President Bolsonaro Consecrates Brazil to Sacred Heart

At this very moment, in Brasilia, the consecration of the largest Latin American country to the Immaculate Heart of Mary is taking place.

(Brasilia) Brazil is having a great day today. [Yesterday] But that is not the case everywhere. If not in the Apostolic Palace, at least in Santa Marta, the Vatican has other concerns: universal brotherhood, climate change, a right to unlimited migration, and more recently, rejection of the sovereignty movement. This does not only apply to the US and, because of the upcoming elections, above all the EU, but also Brazil. There today President Bolsonaro consecrates his country to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. But the Episcopal Conference and Santa Marta signaled lack of interest and the official Catholic media keep the consecration under wraps.

Pope Francis would have liked to continue to see the Labor Party (PT) in power in Brazil, but it failed because of its own corruption. Jair Bolsonaro was elected as the new Head of State and Government last autumn. His coalition consists of several decidedly Christian parties, some of them are evangelicals. He is a Catholic, but married to a free-church member. In Brazil, it may therefore happen that the Head of State and Government quoted a Bible verse on Twitter. This morning President Bolsonaro welcomed the Brazilians with the tweet:

"And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." John 8:32. This message is always ahead of our mission. Good morning everyone!
Marian Consecration of Brazil, May 21, 2019

This Twitter message is related to the particularity of today. Today, at 7 pm Central European Time, the consecration of Brazil to the Immaculate Heart of Mary took place in the federal capital Brasilia. It took place not only in the presence of President Bolsonaro, but directly in the Presidential Palace. President Bolsonaro gave the act of consecration the mark of highest state authority by his signature.

The consecration is, regrettably, not an act of the Brazilian Bishops' Conference, but goes back to the initiative of the Catholic laity. The consecration was performed by Don Fernando Areas Rifan, the Apostolic Administrator of the Apostolic Personal Administration of St. John Maria Vianney. The Apostolic Personnel Administration, which is the world's only de facto diocese in the traditional rite.

The driving force of the consecration are the Marian Congregation and other Catholic organizations, as well as the Frente Parlamentario Catolico, in which Catholic federal MPs have joined forces.

Initiative by two members of parliament

The idea itself comes from the two deputies Chris Tonietto and Eros Biondini. They emphasized that the consecration was also and precisely a state act, with which the whole country was consecrated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

The veterinarian Biondini, who also studied political science at the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais, became famous in Brazil for the country's largest Catholic music event, which he launched and organized. The now 48-year-old moderated a few years a music program of the Catholic TV channel TV Canção Nova. In 2006 he was elected deputy of his native country Minas Gerais. Since 2010 he has been a member of the Brazilian Federal Parliament. The main focuses of his parliamentary work include the political renewal of Brazil, the resistance against attempts to make the hypothesis of allegedly human-induced climate change, or the idea of ​​"controlling the climate,” the basis of politics, instead he wants to focus on the strengthening of the family and the protection of unborn children. In 2017, he voted in favor of the law criminalizing the killing of unborn children.

Christine "Chris" Nogueira do Reis Tonietto is a lawyer and member of the Catholic Cultural Center Don Bosco. She became known in 2017 for her initiative against insulting the Catholic Church and the Catholic faith in the Brazilian YouTube comedy Port dos Fundos. In the parliamentary elections in October 2018, she was elected a member of the Federal Parliament. Her broadcasts and Twitter messages ended her mostly with "Viva Cristo Rei!" (High live Christ king).

Tonietto wrote on Twitter today:

"We will be there with the entire group of Catholic MPs to which I belong. We express our deepest support and pray to God to bless our beloved Brazil, the land of the Holy Cross!”

When the governor of Alabama signed the Abortion Abolition Act, Tonietto wrote on Twitter on May 16:

"A big day for the right to life."

On May 17, she was able to further spread the message of  the next strengthening of the right to life of unborn children:

"With a 66-vote lead, the Missouri State legislature voted for several abortion laws that severely curtail this shameful practice in this state."

Tonietto supports the initiative of President Bolsonaro, who recommends the "anti-communist catechism" of the Steyler Missionary and Archbishop of Diamantina, Geraldo de Proença Sigaud, who died in 1999, to those who say they are Catholic but defend communism. During the Second Vatican Council, Archbishop Sigaud belonged to Coetus Internationalis Patrum and was considered in Brazil as the fiercest opponent of Helder Camara, the archbishop of Olinda and Recife.

