A True Priest Doesn't Hide Himself

The Soutane which is required as clerical attire in the Church law books, shows itself to be ever a career killer.

(kreuz.net)"I have decided for several years now to almost exclusively wear the Soutane."

Father Hendrick Jolie said this for the most recent interview of the Catholic monthly magazine 'Kirchliche Umschau'.

The Soutane is is in the eyes of the clergyman an acceptable and practical possibility, it makes the clergyman stand out in public:

"The Priest is not >>better<<. but most probably he's, >>other<<'  -- he explains.

The robe offers its wearer in the experience of Father Jole "A Certain protection -- in public as also in private areas."

The priest experiences from that point in the concreteness of his body the blessing of his spiritual attire:

"The Soutane reminds its wearer then, that he is consecrrated i a certain way by God and that this consecrated soul and body embrace."

Father Jolie eplains that there are certain clear requirements, that prescribe clerical clothing:

"The priest must be recognizeable, just like, if in the Soutane or with a collar."
Young Clerics Like to Wear the Soutane

Then the question arises:  "What is it then, when-- irrespective of this prescription -- in a German Diocese the secretary of the Office of Priests is in civilian clothing --- in this case with a poorly tailored suit and mismatched tie  -- comes to the podium next to where his bishop sits and he doesn't distort his image?"

In this case the observer will consider that the entrance of the civil priest is also as a legislator -- and follows his example -- it is:

"The Soutane is  on the other hand  -- bound in any case according to the ecclesiastical law book  as clerical attire -- shown itself in reality to always be a >>career killer<<."

In this consideration Father Jolie sees a familiar and bizarre phenomenon:  "Whoever tries to be obedient, must be prepared to be apologetic and sternly pressured to change."

Russian Orthodox Church okays use of condoms

Posted on Tue Nov 23 2010
"The Foundations of the Social Policy of the Russian Orthodox Church distinguishes between abortive and non-abortive contraception.  Moscow, November 23, Interfax - The Russian Orthodox Church has said the use of condoms is acceptable following a similar statement made by Pope Benedict XVI of the Catholic Church last week.

Rome is Powerless in Germany

Most of the colleagues in 'Networks of Catholic Priests' are not prepared any longer to endure the patience-solutions, which have been proposed by the Roman authorities.

There are still only old Liberals coming in German, unscrupulous careerists in mitres.

(kreuz.net) "As the Priest Network was in Rome for the Priestly Year this Summer and we have been in contact with various dicasteries,  we were shaken by the powerlessness and helplessness of the Roman authorities in the face of Germany's plight."

Hendrick Jolie (46) said this in an interview in the most recent edition of the Catholic monthly magazine 'Kirchliche Umschau'.

Fr. Jolie is a Pastor in the Diocese of Mainz and member of the Spokesman Committee of the 'Network of Catholic Priests' [Netzwerks Katholischer Priester].

"It is not even so, that one doesn't know in Rome, what is going on in Germany." -- he continued.

The 'Network' has been on a visit to Rome preparing an appeal, as it brought its own dossier on conditions in the German Church: "The opposite was actually the case."

A Congregation answered that it is "still much worst" than portrayed in the dossier.

In Germany The Problems Pile Up

Especially in connection with the British Hero Bishop Richard Williamson Rome was schoked, that the Bishops themselves were not too shy to distance themselves from the Pope rather than defend him.

Fr. Jolie counted numerous problems in the German Church:

-  The Pro-Abort organization 'Donum Vitae'

-  The ecumenical scandal- 'Kirchentag' with its homosexual propaganda

-  The distribution of Holy Communion to unbelievers.

-  The 'Central Committee of German Catholics' with its unspeakable President

-  The infamous ‘Königsteiner Erklärung’

-  The so-called pastoral teams which bury the office of shepherd.

For Fr. Jolie it is "always the same little game":  "Rome writes an instruction, a reprimand or the Pope admonishes the Bishop personally, to correct certain erroneous developments, and what happens -- nothing!"

The Thread of Patience is About to Break

In Rome they feel powerless to go publicly against the powerful German Church-tax apparatus:

"Letters, reprimands and directions from Rome are met by the local authorities with so much disinterest, that it takes your breath away, is what someone in the Secretary of State Office told us."

