Editor: too bad our Bishops don't make our Communists this angry and fearful.
Vietnam...[kreuz/AsiaNews] Bishop Michel Hoang Ðúc Oahn (72) from Kontum in the central highlands of Vietnam may not celebrate Christmas Mass. This was reported by the Old Liberal news agency 'AsiaNews'. The ban came from the district's Communist authority. That mountain people from the Diocese wanted to participate at that Mass, alerted the comrades to the celebration. Initially, there was no opposition: the ban came first on Christmas day when 'AsiaNews" mentioned that Msgr Hoang Ðúc Oanh is famous for many conversions. In 2008 and 2009 alone, he was responsible for the baptism of 50.000 of his Dioceses' people.

Inflation Hitting China May Cause Regime's Fall: He who Eats Pope, Dies
Inflation in China will cause the collapse of the regime
by Wei Jingsheng
To make a few people wealthy, the communist government keeps most of the population in poverty. If they really have the welfare of their people at heart, Beijing must allow the revaluation of the Yuan and should open the market to the West.
Washington (AsiaNews) - The inflation that is hitting China recently, the cause of many social protests, is different from any other to have ever occurred in the country: it continues to grow and can be simply explained by the greed of a minority of people, exploiting the cheap labour and authoritarianism of the regime to get rich.
Wei Jingsheng, pro-democracy activist and author of Democracy Wall, explains why the Chinese government is playing with fire at this critical stage of development: only democratic governments, he says, "can successfully manage an economic transformation similar to the one taking place in contemporary China”.
China's economy often has excessive inflation. But each inflation is not exactly the same. The inflation during the Mao Zedong era was due to the shortage of goods caused by the planned economy. Academics call it a shortage economy. After the economic reform of the 1980's, inflation is still emerging consistently. At present the recently rising currency inflation has such intensity that it has made many people puzzled: "Since China has been reformed to a market economy, why is it still short of commodities, and has this inflation?"

Another Belgian Marxist Charged With Degenerate Conduct to Children

Pope Says Normal Marriage Makes Europe, Europe
[Sexuality and Gender] With all the diplomatic comings and goings in Vatican City, L’Osservatore Romano, the Vatican weekly newspaper, is kept busy reporting on which diplomats are leaving, which new ones are arriving, what members of the Church hierarchy are retiring, and so on.
The descriptions of new arrivals to their diplomatic posts at the Vatican are especially interesting since they always begin with the same three markers: how old the ambassador is, whether he or she is married, and how many children they have. Just last week, for instance, we learned that Fernando Felipe Sánchez Campos of Costa Rica is 36, married, with two children. And we learn that Gábor Győriványi of Hungary is 51, married, with four children.
Yet there may be a more subtle rationale to this standard formula of diplomatic description than the simple recitation of facts.

The goal of your Fraternity is still to integrate the Catholic Church?
Yes, we have always maintained that we do not wish to go our own way. We maintain that we are Catholic and that we remain so. We wish that Rome will recognize us as true Bishops. Otherwise, the word schismatic is not used any longer regarding us. Now, if we are not schismatics, nor heretics, then we are truly Catholic. Otherwise, the Pope says that there is solely a problem of a canonical nature. An act of Rome suffices to state that it's over and that we reenter the Church. This will happen [Ça viendra.]. I am very optimistic.

Only a Third of Americans believe that Obama is a Christian: Ergo, Obama Goes to Church
Obama Visits Marines in the wake of His DADT Decision
Washington (www.kath.net/ idea) During his Christmas holiday to Hawaii Barack Obama went to Church with his family. Obama, his Frau Michelle and both daughtetrs Malia and Sasha took part in a service at St. Michael's church at the US-Marine Base according to "Christian Post" (Washington).
In the past year the president didn't go to church while he was in Hawaii. Polls afterward showed that only one third of Americans believe that Obama is a Christian. In the past year about a half of the population was of this opinion. Protestant pastors weighed in at 41 percent that the US President is a Christian. In this year's Christmas message Obama recalled the origina and the meaning of the Christmas feast: "It is the time in which we celebrate the most simple and at the same time, deepest gift -- the birth of a child, who committed his life to a mission of peace, love and salvation, a mission, which tells us: we are all equal, and we are called to love one another. We are the protectors of our brothers and sisters."