The Brazilian Bishops' Conference, which has long been inspired by the liberation theology, behaves coldly towards the new head of state, especially since Pope Francis clearly expressed his sympathies (and antipathies). They are silent on the  Consecration to Mary. Nothing can be heard from Rome of the cordiality with which Francis thought of the two former Presidents Luis Inacio Lula da Silva and Dilma Rousseff of the Labor Party. Lula da Silva, sentenced to twelve years in prison for corruption, even received a statement of solidarity in prison from the pope.

Instead of looking forward to having Catholic interlocutors among the deputies, the Episcopal Conference and Santa Marta refer to allied journalists of the Pinprick Initiative. The discussion was, openly or suggestively, about “political abuse" of religion.

Because the President of the Republic dedicates his land to the Immaculate Heart of Mary? Because Catholic MPs had the idea for this consecration and put it into action?

The politicization of the Church leads to worrying dead ends, is how episcopal reactions to the consecration of Brazil to Mary go.

Nevertheless, the consecration is a great day for Brazil.

Brazilian Intelligence Service Warns Amazon Synod Will Be Abused by “Leftist Clergy”

(Rom / Brasilia) The Amazon Synod, convened by Pope Francis this coming October, wants to use the "progressive clergy" to attack the new Brazilian government. A report by the Brazilian secret service warns.

Yesterday's edition of the Brazilian daily O Estado de Sao Paulo opened with a big headline on the front page.

"The upper echelon is to fight the action for the 'left clergy'".

According to information from the Brazilian intelligence agency Agência Brasileira de Inteligência (ABIN), the "progressive clergy" wanted to use the Amazon synod to attack the new Brazilian government of President Jair Bolsonaro.

Bolsanaro’s Vice President  is Antônio Hamilton Mourão. Mourão was general of the Brazilian army. He is from the state of Amazonas and is of indigenous descent. The Amazon as a space and the indigenous peoples are, according to official Church information, the central themes of the synod.

It is not part of the Synodmakers' Amazon image that the state of Amazonas was won by Bolsonaro and his coalition last fall. Since January 1, Wilson Lima of the Christian Social Party (PSC) is Governor of Amazonas. The Partido Social Cristão was also Bolsonaro’s party, until he founded in 2018 for the presidential elections his own party ticket. The Deputy Governor of Amazon represents with Carlos Almeida, the party of Vice President Mourão.

The state of Amazon spreads over a gigantic expanse of more than 1.5 million square kilometers, but is inhabited by only four million people. According to the Brazilian statistics office, only 0.1 percent of them refer to themselves as members of indigenous peoples. The Brazilian statistics office lists five "races". A quarter of the population are whites, three quarters are pardos ("browns"), which in Brazil means the different mixes of the other four races (whites, blacks, Asians and Indians).

The figures have prompted observers to assume that there is a "deeper agenda" behind the synod topics that are publicly mentioned.

The Brazilian intelligence service ABIN bases its report on its own findings and information from various military commands. The secret service report, says the daily O Estado de Sao Paulo, also discusses Pope Francis' recent meeting with Brazilian cardinals at the Vatican, which discussed the themes of the upcoming synod.

Organizer of the Amazon Synod is founded in 2014 Church network REPAM, which consists of an umbrella organization and national offshoots in the Amazon riparian states. Of real weight is only REPAM Brazil. The umbrella organization and the Brazilian offshoot are led by two Church representatives belonging to the progressive fringe of the Church. The umbrella organization is headed by Claudio Cardinal Hummes and REPAM Brazil, and emeritus missionary bishop Erwin Kräutler from Austria. Hummes and Kräutler are in favor of the abolition of priestly celibacy  nd the admission of married priests. Both have spoken repeatedly in the past for the introduction of women's priesthood. Both are close to the political left. Hummes is a personal friend of ex-President Lula, who has been imprisoned for corruption since April 2018. Kräutler is a darling of the left-wing media, as every home visit to Austria has confirmed.

The political left in Brazil, Latin America and beyond refuses to recognize Lula's condemnation. It claims that it was a political process to repress the influence of the left. Pope Francis expressed his sympathy and closeness to Lula. Even more unforgivable was Bolsonaro's election victory. The Brazilian left suffered a defeat in the fall of 2018, comparable to that of the Democratic Party in the US against Donald Trump.

