the BRD would shrink from no method, no matter how brutal, to damage the Church.
The BRD is a land where those who beat people unconscious and murder can run free.
At the same time they send there two uniformed policemen to ask a respectable Catholic priest after a post delivery instead of pursuing actual lawbreakers.
Here we could point out that the BRD has room for improvement.

Some News Coverage of David Berger in the Wake of His Dismissal
Now he lies again: "I never once attacked the Church."
Now the homosexual David Berger will enjoy a place in the daily Socialist Media with a place between the cadaver of Osama and the palaver of Obama. Here are some howlers from the Socialist media.
The notorious liar David Berger
"Berger, says the dpa, that his dismissal is owign to pressure from the extreme conservative forces, who had sponsored petitions and even encouraged the death penalty for homosexuals. "That shocked me the most." He identified, among others, the internet sites 'kreuz.net' [yay] and 'kath.net'. 'Kreuz.net' commented on the revocation of the teaching license with the sentence: "Now the homo has what he wants." Berger challenged the notion in his dpa interview that he had attacked the Catholic Church as such."
From an article in the Berlin newspaper 'Tagesspiegel'
Still more homosexual lies
"Berger has the corresponding opportunity of specificity in Canon Law of response, and not to address his comments instead to the media. In contradiction, the theologian said to 'Frankfurter Rundschau', that [Cardinal] Meisner had given him no opportunity, to address the charges made against him. The paper reported, [Cardinal] Meisner used the concepts "homosexuality" or "gay" in none of the parts of his decree."
From an article on the website 'heute.de'
In any other Company, he'd be let go
"'It is the common impression", said Meisners speaker Christoph Heckley. 'With any other employer that would lead to consequences. That's like a bank teller publicly saying: 'I'm not so good at calculating, and with settling an account, I'm not always accurate.'"
From an article in 'focus.de'
A 'Spiegel' - Lie
"A year ago it was rumored in conservative circles that Berger is homosexual."
From an article in 'spiegel.de'. The Portal 'kreuz.net' had already identified Berger as a sodomite in May of Mai 2007,
'We are Underwear' piped up
"The Movement 'We Are Church' sharply criticized Meisner's decision. This is a sad sign of our unholy and increasingly evident homophobia within the Roman Catholic Church, said a statement. In place of this the Church sexuality should offer life giving power even for homosexual people and also accept them within the Church."
From an article by information service 'dapd'
The Socialist Imperium Strikes Back
"'I knew the tribal factionalism, and for that reason this decision came from Cologne as a complete surprise', said the liberal pastor Winfried Jansen: 'In any case no one has any problems with Berger in Erfstadt. But after the publication of his book, where the criticism of the official Church was clear, that something had to happen. The Imperium strikes back now.'"
From an online-article in the daily news 'Kölner Stadtanzeiger.'

The Continuing Saga of the Dom Bosco Verein in Saarland
Editor: Petty rules shouldn't be able to stop or hinder real education from going on in modernist Germnany, but it does.
May 6, 2011
The "Don Bosco School Association" has filed a lawsuit against the Saarland ministry for social affairs. The reason: The ministry's office of youth affairs has still not responded to the association's petition to reopen its "Heart of Jesus School", that was shut down in August, 2010. The association, which is controlled by the FSSPX, lost its permit to run the school last year because more than 25 children were being boarded although the permit only allowed for 8 boarding pupils. In an preliminary decision last August, an appeals court ruled for the office of youth affairs, finding that the closing of the school was lawful and that the school association had proved itself untrustworthy by violating the permit conditions.
Nevertheless, says the school association, the decision of the court also made clear that nothing stood in the way of a renewed issuance of the permit, as long as the association was able to prove that the infrastructure was in place to run the school in compliance with regulations. And the association has now been able to prove this for some time. A statement of the association declared: "In spite our efforts to work together constructively; in spite of the newly constructed dormitory and reorganized management", the office for youth affairs refuses to process the new permit application. Thus, six months after initiating the application, the association finds itself forced to file a lawsuit.
A speaker for the ministry of social affairs yesterday justified its silence by the lack of a final decision in the original case. As long as no final decision has been issued by the court, the school association must still be considered untrustworthy. The school association, for its part, now would like to convince the public of its integrity and thus invites everyone to view the new dormitory rooms. An open house with refreshments is planned for tomorrow, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

