Papal Curial Reform with Contradiction

(Rome) The Summit curial reform approaches. Yet Pope Francis continues in his usual manner, "as he persecuted the good and promoted the bad in some cases" says the Vatican expert Sandro Magister.
At the same time, the Pope gave the ecclesiastical courts worldwide statements that have put things in a new direction with respect to marriage bond resolution.  

The Reform of the Curia, Which Holds Little Interest to the Pope

From the 9th-11th February the ninth meeting of the C9 Cardinal Council convened. After the meeting on the 13th and 14th of February there will follow a regular Cardinal Consistory, which will deal with the work and proposals of the C9 Council.
Eleven months ago  Pope Francis and the Cardinal Consistory remained behind closed doors in order to confront the issue of the family. The new family agenda was presented by Cardinal Walter Kasper. (By papal order)  This after two days of heated verbal exchanges. Much of the Cardinals felt almost overwhelmed. The conflict was continued at the Synod of Bishops in the fall of 2014.
Next month, Pope Francis will call the Cardinals together for the second ordinary consistory of his pontificate. This time, instead of the family, curial reform is on the agenda and will renew again, albeit at a different level, a, expectedly bitter conflict behind closed doors.
A month after his election  Pope Francis established an eight member Council of Cardinal advisors on 13 April 2013 that he wanted to advise him on the reform of the Roman Curia and in the management of the universal Church. Since the appointment of a new Cardinal Secretary of State, the Council was expanded to nine members. Since then the Council of Cardinal Advisers has been convened eight times for three days. Pope Francis was always present, except for the period of the mid-week general audiences.

Not All Proposals "Presentable"

Since then, many reform ideas are on the table, which are mutually exclusive in part. There are at least as many as the C9 Council of Cardinal Advisers has members. Some of them are not only contradictory but "not presentable," says Magister. The latter include the idea that different institutions and tribunals of the Vatican judiciary, including the Apostolic Penitentiary,  could be formed into a new Law Dicastry.  Thus, the separation of powers would  be overriden in a serious way.
Pope Francis has not yet commented on the reform plans. For now, he seems to have the C8 and presently C9  at work, promoting  a new collegiality. As a form of occupational therapy? The Pope was already known last year that he did not intend by 2016 to address the specific reforms. After his election, he established the Council, but has since  ruled as a Jesuit Father General. He alone decides when and what he wants. Whatever comes to mind, he goes on, collegiality or no.

Christmas Slap in Curia

When Francis on December 22, invited the Roman Curia to the Christmas reception, he administered a tangible slap to his closest associates instead of Christmas wishes. He threw their "diseases" publicly  in their faces. Fifteen pathologies the Pope said his staff suffered. "One meaner than the other," says Magister. Comparing the papal diagnosis with the papal decisions about layoffs or promotion in office, one can only marvel.

Pontifical Dismissal

The best known of the disempowered ones is Cardinal Raymond Leo Burke. Among the Vaticanistas there are different public assessments,  so Burke's attitude to leaving is dependent on the Vaticanist's understanding, or the Vaticanist's inclination to Pope Francis.  However, all agree that this is a snubbing in the practice of the Holy See, an affront to the individual opinions. The eminent canonist whose competence and moral straightness is respectfully acknowledged even by his opponents, was deported to a meaningless position in the leadership of the Church as the patron of an ornamental guard of honor.

Pontifical Promotions

Among the most incredible promotions continues to include the appointment of Msgr. Battista Ricca as a domestic prelate and personal delegate of the Pope at the Vatican Bank IOR.  There have been serious concerns raised about Ricca  because of his dubious way of life.   As a Vatican diplomat, he had  given "three Apostolic Nunciatures occasion for scandal", most recently in Montevideo, where he had taken his illicit room mate. Despite the entry of his superiors to Rome, he was indeed withdrawn from active diplomatic service, but  landed miraculously softly as director of the Roman Houses of the Vatican. Msgr. Ricca took over the management of the guesthouse Santa Marta and the guest house on Via della Scrofa. Also, ultimately, the diplomatic service, since in the guest houses accommodate important guests are  from around the world. He made many Cardinals of friends who spent the night there, including the current Pope, who made him his confidant in terms of the Vatican Bank in June 2013.