Above all, Pope Francis again bet on "the wrong horse". His warning of a political electoral defeat in Brazil led to the new leadership recognizing the Catholic Church, significant parts of the Brazilian hierarchy, and the church leadership in Rome as declared government opponents.

Bolsonaro is a Catholic, his wife is a free-church member. In the election campaign, the new president has relied mainly on the Protestant free churches. Behind it is a massive emigration movement from the Catholic Church to the Free Churches. The reason is the massive political and theological left pressure in the nation’s Catholic Church which has been developing for decades and has led to an alienation of the faithful from their Church.

The Amazon Synod is pushing, as the intelligence report shows,  the intention of the world Church to install a new "other", "second" priesthood, the secular political dimension to score also by social and environmental statements in the left-liberal mainstream, but also an intra-Brazilian dimension of political explosiveness.

The impression is confirmed, with friends and opponents, that Pope Francis acts more as a politician than as a Church leader.

Is an Apostolic Commissar Ready to Destroy the Next "Too Pious" Order?

Seminarians Pray in the Church of the Brazilian Mother House of the "Heralds of the Gospel": Are they the next target of the Congregation of Religious? Too many vocations, too rapid growth, too pious, too friendly to tradition, too Marian?

(Rome) Has Pope Francis already assigned an apostolic commissioner for the next, "too pious" order?

The fate of the Franciscans of the Immaculate could soon befall the Heralds of the Gospel (Evangelii Praecones, EP). This lay community was founded as a youth movement by the Third Order Carmelite João Scognamiglio Clá Dias in Brazil. The inspiration for the name came from the encyclical Evangelii Praecones, which Pope Pius XII. published in1951 about mission.

The Heralds of the Gospel

João Scognamiglio Clá Dias, born in 1939, son of a Spaniard and an Italian, was a member of the Marian Congregation in Sao Paulo and in 1956 a member of the Third Order of Carmelites. He studied law and did his military service in the Airborne Ranger. Subsequently, he turned to the study of philosophy, theology and the right of the Church. At the university, he became a leader of the Catholic student body, which opposed the 1968 student protests.

The real development of the Heralds of the Gospel began at the same time in the 1960s, when João Scognamiglio Clá Días, Pedro Paulo de Figueiredo and Carlos Alberto Soares Corrêa gathered a group of young Catholics in Sao Paulo to pray in silence, deepen their spiritual life, and to discuss current questions in the Church and in the world. The goal was missioning and evangelization.

In the seventies the desire for a common life arose. The founder and two companions retired to a former Benedictine abbey to deepen their spiritual life in silence and prayer. Of the first companions, no one left, but new ones were added. They first arranged a Marian consecration, began to pray liturgy of the hours together and finally gave themselves a first rule. This resulted in the development of a community life for men and, in 1996, of women. The foundation stone was laid for a flowering male branch, the Societas Clericalis Vitae Apostolicae Iuris Pontificii Virgo Flos Carmeli, and a female feminine branch, Societas Vitae Apostolicae Iuris Pontificii Regina Virginum.

The Heralds of the Gospel were recognized in 2001 by Pope John Paul II as an International Private Association of Believers. They are thus the first ecclesial community to receive this recognition in the third millennium. The two societies of Apostolic Life were consecrated in 2009 by Pope Benedict XVI. canonically established with papal law.

The laity movement also led to the vocation of the priesthood. In 2005, the first priests were consecrated, including the founder of the Heralds himself at the age of 64 .

The Community is now active in about 80 countries, and only 12 years after the first consecration, has already 120 priests and about 20 deacons. The two societies of consecrated life have, after 20 years, more than 4,000 members, two thirds of whom are men, one third of women. Heralds of the Gospel are around 40,000 worldwide. Anyone who reads the figures of the past ten years sees the massive growth of the movement, which was begun under the pontificate of Benedict XVI. João Scognamiglio Clá Días is Superior General of the Heralds and the Society of Consecrated Life. Since 2008 he has also been an honorary fellow at the patriarchal basilica Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome.

