Is Euthanasia the Only Answer to Bad Conditions in Prisons? -- Ten Belgian Prisoners Want to be Killed

(Brussels) Belgium:  the Catholic Austrian Netherlands for euthanasia Eldorado? Ten Belgian prisoners have applied for euthanasia. One will get it.  One Belgian senator and a journalist ask: "Did we not abolish the death penalty abolished in 1996?"
The judges have it Frank, granted to a prisoner, to "liberate" by euthanasia in liability fate.  Frank, however, does not meet the conditions set by the Belgian euthanasia law requirements. He is neither in the "final stages of an incurable disease" yet he suffers "unbearable pain". Yet since the euthanasia law has entered into force  in Belgium  it is allowed  to legally carry someone into the afterlife, creating a ever increasing gray area. Doctors, judges, authorities have interpreted the law in an increasingly "generous"  from.
What was granted in 2002 with the claim that  only  allow it only very narrowly defined and well-defined circumstances, the legalized killing, has developed a long uncontrolled momentum.

 Belgian Death

A total of ten Belgian prisoners have sought euthanasia in the "detention facility" . This was reported by the Belgian television program Panorama this October 20th. They broadcast a report on euthanasia in Belgium prisons.

Authorized Death

So far, only a single Belgian prisoner has been granted euthanasia, according to the doctor Francis Van Mol, who is the Director General of the Health Service in Belgian prisons. The prisoner called Frank VDB  had applied for euthanasia in 2012.  And it was granted to him. The lethal injection has not yet been given. The journalist Dirk Leestmans interviewed Frank for Panorama . Frank said, he does not want to be released from prison, because he considers himself "dangerous". In prison, however, he has suffered under the deprivation of liberty. He considers it "unbearable suffering" to be locked in a cell.

"Escape" from Prison

The same reasoning was described by nine other prisoners, who were also seeking  "freedom" by being killed. This cause was made known  by  the Belgian Senator Louis Ide. He brought it to the public, that in Belgium prisons prisoners will be killed rather to stay locked up as in the cell. The situation in the prisons was "intolerable" said the Senator, not the lives of these prisoners. Overcrowding, inadequate facilities, no way to work and no prospect of a future that may be the reasons, the prisoners  prefer to leave in death, instead of the "Hell" a bank of the oars  in the prison system, said  the senator ."Who would ever endure, to be confined for 23 hours a day to just two square meters, which is what is available to a prisoner in Belgian prisons," said Senator Ide. The application is made obviously  from despair.

Legitimate Questions

Even the journalist Leestmans is at the end of his report, questions whether euthanasia requests of prisoners are not caused by intolerable living conditions in Belgian prisons: "Is Frank asking about being killed because he is sick, or because the conditions of life in prison as are bad? Is there no other way to relieve Frank's suffering than to kill him? Was not the death penalty abolished in Belgium in 1996? "

Not Terminally Ill

Also of the other nine prisoners who have applied for euthanasia, no one is in the final stages of a disease. To be precise, no one is really sick. Death is the only perspective of a prisoner in a civilized country? Or should euthanasia free detention places that are needed urgently for the many new additions? Euthanasia as part of the austerity measures of the state?
"Recently, the law will also apply to people who are not sick at all, but claim unbearable suffering ',"  said Leestmans in his report.
In the meantime  numerous studies and media reports state that the Belgian euthanasia law is abused in a startling way.  And  this happens everywhere. Obviously, the abuse has reached the prison, should Frank really  be killed.

Catholic King Albert II to Abdicate in Belgium

König Albert II.
von Belgien will offenbar abdanken.

(Foto: AFP)
After two decades of intention to relinquish the official duties of Belgium, of King Albert II. the media consistently reports that the 79-year-old monarch will announce his abdication by 6 O'clock. The royal family is considered an important factor in the risk of splitting the country.

Belgium's King Albert II will abdicate. Newspapers and the news agency Belga consistently reports that Albert's abdication will be announced for 6 this evening, in a television address. The effective date is said to be the 21th July, the Belgian National Holiday.

By 3pm, the first breaking news was released by news agencies. The 79-year-old Albert had unexpectedly received key ministers of the country (kernkabinet) at the royal palace, say Le Soir and De Standaard in their online editions. At 5:30 the entire cabinet concluded, and by 6 O'clock, the King would abdicate on the four major TV channels and their radio stations to the public. After this, Prime Minister Elio Di Rupo, should address the public. Philippe Albert's eldest son is heir apparent.