The Anglican Use Society of St. Bede the Venerable
![]() |
Founding Members of the Venerable Bede Society |
Collegeville is an ugly place that unabashedly shoots for a contrived and cozy get-along-with the world complacency. Anglo-Catholicism is about the beauty, or at least it should be.
"Abbot" John Klassen, an inveterate Old Liberal, has given his permission for the Anglo-Catholics to say Mass at Collegeville. You can see from the photos provided at the Anglo-Catholic, that the setting isn't the most appealing. Well, you can fool some of the people some of the time, but you can't fool them all the time.
But now St. John's has another faux Catholic cyberspot in addition to its other one, "Prey, Tell", that's called, "The Society of the Venerable Bede".
Nevertheless, "charity thinketh no evil," and so we ought to rejoice that something good is coming out of Collegeville; yet, we must ask why the powers that be at St. John's would want to promote ad-orientem, Anglo-Catholic liturgy when such liturgy is opposed to everything they support. Could it be that they hate everything Roman so much that traditional Anglican forms of liturgy are ok? Or is the Anglican Use just the next liturgical experiment in an attempt try something "new"?

Pope's Appointments Committed to Orthodoxy?
“Benedict’s new curia”
Vatican observer analyzes Pope Benedict XVI’s high-level appointments: all committed to orthodoxy, most are intellectuals
Editor: We were spot on when it came to the Cardinatial appointments, because we cited Paolo Rodari, and although we'd hoped that Cardinal Marx would have his hat yanked at the last minute, we were not wrong to put our trust in the Italian Vaticanista and defender of the Holy Father. We'd also like to think that kreuz.net's analysis is spot on when it comes to the flavor of Cardinals we have. Most of them are Old Liberals with only two that are devoted, unreserved Catholics. Like Cardinal Wuerl, Cardinal Marx doesn't belong in the College of Cardinals.
Anyhow, Remember, this is John L Allen Jr., over at the National Catholic Reefer. Careful, the paper they use is made from hemp and if you wrap your fish in it, it could cause a contact high with the THC content in their fish-wrap.
(The following are excerpts from an article by John L. Allen Jr. published by The National Catholic Reporter. While the Reporter is widely known as a left-leaning, heterodox publication, Mr. Allen has developed a well-earned reputation as a knowledgeable and even-handed reporter on Church matters, and especially on the Vatican.)
Speculation about Vatican jobs is always a favorite pastime in Rome, and these days the spotlight is on the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life, popularly known as the Congregation for Religious, where the incumbent, Slovenian Cardinal Franc Rodé, is past the retirement age of 75.
Sometime after Christmas, Pope Benedict XVI is expected to name a successor. That choice will be watched especially closely in the United States, since it’s the office in charge of the current, and highly controversial, apostolic visitation of American nuns…
The bigger picture, however, arguably is this: Once that job is filled, Benedict will have named 21 of the 25 most senior officials of the Roman curia (a list that includes the secretary of state, prefects of nine congregations, presidents of 12 pontifical councils, and heads of three canonical courts). Benedict’s “new curia” has therefore come into focus -- and since personnel is policy, these appointments say much about where he’s taking the church.