According to "an intimate, internal source",  says Tosatti, a "task force" from the Congregation of Religious, headed by the Brazilian Cardinal João Braz de Aviz and the Spanish Franciscan José Rodriguez Carballo, was being assembled to investigate the Heralds. The group is to consist of a bishop, a religious and a church lawyer. "Nothing is known about the reasons for this initiative," says Tosatti, which recalls the Franciscans of Immaculata. Even after four years of the provisional administration, the Vatican has not yet given any reason for the drastic intervention of this traditional order, which had been flourishing until 2013.

It is obvious, according to Tosatti, that the founder of the Heralds of the Gospel, João Scognamiglio Clá Dias, was in touch with Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira to make him "suspicious". Corrêa de Oliveira, who died in 1995, was a mastermind and leader of the Catholic tradition in Brazil. Clá Dias worked for many years in the Brazilian Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family and Private Property (TFP) founded by Corrêa de Oliveira. On Corrêa de Oliveira's initiative, the Knights of the Gospel emerged, which Clá Dias led after his death, but led away from the social-political struggle and intensified religious life. This is a development expressed by the founding of the Societies of Consecrated Life and its own priestly members. Nevertheless, he calls Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira the "prophet of our time".

The community consists primarily of young people who are distinguished by their discipline. The members of consecrated life do not make vows, but commit themselves to celibacy and devote themselves entirely to the apostolate. They live in houses separated by sex. Their daily routine alternates between Liturgy (Holy Mass, Liturgy of Hours), Prayer (Rosary), study and especially evangelization. To this end they are called in dioceses and parishes, they are missionaries in the streets and go to prisons. The emphasis is on youth work. The religious dress, which is modeled on medieval heralds, is striking. It is equal for men and women, and represents the most visible continuity between the Knights of Corrêa de Oliveiras and the Heralds of Clá Dias.

The two societies of consecrated life are active in the field of art, culture and youth education, which is due to the fact that the founder Clá Dias sees a particularly suitable means of evangelization in music. In addition to activities in schools and universities, they are concerned with communities of elderly care, and they are mainly active in marginal areas, which is also to be understood geographically, for example, in the case of Feuerland.

Cardinal Braz de Aviz: "Throwing a watchful eye on new ecclesiastical realities"

"It is unclear for what reason this apostolic visitation will take place," says Tosatti. Cardinal Prefect Braz de Aviz had recently indicated that it was "appropriate" to raise a watchful eye on this "new ecclesial reality". Why? Because founders sometimes turn out to be "unsuitable," the Cardinal says, "to deal with the many vocations. In the case of the Franciscans of the Immaculate Heart, the Congregation of Religious, with the approval of Pope Francis, radically intervened, dismissed the whole order's leadership, and appointed Commissioners without mentioning any reason. The decision of the Order, founded in 1990, to return from the Novus Ordo to the traditional form of the Roman Rite in 2008, was the bone of contention.

After the Congregation of Religious failed to lay hands on the real estate of the Order with the help of the secular jurisdiction, the pressure on Father Stefano Maria Manelli, who had been deposed and held under house arrest, was recently increased to induce the lay associations to surrender the assets. At the same time, the Congregation of Religious does not shrink from threatening canonical sanctions against the implacable former Superior General, now 84 years old.

The Franciscans of Immaculata have been under the tutelage of the Papal Commissioner for four years. The Commissioner has just recently finished with the Institute of the Word of Flesh (IVE), an Order founded in 1984 in Argentina, which also attracts numerous vocations. Currently, the order includes around 800 priests, 2,000 religious women and more than 700 seminarians. It operates on all five continents, including the ballyhooed geographical and Catholic "periphery" such as Tajikistan, Papua New Guinea, Iceland, Palestine, Russia, Tunisia, Ukraine, Albania, Taiwan and Egypt. The order is divided into ten provinces, one vice-province and three delegations. In the Federal Republic of Germany, there has been a center of faith in the Archdiocese of Berlin since 2010, and since 2016, a branch with support of the pilgrimage church on the Mariahilfberg near Neumarkt in the Upper Palatinate (Diocese of Eichstätt). The branch of the Order of the Virgin Mary, Door of the Sunrise, which includes parts of Central and Northern Europe, also has branches in Luxembourg and the Netherlands.

The Heralds of the Gospel do not yet have branches in the German-speaking world.