Albert's abdication is really not surprising. In recent months there had been repeated speculation about it. Albert II succeeded his older brother Baudouin in 1993 after his death, to the throne.

Compared with the glamorous royal families from Scandinavia and Britain, the public interest in Belgian monarchy is limited. This was true at least until a few weeks ago. Recently, however, a furor has been caused by the paternity suit of the 45-year-old artist Delphine Boël. She wishes to force the monarch by court proceedings to a DNA test. A first date being set for last week was postponed until the autumn.

The royal family is considered an important staple in the unstable country, at risk of dividing.

Belgian Socialists: Euthanasia for Minors Also

Brussels (kath.net/KNA)  Belgian Socialists want to expand active assistance in dying for minors.  Media reports (tuesday) will apply to youth and children, who "have the maturity and the soundness of judgment, to understand all of the consequences",  can be entitled to undergo euthanasia.  Additionally, there may be a statement of understanding by the parents,  as it says in a drafted bill of the Socialist Party of President Elio Di Rupo.

The Flemish Christian Democrats stress that this is not a proposal of the government.  There are six parties participating in the government.  The proposal originated from Senator Philippe Mahoux, who is according to Belgian media, the "father" of the current assisted death law.

Active assistance in death has been permitted in certain circumstances in Belgium for ten years.  According to valid law a terminally sick patient in full possession of his mental faculties must express the desire to die "voluntarily, considered and repeatedly".  There must also be no hope for improvement.  The illness must make the continued existence for the patient "physically or psychologically unbearable".

There are More Muslims in Brussels Than Catholics

Via De Morgen, VRT (Dutch):
25% of the residents of Brussels are of Muslim origin, which makes Brussels one of the European cities with the largest Muslim presence, comparable to Birmingham in the UK. This according to a sociological study ('L'Iris et le Croissant' - the Iris and the Crescent) by UCL. The study was conducted by Sociologist Felice Dassetto, who has been researching Muslims, radicalization and intercultural ism for more than 30 years.

In total there are 250,000 to 300,000 Muslims in Brussels, about half the Muslim population of Belgium. 10-15% of the Muslims are practicing and active within religious associations.

Islam is also increasingly visible: there are more moques and minarets, more veiled owmen and more Muslim organizations.

After football, Islam mobilizes the most people in Brussels, more than the Catholic Church, political parties and unions. There are more than 200,000 Muslim organizations in Brussels, including 77 mosques. Dassetto speaks of a 'religious over-socializing' among young Muslims.

Primate of Belgium Criticizes the Parliament

MPs were taking the right to decide by majority what the difference between men and women are.  A proper political order can but only recognize natural law principles, which must precede the legislation.

(kath.net/KNA)The Belgian Bishops Conference President, Archbishop Andre-Joseph Leonard, has criticized the national parliament. The delegates assumed the right, per majority vote to decide about the meaning of sexuality, the meaninging of the word "marriage" or the difference between man and woman, said the newspaper "La Libre" this Friday on a new book by the Archbishop of Mechelen-Brussels. Leonard called upon Christians to get involved in the political debate. A proper political order recognizes that there are principles of natural law which should precede any legislation. Case Against Archbishop Leonard of Belgium Dismissed

Edit: After being asked by the Old Liberals in the Diocese to reisgn, the Archbishop was then sued by a homosexual activist who claimed that he found the Archbishop's statements damaging to him. The court showed some sanity and disagreed.

With its references to AIDS, the archbishop of Brussels caused outrage for storms, the action of a lawyer was rejected.

Brussels (kath.net / CBA / red) A court in the Belgian city of Antwerp has dismissed a lawsuit against Archbishop André-Joseph Leonard of Mechelen-Brussels. The appellant did not prove to have been personally harmed by statements of the Belgian Bishops' Conference Chairman or insulted, Belgian media on site reported on Wednesday.

An attorney filed last year against Leonard because of his public statements about AIDS and homosexuality. The lawyer announced that he would appeal the decision to close the case.

