Episcopal Consecration Celebrated "Facing God" in Italy

(Rome) The news is not new, yet it is subsequently newsworthy. On the occasion of the consecration of the new bishop of the Diocese of Carpi, Italy, Monsignor Francesco Cavina removed the main altar from the chancel and celebrated ad Dominum Cathedral of Imola. This report on tradition is associated website Messa in Latino. The consecration was in the presence of Tarcisio Cardinal Bertone, the Vatican Secretary of State.

The consecration took place on 22 January 2012 in the Cathedral of St. Cassian instead. It must have been a one-time process that is still remarkable, and not least because of the importance of the event. Two weeks ago, Pope Benedict XVI. also celebrated the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord in the Sistine Chapel ad Dominum.

Destruction of the High Altar

Back in 2006 there was an episcopal ordination in Italy ad orientem, as on 25 June 2006, the new Archbishop of Oristano was ordained in the local cathedral. The consecration was before the then President of the Italian Bishops' Conference, Cardinal Camillo Ruini. The Parish Priest Msgr Costantino Usai had decided to end the "provisional solution" of a popular shrine. He justified the decision to the cathedral chapter, among other things, that the initiative that had been was not caused by the Second Vatican Council. The main altar is hindering the full enjoyment of the great dynamic power of the liturgy, and it runs the risk of a reduction in the danger of self-celebration in itself. The outgoing Archbishop Monsignor Pier Giuliano Tiddia had welcomed the decision.


As the newly appointed Archbishop Msgr Ignazio Sanna was consecrated and enthroned, he was forced to celebrate ad Dominum. Immediately after his enthronement the new Archbishop explained then that the "experiment" ad orientem is "not successful" and "this form of celebration" will lead back "to a pre-Conciliar dimension", "which, as I must assure, does not correspond to the sensibility of the people of God." The people's altar was rebuilt, this time the high altar was permanently bricked up and broken off from the possibility of another "restoration trial".

Cardinal Marx of Munich Reassigns Child-abuser to Parish Work

Edit: you'll possibly remember the St. Polten, Austria debacle which closed a seminary and involved a corrective suspension of two priests both its Rector, Father Ulrich Kuechl and the Sub-regent, Doctor Wolfgang Rothe. Kreuz.net has learned that Father Rothe is being reassigned to a parish by the Old Liberal Cardinal of Munich. We think the double standard in this matter will continue and the Liberal regime which abets such outrages will facilitate the "clean up" while the Church itself will continue to suffer their poor management and bad faith.

Germany. The priest who stumbled into a homosexual scandal, the Ex-subregent of St. Polten in Austria, Father Wolfgang Rothe, is going to be a Parish Vicar in Munich. The Old Liberal Cardinal Reinhard Marx of Munich and Freising has signed the decree of appointment on July 9th. Father Rothe will assume the position in September. He is the Parish Vicar in a Munich Parish organization "Transfituration of Christ -- St. Micheal". He was last active as a chaplain in a convalescent home.

It's been an interesting summer for reassignments and such. Bishop Finn of Kansas City was recently tried and found guilty for the misdemeanor offense of "failing to report child abuse". This was widely hailed by many as a symbol of the clergy's protected status and the continuing corruption in the Church. There were a few bloggers even on the traditional side who uncritically accepted the New York Times, professional victim side of all this.


It will be interesting indeed to see if it makes any difference to them that this wasn't just a case of homosexual seminarians and their professors (sad that many don't find that shocking enough to end a priest's career) having a frolic, but as Micheal Rose reported when it happened, these seminarians and priests had more than 40,000 pornographic images including ones that featured the sexual abuse of children. It is an indisputable fact that not only did the seminary rector Father Kueschel and the ex-subregent, Father Rothe know about the photos of children being abused sexually, but they even used them for their own gratification while abusing their own seminarians. The photos showed seminarians and priests from Austria’s Sankt Poelten seminary fondling and kissing one another and engaging in sex games. Profil also reported that some 40,000 pornographic images and films were downloaded to the seminary’s computers, including photographs depicting acts of pedophilia and bestiality.

Consequently, German-language media outlets have been saturated this week with reports of the Austrian seminary scandal chock o’block full of lurid details in what has become the Catholic Church’s Abu Ghraib. Headlines such as "Seminary orgy rocks Church in Austria" (Irish Examiner), "Church probes perverse pictures" (Toronto Star), and "Porn case could torpedo bishop" (The Guardian), made news from Britain to Australia to America.