Tosatti's summary:

"Apart from more or less real problems and more or less justified accusations against the founders, these communities have three essential similarities: they are committed to the tradition of the Church (therefore, the more Thomas than Rahner supporters, are characterized by a strong worship of Our Lady of Fatima and are active in the right to life of unborn children), many vocations (which are more suspicious nowadays in church hierarchies and bishops) and have considerable financial resources. "

Female "Pastor" Smashes Marian Statue in Brazil to Pieces -- Brazilian Catholics Outraged

(Rio de Janeiro) The "pastoress" of a Protestant congregation smashed a statue of Our Lady of Aparecida. The scene was filmed and released to the public. The great indignation caused by this caused the woman apologize in a video for her deed.

The incident occurred in the hinterland of the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo. In Botucatu, a Protestant female pastor of a local congregation performed a memorial service for Our Lady of Aparecida, Brazil's most important pilgrimage destination, in a meadow, and beat her with a hammer. The hammer attack left the Marian statue  in pieces. Brazilian media talked about it as the act of frenzy and even obsession. The fact is that in certain parts of Protestant free churches, they are strongly influenced by Calvinism, where there is a radical dislike for Mary and the worship of the Mother of God. The sectarian attitude must be repelent to all members of the Catholic and Orthodox Church.

The devotees of the "pastoress" cshouted "Hallelujah" during the destruction, praised Jesus and spoke of a "purification".

The destruction scene was filmed and the video released. The indignation was so great that the "pastoress" was compelled to publicly apologize for her misdeed.

2017 marks the 300th anniversary of Aparecida's Matian apparition. On 24th of July, Pope Francis visited the pilgrimage site in the State of Sao Paulo. At that time, the police uncovered a bomb. It was a professionally produced explosive set with deadly intent. Whoever  had set the bomb could not be found out. In the run-up, left-extreme and aberrosexual organizations had protested against the papal visit. Francis had traveled to Brazil for World Youth Day.

Pope Francis and the Left Option for Brazil -- "Political" Blessing of a Marian Statue of Aparecida in Vatican

(Rome) Last Saturday the daily bulletin of the Vatican announced that Pope Francis in the Vatican Gardens has blessed a bronze statue of Our Lady of Aparecida. It's a religious act mingled in a "strange" way with a policy that is related to the dismissal of Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff.
The previous day, the Cuban press agency Prensa Latina reported that Rousseff's predecessor, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, Brazil's president from 2003-2011, wrote the Pope a letter about the "serious" political situation "in Brazil and in the world". Rousseff and Lula belong to the same party, the Partido dos Trabalhadores (PT), the left "Workers' Party".

Prensa Latina is a press agency controlled by the communist regime in Cuba. The fact that they published the Lula-letter in full, recognizes the regular connections between the PT and the island state of the Castro brothers.

Lula informed Pope Francis in the letter that "conservative" political forces at work are on the "edge of legality" - wanting  to "prevent" a "continuity and progressive projects  and social development and free inclusion" by the Workers Party (PT).
In another letter Lula praised the "achievements" of the Workers' Party and sharply condemns the attacks against Dilma Rousseff. In order to take steps to  "criminalize" Rousseff and the "social movements", especially the PT.
Lula demands that can the people must be able choose its President "freely" by which he implied that free elections by the "conservative" forces are under threat. , The Lula wrote:  the "conservative" forces "fear that the people will choose me in 2018," and would therefore make him president again. The Brazilian constitution allows only two consecutive terms of a head of state. Meanwhile, Lula could run again.

On Saturday it was announced that Pope Francis had received the exact same letter from Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. In addition to the Cuban contacts, the common action of Lula and the "Bolivarian" President Maduro, reveals a political landscape that is situated with varying shades of social-democratic and communist, clearly left.
Observers doubt that it was an "accident". The letters and the cooperation of the Brazilian-Venezuelan-Cuban Left and the blessing of the statue of the Virgin of Aparecida, a Brazilian Marian shrine, "may be a coincidence, but it does not look like one," said Secretum meum mihi .
Pope Francis used the blessing to take a position on the situation in Brazil and did this by mixing religious and political aspects. The  pontiff said that Brazil is experiencing "sad moments."  That gesture and words as partisanship for Dilma Rousseff and the Workers' Party are to be understood,  which the "Pope-Girlfriend" and Pope's biographer, Elisabetta Piqué assures with an article in the Argentine newspaper La Nacion.

"May the Blessed Mother sustain left governments and keep 'conservative' forces back?"