Leonard had described AIDS as a consequence of misconduct, a form of 'immanent justice'. The comment had triggered a storm of indignation. Teachers of the Catholic University of Leuven, church newspaper chief editors and representatives of Catholic laity called for his resignation. In protest against Léonard, remarks came the then Speaker of the Belgian Bishops' Conference, Jürgen Mette Penningen. He likened the Archbishop with a ghost rider, holding on despite the warnings about his course from  his navigation system.
Advertising

In 2005, Leonard was interviewed by a French journal, "Monseigneur Leonard. Interviews with Louis Mathoux" where they talked about the disease AIDS. In the third  question his interviewer asked whether he thought there was a connection between AIDS and punishment from God.  Leonard had answered: it's just as much from pollution that might cause damage or, something such as alcohol abuse could  cause damage to  ones self, so too dangerous sexual practices (eg, multiple sexual partners and anal sex) lead to diseases such as AIDS. ONLY in this sense does he want to talk about "inherent justice".

Perhaps Bishops Will Get Locked Up?

Editor: one such committee was tried at an Abbey in the United States, and it failed abysmally. The man who founded the thing resigned from it because the Abbey and the people it was designed to over watch stonewalled it, no pun intended. It is impossible in the absence of the mere understating of what Justice is to assume that these people can be trusted to do anything but participate in the auto-destruction of the Catholic Church. Many parts of the Church are so infested by what Archbishop Lefebvre has called, "Spiritual Aids", that we have no right to expect them to recover without Divine assistance, and perhaps even anger.  Here's the call from Belgian lawmakers to "reform" something they couldn't fix even if they knew what the problem was.  It seems mighty odd that men who have been running Europe into the ground since World War II shoud expect to do much for the Catholic Church, but there it is.

The Seal of the Confessional Can be More Flexible.

One consequence of the abuse-hoax promoted by the Bishops lies in that which the-- anyways hardly used -- secret of the confessional is made "more flexible".

(kreuz.net) In Belgium a Parliamentary Special committee for sexual abuse will provide a final court of decision in and outside of the Church. This was reported by the Belgian website 'deredactie.be' this 31st of March.

The report has 400 pages and contains conclusions and about seventy recommendations.

The Belgian Bishops have already explained that they will bend to the recommendations.

The report proposes that the Church should erect an Arbitration Panel, which will adjudicate possible damages by abuse victims.

Additionally Bishops should -- even if they haven't committed abuse themselves -- be held responsible for the deeds of their subordinate priests.

Additionally, the secret of the Confessional according to the report of 'deredactie.be' will be made "more flexible", so that certain cases can be brought to justice.

The obligation to report incidents, which are made known in the confessional, are not, in any case, demanded by the report.

Therefore a committee is to be supplied so that all recommendations are moved into practice.

A Brussels Archbishop Celebrates the First Gregorian Mass in Forty Years

The Previous Episcopal Conference speaker says this is a 'false signal'

Brussels (kath.net/KAP) The Brussels Archbishop Andre-Joseph Leonard just celebrated a Mass in the Traditional Rite.  The celebration took place in Brussels with about 500 faithful on Sunday for the occasion of the arrival of the "traditionalist" Society of St. Peter in Benelux-Staaten, as reported by the newspaper "De Standaard".

The Society of St. Peter is recognized by Rome.  Their foundation was an offer to those who were then members of the Society of St. Pius X in opposition to the Second Vatican Council.

The "Standard" reported that it is the first time in four decades that a Belgian Archbishop has celebrated the Old Mass.  The Church Historian and earlier Episcopal Conference Speaker Jürgen Mettepenningen, said that the Liturgy in the Old Rite is a "false signal".  It is a sign for a Church that had been understood as a matter between priest and God.

Head of Belgian Church Shocks the Worldings: Comparing Victims of Pederasty to Flood Victims

Editor: We've been very defensive of Archbishop Andre-Joseph Leonard as he's one of the best things that has happened to Belgian society in  years. Expectantly, the crocodile tears shed by the same media that defended Roman Polanski will now raise an angry fist at the Archbishop.  It does this because it despises the Catholic things he defends.  Frankly, it's the same furor of anger that has met the Holy Father who has been pointing an accusing finger at the permissive elements in society that have promoted child sexual abuse, like Kinsey, substantial portions of Belgium's elite society, and all of those academics who've striven for the last decades to erase the idea of good and evil from the minds of people everywhere.

Archbishop Attacked at Mass by homosexual.

The following is an article from Catholic Church Conservation:

Le chef de l'Eglise belge choque en comparant pédophilie et inondations

The head of the Belgian Catholic Church, Andre-Joseph Leonard shocked MPs on Wednesday saying that the Belgian Church could compensate victims of pedophile priests, just as it has shown "solidarity with flood victims ".