The scandal immediately prompted the resignation of two seminary officials, an internal investigation by the Austrian bishops conference, and calls for a criminal investigation since the scandal involves a large cache of child pornography—illegal in Austria as in most other countries.

Cardinal Brandmüller Admitted to Hospital

[Katholisches] Walter Cardinal Brandmüller (83) has been admitted to hospital because of heart pain. This was reported by Francisco de la Cigoña. Born in Ansbach in the year 1929, the German Church historian and theologian was called to the College of Cardinals in 2010 by Pope Benedict XVI. On May 15th 2011, he celebrated the first Pontifical High Mass in St. Peters in Rome since 1970. He was President of the Pontifical Committee for Historical Sciences of leading Historians of the Catholic Church. He is counted as one of the most acclaimed members of the College of Cardinals and is a promoter of the Liturgical renewal of the Catholic Church and the rediscovery of the classical form of the Roman Rite.

 Edit:  I've often thought that the real reason "traditionalists" don't like kreuz.net is that they're homosexually inclined and whatever beliefs they have about Catholic doctrine and Liturgy, they're not disinterested enough to look past justifiable criticisms of their unnatural inclinations.

Yesterday it she managed to bring the homo-media gasping with despair for breath and begging for an oxygen tent.

The reason:  in the beginning of September Miss Hilton said about homosexuals what everyone is thinking.

  A New York taxi driver illegally took note of a conversation between her and a homosexual who was riding with her.

The shameless homosexual sex-fiend is said to have shown the lady his mobile telephone, where he was seeking other homosexual sex-fiends.

Besides that, he spoke about an AIDS infected homosexual, whose goal was to infect other men with the illness.

She said what everyone thinks

That's when Miss Hilton expressed her revulsion and her detestation over homosexual decadence.

She condemned the homosexually disturbed individual with healthy folk feeling: "Ewww! Gay guys are the horniest people in the world."

She concluded:  "They're disgusting. Dude, most of them probably have AIDS ... I would be so scared if I were a gay guy. You'll like, die of AIDS."

A New Oratory in Aufhausen Germany

Wherever the anti-Christian German Kirchensteuer-apparatus (Church-tax) can't budge it, there are even the fruits of Grace in Germany.

(kreuz.net)  On the 15th of September the Vatican has erected the Congregation of the Oratory of St. Philipp Neri near the 1,700 population community of Aufhausen near Regensburg.

It is known as the the Society of the Brothers of the Precious Blood (FSS).

The new Oratory works together with the female Society the Servants of the Precious Blood (SAS).

Around these communities "A circle of friends of the Spiritual Family of the Precious Blood" has formed.

Already 12 Members

The Community counts at present twelve brothers: two priests, three theology students, four lay brothers and three candidates.

The two priests are Father Winfried Wermter and Father Piotr Lipinski.

After them are the clerics and lay brothers Frater Thomas Sedlmeier, Frater Marek Michna, Frater Josef Felder, Frater Marian Brodowksi and Frater Gunther Scheder who are members of the new Oratory.

There was an Oratory in Aufhausen once before

The Oratory in Aufhausen is a Congregation of Pontifical Right.

It is connected in its tradition to a community, founded in 1672 by the Pastor Johann Georg Seidenbusch in 1672 together with his assistant priests.

From that grew the first Oratory in the German speaking world.

Consecrated upon the title "Maria Schnee" [Snows of Mary] became a pilgrimage church.

The community wasn't nullified during the secularization of Bavaria and received the title "Royal Institute of Neri" (till 1829).

 The last provost died in 1886.

The old tradition is brought back to life

In 1890 the Benedictines from the Lower Bavarian cloister of Metten took over the empty buildings in 1890.

They established a new structure and a priory, which was given up in 1978 again.

Since 2006  the community of the Brothers of the Sacred Blood have lived in Aufhausen have well revivified the old tradition of the Oratory.

Old Liberal German Bishops Threaten "Excommunication" to Those Who Won't Pay

Edit: the Kirchensteuer (Church-tax) issue has been a contentious one in German speaking areas as the Old Liberal Church structure uses it to promote its less-than-Catholic policies.  At this point, the German Bishops are willing to use their flagging spiritual authority to keep the money and their power.  Rome appears to have acquiesced in the worst possible way.  This is a disaster.  Here's the article we've hurriedly translated from the German District of the SSPX's website:

Bonn (pius.info) During his Germany Visit in 2011 Pope Benedict called people to attention making an appeal in his so-called Freiburg speech to "worldliness" in the Church. True openness to the world is only made possible by a corresponding release and emancipation from structural coercion. At the same time, Church-steuer (tax) became a topic of discussion in the media. Today (20 Sept) the German Bishops' Conference has published in a press release, which actually goes against the desire of the Pope, to refuse all Sacraments, to those who are indeed Catholic --- but do not want to pay Kirchensteuer (Church tax).

