Bishop responds to 39% abortion rate

Last month the New York city health department released statistics that reported 39% of pregnancies were deliberately terminated. This week NY Archbishop Timothy Dolan held a press conference calling religious leaders to do something about it.

For his part Dolan rededicated Catholic commitment to providing alternatives to abortion.

“I re-affirm Cardinal John O’Connor’s promise of a quarter-century ago that every woman facing a difficult pregnancy will be provided with free, confidential help of the highest quality from the Archdiocese of New York,” said Archbishop Dolan.
“We are prepared to do everything in our power to help you and your unborn baby to make absolutely certain that you need never feel that you have no choice but an abortion.”

The Chiaroscuro Foundation, a non-profit organization, pledged $1 million in 2011 to promote alternatives to abortion in New York City.

WikiLeaks: US demanding our Twitter account info

LONDON – U.S. officials have issued a subpoena to demand details about WikiLeaks' Twitter account, according to court documents obtained Saturday. WikiLeaks says other American Internet companies may also have been ordered to hand over information about its activities.

The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia ordered San Francisco-based Twitter Inc. to hand over private messages, billing addresses and connection records of WikiLeaks founder JulianAssange and other alleged associates — including the U.S. Army intelligence analyst suspected of handing classified information to the site and a high-profile Icelandic parliamentarian.

Assange blasted the order, saying it amounted to harassment.

"If the Iranian government was to attempt to coercively obtain this information from journalists and activists of foreign nations, human rights groups around the world would speak out," he said in a statement.

Anglicans begin search for new bishop

Posted at 04:42 PM on Friday, Jan. 07, 2011

The area's Anglican community is taking steps to find a new bishop for the Anglican Diocese of San Joaquin. The current bishop, John-David Schofield, announced in 2009 that he plans to retire in October this year.

Schofield, who was elected bishop in 1988, helped lead a secession movement out of the U.S. Episcopal Church in 2007 amid debate over same-sex blessings; the consecration of a partnered gay priest, the Rev. V. Gene Robinson, as a bishop; and how to interpret the Bible over such issues. Schofield led the former Episcopal diocese into the new Anglican Church in North America in 2009.

A Bishop Search Committee, with 17 members, was formed according to diocesan canons after Schofield announced his intention to retire. According to the diocese's website, key dates for the election, consecration and enthronem

Largest Bell in the World at Cologne Cathedral is Silenced

Largest free swinging bell in the world:  Shortly before the Epiphany Mass the clapper of the 24 ton bell -- The "decke Pitter" is the German Peace Bell.

The Most Famous Spires in Europe

Cologne (kath.net/KAP) Shock in the Cologne Cathedral: The bell known as "Decker Pitter" by the locals is silenced.  On Thursday morning the clapper with a 3.24 Meter diameter and with a weight of 24 tons, the largest free swinging bell in the world, fell.  The cause is still unknown.  Possibly there was some material weakening in the structure connecting the clapper to the bell itself.  No one was injured as the Cathedral Provost said to the Cologne "Express".

For that reason, at least till the repair of the Cologne Bell, the 21 ton St. Stephen's Cathedral bell is the largest free swinging, sounding bell in a church tower.  Its 800 kilogram weight clapper will be replaced by a lighter 200 kilogram clapper.

The deep C of the sound in the Cologne Cathedral should have pealed shortly before the 10 O'Clock hour of the Feast of the "Coming of the Magi" [Epiphany] on Three Kings Day. The approximately one ton clapper fell around 9:30, it is said.  It fell on the floor of the bell room and broke in two.  The Cathedral authority will inform the public, through a report on Cathedral Radio, about the extent of the damages.

Since 1924 "The German Peace Bell"

The Bell was poured in Thuringian Apolda in 1923. It was consecrated on 30 November 1924 as the "German Peace Bell".  The predecessor which was made from melted French rifles in 1873 was removed and melted down to make weapons in 1918.  The "decke Pitter" is struck on high Catholic feasts, and has been rung for the city only after the end of the Second World War and the Reunification of Germany.

The "decke Pitter" has held its record title as the largest free swinging bell till today -- to the annoyance of the citizens of the US City Newport.  There a would be patron financed the pouring of a 30 ton bell in France, which would have left the Peter's Bell in the dust.  In any case there isn't a church tower which is stable enough.

The largest bell in the world overall was probably the "Zar Kolkol" in Moscow poured in 1734.  It weighed 200 tons and is six meters high. It was never struck, because it was severely damaged by a fire at the bell smith.

God was behind Big Bang, universe no accident: Pope

By Philip Pullella

VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - God's mind was behind complex scientific theories such as the Big Bang, and Christians should reject the idea that the universe came into being by accident, Pope Benedict said on Thursday.

"The universe is not the result of chance, as some would want to make us believe," Benedict said on the day Christians mark the Epiphany, the day the Bible says the three kings reached the site where Jesus was born by following a star.

"Contemplating it (the universe) we are invited to read something profound into it: the wisdom of the creator, the inexhaustible creativity of God," he said in a sermon to some 10,000 people in St Peter's Basilica on the feast day.