"The Catholic Church could freely participate with all other sectors of society in the creation of solidarity funds, not because it is legally obliged, but because there is a duty of solidarity with all victims, not only of floods and epidemics, but also sexual abuse, "said the Primate of Belgium.

He spoke in particular cases where the abuser is dead or the actions under statute of limitations, for other cases being for him the responsibility of Justice.

Pope to Intervene in Belgium Against Homo-Bishop Vangheluwe?

Editor: That's all you need to know. It's pretty simple: Liberalism = Child Abusing Clergy

Does the Pope Want a Trial?

Homosexual Liberal on Patrol
Belgium [kreu.net] The resigning old Liberal Homo-Bishop of Bruges, Mons. Roger Vangheluwe (74), should be subject to a canonical trial.  This was according to the French bi-monthly 'Golias' on their website. The Bishop has candidly admited that he had homosexually abused his nephew for a year long.  According to the information from "our sources" the publication explained that Pope Benedict XVI. is going to be personally in favor of  an intervention in this trial.

A Correction: Old Mass Behind Closed Doors

In relation to a story we'd translated yesterday from kreuz.net where Father Jean-Pierre was not permitted to say the Immemorial Mass of All Ages publicly in Milan, Father was good enough to correct us about the situation, and we're reprinting it here too:

Two corrections : I am not THE secretary of Archbishop Leonard, but only one of the collaborators to his secretariate. Secondly, it was not in Milan's Cathedral, but in Seregno, 60 km from Milan, after a lecture on Blessed Cardinal Newman.

Remove Five Christian Holidays in Belgium?

A "Work Group for Interculturality" from the Belgian Government wants to remove Easter Monday, Pentecost Monday, the Ascension, Assumption and All Saints from the list of National Holidays -- Christimas will remain the only free Christian feast day.

Brussels [kath.net/KAP]  A drastic reduction of the holidays in Belgium has been proposed by a "Work Group for Interculturality" of the Belgian government.  The current ten feast days will be reduced to five is the "'Work Group's" proposal, said the Belgian media on Tuesday.

Accordingly, heneforth there will only be New Year, the 1st of May, the National Holiday on  the 21st of July, the Armistice of  11th of November,  and Christmas, the 25th of December will be days off.

Eastermonday, Pentecostmonday [Whitmonday was also a holiday in Ireland till recently], Christ's Ascension, Assumption and All Saints Day will be removed from the calendar. The "Work Group" proposes, depending on confession, that an employee can take two additional workdays free.

New additions will be International Women's Day on 8. March, the 21st of March as the International Day Against Racism and the 21st  of May as the World Day of Cultural Diversity.

Among other proposals of  the "Work Group"  was also to permit  the wearing of religious symbols such as the Islamic head covering in school for higher forms [grades].  The teacher's preference, however, should determine whether it is allowed at all.

The Belgian Minister for equal opportunity, Joelle Milquet of the Liberal-Christians Democrats of Wallonia, annaounced, that she wants to reinforce the battle against discrimination.  Cultural Diversity is anchored in the heritage of Belgium, she said according to reports from "Le Soir".

Archbishop Archbishop Andre-Mutien Leonard Assaulted at Prayer Service

The Archbishop of Brussels was physically assaulted on Monday in Brussels Cathedral -- A Video shows the incident -- Archbishop Leonard has waived any legal steps.

Belgium [kath.net] Scandal in the Belgian Church concerning media reports about André-Joseph Léonard. According to Belgian media, a young man committed assault in the Brussels Cathedral. A Youtube-Video shows how the President of the Belgian Bishops Conference was celebrating Mass while a young attacker attired in black with a Torte and assaulted him. As Kreuz.net reported, the Bishop said with remarkable aplomb, "that torte tastes really good."

According to "Het Nieuwsblad" the madame speaker of the Archbishop reported the attack in the Cathedral. The Archbishop would like to waive his right to making a complaint.

Earlier this week, his liberal and pro-homosexualist spokesman quit in a huff.

Here's an explanation from Archbishop Andre-Mutien Leonard in the Guardian, and he's not showing any signs of giving up.

Archbishop Mutien of Belgium Threatened by Rabid Homosexuals and the Media

After Archbishop Mutien made some non-controversial statements reflecting Catholic teaching about natural law and the result of sin, a local Attorney, Jean-Marie De Meester, in Belgium accused the Archbishop of "slander" and said he might be under charges for "homophobia". Homosexual radicals have already filed charges against him and it came to nothing earlier this year; talk about bullying. Additionally, the Archbishop's spokesman Juergen Mettepenningen, had a hissy fit and stormed out. This piece of work is already on record for supporting same-sex marriage, so it's not big deal that he's left. Indeed, it's a good thing.

