Clarín: "Will Pope Francis Carry Out a Historical Turning Point for the Divorced and Remarried"

Edit: the real attention-getter is that the heretical Danube Cardinal will be reading it.  We'll remind you that he is not only the man who allowed the vile pornographic creations of the Communist Alfred Hrdlika to hang in his cathedral church (he's also buried in the cemetery)  and bookstore, but he also confirmed the approval of an aberrosexual in a civil partnership as head of the parish council in one of his parishes, in front of the flashing cameras of the media.  We don't understand why a man who adores Conchita Wurst is still a priest, much less a man responsible for the souls of millions of Austrians, but it's not our decision.

(Rome) On Friday in two days, the post-synodal letter of Pope Francis on the family will be presented. So far the only thing  known is that the letter begins with the words "Amoris Laetitia" and that it will be presented on Friday by Cardinals Lorenzo Baldisseri and Christoph Schönborn at the Vatican. Cardinal Baldisseri has been raised by Pope Francis to the state of cardinal and appointed Secretary General of the Synod of Bishops. He is considered a close confidant Pope. Cardinal Schönborn has since 1995 been Archbishop of Vienna and since 1998 chairman of the Austrian Bishops' Conference. He was brought into the College of Cardinals by Pope John Paul II in 1996.
The Dominican from an ancient noble house was particularly appreciated by Benedict XVI. to whose student circle he belonged, and in addition to which he was editor of the World Catechism. However, Pope Francis does not seem to appreciate him any less. The approach is in direct connection with the Synod of Bishops, in which Vienna's Archbishop stuck his neck out too far with daring theories on homosexuality and a "gradation" of the marriage.

Papal thanks for Cardinal Schönborn

Anyway, he is currently the highest dignitary of the German-speaking world, who was afforded visibility by Pope Francis in Rome. During the Synod of Bishops he had entrusted him with an honorable task. Schoenborn was allowed to hold the speech at the ceremony, which was organized on the 50th anniversary of the Conciliar statements. It was Schönborn   above all else, was organized the compromise fomrula on 23 and 24 October, for the final report of the synod, which prevented a breach between a majority of the Synod Fathers and the Pope at the last moment. It was  clear how close it was since one of the controversial articles was nevertheless adopted only by a razor-thin majority of one vote.
That Cardinal Schönborn will present the highly anticipated post-synodal letter "Amoris Laetitia" on Friday, which is meant as thanks the Pope.  From a diplomatically predisposed house - his family represents not only the church, with many bishops, but the old Empire also with ministers and diplomats - Schönborn is the link to the rebellious German princes of the church together with the smug apparatchiks who again are rehearsing their uprising against Rome.
The Argentine newspaper Clarín's headline the day before yesterday: "Francis could announce a major turn for divorcees". The unnamed author's piece awakens the "hope" that Pope Francis "will give the green light on Friday for the bishops to grant the remarried divorcees the sacraments."

Squaring the circle

Specifically, says Clarín , it will be "hoped" that the pope transmits the power to the bishops   to decide independently whether they would offer a "penitential" course, leading to the re-admission to the sacraments. The newspaper tried to play square the circle:
"The 'penitential way'  confirms on one hand that the Catholic marriage is indissoluble by divine will, while on the other hand it offers the possibility that the divorcee who married civilly for a second time, can regain admission to communion, which was withdrawn from them because they live with their new partners in a state of serious disorder. "
The newspaper asks: "Will the Pope consummate the historic change that a church marriage can be dissolved in certain cases, which it rejects doctrinally, but  allows in practice?"

German bishops threaten "going alone"

For the majority of the German bishops the "penitential path"  for the admission to the sacraments must end. If Rome does not agree, they would practice independently, "as they have been threatened on several occasions". [Which they've been doing for decades and even centuries.]
However, there was "strong opposition by conservatives and defenders of doctrine". The newspaper calls by name the Cardinals Gerhard Müller, the "influential" CDF prefect, and Robert Sarah, Prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship, who stands behind the "the bulk of the African Church."
For them, "marriage is indissoluble and neither the Church nor the pope can change the will of God". The "penitential path" is not a "second chance" to enter a new marriage, as in the Orthodox Church. "There could therefore come some stormy times of the Church," said Clarin.
But Pope Francis will decide? In his book " Codigo Francisco " wrote Marcelo Larraquy: "When he was Cardinal of Buenos Aires,  doctrine was not one of his special interests. He employed more pastoral solutions to the problems of the faithful. "Priests in his diocese had not denied the doctrine, to which they are held. But they could  "feel free" to act on the pastoral level, because "Rome was far away." The canonical prohibition against "remarried divorcees recieving Communion,  did not prevent them from receiving in some parishes."