 Already on the 13th of March 2006 the Pontifical Council for the Interpretation of Legislative Texts had pointed out the glaring conflict in Germany. It was then that Rome recalled that leaving the State designation can not be automatically compared to defection from the Catholic Church. As "withdrawal from State" is handled as a separation from the Church, in so far as in the Bundesrepublik of Germany it is a Body of Public Law and whose members are bound to pay taxes by the state.

 A separation from this Body is, as Rome presently has described it, is not bound by the punishment of excommunication. Therefore a baptized Catholic, who is effectively wishes to separate from the Church as a visible institution, to his current local Bishop or at least to his pastor, that he completely or partially rejects the Faith of the Church or does not want to place himself under the hierarchical order of the Church. That means therefore, that also in Germany the membership in the Church is not identical with membership in the state regulated Body of Public Law. (In the description of the written Papal Council for the Interpretation of Legislative Texts of the 13th of March 2006; is based on a document to the Society in the Newsletter of March 2012 recommendations to the faithful, who have left the State Body and to announce to the Parish office affiliation.)
 
Exactly the opposite was announced in the Decree of the German Bishops' Conference on the 20th of September. Though one does not incur automatic excommunication any longer, it probably constitutes a "compromise" with the Roman position, but the leaving the Church in the form of its government situation has the same legal consequences as excommunication. These legal consequences are mentioned decree of the German Bishops' Conference in Point II 1. described:

"The person who has left the Church

- may not receive the Sacraments of Penance, Eucharist, Confirmation and
Last Rites -- except for the danger of death

-  can not be vested in any ecclesiastical offices and may not participate in functions in
the Church,

- can not be a Godfather or a sponsor for Confirmation,

- can not be a member in either parish or Diocesan Councils.

- loses the active and passive right of voting in the Church.

-can not be a member in public Church societies."

In clear English: whoever doesn't pay, doesn't get the Sacraments.

Everyone who leaves the official state body, should receive a document (zum Pastoralen Schreiben der DBK).

That this is effectively the same thing as an excommunication, is shown especially in a further clarification of the decree, which touches on the Church burial of a "person who has left the Church".

This can not only be refused if the person "has shown before her death any sign of remorse." It raises the question of what the sign of repentance of the person is? Has she paid no church tax?

Rome has approved the decree, so this compromise has solely avoided the concept of "excommunication."
This is represents a complete abandonment of the position of the Pontifical Council for the Interpretation of Legislative Texts of 2006 rand represents no  detachment from worldly constraints and clearer witness to the faith, but has announced the massive incorporation into the state system.

Which position of the Gospel are the German bishops pointing to now? Is it  Mt 10:8 "Freely you have received, freely give"?  Or one could one also but equally recall  Matthew 6:24: "You can not serve God and Mammon"?

One must find one in any case: In the case of counseling pregnant women, Pope John Paul II  demonstrated more backbone, determination and authority to the German bishops,  than the present German Pope Benedict XVI. in the matter of church tax.

Russian Church Sanctifies North Pole

This is from Mystagogy blog and Barents Observer, about the Russian Church blessing the Arctic:

The capsual includes a small plate with the inscription: “With the blessing of Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All of the Rus, the consecration of the North Pole marks the 1150 years of Russian Statehood”, a press release from the Church reads.

The Church consecration took place as part of the major ongoing Arctic-2012 expedition, a mission organized by the Russian Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute. The capsual was dropped to sea by Bishop Iakov of Naryan-Mar in a ceremony attended by both expedition leader Vladimir Sokolov and ship Captain Oleg Shchapin.

As previously reported, the Arctic expedition left Murmansk with the nuclear powered icebreaker “Rossiya” on 8 September. On 13 September, the vessel reached the Pole point, and the expedition subsequently continued through Arctic waters towards the site where the drifting Russian research station “North Pole-39” will be replaced by a new facility.