From the Fight Against "Gay Lobby" in the Vatican to Homosexual Promotion?

As a trait of the Pope, it seems to be clear that he no longer takes back previous decisions. Whoever falls from grace, he remains. Whoever is in favor, also remains.  It's truly amazing is in this context that Pope Francis in June 2013 lamented the existence of a "gay lobby" in the Vatican, against whom he wanted to proceed. In reality, the Papacy in the public eye has engaged in the unprecedented promotion of the homosexual lobby, and not just in the Vatican. This was followed by the appointment of Msgr. Ricca, who has been known as "the prelate gay lobby". As if offering a superlative for the media demand at the end of July 2013, he uttered the controversial sentence of this pontificate: "Who am I to judge?" And as a highlight to date Archbishop Bruno Forte, had been named by Francis for Special Secretary of the Synod of Bishops, as a recognition of homosexuality by the Church in the interim report of the Synod. The Synod Fathers rejected this passage, but Pope Francis still had them  published in the paper, and  adopted since it was an intergral part and the rejection of the synod only one accident that could be remedied in the second part of the Synod of Bishops in October 2015. At least this fatal impression must arise. Especially as it confirms that this approach  not  a go it alone by Archbishop Forte, but  agreed and approved by Pope advance.

Synod of Bishops as an Instrument of Pontifical Disruption?

Pope Francis seems to want to make the Synod of Bishops, a permanent institution. This is speculation for the time being, but the evidence suggests it. It initiates discussions and lets them run wild, which had been declared closed by its predecessors. This includes the admission of remarried divorcees to the sacraments and the discussion on the approval of a second marriage.
Today in the Church the more or less public, far more violent undercurrent of smoldering conflict was not being imposed by external circumstances on the Church. It has been triggered directly by Pope Francis. He convened the Synod of Bishops on the family, although this was no objective need. He appointed Cardinal Kasper as sole rapporteur, knowing full well what Kasper would recite before the astonished cardinals.

Resistance of the Margins: Paradox or Emblematic?

A remarkable, but perhaps not accidental detail is that the new family agenda and the paradoxical appurtenance  of "homosexuality" especially in the bishops of the "margins", particularly in Africa, parts of Asia and Eastern Europe where there is the fiercest resistance. Those "margins", Pope Francis has so often emphasized.
After the second part of the Synod of Bishops in nine months, the Pope will decide as an absolute monarch. Francis, who likes to be called "Bishop of Rome" and is hardly known as Pope, to the astonishment of all,  cried at the end of the Synod of Bishops in obvious anger at the synodal resistance of Cardinal Burke and "marginal bishops" to the astonishment of all that it according to canon law  he was entitled to the sole decision-making authority.

Master: "Obvious Sympathy for Progressive Wing"

The obvious sympathies of Francis fall to the progressive wing, which is led by the bishops of the German-speaking countries with their bulging coffers. The flirtation with the Orthodoxy of the East applies only to their liberal deviations from the Latin Church, the second and third marriage and the non-celibate diocesan clergy.
The progressive sympathy is otherwise more striking by conflicting signals of the pontificate clearly filtered out. The contradictions heard in sympathy for Pope Paul VI. The encyclical Humanae vitae he repeatedly stressed, praised and praised by his predecessor as a "prophet". Hardly an encyclical in Church history has come across more violent resistance and having been rejected by a number of Western bishops' conferences, including those of the German states.

In Theory, Orthodox Paradox in Practice?

Heretical Father Richard McBrien Theologian Dies

Edit:  Dear God, please send us a sign.