Why is this Pope Determined to Recognize the SSPX?

(Rome) Is Pope Francis soon  set to take an extraordinary step in favor of the SSPX? "It is a common opinion in the Vatican, and particularly among those who are close to the Pontifical Commission Ecclesia Dei, which is responsible for the Lefebvrian  dossier that the Pope will soon perform an arbitrary and spectacular gesture towards the Society of St. Pius X," as the Vatican expert Marco Tosatti writes in his blog.
The long conversation between the Pope and the Superior General of the SSPX, Bishop Bernard Fellay, on April 1, was "certainly a sign in that direction."
This is the question hanging in the room, just  why a Pope who "certainly has no sympathy for the Conservatives, and permits that the Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate are put through the meat grinder for years because of the mere suspicion of, 'Lefebvrian  tendencies',  seems ready again to fully recognize the former schismatics. There are two possible answers in this issue," says Tosatti.

The penchant for spectacular gestures

The first  reason is the predisposition of character of the Pope, which is his desire and  satisfaction of making some sensational gestures like the embrace with the Russian Orthodox Patriarch Kirill I in Cuba. Gestures that neither John Paul II. nor Benedict XVI. were granted, his two direct predecessors whose pontificates he regards with some inner distance. In this case, both had endeavored with great dedication for it. Suitable areas for spectacular gestures include the SSPX. The approach under John Paul II. culminated with the declared excommunication by Rome in the exact opposite direction.  Benedict XVI. received Bishop Fellay soon after his election in audience, and thus laid the foundation for the talks not aborted since then. In 2009 he lifted  the Decree of Excommunication and in May 2012, canonical recognition seemed virtually certain. But things turned out differently, and with the choice of the Argentine Pope every prospect seemed further away than ever.

The assessment that tradition is obsolete

The second  reason is a strategic analysis of the Pope and thus the appearance, of how Pope Francis sees the traditionalists. Despite their considerable strength, ( "some say a million," said Tosatti) the  pope does not consider them numerically dangerous. According to the logic that Francis expressed concern in February 2014 to the Czech bishops, he sees the interest in the traditional form of the Roman Rite as "just a fad". In his opinion, the views and positions, also the theology,  of tradition is outdated. History will prove them wrong.  The Pope represents, according to this opinion, that self aware  overconfidence in the victory of progressive thinking that thinks it is rightis by definition. The Pope would be strengthened in this opinion  by his observation that the influence of the traditionalists in the Church and the mass media seems low. Their  recognition and regularizatiin  is therefore a cost-effective opportunity to prove his own generosity and fatherhood with a spectacular media-step. Closing a soon to be 30 year old wound would contribute to Francis' entry in church history, even if in his view, it would only be the size of a footnote.

French Bishop Doesn't Know That Pedophilia is a Sin

(Paris) The French Bishop Stanislas Lalanne has said that pedophilia is  "evil," but he "could not say" whether pedophilia is a sin. The statements of the bishop were challenged in a  protest by a victim's organization. [Why not the vaunted Catholic blogdim,  or more importantly, local Catholics.] They said that  words of the bishop were "embarrassing" and for the victims, "degrading". [They're not even Catholic.]

"Paedophilia is an evil. But is it a sin? I don't know to decide. It is different for each person. However, it is an evil, and the most important thing to do is to protect the victim or potential victim. "

These were the words the bishop used on the radio station RCF, an association of 63 Christian, francophone radio stations.

Bishop Lalanne took part in a program entitled "The Church of France and pedophilia." The broadcaster addressed the accusations against Cardinal Philippe Barbarin, Archbishop of Lyon, that the office of the prosecutor  is investigating the suspicion that he had not precented a priest of his diocese in time from sexual violence.

The Association La Parole Libérée which had drawn attention to the sexual abuse by a priest of the Archdiocese of Lyon, protested today with a declaration on the words of Bishop Lalanne. His statements were "embarrassing" and also "degrading to the victims of pedophilia".