With the blessing of the statue of Mary, Francis announced differently than initially indicated, that he would not travel to Brazil in 2017  to take part in 300-year celebrations of the Marian shrine of Aparecida.

Francis asked Our Lady of Aparecida on Saturday,  "to protect the Brazilian people in this sad moment and the poor, the marginalized, the abandoned elderly, to protect the street children; to save her people with social justice in the love of Jesus."
Piqué's article leaves no doubt that a certain political option is meant to be protected by the Mother of God. To say it in the sense of Lula and Maduro: "May the Mother of God sustain the left-wing government in power and keep the 'conservative' forces them away," said Francisco Fernandez de la Cigoña.
Already in the course of the presidential campaign in Argentina, Pope Francis had chosen the left option and preferred the Peronist candidate, but the people elected the "conservative" opposition candidate, which has since led to a series of tensions in relations.
The same signaling by the Catholic Church leader took place on his Latin American visit in 2015. During the meetings with the leftist president of Ecuador and Bolivia were demonstratively friendly, Francis showed the "conservative" president of Paraguay the cold shoulder, to put it cautiously. In fact, he attacked him openly and completely without foundation.

Stray Dog by the Lord

(Brasilia) A photo being passed around in social networking sites has given rise to some emotions in the past few days. A Brazilian pastor published the picture of a stray dog on his Facebook page, "what is commonly called a stray dog ​​here," said the pastor.

The dog somehow got into the parish church of the Brazilian community Aguas de Santa Barbara on the Second Sunday of Advent. Jose Edmilson Zanin described the unusual event, "At the sight of this ownerless animal that lives on the street, but found a safe refuge here in the Lord, I was moved with compassion, and I thought: Why can't even we humans, guided by this certainty, always find safety and protection with Jesus." The dog behaved very calmly, without moving around in the Church during the sacred liturgy. "What lessons can animals give us," exclaimed Msgr. Zanin. Meanwhile, several people have reported that they wish to raise the animal.

Aguas de Santa Barbara has more than 5,000 inhabitants. The community is located in the state of Sao Paulo and is part of the Archdiocese of Botucatu.

"Brotherly Visit" -- Pope Francis Offers "Ultra-Progressive" Clique Another Victim

(Rome) "The Holy Father Francis has accepted the resignation of pastoral governance of the Archdiocese of Passo Fundo (Brazil) submitted by His Ecc Msgr. Antonio Carlos Altieri SDB, adopted in accordance with Canon 401 § 2 of the Code of Canon Law."  This news was published in the daily bulletin of the Holy See yesterday.
One might assume Archbishop Altieri from the Salesian Order is seriously ill and therefore prevented from continuing the leadership of his diocese. "The truth is that his 'resignation' followed on what would be called today, a fraternal visit," said Secretum meum mihi . In fact, it refers to an Apostolic Visitation. In this specific case, Pope Francis had sent the Brazilian Cardinal Claudio Hummes as Visitor to the Archdiocese Passo Fundo. That same Cardinal Hummes, Jorge Mario Bergoglio allegedly recommended after his election, to call Francis and the new Pope, and had shown the Pope the way by saying:  "Do not forget the poor."

"Bishop who does not behave the way  ultra-progressive clergy wants, has numbered days"

What the local Brazilian media reported is reminiscent of similar cases in the past year. "The direction of 'mercy' against bishops whose  whose inclinations do not fit the Franciscan era: A more or less conservative bishop who does not behave as   the ultra-progressive part of his clergy wants, has numbered days," so says the Brazilian site Fratres in Unum . "The liberal clique is well organized, knows what it wants and knows especially which way it has to tread."
In Passo Fundo there is a Theological Institute, which is in the hands of liberation theologians. They complained to the Apostolic Nuncio, Archbishop Antonio Carlos Altieri, is said to   have spent $ 600,000 for the renovation of the bishop's residence, the Seminary, the Archdiocese and a retreat house. [That's cheap.]
In another complaint Archbishop Altieri was charged with  pursuing "rubricismus" and "ritualism" pursuing, say, in the sacred liturgy focusing too much on compliance with the rubrics and a worthy celebration. In addition, the group of priests criticized his willingness of the bishop to accept seminarians who have been rejected by other dioceses.
In fact, the seminary of Passo Fundo counts itself as having, in relation to its population, an above average number of seminarians. In the Archdiocese which is however different reasons: "One focus of Archbishop Altieri is the pastoral care of vocations, therefore, is also the renovation of the seminary. It shows what is important for the diocese. And it was necessary because of the many seminarians," said the deputy rector shortly after the start of the visit. Only  unofficially was was it confirmed today in the diocese that "appropriate seminarians were taken that were too 'conservative' who were rejected in other dioceses." With the addition: "You know, many bishops are fairly liberal."