NCR is not offering any prayers for the repose of his soul, and there is no sign that he ever did penance for his many years in the service of a dark lord.   In fact, NCR is embarking on a virtual canonization of one of the most unrepentant, unchastened, prideful and heretical theologians of  our day.  We expect endless laudatory praise coming from the usual propaganda organs. (The devil's own media will surely miss his services.)

It is to be hoped that his death will signal the continuing decline of the Modernist hegemony on Catholic education in the West.

It's an ecclesiastical crime, a testimony to the bankruptcy and cowardice of American Catholicism  that Our Lady's name was associated with this theological gremlin all these years.
Fr. Richard McBrien, who as a scholar brought distinction to a university theology department and who as an author and often-interviewed popular expert explained the Catholic church to the wider world, died early Sunday morning. He was 78. 
McBrien had been seriously ill for several years and had moved recently from South Bend, Ind., to his native Connecticut. 
It would be difficult to find a figure comparable in making understandable to a broad public the basic beliefs and traditions of the Roman Catholic church.

Pope: Many Marriages Are Invalid Because of a Lack of Faith

And the marriage process is associated with the sacrament of marriage. I myself wish so much that all processes would be free!" He was pleased to see that the Rota for people in financial difficulties, a free legal aid agency is available.

Bishop Tebartz-van Elst: New Job in Vatican

Rome (kath.net) Obviously, there should be a "comeback" for the former Limburger Bishop Franz-Peter Tebartz van Elst after 15 months of a forced break. This was reported by the Bild newspaper on Friday. The petition, addressed to Cardinal Vincent Nichols, the Archbishop of Westminster, is being organised by the historians whose efforts led to the king’s remains being found under a car park in Leicester.
Under present plans Richard III, who died in the Battle of Bosworth in 1485, before the Reformation, will be buried at the Anglican cathedral in Leicester on March 26.
But Philippa Langley, leader of the Looking for Richard project, said the burial should take into account Richard III’s Catholic faith.
She said: “It seems this former king and head of state is to be treated as a scientific specimen right up to and including the point at which he is laid in his coffin.”
Dr John Ashdown-Hill, a historian who worked to identify the bones, has also called for a Catholic burial, saying: “There is a lot of evidence that Richard III had a very serious personal faith. If Richard III had not have died, maybe the Anglican church would never have existed.”
However, a joint statement by Leicester Cathedral and the Catholic Diocese of Nottingham said these concerns were “fundamentally misplaced”.
The statement said: “There is no requirement in the Catholic tradition for prayers to be said at the coffining of human remains, including those of a monarch. The arrangements agreed between the university and the cathedral have the full support of the Catholic Church.”
Ecumenical services will surround the event, with Cardinal Nichols preaching a service of compline on the day the king’s remains are received into the cathedral.
The cardinal will also celebrate a Requiem Mass the next day at a nearby Catholic parish.

"The Army of Mohammed is Awakened" -- Some Dead, 45 Destroyed Churches: The Price of Satire

(Niamey) A high price was paid for the printing of the Muhammad caricature on the front page of radical left-wing satire sheet Charlie Hebdo. A price that others had to pay, not by the print makers in Paris. While the West, particularly the France of Hollande's "republican march"  insisted that troding on the religious beliefs of others, the bill of the media mockery of human life is presented elsewhere. A bill that is paid at  thousands of kilometers distance with the blood of those whose only "fault" is to confess Christ. The deadly interaction between Islamism and relativism could be hardly more  brutally expressed.
In a message to the nation, which was distributed on 17 January,  Niger President Mahamadou Issoufou announced that four burned bodies were found in the remains of burned churches in the capital of Niamey. A fifth dead was found in Zinder where last Friday a wild rally against Charlie Hebdo spun out of control. In total, there are at least ten dead. With a hail of stones, Muslim protesters hurled stones at police before them. Two more churches were burned in Maradi, one in Gouré, three  in the capital alone where twelve of fourteen Catholic churches were "profaned, pillaged and destroyed," as Archbishop Michel Cartatéguy reported with tears in his eyes. "Everything is burned, it is nothing more, everything is in ruins and ashes," said the archbishop to Vatican Radio . A total of 128 injured people have reported injury. 189 people were arrested.