Msgr. Lalanne was born in 1948 in Metz and consecrated a priest in 1975 for the diocese of Versailles. In 1997 he headed the press office at World Youth Day in Paris and later the Pastoral Office of the Diocese of Versailles. In 2007 he was appointed by Pope Benedict XVI. bishop of Coutances and appointed in 2013 as the bishop of Pontoise.

Growing Traditional Abbey of Wisques Elects Abbot

(Paris) In October 2013, the re-colonization of the Benedictine Abbey of Wisques by the old Rite Benedictine monks of Fontgombault has taken place. After a transitional period, Wisques became an independent abbey again. Last Sunday a new abbot was elected.

After the clear-cutting of the French Revolution  Benedictine monastic life slowly returned to France. The Abbey of St. Paul of Wisques was founded in 1889. The monks were expelled in 1901 by anti-Catholic laws yet again and found refuge in the Netherlands. In 1920 they managed to return.

Wisques followed the liturgical reform in 1970 and introduced the new rite. The youth did not materialize. Although in 2009 there were still 14 monks in the monastery,  the "youngest" was already 72 years old. For 25 years no novice had come. The community could therefore choose no more abbots. The Abbot of Solesmes appointed an administrator. Thus began the search for a solution that was found in Fontgombault.

The new rite led to the end of the Abbey - The old Rite makes  it new

With the approval of Bishop Jean-Paul Jaeger of Arras, the abandoned convent was transferred to the old Rite Benedictine monastery Of Our Lady of Fontgombault. This had not implemented the liturgical reform of the late 60s and enjoys numerous vocations.

Early in 2013 the first monks came from Fontgombault to Wisques. They held to the traditional rite and the old Divine Office. The experience has been very positive. Since October 2013, the old Rite convent has 18 monks. Since that moment,  Wisques is suffragan of the the Abbey of Fontgombault. Their abbot, Dom Jean Pateau, was also administrator of Wisques.

After a transition period an abbatial election had taken place on Sunday, April 3. Dom Philippe de Montauzan, the sixth abbot of Wisques and first since the old ritual repopulation. He has held the position of Prior since 2013. De Montauzan was previously novice master of the Abbey Fontgombault. The repopulation of Wisques took place under his leadership.

The blessing of the new abbot will be held this coming June 4th.

Wisques is located in the extreme north-east of France near the Belgian border. The Dutch town name is Wizeke (place of Wico). The area belonged in the 18th century to the German or Dutch-speaking area. The French-Dutch language border is still barely ten kilometers east of Wisques.

Today's Gospel

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 20:19-31.

Now when it was late the same day, the first of the week, and the doors were shut, where the disciples were gathered together, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst and said to them: Peace be to you.
And when he had said this, he shewed them his hands and his side. The disciples therefore were glad, when they saw the Lord.
He said therefore to them again: Peace be to you. As the Father hath sent me, I also send you.
When he had said this, he breathed on them; and he said to them: Receive ye the Holy Ghost.
Whose sins you shall forgive, they are forgiven them: and whose sins you shall retain, they are retained.
Now Thomas, one of the twelve, who is called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.
The other disciples therefore said to him: We have seen the Lord. But he said to them: Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails and put my finger into the place of the nails and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.
And after eight days, again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them. Jesus cometh, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst and said: Peace be to you.
Then he said to Thomas: Put in thy finger hither and see my hands. And bring hither the hand and put it into my side. And be not faithless, but believing.
Thomas answered and said to him: My Lord and my God.
Jesus saith to him: Because thou hast seen me, Thomas, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen and have believed.
Many other signs also did Jesus in the sight of his disciples, which are not written in this book.
But these are written, that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God: and that believing, you may have life in his name.

Mass Immigration: Pope Francis Flies to the Island of Lesbos -- Lampedusa 3

Pope Francis on Lampedeusa in 2013
(Rome) Pope Francis announced his visit to the Greek island of Lesbos, which is currently the flashpoint of mass migration ignited toward the direction of Europe. After visiting the island of Lampedusa on July 8, 2013, Holy Mass on the border fence on the US-Mexico border on February 18, 2016, Lesbos will be  the third act on the 15th of April of papal refugee activism.