While the pope has spoken before about evolution, he has rarely delved back in time to discuss specific concepts such as the Big Bang ...

Fr. Dwight Longenecker on the founder of Miles Jesu: "The guy gave me the creeps from the start."

From Fr. Longenecker's blog:

http://gkupsidedown.blogspot.com/2011/01/miles-jesu-founder-dismissed.html

I'm pleased to report that the founder of Miles Jesu has been dismissed for 'totally unacceptable behavior'. I got to know the members of Miles Jesu when I lived in England. American Steve Ryan was the leader of the community of celibate, consecrated laymen. Steve is an intelligent, devoted and spiritual man who lived a very sacrificial life in service of the church. The guys at Miles Jesu organized the annual Path to Rome conference in London at which various converts to the Catholic Church were invited to speak. At a couple of the conferences the founder, Fr. Alfonso Duran turned up with his retinue. I have to say that the guy gave me the creeps from the start. My impression was of a sinister, power hungry leader of a cult.

However, this was simply my personal, subjective impression, and always wishing to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, and not liking to accuse anyone of being a Catholic Darth Vader, I kept my opinions to myself. Nevertheless, I was not surprised a few years later to discover that Miles Jesu was under investigation, that my friend Steve Ryan had left the organization, nor that he was being persecuted and having false allegations made against him by those members who remained loyal.

The case is too much like the problems of the Legionairies and Fr. Marcel Marciel. Anyone associated with this kind of religious behavior will recognize that it is not only a problem with Catholicism. There are fundamentalist, Evangelical colleges, churches and other organizations that operate with the same cult-like mentality--demanding total loyalty and black listing and ostracizing those who criticize or leave the little fortress of faith. The problem is complex and is not only the blame of the domineering cult leader. Those who belong to such groups collude with the leadership, and a sick symbiosis of the dominator and those who wish to be dominated develops. Often those who follow such leaders desire the security and absolute certainty that comes with membership and the totally unacceptable demands for loyalty and mindless obedience that are part of the system.

The same problem can exist within marriages, families, parishes, schools and workplaces in a less extreme form. Anyone who demands total, unquestioned loyalty and anyone who wishes to submit themselves to such a regime or relationship is living out a frighteningly immature and irresponsible reaction to life's challenge. Such systems, wherever they occur, breed infantilism--not the proper child-like trust of the saint--but a diabolical counterfeit that controls and oppresses (and even more sickly) desires to be controlled and oppressed. Saints are not made in this way. All that results from such a life is spiritual, social and psychological abuse of a profound nature which produces not saints, but sad and stunted souls.

Finally, we should understand that those who are involved in this sick relationship are more often sick than evil. The dominator really thinks he is doing God's will and is simply exerting the necessary discipline to produce saints. The dominated really thinks he is doing God's will by living out a life of sacrifice and total obedience. Most often the great growth of such organizations, their ability to raise funds and attract followers and their undoubted good works make them difficult to criticize. Their deception operates at many different levels to both themselves and outside observers. Either way, sick or evil, such religious behavior has to be exposed and rooted out.

King of Rome and Jerusalem Bears Gifts to Poor Children

Rome, Jan 5 (DPA) Pope Benedict XVI Wednesday visited a Rome hospital where he distributed gifts to children on the eve of the Catholic Feast of the Epiphany.

Dozens of children - some held in the arms of their parents - waved yellow-and-white Vatican flags to greet the 83-year-old pontiff as he arrived at the Agostino Gemelli Polyclinic.

Some of the patients of the hospital's paediatric centre sang a hymn for the pontiff who, thanking them, offered prayers that they may be cured of their illnesses.

Father Reese SJ wants More Lay Involvement in Church

Editor:  Better be careful Father Reese.  You guys engage in a lot of special pleading here.  We thought Jesuits were supposed to be logical.  These radicals are all about "lay leadership" until the laity starts asking for more authoritative statements against homosexuals in the priesthood and the occasional Latin Mass to be said.  One thing you can say about NCR and Jesuits in general is that they are respecters of persons, even if they have no respect for the truth. Father Reese should join the Episcopagans, we understand that they have lots of openings.  It is indeed comical how leftist clergy becomes the caricature of the shrill old-school Msgr when the laity acts like Catholics.

Panelists at a recent Woodstock forum in Philadelphia urged lay Catholics to grab the reins and set the course for the church’s future.

“We are becoming a do-it-yourself church” for the laity, said Jesuit Fr. Thomas J. Reese, one of three senior fellows of the Woodstock Theological Center in Washington who spoke at “The Future of the Church: A Woodstock Forum on Sources of Hope,” held at St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia Dec. 5.

The U.S. Catholic hierarchy today is fearful and defensive, a far cry from the collaborative, pastorally transformed hierarchy that emerged during and after the Second Vatican Council, said Dolores R. Leckey, former longtime head of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Secretariat for Laity, Family, Women and Youth, and a noted writer on spirituality.