Old Believers vs. Vatican

Edit: Missing from the Kreuz.net account is the fact that Father Schmidberger doesn't believe that the Holy Father will excommunicate the Society again. From our own perspective it seems clear that the Society can wait out the decadent elements of the hierarchy in Europe and America whose numbers and influence are fading quickly while the Society and confreres in "good standing" with the Church grow ever stronger by the month.  Time is definitely on the Society's side in these negotiations.

Of course, who knows what the Holy Father will do when he receives Bishop Fellay's response.

Benedict XVI wants that the Lefebvrists accept while only denouncing the particular formulations of the Catastrophe-Council.  Under this qualification they are  liable to be pilloried themselves. -kreuz.net

(kreuz.net) In a video interview for the site 'pius.info' Father Franz Schmidberger -- the German District Superior of the Society of St. Pius X --  have summarzied the qualifications which the Vatican has set forth for the "normalization" of the Society.

There won't be a second Society

The Society may be able to put the errors of the Second Vatican Council "in the pillory".

They will be able to use the old Missal exclusively.

And they requested a Vatican assurance that the Bishops of the Society will be chosen in the future from their ranks.

Query to the Pope

Father Schmidberger explained that the last version of the Dogmatic Preamble -- which the Vatican presented to the Society on the 13th of June --  was the proposed text he received.

It naturally had additions included, "which presented a problem for us".

Because of that the Society asked the Pope if this version was his or one of  his collaborators.

In his answer, the Pope assured them that the new requests were his own requests.

"That really won't work"

The new proposals contained -- said Father Schmidberger -- the recognition of the liceity of the New Mass and the recognition of the Second Vatican Council.

The Society may only discuss the nuances or one or some of the other formulations.

They still must be prepared to see the Pastoral Council in an unbroken line with the Dogmatic Councils.

Father Schmidberger's commentary:  "That doesn't work, naturally.  There are breaks, which are not to be denied."

Anormal situation

He stressed that the Vatican would have to rescind these, if they wished to normalize the relations with the Society.

The current situation of the Society is "anormal".

Actually this situation -- which is pressing for a normalization -- is not the fault of the Society.

The discussions with Rome should have shown -- that the Society is seeking normalization and depend on the Pope.

Zig-zag Personal Politics

The controversial Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine and the Faith, Archbishop Gerhard Ludwig Müller, was described by Father Schmidberger as not very "well disposed" to the Society.

He has favored an "almost hostile disposition" to the Society.

The new Vice President of the Commission "Ecclesia Dei", Archbishop Augustine DiNoia, is viewed by the District Superioor as a "balance" to the Head of the Congregation.

Why does Msgr Müller not sign the Dogmatic Preamble?

Father Schmidberger criticized the 'heterodox doctrine" of the Prefect for the Doctrine of the Faith.

He exchanged Transubstantiation with a theory of transfinalization, where the bread and wine in the Mass merely takes on a new quality.

He also doesn't possess a "very clear position" on the Virginity of Mary.

Such People Support the Pope

Finally, Father Schmidberger criticized the naming of Archbishop Arthur rooche as Secretary of the Congregation for Doctrine and the Faith.

Msgr Rche is a sharp opponent of the Motu Proprio 'Summoroum Pontificum'.

He had done everything in his Diocese in Leeds England to hinder the Old Mass.

Collegeville Continues to Defy Archbishop Nienstedt

Edit: Just recently, the Archbishop reasserted firm words about the importance of the defense of marriage act to the defense of the family, the most fragile community in the society from Lifesitenews.

“What we so rarely hear on the discussion on the marriage amendment is that it is meant to be a positive affirmation of both the beauty as well as the importance of this fundamental union for society,” said Nienstedt, “and even more so for the children who are born of that relationship, that is to say the next generation to come.”

“I ask all Minnesotans - all Minnesotans - to join us in voting yes on November 6th.”

He is also enjoining upon his clergy that they not remain silent as teachers of Catholic truth. Lifesitenews also quotes his exact words from last year in an address to his priests which we'll repeat here:

“The gravity of this struggle, and the radical consequences of inaction propels me to place a solemn charge upon you all — on your ordination day, you made a promise to promote and defend all that the Church teaches. I call upon that promise in this effort to defend marriage. There ought not be open dissension on this issue.”