He Was Released From Prison Four Months Ago Before Attacking Fulda Priest
The Priest is still under nursing care. He is still dependent on a wheelchair and must be artificially fed and can no longer speak.
(kreuz.net) On last Tuesday the National Court in Fulda the trial began for the attempted murder of Prelate Aloysius Winter. (78).
The priest is the former rector of the theological faculty.
He was assailed brutally in his house on Haimbacher street in Fulda.
The alleged suspect David O. (31) was looking for money and valuables in order to finance his drug habit.
He knew his victim, because the priest had given him small jobs to do previously.
Cold Blooded Overall
On the evening of the crime the perpetrator broke through the closed bedroom door.
He broke through and was confronted by the priest who attempted to defend himself with a tazer.
David O. struck him brutally. The prelate suffered life threatening injuries.
Upon noticing his absence at early Mass in the Cathedral, parishoners alerted the police. They later found him seriously injured and unconscious.
The perpetrator stole 200 Euros and a small money case.
He was identified from the DNA traces left under the fingernails of his victim.
A Drug Criminal
David O is a trained steal worker. Already for a long time he has been dependent on alcohol and drugs and for that reason homeless and unemployed.
He has been punished previously for trafficking in drugs. In the past, he has been incarcerated in the Adult Correctional Facility in Fulda.

Because he had a disagreement with his mother's boyfriend, and for that reason he was sent to a home in Gersfeld in the County of Fulda.
At eighteen he returned to Fulda and fell into drugs.
He had has five previous convictions -- all for robbery -- and breaking and entering.
In the past he has served one two year detention. This ended four months prior to his attack on Prelate Winter.

Three other hearings are scheduled for the 11th, 18th and 19th of January.

Catholic group looks to form Latin parish
The first time Ashley Paver stepped into St. Mark's Church in Evanston, he knew he'd found the right place.

The tile mosaics, soaring arches, marble steps and lush stained glass windows gave the church the look and feel of an Italian basilica. As he walked through the empty church, Paver could almost hear the Gregorian chants and Latin prayers that defined Catholic Mass for centuries, from the Middle Ages to the 1960s. He could think of no better place to celebrate that ancient Mass again.

USCCB Promotes Socialist Causes: Often Silent about Catholic Ones
Editor: The USCCB is good good at undermining things, making useless pronouncments, creating the conditions of the decline and obsolescence of the Catholic Church in America. Their agendas are out of the Marxist playbook: disarmament, false ecumenism, updating, diversity, "peace and justice" stuff and so on and so forth. The only thing the USCCB can be counted on doing is attacking the Catholic Church, so Tom Roesser, thanks to Tom at AQ.

The only time in the New Testament when the apostles of Christ…later to become the first bishops… turned collegial came at Gethsemane after the chief priests and Pharisees arrived to arrest Jesus. The four gospels agree and say the same thing:“they all fled.” [Hat tip: Michael Voris].Of course that was before the intercession of the Holy Spirit. After the coming of the Holy Spirit most of them held so courageously for the Church they went on to martyrdom. Since then things have been, oh, so-so. For example when England turned Protestant with a vengeance (sufficient enough to behead Thomas More) all the bishops fled…accepting the clerical domination of the King instead of the Pope, except one—St. John Fisher.

The Holy Family -- The Model For Every Family
After violent attacks against Christians in Nigeria and the Philippines the Pope called for peace and forgiveness.
Rome [kath.net/as] This year the Feast of the Holy Family fell on the first Sunday after Christmas on today's feast of St. Stephen. In his address before the traditional prayer of the Angelus, Pope Benedict expressed the unity of the Holy Family, which must be a model for every family.
After the Angelus the Pope discussed the episodes of violence which occured in the Phillipines and in Nigeria against Christians, which in the Philippines claimed 32and in Nigeria a dozen lives. Benedict XVI renewed an urgent call for peace and reconciliation and explained his sorrow for the victims of this "absurd act of violence".
"I renew again my outcry to leave the way of hate, for peaceful solutions for these conflicts, and to create security and peace for these dear people," said Benedict XVI. "On this day, when we celebrate the feast of the Holy Family, who survived the dramatic experience of beimg pursued by Herod's murderous anger into Egypt, remind us also of everyone and especially families who are forced to leave their homes because of war. To flee violence and intolerance. I invite you, therefore, to join me in prayer, to ask the Lord that He could touch the hearts of men and instill hope, reconciliation and peace.
On the feast of the Holy Family the Pope asks the faithful, to consider this "Ikon", in which the small Jesus in the midst of affection and concern of His parents. Every child has something of this mystery within. People don't only experience the procreation of children solely as a pure act of reproduction. They "take its richness for real and understand that every person, who comes into the world, comes as a sign for the prominence of the creator and the Father in Heaven." For this reason it is important that every child that comes into the world should be received in to the warmth of a family.
Extraordinary luxuries are not important, said Benedict XVI rather just the love of the father and the mother. This gives the child security and places him in their care, to discover the reason for life.
The Holy Father greeted the pilgrims from Germany with the following words:
A Christmas Greeting for the pilgrims and visitors in the German language. Today we celebrate the Feast of the Holy Family. The word of God has become man and has grown in a family, which had protected him from the storms of the time. Jesus Christ also blessed our families and left the gift of his divine love shining in them. For you and your loves I wish you a Grace filled Christmas time.