Pope Francis is, next to German Chancellor Merkel, currently the most media effective "Ambassador" for an uncontrolled and undifferentiated mass immigration to Europe. Like no other world leader, he knows how to make the "migration Front" visible and at the same time engage a  one-sided indictment of  "separation" and "exclusion." Here even the Pope spoke last March 4th of an " Arab invasion" of Europe, which he would like to understand, however,  as an "opportunity".

What will change the agreement between the EU and Turkey?

The island of Lesbos is currently in the media spotlight. The reason is the agreement between the EU and Turkey. Turkey has agreed to take back rejected asylum seekers from the EU, but only under conditions. The first condition are billions of payments to Ankara. The second condition is that for each asylum seeker withdrawn from Turkey, another is admitted to the asylum procedure in the EU. In addition to the costs, it means the regulation of mass immigration can be continued in the EU, with the approval of Brussels and Berlin.

Whether the agreement holds that Turkey is a reliable partner, and if the rejected asylum seekers will behave remains to be seen. Additionally it  must be shown whether the agreement is followed through on.

Doubtful helping hand by the Pope

The advocates of "welcoming culture" have been put to the test  of their outrage at Brenner on 3 April on the Italian-Austrian border. They  see the island of Lesbos as a symbol of a "repressive" EU migration policy. Organizations have been called to  rally at Brenner, who were allegedly involved in the deadly "escape route" at Indumeni. Migrants were incited to force entry into the EU by the European extremists. They refer to themselves as "river helpers", had compelled them to force their way into the European Union.  Three migrants who arrived at the torrential border river died.  For these "staged humanitarian catastrophes" none of the inciters was still held criminally responsible. The radical nature of these forces appears even to condone the death of their "protégés," in order to force a population exchange in Europe.

Pope Francis in turn appears poised by his presence, to provide indirect help to protect the extreme position. There currently is no evidence that there will be the desired effect for an anticipated differentiation of the phenomenon on his third visit that one would expect from the Catholic Church leader on Lesbos. The intellectual honesty demands a differentiation and the people of Europe expect a differentiation, that it should no longer be impressed with the impression that there is merely interest in the fate of migrants, but not the fate of Europe and the Europeans.

Priestly Community of Saint Martin Confirms General Superior

Community of Saint Martin
(Paris) The General Chapter of the Community of Saint Martin (Communauté Saint-Martin) confirmed Abbé Paul Préaux for a new term of six years as Moderator General (Superior General). The General Chapter met on 4-5th April.
A primary goal of the new term of office is the type of Rome established propaedeuticum to check the seminarians for their suitability. In addition, the needs of the bishops should be more taken into account in the formation of priests to expand in the "medium term on the Community's international character,"  as it says in a statement on the priestly community.

Four bishops, 94 priests, 104 deacons and seminarians

The Community of Saint Martin was founded in 1976 by Father Jean-François Guérin (1929-2005). Guérin was a priest of the Archdiocese of Tours in France, but also an  Oblate of the  Benedictine Monastery of Fontgombault. This explains the charism in which he founded his priestly community. They celebrated in the new rite, but in Latin with Gregorian chant and ad Deum , without people's altar. The community thus represents a special form among the  new Rite communities. This special care for the liturgy includes prayer in the community choir. Although it is a community of secular priests, the spirituality is strongly influenced by the Benedictine.
The first ecclesial recognition was made in 1979 by the then Archbishop of Genoa, Cardinal Giuseppe Siri. The General House was relocated to France in 1993.  2000 saw the papal approval. The community is under the Congregation for Clergy. The Community emphasis is in France where it is represented in fifteen dioceses. Additional offices are in Italy and in Cuba.
The community today has 94 priests and more than 100 seminarians. Four members of the community of priests were consecrated as bishops, including the incumbent Bishop of Bayonne, Msgr. Marc Aillet, the reigning Bishop of Pamiers, Msgr. Jean-Marc Eychenne, and titular bishop Msgr. Nicolas Thevenin, currently Apostolic Nuncio to Guatemala.