Martyr Cardinal, Aloyisius Stepanic
Editor: Here is a man who bore the indignities and torments of the Passion. He was beatified by John Paul II on October 3, 1998. In honor of his birthday which is May 8, the feast of St. Victor Maurus, we present a piece written in 1947, defending this great man against his Communist persecutors. We personally recall a University professor who taught at a Midwestern College who lamented the Beatification of this great Saint, repeating the vicious calumnies against the Cardinal repeated by his Communist hosts in Tito's Yugoslavia during the sixties. We hope that we can do a small part in making reparation for that by this small work. Our age needs more heroes like him. Maybe you can help Our Lord carry his Cross?

Aloysius Stepanic [Croatian: Alojzije Viktor Stepinac, 8 May 1898 –10 February 1960] is a Croatian peasant, Archbishop of Zagreb and spiritual chief of all Catholics in his native land.
In October, 1946, he was condemned by Joseph Tito, communist dictator of Yugoslavia, to sixteen years of forced labor, on the score of political activity against the State. At this writing he is still in prison, despite the pleas and protests of millions, literally, of those who know him not as a politician but as a saintly humanitarian, the indomitable palladium of all that is best in Croatian culture.
Stepanic fought as a youth in the Austrian-Hungarian Army. He was twice decorated by his government for valor on the Italian front. As a Second Lieutenant on the Salonika Front, he was awarded the highest Yugoslav military decoration.

"Brown Dwarf" Threatens Earth -- NASA
Editor: Do Penance. Prepare for your death for it is always near.

“I found out that a large celestial body has already penetrated the solar system and is on course for a near and possibly horrific encounter with the earth in the fall of 2011. ”

This is going to be the most extraordinary communication so fasten your seatbelts; we are in for a rough ride. I have known in my heart for months that I would have to make a communication like this but had no idea it would be this soon. Back in January, while investigating the underground city that is alleged to have been built under the new Denver Airport, reported on by the former governor Jesse Ventura, I put the puzzle together and came to the conclusion that a planetary event was in store for us in 2012.
Today I am presenting rock solid information; it does not get any better when NASA is your source. What you are about to read and see is happening. Last night, looking at a NASA mathematical model of comet Elenin, I found out that a large celestial body has already penetrated the solar system and is on course for a near and possibly horrific encounter with the earth in the fall of 2011. What we do not know is the size and mass of comet Elenin though I have no doubt that it is known by the authorities.

The gravitational pull would grab the water and pull it over the land on a massive scale, much like the moon does today on a smaller scale in the form of tides.

Crush the Society of Pius -- Abort from Germany
Editor: Previously last week, the Society of Saint Pius X organized a substantial demonstration at the abortion clinic run by the Nazi-founded abortion provider ironically named 'pro familia'. Apparently, this angered some of the local leftist hooligans who decided to vandalize the chapel there.
Why are the leftists all so eager for violence? Rather than explaining the left position with arguments, why not do it with a black eye instead?
(kreuz.net) The anonymous and anti-Constitutional website 'linksunten.dndymedia.org' made this known yesterday:
"Early today we covered the chapel 'Saint Antonius of Padua' belonging to the clerical-fascist Society of Pius in Betzenhausen with pink and purple paint."
Betzenhausen is a part of the city of Freiburg.
The aforementioned website is driven by church-, people- and socially contemptible political criminals.
The Society of St. Pius X is by far the most famous Catholic organization in Germany.
The political criminals justified their crime like this: "In the Society of Pius they unite Catholic fundamentalism with populist-nationalist Ideology".
That's actually, partially, correct.
Because the Society is on a solid Catholic foundation.
It is in any case not bound to any "populist-nationalist Ideology", rather it is internationally oriented.
The founder of the Society, Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre († 1991), was not a German People's Party member and spent the largest amount of his life in Africa.
His father was MURDERED in a Socialist concentration camp.
The reason for the damage to the Church is based in that representatives of the Society in Freiburg are against the violence of abortion and marched for the right to life of every person.
Socialists Defend National Socialists
It is sufficent to say that the leftist strikers were throwing themselves in the breach, because they are in favor of the abortion firm 'pro familia'.
This was founded and directed for many years after the Second World War by the Old-Nazi Hans Harmsen († 1989)
The Socialists downplayed the organization's Nazi background as "an information center for sexual self-determination".
The prayers and songs of the Society of St. Pius appeared to them as "anachronistic and laughable".
Because: "What they attribute to God, is for others the >>Volksgemeinschaft [racial community with Nazi implications]<< or place of Germany".
Monstrously the damage which has happened to the church, since it happened thereto, is being handled, therefore, as a part of German normalcy, that would deal with politics as a trivial offense.
The article ended with the exclamation: "Piusbruderschaft zerschlagen. Deutschland abreiben." [Beat the Priestly Society. Abort them from Germany.]