The capital's cathedral was secured with great difficulty through a police cordon against attacking Islamists. Although the authorities had issued a ban on meetings,  a thousand Muslims tried to storm the Episcopal Church. They carried banners that read: "The army of Muhammad has awakened" and "I sacrifice my father and my mother for our prophets."

Or is Life Just Satire?

"Those who persecute the Christian,  understood nothing,"  said   President Issoufou trying to smooth everything over. Interior Minister Hassoumi Massoudou announced that among the demonstrators, flags of Nigerian Islamist Boko Haram militia appeared. The victims in Niger (17 million inhabitants, of which 80 per cent Muslims) as in other Islamic countries, have no personal guilt. They have no share in those who regard the disdain of religion as "law", despite  and in spite of all. Do the many dead touch the conscience of those who are scribbling around with their pencils in the air?  Whether someone asks pardon of  the Christians of Niger or at least sympathizes with them that mourn their dead and mourn before the ruins of their destroyed churches? Or, for some is life just a satire after all?

Feminist Theologians  Accuse Pope of "Antiquated Modes of Thought"

In 1958 Lazzati got a chair of Christian Literature of Antiquity at the Catholic University in Milan. In 1961  Archbishop of Milan Montini made him the editor of the Catholic newspaper "L'Italia". After his election as Pope, Paul VI. offered Lazzati more posts. In 1968, he leaves the chair to his assistant Raniero Cantalamessa and Rector of the Catholic University. It was an office which he held until 1983. He died in 1986, and  in 1991 with the help of the Archbishop of Milan, Carlo Maria Martini,  the beatification process began. On July 5, 2014 Pope Francis recognized Giuseppe Lazzati recognized as a Servant of God.

"Return" to Regain 1789

Eritrea Now Has Its Own Archeparchy from the Ethiopian Catholic Church

(Rome) In the dispute within the  Ethiopian Catholic Church  united with Rome, Pope Francis has intervened with the establishment of a separate Metropolitan Church of Eritrea. The construction of the new Archeparchy of Asmara separates the territories of the states Ethiopia and Eritrea by churches. Thus, the last overriding differences are to be overcome.

In 1450   the first union with Rome took place  because of Muslim attempts at conquest. followed in 1603 with another union  by Emperor Asnaf Sagad II., but  ended with the fall of the Emperor in 1632. Only in the 19th century were lasting unions on a small scale  achieved, which were promoted during the Italian colonial rule from 1894 in Eritrea and from 1936 also in Ethiopia. In 1930  the establishment of the first Ethiopian Catholic Ordinariate was established.
Over the years, several dioceses  were originated. Now Pope Francis has divided the former ecclesiastical province of Addis Ababa by the establishment of a second ecclesiastical province of Eritrea with three suffragans. Its membership includes about six percent of the Eritrean population. The Ecclesiastical Province of Addis Ababa remain two suffragan dioceses. They contain less than one percent of the Ethiopian population.
Unlike Latin Metropolitans, the Uniates have far-reaching powers    within their area of jurisdiction.

Death After Papal Mass in Philippines

Strong winds at the airport broke anchorages and caused a serious accident.

Tacloban (kath.net/ KAP)   Pope Francis' visit in Tacloban has been overshadowed by a death. After the Papal Mass, strong winds knocked over the moorings for one of the enormous loud speakers that were built at the airport, as Vatican Radio reported. It fell on a woman who succumbed to her injuries later. Philippine bishops assured the local media that Pope Francis learned her name, and pray for them.