For Father Jolie nothing else can be done, "than either to wait for the disintegration of the German Church-tax Monster or even waiting for a >>biological soluion<< in expectation on a decision maker."

Then he finally adds:  "Most colleagues in the Network are not ready to put up with the "Patience-Solution" being proposed by the Roman authorities.

Vatican Speaker Denies Accusations Against Benedict XVI

Hamburg "Spiegel" cited in its Monday edition the supposedly incriminating document in the case of a pedophile clergyman.

Vatican (kath.net/KAP) Vatican Speaker Federico Lombardi has rejected the allegation, there is a new one, that an incriminating document in the case of a pedophile clergyman from his time as Archbishop of Munich.  There are no new findings in this matter, said Lombardi this Saturday for journalists in Rome.  He admonished a report from the Archdiocese of Munich, and also made his earlier statement on the case of the Munich chaplain from the March of this year.

The German periodical, "Der Spiegel" reported in its edition appearing Monday from a letter of the year of 1980 in which a chaplain moved from the Diocese of Essen to Munich because of child abuse, and then had been shifted in an assignment  as pastor by then Archbishop Joseph Ratzinger. The chaplain had been assigned in this letter and in the parish newsletter, from which it also happens, said that he had a lot of contact in a ministerial capacity with adolescents and children, this is according to information from the earlier Munich community of the clergyman.

The Archdiocese of Munich made it clear that the current Pope had no knowledge of the Essen Chaplain's reassignment to a pastoral role in Munich.  Under Ratzinger's initiative it was agreed upon in 1980,  to restrict the chaplain to a rectory, so that he could receive therapy, disclosed the Archdiocese.  Deviating from this decision the current Vicar General Gerhard Gruber had in any case attached the man to a Munich pastoral care.  In the mean time, the retired Gruber had assumed full responsibility for this decision.

This Identity is Self-Awareness: A Study of Ecumenism and Novelty

Through all epochs the Catholic Church and only the Catholic Church shows itself to be the Church of Christ.  by Doctor Wolfgang Schüler
Personified Representation of Mother Church

(kreuz.net)The Communion-Ecclesiology of the early Church -- so far as I see -- never answered the question if the Church of Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church are one and the same.

Because this identity is self-evident to it.

That goes not only for the early Church Communion-Ecclesiology, but the whole tradition of the Church up to the Pastoral Council.

No Renewal, Rather a Novelty

Alexandra von Teuffenbach in her book which appeared in 2002 in Munich "The Meaning of 'subsistit in' (LG 8) -- in the Self-Consciousness of the Catholic Church" came to the following conclusion:

"When we let our glance glide through the epochs of Ecclesiological History, we recognize, that it's always the Catholic Church and only the Catholic Church  that shows itself to have been the Church of Christ."

Therefore one can say: With the doctrine that the Church of Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church not being one in the same, the Pastoral council constitutes a break with the complete teaching tradition of the Church.

The understanding of the Pastoral Council of the Catholic Church is not reconcilable with the self-conception of the Church.

For that reason the Communion-Ecclesiology of the Pastoral Council is not a renewal of the early Church Communio-Ecclesiology, but it is nothing to this but complete novelty.

The End of Ecumenism

The overdue correction of 'subsistit-in' teaching could have far reaching consequences.

This teaching  had opened the door to the Ecumenism of the Pastoral Council.

Really this door will be closed again, if Rome returns to the traditional teaching of the Church, which means, that the Catholic Church is the Church of Jesus Christ.

The entire Ecumenical Decree would then be decrepit.

Benedict XVI. has hinted at this understanding, as he held his lecture over "the ecclesiology of the Constitution of Lumen Gentium", which was held on 27.2. 2000, saying:

"In the difference between 'subsisit' and 'est' conceals the entire ecumenical problem".

Duplicitous Homosexual Promotes His Book at Spiegel

Editor: David Berger admits to duplicity all along.  He merely became acquainted with a specialty and advanced his career of portraying himself as something he wasn't.  His dishonesty may pay off as he tours to promote his new book.