Holy Father: No Opposition Between Tradition and Progress in the Liturgy
Editor: Pope Benedict is addressing one of the chief sources of Liturgical abuses in the Church today, the Benedictines of Sant'Anselmo. He seems to make a backhand swipe at Dom Beauduin, perhaps. New Liturgical Movement got an Italian translation which describes Benedict's critique in terms of going "beyond" the Council. [About which Rorate Caeli was more circumspect, and Vatican Radio didn't touch on any of this at all.]Basically, this is more reform of the reform talk to Old Liberals who will do their best to ignore the Holy Father's admonitions and prescriptions. That doesn't appear in the following essay by theologian Armin Schibach, but there it is:
'sana traditio' and 'legitima progressio': The program of reform of the Council Fathers. Back in the future on the way to "Sacrosanctum Concilium'. The river of Tradition. by Armin Schibbach
Rome (kath.net/as) In the area of Liturgy, Tradition and progress are not put together in "an "awkward manner" one against the other. Actually, both enrich each other: Tradition contains in itself the principle of development and is always a living reality: "The river of Tradition always flows from its source as it strives toward its mouth". With these words Pope Benedict addressed today's Friday lecture, taking part in the event, organized for the the Papal Liturgical Institute 'Sant'Anselmo', on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of its founding.
Benedict XVI next addressed the reason for the memorial, which lead to the founding of the Liturgical Institute. In this, it was the wish of Pope John XXIII to take up the Liturgical Movement [Editor: Its Revolutionary character, founded primarily in illicit and therefore sinful liturgical abuses don't get mentioned in talks like this.], whose aim was to give a new impetus to the prayer of the Church, shortly before the Vatican Council, by forming the Liturgical Institute at the Benedictine University at the Aventine. The Pope was to have a firm basis for the Liturgical Reform of the Council in this way.
On the eve of the Council, continued Benedict XVI, the need for the reform of the Liturgy made itself ever more certain. The pastoral necessity, which the Liturgical Movement ensouled, made it requisite that the active participation of the faithful in the Liturgical Celebration would be encouraged by the use of the vernacular and that the adaptation of the rites deepening the various cultures.
Similarly, there has been a necessity present from the beginning, to study the depths of the Liturgical foundation, "in order to avoid falling into Ritualism or to validate the subjectivism and protagonism of the celebrant." The reform should find itself centered in the area of the offering of the divine Sacrifice and its justification in the Tradition of the Church.
Proceeding with the theme of the Congress (The Papal Liturgical Institute between Commemoration and Prophesy") the Pope stressed that the reason for the institute is "Commemoration". The Institute has accomplished its task toward the reception of the IInd Vatican Council. For that reason it has become possible to help the holy people of God, "to live the liturgy as an expression of a praying people, as Christ's presence in the midst of the people and as constitute an actuality of salvation history".
The Constitution of the Holy Liturgy "Sacrosanctum Concilium" poses the twofold theological and ecclesiological character of the Liturgy: "The celebration simultaneously makes real an Epiphany of the Lord and an Epiphany of the Church, two dimensions, which is bound to the reality the Liturgical assembly". In the Liturgy of the Church "gives the active presence of Christ: What he brought into fruition during His stay among the people, whose focus formed in the Eucharist is made real."
The Liturgy of the Church "goes out from the 'Conciliar Reform'", says Benedict XVI. Its goal is not, above all, to change the rites and texts, but it is much more to renew the mentality and put the Christian life and the pastoral care of the celebration of the Pascal Mystery of Christ at its center.
"Unfortunately the Liturgy would-- even among us shepherds and experts -- be seen as an object, that it was necessary to reform, and not as a Subject, that is capable of renewing the Christian life, where there was a very narrow band between the renewal of the Liturgy and the renewal of the whole life of the Church: the Church draws its power to live from the Liturgy." In that point, he recalled Pope John Paul in his Apostolic writing "Vinesimus quintus annus" (4. Dezember 1988)on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Constitution of "Sancrosanctum Concilium".
The Liturgy is "the highpoint, to which the action of the Church reaches and is the source from which all of her virtues proceed", said Benedict XVI. So She becomes the great tutor of the primacy of the Faith and of Grace. The Liturgy is the "privileged witness of the living Tradition of the Church", in truth Her fundamental mission, in the "Today" of human affairs the "opus Redemptionis" between the apparent and the existent. For that reason the Liturgy lives "of a correct and standing relation between 'sana traditio' and 'legitima progressio'" (compare. Sancrosanctum Concilium, Nr. 23).
With these two concepts the Council Fathers desired to lay out their "program of reform", "to put the same weight on the great liturgical Tradition of the past with that of the future".