Islamic Terror and "Charlie Hebdo": Archbishop Wants to Decriminalize Blasphemy

(Paris) The terror attack in Paris was justified by the insult of Muhammad and executed in the name of Allah.  One day before the assassination religious leaders, including the Catholic Archbishop of Strasbourg, called for the decriminalization of the offense of blasphemy. 
" Blasphemy is directly opposed to the second commandment. It consists in uttering against God - inwardly or outwardly - words of hatred, reproach, or defiance; in speaking ill of God; in failing in respect toward him in one's speech; in misusing God's name. St. James condemns those "who blaspheme that honorable name [of Jesus] by which you are called. 78 The prohibition of blasphemy extends to language against Christ's Church, the saints, and sacred things. It is also blasphemous to make use of God's name to cover up criminal practices, to reduce peoples to servitude, to torture persons or put them to death. The misuse of God's name to commit a crime can provoke others to repudiate religion.

The Catechism does not apply to all Catholics?

Too bad that this only seems to apply to the Catechism today, but is no longer a part of the Catholic Church. Just one day before the Islamic attack on the editor of Charlie Hebdo in Paris, with remarkable timing, asked Archbishop Jean Pierre Grallet of Strasbourg along with Protestants, Jews and Muslims, the official deletion of blasphemy as a criminal offense in the Criminal Code. Such an offense no longer exists in secular France for a long time. Since the Alsace and German Lorraine was annexed in 1920 as a result of the First World War in France, there still exist continuity with parts of the German legal system.
The law currently in force provides for up to three years in prison for one  who  "incites a nuisance by blasphemy in public with offensive intent". In 2013, the  Ligue de Défense des Muslumans Judicial cited to this this penal provision in the Court of Strasbourg and display against cartoons of "Charlie Hebdo".
The procedure has been canceled due to formal errors. The Muslim League sees this lack of willingness to apply the law in force. For the rest of France, the offense against God since the time of the French Revolution is already no longer a criminal offense.

Archbishop Grallet: The Criminal Statute has Become "Obsolete"

Bianco and the other members of the "Monitoring Center" congratulated the religious leaders for the insight that it is "an exaggerated determination"  operative in the penal provision and this is an "attack on freedom of speech". Nicolas Cadène, the rapporteur of the "Monitoring Center" stressed that the religious leaders "have even suggested that we bring it to an end" because they consider the provision has "become obsolete". Nicolas Cadène, also a socialist, is a staff member of the cabinet of Environmental and Energy Minister Segolene Royal.
In the official opinion of the Observatoire de la laïcité  they name the "values" of "Liberty, Equality, Fraternity" as "one and indivisible, secular, democratic and social republic," in France. And it was brought simultaneously in comparison to the 2011 massacre of Anders Breivik.
A part of the Catholic Church, including the Archbishop of Strasbourg, holds it in common with the "Monitor" as it being "outdated"  to put the deliberate blasphemy to God under penalty, although Scripture, the Magisterium and the Tradition of the Church say otherwise. A view of the Catechism enough. Corrispondenza Romana commented on the events with an ironic rhetorical question: "Who knows if you will, sooner or later, reshuffle the cards in calling for the convening of an extraordinary Synod of Bishops?"

Neo-Cardinal Pimiento: "One Can Tolerate Gay Marriage"

(Bogota) He is nearing 100 and will be almost the oldest member of the College of Cardinals, when  Pope Francis will put the purple biretta on his head on February 14.  We are talking about Colombia's neo-Cardinal José de Jesús Rodriguez Pimiento, for almost 20 years emeritus Archbishop of Manizales.
In the current issue of the weekly magazine Semana dated January 11, an interview with  the Cardinal who will turn 96 years old was published in spe. The interview was published under the title "In the name of Francis."