Interest in Weingarten Abbey

In 2009 the community wanted to colonize Weingarten Abbey which had been abandoned by Benedictines. The monastery with a blood reliquary is on a Saint Martin Mountain. One reason why the French priests' community expressed interest. The relevant negotiations with the Diocese of Rottenburg-Stuttgart have since not canceled, but have not given any results. "There are doubts" in the diocese about the "suitability" of the community, was what Bishop Gebhard Fürst said in 2012. This had to do with the French character of the community. Moreover, the "conservative" character of the community and its liturgical particularity is suspected as the reason for the sluggish talks.
Meanwhile, the empty cells of the monks have been used since August 2015 to house refugees. Weingarten monastery has, for the time being, the status of a Bedarfsorientierte Erstaufnahmeeinrichtung (BEA) [Need-based Reception Center].
Because of their proximity to Benedictine spirituality, the  Community of Saint Martin works for the acquisition and revitalization of abandoned Benedictine monasteries. Since 2014, the seminary and the general house is located in the former Benedictine abbey of Évron. Founded in the 7th century, it was a victim at the end of the 18th century of the French Revolution. In 1803, when the storms had weakened, the   Congregation of the Sisters of Charity took over the former Abbey and gathered again after their dispersal by the Jacobin regiment, which was not possible during the revolution. In 2012 the sisters sold the former abbey to the priestly community.
Abbé Paul Préaux is the third General Moderator of the Community.

Rome and the Society of Saint Pius X: "The Meeting Went Well" -- "It Goes in the Direction of a Personal Prelature"

"The Meeting Went Well", according to Il Foglio according to
its Vatican Sources
(Rome) Matteo Matzuzzi, the Vatican expert of the Italian daily Il Foglio , reported initially on Monday  that Bishop Bernard Fellay, Superior General of the Society of St. Pius X, was received by Pope Francis in private audience last Friday. Here is Matzuzzi's piece:

The Pope Met Bernard Fellay, head of the Lefebvrians

The pope on Saturday 1 received Bernard Fellay, the superior general and direct successor 2 of Monsignor Marcel Lefebvre at the head of St. Pius X. The conversation "was positive" as Il Foglio  learned from Vatican sources. Between Francis and Fellay "the consultation went well."
It is a further step towards canonical recognition of the Fraternity to the Holy See in the form of an ad hoc erected Prelature on the model of Opus Dei, therefore with far-reaching and not only organizational autonomy.
In an interview recently translated into five languages and published on the website of the  Society, Fellay showed himself very open to dialogue, by repeatedly emphasizing his appreciation for the reigning pope:
"I would not be more surprised if he sees us as one of those margins, to which he obviously gives preference. And precisely in this perspective he uses the expression "to travel part of the way" with the people on the periphery, in the hope of being able to improve things. This is therefore not a firm resolution to come directly to the destination, one way or another, a way to go ... but the main thing is is quite peaceful, nice, without knowing very well where that will lead. This is probably one of the main reasons. "
Already towards the end of 2013 there was, as the internet site Rorate Caeli brought to light,  a first meeting in Santa Marta. However, It was not a conversation, but more of a chance encounter.
In an interview Fellay noted another aspect of which reveals how far the path to reconciliation has already progressed:
"Very surprising, since it is clear that Pope Francis wants to give us life and to survive. To anyone who wants to hear it, he says he will never do anything evil to the Fraternity. He also said that we are Catholic. He has refused to convict us as schismatics, he said, you are not schismatic, you are Catholic ', even if he subsequently used a somewhat enigmatic word  when he said we were on the way to full communion. For this expression, full communion, 'we would like to have a clear definition, because it looks as if  it corresponds to nothing precise. This is a feeling ... you do not know exactly what it is."
A decision in Econe where the Society has its headquarters 3 was particularly appreciated, relates to the pope granting permission that  Catholics may confess to  Lefebvrian priests. The Pope explained that in the letter last September 1, in which he granted an indulgence for the Jubilee Year:
"A final consideration concerns those faithful who for various reasons choose to attend churches officiated by priests of the Fraternity of St Pius X. This Jubilee Year of Mercy excludes no one. From various quarters, several Brother Bishops have told me of their good faith and sacramental practice, combined however with an uneasy situation from the pastoral standpoint. I trust that in the near future solutions may be found to recover full communion with the priests and superiors of the Fraternity. In the meantime, motivated by the need to respond to the good of these faithful, through my own disposition, I establish that those who during the Holy Year of Mercy approach these priests of the Fraternity of St Pius X to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation shall validly and licitly receive the absolution of their sins."

Bishop Voderholzer: "We have in Benedict XVI. a Pope, Whom Even Martin Luther Could Not Better Have Imagined."