New Prefect of the Congregation for Consecrated Life: Old Liberal

Editor: expect that the Visitation of Women Religious ongoing in the United States to be toothless, unless there is an intervention by Pope Benedict forcing his man's hand.

Erzbischof João Bráz de Aviz
© Cristina Gallo/Agência Senado

The Church in Brazil is on its last legs.  Actually, now a Brazilian bankruptcy is on the way that will also drive Rome into bankruptcy.

(kreuz.net)  Pope Benedict XVI. has named a new Archbishop João Bráz de Aviz (63) of Brasilia to be the new Prefect of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life.  This was on the Vatican Press site.

At the same time, the Pope accepted the resignation of the current Prefect, the Slovenian Franc Cardinal Rode (76),  who had already reported to the Italian media the intended change at the beginning of the Dicastry.

The new Curial Bishop is himself not a religious.  He was in ordained in 1972 in November for the Diocese of Apucarana in south east Brazil.

More Diocese Driven into the Abyss

Msgr Aviz saw the light of the world  in the southern Brazilian town of Mafra.  He studied Old Liberal Theology in Brazil and Rome.

On 6. April 1994 John Paul II named him as auxiliary bishop of the Diocese of Vitoria.

Four years later he was asked by the Pope to become Bishop of Ponta Grossa.

In July 2002 he was named by John Paul II as Bishop of Maringa and at the end of January became the Archbishop of Brasilia.

In the last year the Old Liberal Archbishop organized the 'Eucharistic Congress' in Brazil.

Enemy of the Old Mass

The newly named is a declared enemy of the Immemorial Mass of All Ages.  He has never supported its celebration in his Archdiocese.

The Traditionalists will be immediately persecuted under his regime.

The present Traditional Mass in Brasilia is celebrated with much resistance by the Archdiocese.

The emeritus auxiliary Bishop of Brasilia, Msgr João Evangelista Martins Terra SJ (85) has put his private chapel as the disposal of the Traditionalists.

Mons. Bráz de Aviz is also close to the Sillonist, Neocatechumenate organization.

Cardinal Enters With Clown On

Das Kölner Domradio zeigt die Predigt von Kardinal Meisner mit einem Kasperle

He found the right words for the kids:  "It's like we're dead, tired, lame ducks, when we don't have the Holy Spirit".

(kreuz.net) Cardinal Joachim Meisner of Cologne preached with a clown puppet in his right hand.

The reason for this was the opening of the 52nd Star Singer Event.  In the Cathedral of Cologne there were  3000 Star Singers from the whole Archdiocese of Cologne.

The Cardinal arrived around 11.00 for the excited children.

For the address he used a clown puppet.

He showed the children first how the puppet is sleepy and powerless  "She's really down, but there's no life in her. "

Then the Cardinal shoved his hand in the puppet in order to get her to stand up.

With that he explained:  "We are dead, tired, lame ducks, if we don't have the Holy Ghost."

The motto for this year's event was "Children Show Strength".

"I wish you to have steady footing, strong legs in this cold and ice,"  said the Archbishop:  "stand up and bring people the blessing."

In the next days Star Singer will collect for children in need in their 546 communities.

In the last year in the Archdiocese of Cologne 2,58 Million Euro was collected all-together.

Throughout Germany about a half-million children participate in this event.

Saffron terror leader to be booked for Samjhauta blast

NEW DELHI: The National Investigation Agency probing the blast on Samjhauta Express in February 2007 looks set to book militant Hindutva leader Aseemanand. It has identified Aseemanand as the key plotter of the attack that killed 68 people, majority of them Pakistani citizens returning home after visiting their kin in India.

Sources in the agency, which was brought in after investigations by Haryana Police reached a dead-end, told TOI that Aseemanand planned the blast to avenge the series of terror attacks by Islamist terror groups.

"The role of Hindu extremists behind the blast has become clear. The probe agency found that Aseemanand was one of the plotters. The group had done it under their 'Bomb-for-Bomb' plan which was hatched in the Dangs district of Gujarat," said sources in the NIA.

Pope John Paul II Closer to Sainthood, Though Sex Abuse Critics Disagree

Vatican experts have attributed a miraculous healing to the intercession of the late Pope John Paul II, a ruling that appears to push the beloved Polish pontiff a crucial step closer to sainthood even as criticisms of his lengthy reign have mounted since his death in 2005.

A leading Vatican-watcher, Andrea Tornielli of the Italian daily Il Giornale, reported this week that medical and theological experts with the Vatican congregation charged with overseeing the canonization process have affirmed that a French nun was cured of Parkinson's disease -- an affliction similar to the one that claimed John Paul's life -- and there was no medical explanation.

The experts at the Congregation for the Causes of Saints determined that the cure was a miracle and resulted from the nun's prayers for the intercession of John Paul. Cardinals and bishops on the committee are to meet in mid-January to vote on the report from the experts before sending it to Pope Benedict XVI for final approval, and no delay is expected. Church policy decrees that two verified miracles are required before someone's sainthood is formally confirmed

Consecration for Liberal Bishop of Basel Will be Possibly Postponed

Editor: some may recall the Bishop designate's controversial ideas.  Too bad it won't be an indefinite postponement.  Not only is there a disaster in his coming, but he's a disaster too, read here.