German Ecumenism-Bishops Don't Want Dialogue with Traditionalists

Fr. Schmidberger in his Christmas Video Address |
[kreuz.net] The Christ Child is the King of all times and lands. This was what the German District Superior of the Society of St. Pius X,, Father Franz Schmidberger said this Holy Night in a video speech.
The timely and even more, eternal fate of every single person is dependent upon his connection to the Christ Child.
Fr. Schmidberger called all men to come and kneel at the Manger.
With the Old Liturgy The Traditional Faith Will Return
With a look back on the year of 2010 Father Schmidberger was especially happy about an "increasingly sizeable number of young priests and seminarians who love the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass".
Contacts with the work of the Society of St. Pius X and an enthusiastic interest with it is a felicitous indicator:
"With the growing interest in the Liturgy there is also a preparedness to promote the Gospel without reservations even in a secular society."
Many young seminarians would like to fill, to reduce the faith with a purely human "improvement mission" -- explained the priest.
Although a return to the values of the truth Faith is for many seminarians a heartfelt concern.
"Meanwhile it is for many in the old generation, who steadfastly persist in reviving the promises of the "Spirit of the Council' -- contests the District Superior.
The proof is that the "Ideology of the Council" will be obsolete sooner or later.
German Bishops Ignore the Pope
In the video Father Schmidberger criticized the disposition of the majority of the German Episcopate:
"Many Bishops are still completely prejudiced against the work of Tradition of Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre."
The lifting of the excommunications of January 2009 appeared as far as the Bishops were concerned to be "not to have arrived".
"The friendly hand shown by the Holy Father is almost completely ignored in Germany."
The discussions with Rome stand in complete opposition to the situation in Germany -- Fr. Schmidberger says:
"Although there are naturally still objective differences, the discussions are being held in a good atmosphere of mutual respect."
The perpedness to dialogue by the Bishops of Germany have a large backlog:
"It also touches us painfully that the same Shepherds have not amended the adulteration of the words of Consecration, although the Congregeation of Worship has already proposed this since October of 2006."

Holy Night in Hell: Carmelite in KZ
The French Carmelite Priest and Prisoner P. Jacques de Jésus spread hope with a Mass in KZ Gusen.
KZ Gusen was called the "Hell of Hells". But even there Christmas was celebrated. On the parade ground and in secret: the prisoner P. Jacques was able to celebrate Mass on 24. Dezember 1944. It was the most moving Liturgy of his life, reported a survivor.
A more perverse situation can not be imagined. It was the early evening of the 24th of December. Thousands of marled forms stood clothed in thin rags on the ice cold parade ground of Gusen and had to sing Christmas songs -- for their tormentors. The SS-Men even took off their hats and listened to the German and Polish songs. He had experienced much in 25 Months at Gusen, which is unimagineable, said the prisoner Louis Deblé: This Christmas feast stood out in an unimagineable way. A large Christmas tree stood there, where normally the mobile gallows was set up.
The "Pastor of Gusen". There was also another Christmas in the camp in 1944. The "Pastor of Gusen", as the prisoners called P. Jacques, had his hands full with much to do. Evidently, there was only work till midday, there the civilian foremen, the Capos and the SS-Men went home or also wanted to rest. That afforded the possibility to move within the confines of the camp more safely than usual. Unswervingly, prisoners sook P. Jacques out in order to do penance, and he went to several groups of Poles to give short meditations. Even the 400 children of the camp, for whom a Christmas tree was organized, he stopped and made a visit and finally made his way on this night to the sick, the moribund.
A chalice from weapon-steel. About 8 O'Clock he began in Block 18with the chrism. Between the beds the prisoners stood --- men from 15 nations sang in their mother tongues. Upon the Consecration, P. Jacques knelt in his prison uniform before his bed where stood the Chalice and Paten. A prisoner had made the chalice out of steel from rifle barrels, the wine came from a civil worker. The hosts came from a Polish seminarian who had carried them since 1940. The other prisoner Gaston Passagez stood during the Mass completely near to P Jacques: "never have I seen such concentration with my own eyes, such an interiority -- I was moved to tears." On this place of inhumanity was celebrated God becoming Man. After the Mass the prisoners embraced one another. "I will remember this night my whole life long", said a Polish witness of the Mass. P. Jacques died shortly after the liberation of the camp by the Elisabethinen in Linz.