José de Jesús Pimiento: I have worked in various dioceses and given stimulus to the social work of the Church. I have coordinated the Accion Social Accion Catolica and  done definite work to assist the victims of the tragedy of Nevado del Ruiz. I have twice led  the Episcopal Conference, have been involved with the Holy See on the reform of the Concordat and worked in favor of implementing the Second Vatican Council in Colombia. I could not do everything what I wanted, but at least I moved ideas.
Semana: And what did you do?
José de Jesús Pimiento: I helped, instead of exploitation and capitalism, to solve the problems of the poor, like the excessive accumulation of goods that cause misery in the world.
Semana: Could the Pope also send a message of peace to Colombia?
José de Jesús Pimiento: I do not know if he plans to. In any case, my appointment is a call to Colombia to better understand its spiritual values ​​and preserve them.
Semana: Do you agree generally with Francis?
José de Jesús Pimiento: I was touched because he stimulates the life of the Church. He is a creative shepherd, and knows his thinking on needs   time to apply. Today we encourage the values ​​that humanity needs.

Born in 1919 in Colombia, José de Jesús Rodriguez Pimiento  was ordained a priest in 1941.  In1955 Pope Pius XII appointed him Titular Bishop of Apollinis in Lydia (now Turkey) and Auxiliary Bishop of Pasto. In 1959 he was appointed by Pope John XXIII. to the See of Monteria. As a diocesan bishop, Msgr. Pimiento took part in the rest of the Second Vatican Council. In 1964 he was appointed by Pope Paul VI.  as Bishop of Garzón-Neiva and in 1975 as Archbishop of Manizales. In 1996, Pope John Paul II. acccepted the age-related resignation of the then 77 year old  archbishop. As a delegate, he participated in the II. And III. General Conference of Latin American Bishops, In 1968 in Medellin (Colombia) and 1979 in Puebla de los Angeles (Mexico), he was elected Chairman of the Colombian Bishops' Conference 1972.   It was an office which he held two consecutive periods. After his retirement he returned to pastoral care and worked as a missionary.  For several months he managed his home diocese as Apostolic Administrator. In 2005 he celebrated his golden jubilee as bishop.

Jesuit Periodical Removes Charlie Hebdo Cartoons Without Comment

Edit: it's truly a sad time when Jesuit has become synonymous with blasphemy and sacrilege.

(Paris), the French Jesuit magazine Études has deleted the pieces by the anti-Christian Charlie Hebdo- caricatures  from its website.
Études had made ​​"solidarity" with the victims of the attack in Paris by publishing caricatures of the radical left-wing satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo against Christianity, the Catholic Church and Benedict XVI set (see separate report ). The article with the cartoons were  also to appear in the printed February issue of the Monthly Magazine.
In contrast, there arose violent protest, which prompted the editorial staff headed by the Jesuit François EUVE to delete the article without comment.

Venezuelan Bishops Warn Pope Francis About the Evils of Socialism

Edit: an anonymous poster made us aware of this from American Thinker , reporting on a story originally from the Investor's Business Daily, that there are some bishops, in Latin America of all places, who are being critical of Pope Francis' championing of Socialist ideas.  Who better to criticize those ideas than bishops who have to live with the realities, hardship, persecution of a Socialist country every single day?

Venezuela's bishops Monday blamed "Marxist socialism" and "communism" by name for the horrors and chaos gripping their country, according to a story in El Universal.

The bishops said the long lines of people trying to buy food and other basic necessities and the constant rise in prices are the result of the government's decision to "impose a political-economic system of socialist, Marxist or communist," which is "totalitarian and centralist" and "undermines the freedom and rights of individuals and associations."

The Venezuelan bishops specifically stated that the private sector was critical for the well being of the country. The document, read by Monsignor Diego Padron in Spanish, said the country needs "a new entrepreneurial spirit with audacity and creativity."