On the Ursen Cathedral in Solothurn, where Felix Gmür is to be consecrated Bishop, has been the subject of an arson attack.

Basel (kath.net/KAP)  The consecration of the new Basel Diocesan Bishop Felix Gmür may have to be postponed.  The reason for this is arson on the baroque St. Ursen Cathedral in Solothurn, the seat of the Bishops of Basel.

A 61 year old "Church hater" Andreas Z had put two gasoline cans near the high altar, poured them out and ignited them.  The fire department brought the fire quickly under control, in any case there is substantial damage.  Carbon will be a great part of the interiors damage.

Cathedral Rector Paul Rutz appeared very affected by the attack for his interview with the online edition of the Swiss daily "Blick", above all, because in eleven days the Episcopal Consecration is to take place.  "It looks bad", says Rutz.

The problem is not only the carbon particles all over the Cathedral, rather the film of oil, which must have settled over everything, said Rutz: "What is not clear:  the organ is not going to be playable for the 16th of January."  That is in any case not necessary for the Episcopal Consecration.  "If they decide in any case on Solothun, they can order a mobile organ," said the Cathedral Rector.

In case the Episcopal Ordination is not to take place in Solothurn, the Cathedral will have to be closed to the public for some time.  One would in this case want to do a complete cleaning and not only the traces of the arson attack, said Rutz.  The damages run from about 600.000 Franks (480.000 Euro).

Currently there is still an investigation in progress, which involve the possibility of using other churches for the Episcopal Consecration, says Rutz:  "They must be big enough, have enough parking preparted, the infrastructure must be convenient as well."  The decision where the Consecration will take place will be made by Thursday.

Gmür steps in to replace his successor Cardinal Kurt Koch, who has been since July an "Ecumenical Minister" in the Vatican.

Catholic Property Sold for 10 Million: These Are The Fruits of Liberalism

[Burlington Free Press] The Roman Catholic Diocese of Burlington has completed the sale of its headquarters at 351 North Ave. to Burlington College for $10 million to help pay for the recent settlement in about two dozen sexual abuse lawsuits involving priests in Vermont.

The diocese and the college finished signing the final paperwork late Friday, according to a statement from the Most Rev. Salvatore R. Matano, bishop of the statewide diocese.

With the sale of the central administration building, the diocesan offices will move into leased space at 55 Joy Drive in South Burlington at the end of May. The property is owned by Pizzagalli Properties and has been offered “at a very reasonable rate,” Matano said in a two-page statement. Indonesia Fears an Increasing Number of Religious Conflicts in 2011

National Police Chief foresees need to take stringent measures and precautions.

Jakarta (www.kath.net/ KAP) Indonesia's Police fear that the new year will bring an increase in religious tensions.   For that reason the handling of such conclicts will have the "highest priority", said the national Police Chief Timur Pradopo to the daily "Jakarta Post" (Thursday edition).   The General stressed that the police that the police will focus on prevention and proceed against crimes in connection with religious conflicts.  "The people must pray.  If there isn't a place where they can do that then the authorities should find them a place where they can conduct their services in peace," said Pradopo.

79 African Nations Resist EU-Homosexual Pressure

Brüssel (kath.net) The 79 Nation group of the African, Caribbean and Pacific States AKP-States sent a letter to the European Parliament which has indicated that they would be forced not to renew their economic agreements on the point of "sexual orientation".  It concerns a contract for economic development assistance, in which there is a clause regarding "non-discrimination" as a condition respecting of sexual origination.  The AKP-States successfully resisted the inclusion of the clause.

The AKP- States request the EU in this letter, "it is urgent that, above all to attempt to keep distance, in those things which we will not freely participate."  These economically developing nations further inform that "the partnership can only work and fully function, if both partners take the necessary respect for social differences and cultural diversity".

The European Parliament in turn had generated a resolution in December in which it reminded Africa that "the EU is responsible for more than half the development assistance and Africa's most important business partner."  Later the resolution makes the admonishment that free sexual orientation is an important category of no-discrimination.

Bishop of Münster Lampoons 500,000 Earthquake Victims

Editor: the Primate of Belgium hasn't been the only one to make these comparisons between the sex-abuse hoax and natural disasters.  This Prelate, in the See of the Great von Galen, is licking the boots of Masonic journalists and helping to discredit the Church.

Msgr Felix Genn must, according to his mad sayings, apologize to the victims in Pakistan and Haiti -- and demonstrate that he has come back to his senses.

(kreuz.net) On the 23rd of December Bishop Felix Genn (60) of Munster was interviewed by the German internet site, 'Der Westen'. The site delegated journalists Rudiger Oppers and Thomas Runker.