Since last year, there have been a number of frequent defections, including Father Mark Tegeder of St. Francis Cabrini Parish in Minneapolis, as well as Father Bob Pierson of Modernist Collegeville. Father Pierson admited earlier in August that he was asked to lay low by Abbot John Klassen, but he hasn't done so and continues to flaunt the Archbishop's authority and says that he intends on voting "no" with respect to the defense of marriage. He just can't help himself, one of his fellow dissidents writes in response to Archbishop Nienstedt's statement on Father Pierson's facebook the following on August 30th as it appeared with typos and Father Pierson's endorsement:

I respectful disagree with the Archbishop. Even if you believe that marriage is between one man and one woman, this amendment does not belong in the State Constitution. I urge you to VOTE NO. Go to web site for Catholics for Marriage Equity MN (www.c4me.org) and to Minnesotans United for all Families (www.mnunited.org) and see why the marriage amendment is thw wrong thing to do, why it is inconsistent with Catholic Social Teachings, and why Catholics can and should vote no. Listen to Fr. Bob Pierson of St. John's University or Sabrina Brys Mauritz, a former Catholic social justice coordinator explain why they will Vote No. I am a retired Cahtolic Social Justice Coordinator and I will vote NO. It wasn't that long ago that our church defended slavery and was opposed to interracial and interfaith marriages. Voting No is no threat to my marriage or anyone else's marriage, but it may allow gay couples that are in love to make the same commitment we have been able to make. Remember it wasn't Jesus that every once spoke against gays; afterall God created such diversity in the human race. It really is a partisan issue which our Bishops should not have engaged in. They look more like bigots than followers of Jesus as they show no compassion, love or understanding for gays.

Theological Pogrom Against the Society of St. Pius X

Austria. [kreuz.net] On the 30th of Junuary 2013, the Archdiocese of Vienna is to organize a lecture against the Society of St. Pius X in the confines their Old Liberal "Theological Course". The Viennese Cardinal Christoh Schönborn is himself known to leave the Society outside on the stoop and to treat Old Liberals with great hospitality. The event is being aired under the title "The Society of Pius and the Council". The lecturer is the anti-Church dogmatic theologian, Fr. Wolfgang Beinert (79).

One SSPX newly ordained priest was not able to use the facilities, when a well-intentioned priest of the Archdiocese, Fr. Vasile Ciobanu, wanted to allow him to use his home parish, and was told he couldn't after asking permission of the Vienna Archdicoese. Meanwhile, the Danube Cardinal frequently makes every effort to accommodate dissidents of every variety, like the infamous Pfarrers' Initiative.

Also, Fr. Wolfgang Beinert, who's written an unfortunate book about the SSPX, disparaged a statement by the German District Superior that the truths of the Faith are unchanging as "bourgeois stubbornness", but what one can expect from the Archdiocese of Vienna.

Edit: with a h/t to the Duke.  It will be tempting for some overly friendly individuals to want to grant the benefit of the doubt to the frequently anti-Catholic New York Times.  That's not our purpose here.  They've never been lacking for malice toward the Catholic Church, and this time is no exception.

A little research and perhaps a stronger religion desk would have left this story where it belongs.

The document in question was written nearly four centuries after Christ's death and resurrection and is fragmentary, referring to Christ's "wife".  The article in the Times doesn't address the fact that Christ is often referred to as bridegroom or the spouse of the Church, but He is indeed referred to that way in Christian writing.  And it didn't stop the journalist from speculating about possible changes in the Church's teachings.

The faded papyrus fragment is smaller than a business card, with eight lines on one side, in black ink legible under a magnifying glass. Just below the line about Jesus having a wife, the papyrus includes a second provocative clause that purportedly says, “she will be able to be my disciple.”

The finding was made public in Rome on Tuesday at an international meeting of Coptic scholars by Karen L. King, a historian who has published several books about new Gospel discoveries and is the first woman to hold the nation’s oldest endowed chair, the Hollis professor of divinity.

It also needs to be noted that these allegations are frequently published by Freemasons who suppose that Christ is in the blood line of all the ruling houses of Europe.

New Head of USCCB Peace and Human Development from Christendom College

Edit: The new head of the US Bishops' Department of Justice, Peace and Human Development will be different in tone and in inclination to his predecessor and a former history professor one of the last remaining  Catholic colleges in the United States, Christendom College in Front Royal, Virginia.  This from Catholic News Agency.

From 2004-2005, he was vice president for campus ministry and leadership formation of the team-based evangelization program aimed toward students on college campuses, Fellowship of Catholic University Students (FOCUS) in Denver.

Dr. Reyes has served on the staff of Christendom College in Front Royal, Va. as an assistant professor of history and later as vice president of academic affairs from 1998-2004.