Apparently, Catholic teaching doesn't sell well with the brokers of information in the leftist media, but this man was appointed to the job in July first as the Archbishop's spokesmen. He was an instructor of Systematic Theology at the disgraced University of Louvain, which hasn't been Catholic for years, but has now finally admitted this fact.

The rather mild and neo-conservative Prelate is described as ultra-conservative, haughty and abrasive. It is to be supposed that when your world is defined by Sodomy, you're bound to have poor judgment and leave yourself prone to rash resignations and statements like the following from the Archbishop's "spokesman":

“Archbishop Léonard does not take his leadership duties seriously [i.e, he doesn't agree with you that homosexuals should be able to marry] ,” Mettepenningen added. “But it is above all his surrealist attitude regarding the turmoil stirred up by his remarks that I take too seriously to still support this.”

Belgian Police Investigating Death Threats Against Victims

Cardinal Daneels belongs in prison at the very least for malfeasance. Perhaps this will smoke out the lavender mafia in Belgium?

[BBC] Police investigating claims of child abuse by Belgian clergy have told the BBC they are probing death threats against witnesses and magistrates.

Last month police raided a meeting of Belgium's Catholic bishops as part of their investigation, seizing computers and documents.

They even searched the tomb of at least one cardinal, prompting an angry response from the Vatican.

The Church Will be Pilloried: Belgium

Editor's Comment: Considering the growing strangeness of the atmosphere, the rebelliousness of the Austrian Clergy, there are some other dark clouds. Many are crying for blood and are willing to strike down laws to get at the institution they are increasingly mischaracterizing as evil.

Freemasons -- against the Church?

The battle surrounding the police raids against the Church in Belgium is more heated -- Christian Democrats: The searches could be a masonic plot. The current investigating judge Wim De Troy is close with the leading freethinkers.

Brussels [Kath.net/KNA] In Belgium the director of the independent commission for the investigation of the abuse accusations by church employees, Peter Adriaenssens, was interviewed for five hours long by the judiciary. The child psychiatrist is a witness for the work of the commission and the dossiers under examination, reported the Belgian media on Tuesday. Further discussions will follow this week. The commission had decided to offer their resignations against the progress of the authorities. In the confiscation of the dossiers of abuse victims the members saw a breach of trust.

In the mean time, the battle over the reasonableness of the progress of judiciary on its major raid against Church property was very sharp on Tuesday. Abuse victims held the searches and seizures irresponsible. Liberal and Socialist politicians secured themselves against critics from the Vatican.

In broadcaster "Radio 1" the sociologist Jan Hertogen (63) who was abused as a young man maintains that the authorities have compromised data privacy and laws regarding personal privacy. He has brought his case to the knowledge of the commission, but did not want in any way the engagement of the judiciary. He made his complaints against the Adriaenssens-Commission, because they had not exactly protected his documents. He hopes to persuade the commission, in their own part, to proceed against the judiciary authorities.

The Flemmish Minister Jo Vanderuzen warned of a loss of trust by the victims. They had the choice, to turn to the judiciary or not. This decision must be condemned. Church authorities are exploring at the moment legal steps against the police action.

The liberal politician Denis Ducarme and the scholastically aligned Bruno Tuybens called the Foreign Minister Steven Vanackere, to demand [verlangen] respect from the Vatican for the political and legal institutions of the land. They reacted with that to the sharp criticism from the Vatican to the actions of the authorities. Vanackere dismissed the notion that he had invited the Nuncio, Archbishop Giacinto Berloco, personally to an "oopen and constructive conversation".

The attorney of Cardinal Godfried Danneels, Fernand Keuleneer, expressed doubt on the legality of the raid. It is not admissible to indiscriminately confiscate dossiers and then initially to ascertain after if they contain any incriminating documents, he said to "The Antwerp Gazette". The house searches have awakened the impression, that the Church will be pilloried.

Editor's Note: If this had been in the United States happening to just about any other organization, there would be an outcrry about the absolute absence of due process. Could this be a way for Cardinal Daneels to walk away without taking responsibillity for destroying the Church of Belgium through years of neglect and cooperation with evil? Of course, it isn't an accident that Belgium is about
to divide itself in parts.