Rüdiger Oppers (50) is the 'Chief Director of the New Ruhr / New Rhein Zeitung' and the Chancellor of the Grand Priory of Europe in the ecumenical hospital order.

Up until December 2007 he was associate Grand Master of the German Freemasons.

Since this didn't bring him to Grand Master, he resigned his office.

The homosexually distrubed German politician Guido Westerwelle dubbed him as "the most beautiful Journalist in Germany" in 2008.

 The Bishop Cracks Up

In an interview with the Bishop it was of first importance, therefore, to make a celebration of the rare abuses in a Church context.

Msgr Genn rose to the occasion with: "Yes -- and there we still weren't completely gone topsy-turvey" --  he let himself catch on that the local Bishop wanted the to exploit the abuse hysteria for a long time as work therapy.

The Bishop held forth with madnesses such as the following:  The abuse cases "have destroyed lives, like actual natural catastrophes, like in Haiti or Pakistan."

By the January earthquake in Haiti according to Church estimations, there were 500.000 who died.  A further 300.000 people were injured and 1,2 became homeless.

In Pakistan from September  2010 during the floods, there were an official l 1,738 Menschen. 1.8 Milliom homes were damaged and in total, there were 14 million people affected by the storms.

Comparatively the Diocese of Münster had between 1948 and 2009 about sixty priests, who were accused of --mostly trivial -- "cases of sexual force".

Statistically, there are less than the half are remaining after such information.   In total there were about 4.000 clerics employed in the Diocese.

Consequently,  it effects consequences at very different ratios 0.7 of the clergy.  That means that  99.3 percent of the priests of the Diocese were not accused of doing wrong.

He Works for the Enemy

Never the less the Bishop drove on as if obsessed with the abuse-delusion: "This year will remain an indelibly dark year in the history of the Church" -- he demonized.

As if on command, he passed in front of the two laughing  journalists in a self-conceived mess: The church has learned that these crimes must be atoned for much more.

Bishop Genn cringingly explained a second time that the German Bishops' Conference had plans to eviscerate the hoax for a long time:

"At the level of the Episcopal Conference, we are considering how it can create a structured dialogue.“ I will present some ideas for it in January. "

Because the abuse hoax has such little focus on the facts, expect little, like Mgr. Genn: Genn expanded it:

"It means, for example, respect for those who no longer believe that." This is important in a multicultural country such as Germany:

"This is my answer to Christian fundamentalism, and also Muslim fanatics" -as the prelate continued to kiss the butts of the two journalists.

The Bishop starts to grumble: "Fundamentalism is not a religion but a quirky attitude."

The violence of abortion, homosexual ideology, the destruction of the family, the euthanasia program, or the Church's apparent decline, doesn't really bother him.

Spain: Record for Pilgrimage of St. James

The Holy Year of James in Santiago de Compstela has come to an end -- Correspondent's Report by Manuel Meyer
St. James in Battle

Santiago de Compostela (www.kath.net/ KAP)  With a historic record number of pilgrims, the "Holy Year of James" is at an end this Friday in the northern Spanish pilgrimage destination of Santiago de Compostela.  "It is almost inconceivable, but we have registered a total number of 271.93", said the director of the Office of Pilgrimage in Santiago, Jenaro Cebrian, says Katholischen Nachrichten-Agentur  (KNA)  In his "wildest dreams" it was at the most 240.000... in any case, he had prepared his office well and had even ordered ten temporary employees; but still no one could have figured on such a massive surge in numbers, said the director of the Pilgrimage Office.

Especially chaotic were the busiest Months of July and August. "In July we had 40.000 and in August   60.000 registered pilgrims -- we've never had so many before."  The number of pilgrims has been climbing continuously in the past years.  In the "Holy Year of James" in 1993 there were 99.436;  in the last "Xacobeo"  2004 there were another 179.944.

"The Spanish James Pilgrimmage is today as beloved as never before",  said Ignacio Santos also, General Director of the Xacobeo-Consortium, which is responsible for the organizing of the "Year of St. James".  In order to care for the mass of pilgrims, the Consortium erected ten new hospices on the various St. James Pilgrimage routes through Spain.  In addition there were mobile Pilgrim shelters established along the beloved "French way", so that no pilgrim would have to sleep under the open sky.  Even so there weren't enough sleeping areas.  "I had to walk until five o'clock in the morning, so that I could get to the the next day's destination.  Otherwise I would have not gotten a bed",  said 39 year old Madrilene Cesar Perez, who had taken the "French way" .

For all, the destination is Santiago, to which all eight of the paths go, the place to which all are bound.  In addition, there are more than 2.000 cultural events of the accompanying cultural performances with demonstrations, concerts and other events which in the estimation o fthe media consist of about eight million visiters who have been drawn to the city.  Actually not everyone is pleased by this.   "When you have been walking through nature all week and are looking for reflection, the arrival in Santiago can be almost a shock",  said Cesar Perez.