Edit: one commenter laconically writes, "We have a Pope named Benedict XVI..."

Voderholzer said afterwards in sermon in St Peter: "We have in Benedict XVI. a Pope, whom even Martin Luther could not have better imagined."

Regensburg (kath.net/KNA/red) A delegation of the diocese Regensburg has met Emeritus Benedict XVI. in Rome. The occasion was a pilgrimage to Rome for the Year of Mercy, as the diocese announced in Regensburg on Monday. Bishop Rudolf Voderholzer handed Benedict XVI. a pilgrim scarf (photo available). The former Pope had folded this immediately and gave the pilgrims from home his warmest regards. Each participant got a photo with dedication.

In a sermon in St Peter, Voderholzer honored Benedict XVI before the pilgrims as well: "We have in Benedict XVI. a Pope, whom even Martin Luther could not have better imagined. A pope who sees it as one of his first tasks, with all the powers of reason and historical knowledge, to give a testimony about Jesus Christ. He has as much recognition around the world found as the theologian Pope, whose legacy we treasure in a qualified way, in Regensburg, that we may preserve and carry it into the future."

Edit: looks like a reference to the Regensburg Speech, which Voderholzer probably didn't appreciate.

"With Luther to Pope" -- Eccentric Pilgrimage Action

(Berlin) "With Luther to the Pope"  describes itself as an unusual "pilgrim action."  The Center for Youth Ministry of the Diocese of Magdeburg  has organized, together with the youth organizations of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany and the Evangelical Church in Anhalt is an "ecumenical journey to Rome".
"With Luther to the Pope" leaves a lot to be desired.  In fact,  the "Christian pilgrims" of Catholic and Protestant confession are not intending to pilgrimage to the tombs of the apostles in Rome. They want to present  "Theses and wishes for ecumenism" to Pope Francis, says Vatican Radio .
With its own website,  they advertised for the  800 located participants. "There are at least as many conceptions of God as there are people, and that's good," says the website of the 9th Ecumenical thesis, "Honouring Diversity". What the Catholic and Protestant organizers want to say is that each "idea" of God is indifferent. The bizarre  1st Ecumenical thesis is: "You're different, and that's my luck: I am only, because we are."
These "theories and desires" Although are not fixed yet, but are in "draft". Anyway, they should be 95 theses, in accordance with the obviously idealized model.

Catholic Diocese wants to bring  "With Luther" demands to  Rome

"With Luther to the Pope", its own website

The Bishop of Magdeburg is Msgr. Gerhard Feige, one of the last appointments of bishops by Pope John Paul II. In 2014  Feige appointed by Pope Francis to the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity.
Feige supported in 2015 the demand of Bishop Stephan Ackermann of Trier to change Catholic moral teaching. Feige said it was "finally time to stand open to the unvarnished reality and in the spirit of Jesus Christ, sensibly and fairly to struggle for responsible and life-serving solutions."  What was meant was the recognition of homosexuality, divorce, remarriage, and premarital sex.
This eccentric pilgrim action by a Catholic diocese, which wants to bring the "with Luther" demands to Rome,  finds a parallel to another controversial ecumenical initiative. On October 31, Pope Francis is to participate in  a Catholic-Lutheran Reformation commemoration in Sweden. Pilgrims will also  travel in autumn from all over Germany "With Luther to the Pope."
The patronage for the action has been assumed by  the ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Holy See, the former Education Minister Annette Schavan (CDU). Schavan belongs to the progressive ZdK milieu. From 1991 to 2008 she was a  member of the Central Committee of German Catholics [We Are Church types] and held from 1994 to 2005 the office of Vice President. The Forum of German Catholics designated the Schavan appointment as ambassador to the Holy See as an "affront to the Catholic Church".
The German Bishops' Conference has established in 2013 its own project site "Reformation commemoration".

Vatican Starts Its Own Internet Domain .Catholic

Top Level Domain .catholic will be activated.
(Rome) In October 2013, the Holy See secured the address for the top-level domain .catholic. from the international domain administration ICANN. Now the web pages of the Catholic Church are to be taken seriously with the move. Instead of the top-level domains such as .org , .info or country domains,   in future  URL addresses are to be used with its own top-level domain.