In 2000, he received a doctorate in European history from the University of Notre Dame and a bachelor of arts degree in history from the University of Michigan in 1990.

Dr. Reyes and his wife Stephanie have seven children.

(kreuz.net) On November 3rd thousands of Traditionalists from throughout the world are coming to a Mass in the Old Rite in St. Peter's.

On the 10th of September the organizers from the Roman parish Trinità dei Pellegrini, which is directed by the Priestly Society of St. Peter,  made the event public.

Widely promoted

The organizer of the pilgrimage is the site "Coetus Internationalis Pro Summorum Pontificum'.  It operates as a collaboration of various Catholic organizations.

The clerical assistant of the pilgrimage is a well-known French priest, Fr. Claude Barthe.

From Germany there's a group pilgrimaging from the lay organization 'Pro Missa Tridentina'.

Who Will Celebrate?

At the press conference it wasn't revealed who would celebrate the Mass.

That was a sentence from the well-informed blog 'messinlatino.it' left open for speculation.

It read there that the pilgrimage would go down in Church history, if the rumors about who the celebrant is to be were valid.

Marriage Defenders Attacked and Spit on at Minnesota Gettogether

Edit: this is from the Marriage Minnesota campaign and their experiences of some, what might be described as typical Minnesotans. 

Same-sex "marriage" supporters assaulted our volunteers at the recent Minnesota State Fair. 

A 53-year-old female staff member was spit on - another volunteer was pushed over. And look at the photo below of this gay "marriage" extremist wearing an “Exterminate Christians One Bullet at a Time” T-shirt. Nobody should have to deal with a thug like that.

 One woman even bragged about spitting in the lemonade of a person who had a "Vote Yes" campaign t-shirt on.  The fair decided to take no action.  One brave Minnesotan even spit on a 53 year old campaign worker.  One courageous female had this to say:

Meanwhile, a 22-year-old female campaign intern was glittered, and a person even commented about her on our Facebook page. He said, “Wow. I hope these two (expletive) end up ditch-side on the news one day.”

In a message to Pope Benedict XVI. on the 24th of September, who is currently on his travel abroad in Lebanon, they ask the head of the church to demand from the international community a peaceful solution for Syria. The current conflict is destroying the country and bringing poverty and despair to the people.

For more than two months, the city is located in the center of the fighting between the Syrian army and armed opposition groups, say the Catholic bishops of Aleppo. In this situation, we have refrained from participating in the Pope's Lebanon-visit and to remain at the side of the Syrian believers. Promoting Holy Scripture for youth:  A Polish priest takes an unusual route

Poland (kath.net)  A polish chaplain is making an appeal for bible reading in an unusual way. [While wearing a cassock or in regular street clothes, the chaplain cuts a rather secular figure.]  With a rap song which has already received a hundred thousand hits, the priest is attempting to bring youth in the the church.  Jakub Bartczak is the chaplain in the Lower Saxon city of Breslau and sings a song for the bible. "Read Holy Scripture, man."  The news broadcaster TVN 24 explained about Bartczak, that he had already been performing music before he entered seminary.  In the mean time his own Diocese has also put the video on their homepage.

France: Screening of Film About Archbishop Lefebvre

On Saturday the 29th of September, the film Marcel Lefebvre, Archbishop in stormy times will be shown in public for the first time. This film retraces the life of the founder of the Society of St. Pius X based on the unpublished testimonials of those who knew him, including numerous documents from the archives. There are a couple of new appointments and Episcopal acts which are encouraging.  The first one is the appointment of the new Bishop of Lincoln Nebraska, who is probably a Traditionalist. We are told that he spent a period of discernment at Fontgambault and was a student of Dr. John Senior who was close to Monsignor Lefebvre.

Dealing with the Past: The altar is the successor to a block of stone that was an eloquent testimony to the failure of the liturgical reform after the Second Vatican Council.

(Kreuz.net) Since the 6th of September there has been a new altar in the church of the Trappist Abbey of Mariawald. The Abbey is located in the vicinity of the 4400-population town of Heimbach - fifty kilometers southeast of Aachen.

The church was blown up in World War II. During a renovation in the years of 1963/64, a grinding table in the form of a rudely hewn stone block was installed.

In the neo-Gothic space of the church, it looked like chalk and cheese.

A gift from heaven has now been given to the Abbey, a neo-Gothic wooden altar with matching six chandeliers. It harmonizes perfectly with the church.

With its modest beauty it is appropriate in a special way to the celebration of the traditional rite.