The Church tried to accomodate the pilgrims with five daily pilgrimage Masses and spiritual conferences.  For this there were not a few pilgrims who would have liked more peace at the end of their jounrey.  Even for Xacobeo-Director Ignacio Santos it was a balancing act between the protection of the religious character of the pilgrimage and its commercial exploitation, whose business element is very important in the financially poor region.

Next to the plenary indulgence for every Pilgrim who goes to the "St. James Year" in Santiago and goes to confession, even the market crisis in Spain plays an enormous role in the climb of the number of pilgrims:  many see the pilgrimage as a suitable alternative to a vacation, says Jenaro Cebrian.

The Pope too admonished the pilgrims on his visit at the beginning of November to Santiago, that the pilgrims do not exhaust their  wonder in seeking out some destination for its natural beauty, artistic treasures or history.  It's more important for a pilgrim to have an encounter with God in a place, which he has shown himself in a particular way.

From the tomb of the Aposgle Benedict XVI. recalled Europe to its "Christian roots".  And even at the beginning of the "Holy Year" he had expressed his hope that as many, who have gone further from believe in God, might come back to him.  And the faithful should be encouraged by the pilgrimage to rethink their Faith and to deepen it.

A "Holy Year" always takes place in Santiago when the previous year the date of the Apostle's death the 25th of July should fall on a Sunday.  That will not take place again until 2021.

Still More Spies in the Vatican

The sister was in the apartment of the Cardinal tidying up.  Then she pushed against the statue of the Mother of God of Fatima, which then fell to the floor.

Cardinal Casaroli's Coat of Arms

(kreuz.net)Pope John Paul II. was not the only one in the Vatican who pursued spies.  The Italian news agency, 'Adnekronos' reported on the 29th of December.

Even the former Secretary of State, Agostino Cardinal Casaroli († 1998), found a bug in his home.

It was for that reason that the Cardinal is said to have been shadowed by the Soviet Secret Service, KGB throughout the 80s.

Cardinal Casaroli was  in office from 1979 to 1990.

According to reports from 'Adnkronis' the Cardinal had a little statue of Our Lady of Fatima in his dining room.

One morning  a sister, who was a servant  in the residence, bumped into the statue.  The statue fell to the floor whereupon a bug was suddenly visible.

The Italian Secret Service had determined in the  90er that the bug had been placed by Irina Trollevera in the residence of the Secretary of State.

Mrs Trollerova was a Czech citizen and was married to the Cardinal's nephew.

Already since the election of John Paul II († 2005) in  1978, the KGB had planned to wiretap the Pope.

The goal of the exercise was, "to discredit the Church and the Pope himself with disinformation-actions and provocations."

Actually Pope John Paul II. had already had his experience with Secret Services.

He was already being investigated by the Communist Secret Police of his own country.

Humorous Forms For the New Liturgy: Architectural Modernism

Editor: Bewildering, but not surprising. Notice how the indeterminate forms and bare spaces can accomodate ambiguity and foster religious indifferntism, that erroneous idea that all religions are equal.  This space could accommodate practically any event, a blood drive, a barmitzva, an autopsy, a house closing, almost anything, that is, except for the Mass of All Ages.

An Old Liberal Bishop has rolled out a wire table for the believers in a stilted presentation.

New Table in the Hospital Chapel in Klagenfurt

(kreuz.net, Klagenfurt) The Old Liberal Bishop Alois Scharz von Gurk has blessed a newly constructed hospital chapel in the city of Klagenfurt population 94.000.  The Diocese reported this from its press office at the beginning of December.  [Ho-ho-ho]

Klagenfurt am Wörtersee is the capital of Kärnten.

Bishop Schwarz took this opportunity to  consecrate a wire table, which could pass for a counter top.

The metal construction was designed by Architect Dietmar Feichtinger, who had planned the entire clinic.

The humorous form will serve as a table for the New Mass.

The Bishoip used the rite with oil, incense and fire -- which could have been used for an actual altar -- also for the wire table.

Every Wire Strand is an Apostle

For his Sermon, Bishop Schwarz dared a comical allusion.

The twelve wire strands which are fastened to the counter, represent in the tortured imagination of the Bishop, the Twelve Apostles:

"The close circle of friends around Jesus held this house and that table, on which the bread was broken and the wine, the blood of Christ served as the redemption of the world," he mystified.

According to the witness of the Gospel, there was only one apostle under the Cross -- namely John -- usually.

A Symbol of the New Desolation

The bare chapel was described by Bishop Schwarz as "sanctified and sanctifying place of the power of God".

He also thanked the alleged artist, Karl Brandstätter, the one who can be blamed for the inarticulate window glass in the desolate room.

The Bishop explained that people would find "the Savior" in that bare room.

"There are many people who have access to God, some, who seek him, som, who speak with him, without knowing who he is, and some, who still don't know him that he seeks, the God of their life"  -- testified Msgr Schwarz Soundwave.