Cardinal Burke's latest interview dealing with Summorum Pontificum
Editor: Heads up to the Bishops. You can't expect obedience on the part of your laity if you're unwilling to be obedient yourselves.
In its application, I have ascertained an always increasing interest and appreciation for the extraordinary form of the Roman Rite, for the faithful in general and for young Catholics in particular. Excellent initiatives have taken place in order to promote acquaintance with the motu proprio and its objective, foreseen by the Holy Father when he promulgated it. I think of numerous individual talks as well as conferences on sacred liturgy, which have granted particular attention to the extraordinary form of the Roman Rite and to its relationship with the ordinary form. Additionally, several books and articles have been published, having as their aim a deep study of the motu proprio.by Pete Frey on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at 12:00pm
It is evident that the application of Summorum Pontificum has not taken place in a uniform fashion in the Church universal. In some places, its application has even faced resistence by the part of those who claim not to understand its goals and who defend that the motu proprio cannot be applied before the publication of the Instruction related to its application. I hope that the Instruction will be published shortly, so that the motu proprio may be applied in a more universal and more uniform way, according to the profound pastoral solicitude of our Holy Father for the sacred liturgy. To those who claim not to understand the intentions of Summorum Pontificum, I suggest a re-reading of the Letter to the Bishops, written by our Holy Father when it was promulgated, as well as the numerous writings of the Holy Father on sacred liturgy, published before and after his election to the Chair of Peter. I think, for instance, of his masterpiece: The Spirit of the Liturgy.
As far as I am concerned, the application of the motu proprio has allowed me to greatly develop and deepen my knowledge and love for the sacred liturgy, the highest expression of the faith and of the life of the Church. By re-reading the apostolic letter itself, as well as the accompanying Letter to Bishops of the Pope, I see how the Holy Father was inspired when grating to the universal Church this new liturgical discipline. I have myself been a personal witness to the good fruits of this new discipline
Papal Knight to Speak at Saint Benedict Center Conference
![]() |
| Sir Charles |
[Saint Benedict Center] The Saint Benedict Center, administered by the Slaves of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, will hold its fifteenth annual conference on October 7-8, 2011. The conference will be held on the monastery grounds in Richmond, New Hampshire. Call 603-239-6485, email bam@catholicism.org, or visit cat.catholicism.org for registration information.
The theme of this year’s conference will be Right and Freedom: Catholic Considerations on Misused Concepts. Included in the list of speakers is author, papal historian, and lecturer, Charles A. Coulombe, K.C.S.S. By order of Pope John Paul II, Mr. Coulombe was created a Knight Commander of the Order of St. Sylvester for his services rendered to the Holy See. Author of the chart-climbing The Pope's Legion, and Puritan’s Empire: A Catholic Perspective on American History, Coulombe is recognized internationally for his in-depth knowledge of Vatican politics and the influence of Catholicism in America and Europe. His audiences regularly range from graduate students at Oxford University, England to the New Mexico Military Institute, from which he graduated. His international articles have appeared in the New Oxford Review, National Catholic Register, American Thinker, Los Angeles Catholic Mission, Monarchy Canada, and The Irish Democrat.
The list of speakers also includes retired U.S. Army Special Forces (Green Beret) officer Dr. Robert Hickson, a former professor at the U.S. Air Force Academy and the Defense Intelligence College, and former Chairman of the Literature and Latin Department at Christendom College. Joining Dr. Hickson will be the celebrated Catholic writer and chronicler of the traditionalist movement in the Church, Gary Potter, the founding editor of Triumph magazine and the author of After the Boston Heresy Case.
Other speakers include Brother André Marie, M.I.C.M., Prior of the Saint Benedict Center since 2002, and lecturer in the fields of apologetics, ecclesiology, church history and devotional practices; Boston’s veteran culture warrior and noted defender of the Faith, C.J. Doyle, Executive Director of the Catholic Action League of Massachusetts; and noted Catholic psychotherapist and lecturer, G.C. Dilsaver, PsyD, MTS, author of Imago Dei Psychotherapy: A Catholic Conceptualization and The Three Marks of Manhood: How to Be Priest, Prophet and King of Your Family.
Brother André Marie made the following comment: “This year, our conference will explore two very maltreated concepts, both of which are necessary for an orderly natural society, and both of which are elevated by God in the real life, the life of grace, which we live in God’s true Church. In these days when increasing governmental hubris both asserts non-extant 'rights,' (e.g., 'gay marriage') and denies fundamental human freedom (e.g., abortion), Catholics must recover and safeguard the proper notions of right and freedom. As usual, our fine panel of speakers will treat their subject in a way that is both illuminating and motivating, informative and practical. They will show how the solutions to the ills of society, the family, and the individual soul are to be found in Catholic tradition.”
The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered according to the traditional Roman Rite (“Extraordinary Form”) during the conference, as it always is offered at Saint Benedict Center.
Marquette Administration Shuts Down Novus Ordo "Latin" Mass
Editor: The Jesuits hate the Mass of All Ages and the fruits it produces so much that they'll even shut down a Mass that just looks like it.
Recommendation: since you don't need the approval of an Ordinary, just go ahead and use the 1962 Missal.
Here's the report from Marquette Warrior:

Here's the report from Marquette Warrior:
We have heard for several days that the French Honor Society would be sponsoring a mass tomorrow night. It would be the “Latin Mass” we were told, but with parts in French.
It was to be led by Rev. Canon Olivier Meney, who is the “go to” guy for the Latin Mass in southeastern Wisconsin.
Indeed, just a few minutes ago we got the flyer for the event.
But now it has been cancelled. We confirmed that with Rev. Meney’s secretary, and with Emily Schumacher-Novak in Campus Ministry.

Archbishop Gomez Snubs Communist Mayday Parade
“Members of a socialist or communist group”
Archbishop Gomez forgoes appearance at annual May Day rally in Los Angeles
Los Angeles Archbishop José Gomez snubbed the leftist organizers of the annual May Day Rally in Los Angeles this year and did not attend – unlike his predecessor, Cardinal Roger Mahony, who always went out of his way to participate.
Most of the marchers, said the Times “were union members -- particularly from the Service Employees International Union, which turned out hundreds of people -- or members of a socialist or communist group.”
That compares to a crowd estimate of 60,000 at last year’s march, from which pro-abortion, pro-same-sex marriage Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa tweeted, “At the May Day rally downtown with Cardinal Roger Mahony and 100k other supporters of comprehensive immigration reform.”
Cardinal Mahony even wrote about last year’s event in a May 2, 2010 entry on his blog: “Downtown Los Angeles became a sea of joyous and hopeful people on May Day this year. In a stunning turnout of people of all backgrounds, ages, and affiliations Broadway Street from Temple to Olympic resounded with song, chants, and spirited encouragement for all immigrants in our country.”
Newspapers featured photos of Cardinal Mahony, smiling as he worked his way through last year’s crowds.
According to an account published on the website of a group calling itself Act Now to Stop War and End Racism (ANSWER), participants in this year’s rally included, among others, the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, the Full Rights for Immigrants Coalition, the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles, the Multi-ethnic Immigrant Workers Organizing Network, the National Day Laborer Organizing Network, the Party for Socialism and Liberation, and “LGBT rights organizations.”
Among those interviewed for the Times story on this year’s rally was Carlos Escorcia, “a member of the Nicaraguan socialist Sandinista National Liberation Front.”
In the past, the LA archdiocesan Office of Justice and Peace had been instrumental in promoting a "Catholic" presence at the event. This year, the Office of Peace and Justice included mention of the May Day rally in an April 28 “News Blast.”
“On May 1, hundreds of thousands of immigrant workers and supporters will march in cities across the country for immigrant workers' rights,” said the item, published on the archdiocesan website. “In L.A., we will march for comprehensive immigration reform, and against racist and anti-immigrant state laws like in Arizona and Georgia. Join the L.A. Labor contingent on May 1. March side-by-side with our sisters and brothers: hotel workers, port truck drivers, carwasheros, sanitation workers, homecare workers, students, and all immigrant workers who need federal immigration reform now. Turkish Government Aims to Destroy Oldest Monastery in the World
Today there is a continuing legal process in effect, while the the over 1,600 year old Monastery fights for its bare survival. by Marianne Bruckl.