Jesuit Periodical Publishes Anti-Christian Caricatures by "Charlie Hebdo" Out of "Solidarity"

(Paris), the French Jesuit journal Études published, in "solidarity" with the victims of the attack in Paris, anti-Catholic cartoons of the radical left-wing satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo. In contrast, the Jesuit Father Jean-François Thomas took objection.
"I have no illusions about the effect of my protest, but I still want him to put it forward, because I know that a considerable part of the Jesuits in my community feels the same, but can not express or does not dare to express."  With these words Father Thomas, a French Jesuit, began  a letter which he sent to the competent religious superiors to protest against the Jesuit magazine Études.

Scurrilous "Solidarity"

The solidarity with the victims of the attack on Paris during these  days of highest media coverage, is yielding strange blooms.  Catholic voices warn of false solidarity with the anti-Christian ideology of radical left-wing blade.
Unlimited, however, is the "solidarity" of the Jesuit magazine Études who made ​​the decision to reprint "some cartoons relating to the Catholic Church."  This magazine will show their "solidarity with our brothers and  the other victims who were  murdered," they said.
One of the four printed Charlie Hebdo-cartoons shows the crucified Jesus, asking "to remove the nails," so that he could take part in the conclave. Another cartoon was a salute to and  editorial about the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI. It shows the Pope in homosexual outfit saying, "Free at last". The Jesuit magazine did not publish the most blasphemous among all the anti-Christian Charlie Hebdo cartoons, those against the Holy Trinity. We do not even wish to give words to this representation.

Freedom of blasphemy?

"We share, so I hope at least, not the 'values' of this weekly newspaper," writes Father Thomas. "The horror of the attack can not" make us forget that "freedom of expression is not a freedom to insult   believers daily and even to blaspheme God." The Jesuit insists that "there is no anti-blasphemy law" needed, but "some common sense, good taste and a little bit more respect." Humor, even "unpleasant, can make you laugh," but vulgarity, "which is made absolute, is truly lamentable and causes only new hatred and still attracts more hate."

The Society of Jesus is not Charlie Hebdo

The last issue before the assassination speaks volumes. It bristles with cartoons against God, Mary and the birth of Jesus. It is debatable to be able to publish blasphemies against the "right" of the satire newspaper.  "But a Jesuit magazine  who does these things is an outrage. The most heinous is that against Benedict XVI. The ridicule of the drama of the crucifixion is pathetic. I never thought that certain Jesuits could laugh at something like this. Personally, I cry every day because of my sins and because of the suffering of Christians, many persecuted by the editors of Études, have been not nearly defended with the same zeal," said Father Thomas.
Études has been in publication since 1856 and today carries the subtitle "magazine for contemporary culture." The editor since 2013 is the theologian and physicist Father François EUVE SJ. Father EUVE is the holder of Teilhard de Chardin-Chair at the Centre Sèvres, the Jesuit College of Paris. The Chair is funded and awarded by the Fondation Teilhard de Chardin.The Foundation was founded in 1962 and owns the copyright to all the writings of the late Jesuit Pierre Teilhard de Chardin (+1955) and the Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle located in Paris.

Papal Purge: Bishop Coadjutor Assigned to Traditional Diocese of Albenga-Imperia

Bishop Oliveri Celebrates the Old Rite
(Rome) Pope Francis has found a coadjutor for the Bishop of Albenga-Imperia, Msgr. Mario Oliveri with right of succession to the side. As Bishop Oliveri enjoys good health, the papal decision appears as a disempowerment  without disavowing the ruling bishop entirely through impeachment. It is the indirect, more elegant form of impeachment. The direct form was felt by Bishop Rogelio Livieres of Ciudad del Este. A dismissal with no ifs or buts.
A coadjutor, sometimes with right of succession, is an auxiliary device, such as when an incumbent bishop is no longer in a position to fully exercise his office fully for health reasons.  This form is also utilized to correct undesirable developments in a diocese or to  reconcile  a successor fluidly without drastically making  visible a public break.