In this essay, he claims that he could no longer handle the "homophobia".  In reality, he was fired from his position and would presumably have continued his double life of fancy meals and expensive wines in ancient castles.

Now that he no longer has his magazine, "Theologisches", he's going to write a book. Here's the fawning interview he did for church-hate magazine 'Spiegel.'
SPIEGEL: ... after you and your career had profited for a long time from contact with these right-wing circles.
Berger: Ever since Pope Benedict XVI, at the latest, you have to be anti-modern to have a career in the Catholic Church. I criticized the relatively progressive theology and left-wing church policy of Karl Rahner. That is how people noticed me. Because I was an expert on the medieval thinker Thomas Aquinas, I was invited by almost all right-wing conservative groups to give lectures. I was in touch with the Sedevacantists, the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter, the Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family and Property, Una Voce, Opus Dei and the Servants of Jesus and Mary.

How Diverting: A Witch's Night in Mainz Cathedral

The way through the Cathedral was accompanied by spooky owl cries, rattling, and the blasts of fanfare.

(kreuz.net) Already last May the Catholic Educational Institute with the Society of the Friends of the Organ hosted a witches night in Mainz Cathedral.

This was according to 'Nachtrichten Blatt' for the association of Lower- Olm - ten kilometers south of Mainz -- on the 6th of May.

At the beginning the Mainz Cathedral organist Albert Schönberger greeted the almost one hundred guests to the unlighted church.

These went first -- with candles leading the way  -- to the crypt, where the "distant organ tones" were audible.

In the crypt, the group viewed the former house organ of the famous Mainz Church musician Heinrich Rohr († 1997).

The next station was the memorial chapel -- the former chapter house of the Cathedral Chapter.

There the house organ of the Mainz church musician Heinrich Rohr had found a new home.

On the way through the Cathedral, the participants were accompanied by spooky owl cries, rattling, and blasts of fanfare.

Even as the further path through the candlelit Cathedral there were sounds reminiscent of the strange sounds and noises by "the mischievous deeds of witches"  -- as the 'News Article" put it.

French Priest Refuses to Yield to Vandals

[Gallia Watch] The latest information about the Saint-Jean-Baptiste church in Avignon that was the target of arson, urine, excrement and threats of more arson comes from an article at Famille Chrétienne that is linked at François Desouche. Since the article is long, I am adapting the first part that deals with the reactions of the parish priest, Father Gabriel Picard (photo). The second part deals with the astonishing remarks of the Archbishop of Avignon, Jean-Pierre Cattenoz:

Father Gabriel Picard refuses to yield to anger or pacifism. In November 2009, after the umpteenth attack on his church, he vowed to put an end to the attacks targeting his parishioners.

New Missal Leaked on Wikileaks Includes the Words "For Many"

The Wikileaks leaked Missal is right here, goody gumdrops.  One can peruse it here.  Hopefully it's not as big a muckup as the German Missal.  Perhaps the American Bishops are more obedient than the Germans?

In any event, the new translation looks pretty good, at least if we can trust what's been leaked here on page 33 .  The "for many" is present in the words of consecration, the word "chalice" is used instead of "cup" and the word "venerable" has been included to refer to Our Lord's hands.  This is a beautiful translation.  Of course, some people are using this leak to complain about the translation. They are evil and they know who they are.

TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND EAT OF IT, FOR THIS IS MY BODY, WHICH WILL BE GIVEN UP FOR YOU.

He shows the consecrated host to the people and places it again on the paten, and genuflects in adoration
[...]
He takes the chalice and, holding it slightly raised above the altar, continues:

he took this precious chalice
in his holy and venerable hands,
and once more giving you thanks, he said the blessing
and gave the chalice to his disciples, saying:

He bows slightly

TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND DRINK FROM IT,
FOR THIS IS THE CHALICE OF MY BLOOD,
THE BLOOD OF THE NEW AND ETERNAL COVENANT,
WHICH WILL BE POURED OUT FOR YOU AND FOR MANY
FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS
DO THIS IN MEMORY OF ME.

All of this is very encouraging and beautiful.