Even then thought of as reform

It's too expensive a Mass?

For the past few years, the Diocese was regularly visited by priests from the Society of St. Peter from abroad.

Then the Diocesan administration explained that the Catholic laity ought to finance these visits.

Actually, among the Traditionalists are mostly young families with many children.  They don't have the financial means.

The Old Mass as a Magnet 

For the spiritual formation this situation is a catastrophe.

Till now the Traditionalist of the Diocese have even produced vocations.

Many converts have found their way to the Church through the Old Mass.

The unbeneficial influence of Opus Dei

Bishop Teemu Sippo (65) rules the Diocese of Helsinki.

He runs a hard Old Liberal course.

It is no contradiction that his General Vicar is a priest of the Personal Prelature of Opus Dei.

He is the Spanish born Fr. Ramon Goyarrola (43).

Opus Dei has no potential for reform

Priests of Opus Dei are also active in the Diocesan administration.

It is a publicly stated goal of Opus Dei to succeed Bishop Sippo's Diocese.

With the introduction of the Personal Prelature into the Diocese things haven't improved in the least.

English Instead of Latin

The most recent step:  The Diocesan administration want to cancel the only Novus Ordo Eucharistic Celebration in the Latin Language, which has been held every Sunday in the Cathedral since the end of the Pastoral Council.

The service is well attended.  It takes place at 9:45.

In its place there will be an English Eucharistic Celebration, although there is already an English Mass on Sundays in Helsinki.

Everything upside down

Since the appointment of the Bishop and General Vicar, female ministers have been introduced.

The interior of a parish church in Helsinki was destroyed under the pretext of restoration.

New order children -- and youth -- were sent on a summer camp with the homosexual friendly Lutherans.

Even the Diocesan festival took place this year -- even on the Feast of the Assumption -- in a protestantic "church" building.

The Problem is in Rome

The Diocese of Helsinki finds itself in a difficult financial situation.  It doesn't receive the privilege of state taxes like the German church does.

Otherwise, it is stuck on the course with the Old Liberals, who are not know  to engage themselves for the Church.

Because of the financial need Msgr Sippo has to have his residence moved to the former retreat house "Stella Maris" outside of Helsinki.

From there he can indulge himself in his interest in a mindless ecumenism.

Because he has named countless Bishops in the mean time, who think and operate similarly.

Today is the Anniversary of Summorum Pontificum and The Feast of the Holy Cross

Edit: Those of us who are Traditionalists wish to thank the Holy Father for the generous Motu Proprio related to the Immemorial Mass of All Ages. Today is not only the great feast of the Holy Cross, but it's also the anniversary of Summorum Pontificum:

Quaecumque vero a Nobis hisce Litteris Apostolicis Motu proprio datis decreta sunt, ea omnia firma ac rata esse et a die decima quarta Septembris huius anni, in festo Exaltationis Sanctae Crucis, servari iubemus, contrariis quibuslibet rebus non obstantibus

15 Sisters of the Community of St. John Took Perpetual Vows -- New Monastery in Cordoba

(Madrid) 15 Sisters of the Community of St. John have made their last vows on the last 29th June in the parish of La Rambla in Cordoba.  The solemn profession was on  the occasion of the 100th Birthday of Father Marie Dominique  Philippe who died in 2006, whom the sisters consider their founder. The sisters are from Austria, England, France and Spain, where many family members were on hand to celebrate and witness the festive occasion of life surrender and consecration to the Lord.

The Mass was celebrated by  the Bishop of Cordoba, Demetrio Fernandez.  Bishop celebrated in the presence of the Vicar General and the Rector of the Seminary of the Diocese. The sisters have settled recently in the Diocese of Cordoba. 25 sisters of the Community live in the monastery near Cordoba  and worldwide there are now 150 sisters who lead a contemplative life, but without examination. The female branch of the St. John's community was founded on 8 December of 1982 and has been recognized since 1994 as a diocesan congregation.

Unlike other religious communities  St. John's puts both the same emphasis of importance the habits of both their female and the male branches.

The male branch, which now has some 600 brethren, arose from a merger of theology students to the Dominican priest and professor at the University of Freiburg in Uechtland, Marie Dominique Philippe, which was formed in 1975 and is recognized canon law since 1987. The mother house is in Rimont in France. He now has offices throughout Asia, Africa, America and Europe. In Austria, the Priory Queen Mary in Marchegg and in Switzerland, the Priory of Saint Jean in Geneva. In the Netherlands and Belgium, there are both brothers and sister communities of the Congregation.