(kreuz.net) On 26th of January 2011 the systematic dispossession of a Syrian-Orthodox Monastery -- built in the year 397 -- Mor Gabriel in Tur Abdin in south east Turkey began
Today the courts in Ankara gave the national treasury of the district town of Midyat and the Turkish forestry office a significant portion of the Monastery property.
Will the bell of Mor Gabriel be silenced forever? The hope of the Monks is dwindling.
First on the 26th of January the decision of the Supreme Court in Ankara hit like the crack of a whip.
24 Hectares of the Cloister propety would fall in the judgement for the national treasury of the district town Midyat -- irrespective of the documents which proved the Monasteries claims of ownership.
The Second Blow
On the 20th of February the highest court in Ankara struck the Monastery with a second blow.
A further 27.6 Hectares of land within and outside of the Monastery wall were given to the office of forestry in Midyat.
A judgment which is a further consequence of an unfair legal process which is aimed on the state confiscation of the Christian heritage and dechristianization.
The Third Blow
The occupants fear the worst, that there will be still further cases filed against them.
So, Kuryakos Ergün -- who is the president of the Monastery foundation of Mor Gabriel -- must appear in front of the court yet again.
The complaint reads that the Monastery wall is not up to code and is built on state owned forest.
The question at present is the judgement of the highest court in Ankara for the destruction of the defensive wall.
One fears that Ergün will be punished.
The Deadly Blow
Despite the protests of European politicians, church respresentatives and human rights organizations against the arbitrariness of the process, Turkey remains intransigent.
The court decision of February 20th entitled the State to the outline of the Monastery wall.
It makes it clear that Turkey wants to drive the old established Christians out of the country.
Without a protective wall, the fruit and vegetable gardens carefully cultivated by the Monastery will be destroyed by herds of cattle which come from the surrounding Kurdish villages.
The surrender of the almost 1700 year old Monastery is an inevitability.
Thus the way would be clear for the Turks to assume one of the last witnesses of Christianity before the Islam.
They established themselves in Anatolia only in 622.
At the same time Turkey wants into the EU
Mor Gabriel is for the Christians in Southeast Anatolia a religious refuge, which up until now has drawn the faithful and tourists from all over the world.
If the Monastery is lost, then it is forseeable that the remaining Christians, who are about 2,500 - 3,000 Assyrians will also soon lose their homeland.
What is so strange is that the Turkish Premier Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan was attempting to promote and strengthen the efforts of Turkey to enter the European Union.
He himself felt discriminated against in this instance -- he claims.
Erdogan criticized that it is against International Law to disallow Turks living in Germany of their national culture.
Actually these efforts, which have taken place in Germany, must also extend to protect Christians in Turkey.
If he attempts to prevent the dispossession of the Monastery of More Gabriel he could show, that his intentions are sincere.
He must protect the freedom of Christians in Turkey, to allow Aramaic language instruction and Christian religious instruction and allow priests to be educated.
Whoever seeks the recognition of human rights abroad, must promote them in his own land as well.
Because the protection of the rights of minorities, civil liberties and religious freedom is not a one way street.
It is a duty for everyone -- even for Erdogan.