Pro-Homosexual Abortion Priest of Genoa Goes Unchastened by Cardinal Tettamanzi

Gino Paoli
[Genoa] In another example of unequal  treatment among unequals, Cardinal Tettamanzi of Genoa, according to Messinlatino, has neglected to deal with Father Andrea Gallo and his partner in crime, the "peace" and abortion priest, Don Andrea Gallo, despite the vociferous objection of many of the Faithful. Every Archdiocese seems to have a handful of these more outspoken creatures who go unpunished, and are well-fed, while their more traditional counterparts face expulsion, suspension and the contempt of their superiors and colleagues.

Heretical Fr. Andrea Gallo has concelebrated Mass with Genoese priest, Gino Paoli, recently where he sang "Bella Ciao" a disrespectful anthem to the Blessed Mother.  After his shocking confession that he's helped prostitutes to have abortions in the Corriere Della Serra a few years ago,  his recent blasphemies during Mass with Father Paoli, Don Gallo's admission might seem rather low key for now, almost an afterthought put on the back burner by Cardinal Tettamanzi, who never the less saw fit to threaten another priest,  the late Christian Democrat, Don Baget Bozzo, who'd criticized him quite lightly in the same day as Dom Gallo's aforementioned admission to Corriere Della Serra.

In any event, the duo were able to promote their peace message of disarmament, and Father Gallo still hasn't made reparations for his scandalous and awful comments about abortion and euthanasia, both of which he promotes alongside his vociferous political campaigning against Silvio Berlusconi which the aforementioned Father Bozzo was a supporter.  It can be supposed that Cardinal Tettamanzi, by tacit approval is, like Don Gallo and Father Paoli, a lover of peace, social-justice, euthanasia and abortion.  Didn't you know they go together?

Islamists Kill 21 in Alexandrian Church Bombing

Cairo
[Christian Science Monitor] An Egypt church bombing today has raised fears that global terrorist organizations are exploiting the country's rising sectarian tension as justification for attacking Christians.

The powerful explosion took place outside a Coptic Christian church in Alexandria during a New Year's Eve mass early Saturday, killing at least 21 people and wounding more than 80. It came just as some of the worshipers, which numbered about 1,000, had begun to leave. Wrecked cars and debris were left scattered in the street.

Security authorities initially said the blast had come from a car bomb, but later said it appeared to have come from a suicide bomber, and not a car. A statement released by the Interior Ministry said the bomb was filled with nuts and bearings to kill as many as possible.

Christian Presence Vanishing in Israel Last Sixty Years: America

A Vanishing Church

We are pleased to feature this guest blog post from Sir Jeffery M. Abood, KHS. Sir Abood is chair of the Holy Land Christian Ecumenical Foundation’s International Speakers Bureau and Co-Chair of the Council on Global Solidarity, Diocese of Cleveland.

The recent Middle East Synod has helped focus church attention on the vanishing Christian population in the Holy Land.
For two thousand years, Christian communities there have thrived. Yet, over the last sixty years, their population has gone from historically around 18 percent to less than 2 percent today. Never have the Christian communities there been as close to going out, as they are now. According to Latin Patriarch Twal, “the future of the Church in the Holy Land is now in doubt unless fellow Christians around the world step up efforts to help them."

Three Anglican Bishops Come to the Catholic Church

Former Bishop Burnham of Ebbsfleet

It was announced back in October when we cited Kath.net, and now it's final. As Anglo-Catholic reports, history is being made. Deo Gratias, what a wonderful gift from providence and the Holy Father since he promulgated Anglicanorum Coetibus last year. Hearty welcome to them all and we're glad they're here. They're reinforcements for those of us who love Tradition and Orthodoxy.  Cardinal Hume must be rolling in his grave, and Cardinal Kasper has already been duly chastened for his part in attempting to sideline this day. More later. Here's the report from Anglo-Catholic.

Deacon and Superior of Disgraced SSJ Ordained in Oregon

No one's disputing the man's right to work, but many of his supporters talk as if he could do nothing else than be a priest.  Arguably, turning a blind eye and defending his predatory friends and associates in the face of fair accusations and misappropriation of funds constitutes the kind of offense that would disqualify you from being ordained; but they've lowered the bar, obviously, as anyone who knows a sample of priests in the Modern Church can attest..  Apparently, Dr. Bond has written a letter to the local ordinary allowing this man to be ordained.

On the evening of September 14, 2010, Central Oregon Catholics were privileged to witness the ordination of Joseph Karl Levine to the priesthood. Held at the new St. Francis of Assisi Church on NE 27th St. in Bend, the ceremony was conducted by Bishop Robert F. Vasa and attended by approximately 500 of the faithful. More than 30 priests from the Diocese of Baker and from as far away as Brazil [from the Society of Saint John?] were also present. Other dignitaries at the Mass of Ordination were Thomas Connolly, Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Baker, and James Timlin, Bishop Emeritus of Scranton, Pennsylvania [who supported the Society of Saint John as long as possible until he retired and his successor suppressed the Society in that diocese].

Fr. Levine has been assigned as Associate Pastor to St. Francis Parish.