Edit:  The whole thing has an air of the Gnostic, legends of porcine craftsmen constructing dwellings, and of the lairs of fallen men who serve ancient and malevolent powers they fear but don't understand.  It's a tendency in public art to avoid representing anything, no battle, no spiritual triumph or even a mere scientific one, just a couple of disconnected inanimate objects whose purpose is to confuse you at best, at worst, lower your spiritual aspirations down to a purely material plane.

What do these rather amorphous and primitive structures have to do with Benedictine worship?   Perhaps a word from Catholic World Report's John Buescher can throw some light on these bizarre constructions, which reveal to our mind the gnostic associations of puritanism:

Nevertheless, there is a harder-edged answer to the question of the puppets’ purpose: If it is “Puritan,” why this explosion of celebratory paraphernalia in the puppets and costumes? It derives from the “apophatic” meaning of the puppets: as instruments in deconstructing traditional forms that stand between the individual and God. “Forms,” like “dogmas,” are, to the modern mind, idols, and must be taken down. The traditional form of the liturgy, thus, is the enemy of faith, and the puppets invade its sanctum, as agents of iconoclasm. In short, the puppets are intended as mockeries, speaking (mutely) truth to power (Silence = Death!), meant to pull down the temple in the name of the people, acting in the liberty of the free spirit. They are meant to unmask hypocrisy—regarded as the ancient tradition in its entirety.

COLLEGEVILLE – An unusual structure is going up this week at the entrance to St. John’s University.  Artist Patrick Dougherty is leading a project to build a series of five chapels made out of sticks, inspired by the campus.

He says he wants his artwork to be accessible to everyone.

Dougherty is spending a three week residency at the St. John’s Arboretum.  He says there are 10-15 people working on the sculpture each day.

Once it’s done, it will stand for about two years.

TFP Defends Marriage in Minnesota

Edit: The Society for Tradition, Family and Private Property has been campaigning fervently for the truth in Minnesota and has found a lot of support in various places, whether at the State Capital, the Suburbs or in one of the more troubled neighborhoods of St. Paul. Polish Church Launches Magazine on Exorcism

(Warsaw) In Poland, the world's first magazine was published on exorcism, which is at news stands. The monthly magazine titled Egzorcysta (Exorcist), whose first edition was printed in an edition of 15,000 copies, has 62 pages.

Some Polish Catholic priests were brought together by a publisher to launch the magazine project, according reports by the Agence France Presse. The magazine costs 10 zloty, which works out at approximately 2, 3 Euros. The headlines of the first edition are "Satan, a Reality" and "New Age, the Spiritual Vacuum". Poland currently has 120 priests who are officially appointed as exorcists, as the priest Aleksander Posacki, professor of philosophy and theology, a demonologist and exorcist, explained on Monday at a press conference, in which the magazine was presented.

15 years ago there were only four official exorcists in Poland, says Posacki. This large increase was put in context by the priest that has tried in one of the most Catholic countries in Europe to expel Godless Communism with turbo-capitalism after 1989. Capitalism creates a market of opportunities and with it the opportunity to make the occult shops.

Aleksander Posacki is a member of an international Exorcist Commission of the Catholic Church. At the press conference he pointed out the inability of the various schools of psychology and psychiatry to deal with the phenomenon of possession and Umsessenheit because conventional treatments do not help.

Another Exorcist and staff of the new journal, the priest Andryej Grefkowicz, said that there were so many requests that the waiting time in Warsaw amounts to three months. The priests work with psychiatrists to first rule out the possibility of a mental illness. Italian Director: Catholic Influence Prevents the Legalization of Euthanasia in Italy

The film is based on true events. In 2009, the then 38-year-old Eluana Englaro had died after 17 years in a vegetative state after a court had allowed her father to stop the artificial feeding of his daughter. The case had then engaged the Italian public for weeks. He would take no position in the film, but showed the state of Italian society. He could answer the question of whether he was for or against euthanasia, neither with a clear yes or no, said Bellocchio, who described himself as not religious. "I am in any case for life. Edit: Coupled with more militant films like Spain's "The Sea Inside", there is a film with a similar aim, with a more subtle and ponderous approach to changing hearts and minds.  For if you can't fight something head on, it's better to chew on the edges with a film which panders to people's emotions while showing tremendous respect for the deep-seated Catholic sensibilities you face.