"God Protect Austria" -- New Book About Pius XII Confirms Rejection of Hitler's Ideology
(Vatikan/Vienna) A new book about Pope Pius XII affords a further confirmation that future Pope Pius XII would stand against National Socialism and Adolf Hitler. "It betrays the clarity with which Pius XI and his State Secretary and future successor, Cardinal Eugenio Pacelli, rebutted the attempt, and the danger to underestimate, that was assessed to the German Reich's desire to seize nearby Austria." With a discussion of the new book, "God protect Austria!" by Paolo Valvo Osservatore Romano attempts to explain the relationship of Pius XII to National Socialism.
Valvo presents new material from the Vatican Archive. "The freeing up of Vatican Sources to the end of the Pontificate of Pius XI. in 2006, allowed for a new appreciation and a deeper understanding about the events then, above all for the time at the end of the First World War till the dawn of the Second," says Msgr Antonio Filipazzi in his review. Naturally, said Msgr Filipazzi, it will not fail those who, because of their opinions and deep prejudices or look for "verification of their preconceived notions" and choose to "ignore" the plentiful documentation, which don't correspond to their prejudices. Athough they are not found, they don't correct their opion, rather they they are determined to promote archive openings.
The situation which Valvo substantiates, establishes on the contrary, that Pius XI and the future Pius XII., "show they held the possible collaboration between the Hitler Movement and the Catholic Church as a complete impossibility , and not even in an anti-Bolshevist function," says Filipazzi.
The Italian ambassador to the Holy See, Bonfiacio Pignatti, attempted to advise the past Cardinal Secretary "despite his famous, insurmountable opposition against everything that savored of Nazism, that it would is beneficial to Austria, to improve its relationship to the Reich". For it was from this demonstrable opposition against National Socialism which dictated the complete policy of Cardinal Pacelli's during his years in Austria and left him, to be described according to the accommodating disposition of some of the Austrian Bishops toward Hitler as "the most shameful chapter in Church History."

On Thankfulness in the Christmas Season. Is Pray Tell a Catholic Blog?
While we’ll probably never know why, the liberal Benedictine blog run by our *friends* in Collegeville has removed the post on the blasphemous and sacrilegious “adaptation” of a traditional Catholic hymn to contemporary “lyrics.” EF covered the story here:
Scripture says that whenever a sinner repents, all heaven rejoices, so we should as well. Indeed, we must also rejoice in this holy season that the Holy See has held back the deluge of “liberal” “liturgy” that would otherwise ensue if the “liturgists” at Collegeville were free of Roman oversight. For a particularly horrid example of what they would concoct, take a look at what their Coreligionists have done to Presbyterian worship:
Having mentioned protestant worship, we ought to ask if Pray Tell is a Catholic blog. While Catholic Benedictines started it and are obsessed with the improved translation of the Roman Missal, the blog’s description does not use the word “Catholic” to describe itself. Perhaps it’s just a “catholic” blog.
So when a Lutheran contributor wrote about the last O Antiphon, should we be surprised?