The State Secretariat of the Holy See announced the establishment of a working group for the launch of the new top-level domain. They will put it  into effect and coordinate the activation and move technically. The head of the group is Mauro Milita, the former computer science manager of Vatican Radio. When exactly will the URL addresses with the new top-level domain appear on the net, is not yet known.
All canonically recognized Catholic institutions such as dioceses and parishes, schools and universities, religious communities and organizations at the international, national or local level may obtain a URL address with the top-level domain .catholic (or in German-speaking .katholisch ).
To begin with it was to secure the rights in particular to protect against abuse. The Vatican did not want   the top-level domain to fall into the wrong hands. In addition to the English version, the rights were secured for all other language versions such as .katholisch , .catholique , .cattolico.
Securing the rights with ICANN cost the Vatican 165,000 euros. It wants to make sure that the web pages with the new top-level domain really originate from the Catholic Church and are operated by Catholic institutions.

Different Land, Different Bishops -- Poland's Bishops Demand Abolition of Abortion

(Warsaw) The Polish bishops are demanding, together with the pro-life movement, a complete protection of life and a total ban on abortion.
Currently, the killing of unborn children is allowed in exceptional cases, such as rape, until the 12th week of pregnancy, in cases of severe malformation of the fetus and when the mother is in danger of death. The current law dates back to 1993 and ended the communist regime introduced, "freedom" for the killing of unborn children. Even during the communist dictatorship, Poland had the most restrictive abortion law under the socialist republics of the Soviet bloc. In 1956, the killing of unborn children was legalized. The highest abortion rates were, according to statistics in the 1960s. The Soviet Union in 1920 was the first country in the world,  allowing the killing of unborn children under the law.
After the presidential and parliamentary elections of last year, which brought a change of government, the right to life organizations have now  presented a bill that has the support of the new national conservative PiS government confirmed by Prime Minister Beata Szydlo and the PiS leader Jaroslaw Kaczynski.
"You can not stop at the compromise of 1993"
"When it comes to protecting the lives of unborn children, you can not stop at the compromise of 1993," said the Polish Episcopal Conference.  A joint pastoral letter of the bishops was read yesterday, on White Sunday (Mercy Sunday),  in all parishes of the country. The bishops have called on the faithful to support the fight against the evil of abortion and advocate for comprehensive protection of unborn life. The protection of the lives of the  defenseless, innocent children must have validity in Poland.  It tells a lot about a nation how they treat  their unborn children.
The new bill provides that the killing of the unborn child should be possible only in mortal danger of the mother. Whoever performs at an illegal abortion or supports it will  be punished in future by five years in prison. At present, two years are provided, which thus can be suspended on probation.
According to the Ministry of Health legal abortions under the liberal economic previous government have almost quadrupled to 1,812 cases in 2014. Feminist organizations, however,  talk of 200,000 abortions a year, if you were to consider the women who go for abortion abroad. Evidence of these horrendous figures are however not presented. Since the early 1970s, there is a  proven standard of the abortion lobby  to assert completely excessive illegal abortion numbers to allow for  the "necessity" of a legal regulation, i.e. to justify the legalization of killing unborn children. Neutral observers currently  count 7,000-10,000 illegal abortions.

International institutions try to put Poland under pressure

Feminist and pro-abortion organizations agitate for the legalization of infanticide. The feminist group Feminoteka demonstrated with unscrupulous slogans for a "right" to kill unborn children, "My body belongs to me", "Abortion is sacred" and "Vade retro Pro Vita".
International institutions such as the EU and UN are exerting pressure on Poland to legalize infanticide. In November 2015, there came the perverse paradox that the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child, who were responsible for compliance with the UN Children's Convention in 1989 of Poland on behalf of the Children's Rights, demanded the legalization of abortion.

(Jerusalem) An unusual and serious incident took place in Bethlehem this weekend. The Palestinian police temporarily arrested the Syrian Orthodox Archbishop Swerios Malki Murad, as the Catholic news agency Fides reported. Archbishop Murad is responsible for the Syrian Orthodox faithful in the Holy Land.
The arrest occurred last Saturday night, April 2. According to a local observers report,   Palestinian police officers were on a vehicle convoy, collecting the church representative who was then on a visit to the Palestinian village of al-Khader, to Jerusalem. The diplomatic representation of Palestine to the Holy See announced, meanwhile, that the archbishop was released after a short interview. The Palestinian judicial authorities have not commented on the reasons for the arrest.