Churchperson ++Wuerl Has No Opinion on DADT

Way to go whomever was responsible for getting this man into seminary, ordaining him, consecrating him Bishop and then giving him a Cardinal's hat.  Surely, we all knew what a Lion of Orthodoxy he was when all of that was going on and the ambitious young protege of the great  Cardinal McCarrick, was conscientiously moving up that ladder of power.  Perhaps there are some who might have been wondering a while back why nothing substantial was done when he was assigned to +Hunthausen in Seattle when the latter was in trouble with the liberalism and sex abuse; now things should be clearer...
WALLACE: So are you in favor or against the repeal of "Don't Ask/Don't Tell"?

WUERL: That is a question that has to be worked out politically. And there isn't a specific Catholic Church position, but whatever happens, it has to be seen in terms of the church's teaching position.

Magic Circle Bishop Burns of Swansea Attacks Immemorial Mass of All Ages

...That clericalism risks raising its head today among those who again are looking for identity in status, not service. They want to be treated differently. There are those who set high standards of morality for lay people, while they blatantly violate those same standards themselves. There are those who go to extremes to express the Mass in a particular way, whether it is in the Ordinary Form or Extraordinary Form, in a so-called VAT II rite or Tridentine Rile, through the "People's Mass" or the . "Priest's Mass". Some want to put the priest on a pedestal, whilst the people are consigned to be privileged spectators outside the rails. Flamboyant modes of liturgical vestments and rubrical gestures abound. Women are denied all ministries at Mass: doing the Readings, the serving, the Bidding Prayers, and taking Communion to the Sick. To many in our Church and beyond, this comes across as triumphalism and male domination.

Communists Ban Christmas Mass in Vietnam

Editor: too bad our Bishops don't make our Communists this angry and fearful.

Vietnam...[kreuz/AsiaNews] Bishop Michel Hoang Ðúc Oahn (72) from Kontum in the central highlands of Vietnam may not celebrate Christmas Mass.  This was reported by the Old Liberal news agency 'AsiaNews'.  The ban came from the district's Communist authority.  That mountain people from the Diocese wanted to participate at that Mass, alerted the comrades to the celebration. Initially, there was no opposition: the ban came first on Christmas day when 'AsiaNews" mentioned that  Msgr Hoang Ðúc Oanh is famous for many conversions.  In 2008 and 2009 alone, he was responsible for the baptism of 50.000 of his Dioceses' people.

Inflation Hitting China May Cause Regime's Fall: He who Eats Pope, Dies

Inflation in China will cause the collapse of the regime
by Wei Jingsheng
To make a few people wealthy, the communist government keeps most of the population in poverty. If they really have the welfare of their people at heart, Beijing must allow the revaluation of the Yuan and should open the market to the West.

Washington (AsiaNews) - The inflation that is hitting China recently, the cause of many social protests, is different from any other to have ever occurred in the country: it continues to grow and can be simply explained by the greed of a minority of people, exploiting the cheap labour and authoritarianism of the regime to get rich.
Wei Jingsheng, pro-democracy activist and author of Democracy Wall, explains why the Chinese government is playing with fire at this critical stage of development: only democratic governments, he says, "can successfully manage an economic transformation similar to the one taking place in contemporary China”.
China's economy often has excessive inflation.  But each inflation is not exactly the same.  The inflation during the Mao Zedong era was due to the shortage of goods caused by the planned economy.  Academics call it a shortage economy.  After the economic reform of the 1980's, inflation is still emerging consistently.  At present the recently rising currency inflation has such intensity that it has made many people puzzled: "Since China has been reformed to a market economy, why is it still short of commodities, and has this inflation?"

Another Belgian Marxist Charged With Degenerate Conduct to Children

We're not the only ones who are starting to see the all-too-intimate connection between sexual deviancy and liberalism, here.

Just as a brief refresher, here are some links:

Here Woody Allen, Roman Polanksi, Daniel Cohn-Bendit, Allen Gisberg and Doctor Kinsey:  Really, the following quote typifies the kind of moral ambivalence once meets when confronted with the liberal by Daniel Cohn-Bendit:

Le Grand Bazar,[1]: "On several occasions certain kids would open my fly and start to stroke me. I reacted differently according to circumstances, but their desire posed a problem for me. I asked them: 'Why don't you play together? Why have you chosen me, and not the other kids?' But if they insisted, I caressed them still.[2][3]"

Pope Says Normal Marriage Makes Europe, Europe

[Sexuality and Gender] With all the diplomatic comings and goings in Vatican City, L’Osservatore Romano, the Vatican weekly newspaper, is kept busy reporting on which diplomats are leaving, which new ones are arriving, what members of the Church hierarchy are retiring, and so on.

The descriptions of new arrivals to their diplomatic posts at the Vatican are especially interesting since they always begin with the same three markers: how old the ambassador is, whether he or she is married, and how many children they have. Just last week, for instance, we learned that Fernando Felipe Sánchez Campos of Costa Rica is 36, married, with two children. And we learn that Gábor Győriványi of Hungary is 51, married, with four children.

Yet there may be a more subtle rationale to this standard formula of diplomatic description than the simple recitation of facts.