Heavy State of Tradition in the World and Especially in the Church

No this is occuring in the diocese of Albenga-Imperia Riviera.  The traditional alignment of Bishop Oliveri is undesirable. A minority of the diocesan clergy made fierce resistance to the renewal of the diocese in the Catholic faith, which Bishop Oliveri, by replacing   folk altars in churches with appropriate high altars,  promoting the sacrament of penance, the traditional Rite, establishing old ritual communities, and the unabbreviated preaching the doctrine. Majorities play no role in the church, but it should be noted that the majority of the clergy followed this bishop. The diocese has far and wide the highest number of seminarians who are trained in both forms of the Roman Rite.
But then, Pope Francis took the Chair of Peter and quickly found someone in Liguria to afford the opportunity to get rid of the bishop. They quickly sought the anti-clerical media. The liberal daily, Secolo XIX took over the role of the battering ram. Because of their attitude which is critical of the Church they have already offered skirmish in the past few years  with the bishop. That it was seriously meant, with the intention  to drive Bishop Oliveri from office, became clear  a few days ago even as the German media jumped straight into slander mode.

Standardized Strategy of Slander Against Faithful Church Representatives

The ingredients have long been standardized in the case of orthodox bishops. The spreading of rumors, outraged mention of unproven allegations. There are always enough people who accept any slander willingly.
 Secolo XIX has been well informed about from Church circles by the end of October 2014, announced the appointment of a Coadjutor for Albenga-Imperia. A provisional administration of the diocese and disempowerment of the officiating bishop, which was welcomed by the newspaper. Rome was silent. Startled devout Catholics were mocked as seeing "ghosts" and having, attempting to raise and lift  a "blind" antipathy against the reigning pope.
But the rumor was not a rumor. On January 10, Pope Francis, the previous bishop of Pitigliano-Sovana-Orbetello, Msgr. Guglielmo Borghetti has been sent to the diocese of Albenga-Imperia as Coadjutor with right of succession.

Why the Fear of Tradition?

Two things would appear from the new "purging": Pope Francis applies "tolerance and compassion shown demonstratively"  to everyone, but not for traditional Catholics, so says Secretum meum mihi . Against them he cherishes a "deep-seated inner aversion".  Second, it seems the pope can not bear that bishops have full seminaries and numerous priestly vocations, as soon as they turn to the tradition. Tradition was tolerated only within the separate, manageable and controllable enclosure of "Ecclesia Dei".   But where  tradition leaves this enclosure and radiates into the new ritual Church, they will fight relentlessly as the treatment of the Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate, Bishop Livieres and now Bishop Oliveri show.
"Why are even high church officials, including the Pope, so afraid of  tradition? Why don't they exercise their proverbial cherished tolerance? Is it because it holds up the mirror to them and thus call into question their own life's work and understanding of the Church? On closer examination, even brings them to falter?" asks Secretum meum mihi.  Perhaps because the crisis of vocations and all related implications surrounding the priesthood, Holy  Orders, Sacrament of Penance and the Eucharist, including the considerations and plans for the approval of viri probati (priests who left and are now married), the abolition of celibacy, the admission of women to the diaconate and priesthood could collapse within itself?
On December 22, Pope Francis listed 15 "diseases"  in his Christmas message to the Roman Curia, on which  they suffer. "The action against the small Ligurian diocese has confirmed at least ten  of the fifteen pathologies mentioned by Pope Francis," said Traditio Catholica . But in this case it is the Pope, who seems to have a short memory.
Unlike Bishop Livieres of Paraguay, Bishop Oliveri is taking the papal humiliation in silence, as is common in Europe. Bishop Livieres had been ordered to Rome, but he had learned from the media of his deposition. In vain he had asked the Pope for an audience. But the Pope granted him neither an audience yet another opportunity to defend himself against the complaints. Then the bishop had informed the media that he had "naturally accepted the decision" of the Pope, but that the Pope would be "responsible" before God for his decision. Bishop Livieres has been also active since then in evangelization, but without a diocese.