Bishop was "at least a ray of hope"

Archbishop Altieri was dubbed by the media as a "conservative" in the Brazilian episcopate. He was not closely connected to tradition. In 2014 he turned against the state efforts to equate homosexual relationships to marriage.  "Society can not simply turn a blind eye to the equality of homosexuals". In the Diocese of Passo Fundo, "concubinage among the clergy is widespread, Archbishop Altieri was at least a ray of hope," said Fratres in Unum. In Archbishop Altieri, Catholics hoped  for a suppression of the influence of liberation theology in Passo Fundo.
At the beginning of the visitation, Archbishop Altieri informed the whole diocese about it and urged all to "full" and "constructive" cooperation with the Visitor, "so that we participate in it  through our prayer and reflection on the importance of this moment, which Providence gives us." The fact that the visitation would end with his removal from office, the Archbishop had not considered possible.
Msgr. Paulo De Conto, Bishop of Montenegro, will initially carry out the task  as Apostolic Administrator the Archdiocese Passo Fundo until Pope Francis will have appointed a successor to Archbishop Altieri.
Archbishop Altieri was born in 1951, ordained a priest in 1978 and 2006 appointed by Pope Benedict XVI.  as Bishop of Caraguatatuba. In 2012 he was appointed, also by Benedict XVI., as Archbishop of Passo Fundo. At the age of 63 years, he has now been put out of service.

Canonization of a Missionary, And Rejection of Mission?

(Rome) Pope Francis celebrated on Thursday in the Roman Jesuit church of St Ignatius of Loyola in Campo Marzio, a Mass of Thanksgiving for the Canonization of the Jesuit missionary José de Anchieta (1534-1597). The new saint is venerated as the "Apostle of Brazil". His canonization was "pro gratia" without a regular canonization process, because such would be impracticable because of the large temporal distance. The missionary and founder of Sao Paulo in Brazil has a reputation for holiness and is venerated in the Portuguese-speaking country in Latin America by the faithful people as "national saint".

Only 19 years old, he had set out as a missionary in the New World. There he received the priesthood in 1566. The Holy José de Anchieta worked all his life as a missionary and is worshiped as such. Pope Francis said, literally, that the new saints of such religious zeal was animated, that he "could form a nation", today's Brazil.
All the more surprising that Pope Francis, the words mission, missionary or proselytizing never mentioned in his sermon was. Instead, he reiterated its condemnation of the "proselytism". Literally, the Pope said: "The Church does not grow by proselytizing, but by the charisma and appeal of the witnesses and the joy."  The testimony arising from the "joy" that will to proclaim. "Without this joy without this joy, you can not start a Church. It is an apostolic joy that radiates and spreads. "

"Proselytism" No, Mission: Unspoken, Joy: Yes

In his interview with the atheist Eugenio Scalfari the Pope had said that "proselytism is a huge stupidity". He included not only an aggressive mission form as  some Protestant groups are accused of being, a rejection, but overall of mission, he said to Scalfari "I do not want to convert" (see the Full Interview of Atheist Scalfari with Pope Francis - Is There No Objective Good? ).
We now know that Scalfari formulated the answers of the Pope himself. However,  the atheist doyen of the prevailing left-liberal mainstream is assured to have this content exactly reproduced in summary as the Pope had told him (backgrounds for Pope Interview - Scalfari: "I Formulated The Pope's Answers Myself" ). 

Otherwise he later spoke two weeks later for World Mission Sunday at the General Audience of 16 October 2013 (see No to Conversions, Yes For Mission - The Pope Contradict Himself? ). The Church has a task, and it is called "mission". In this specifically Christian category and related language Pope Francis, however,  strongly criticizes  "proselytism", "poaching" of other faiths, but speaks simultaneously of a "charism" and "spread" by the "joy" of the "testimony"

What is the Message of the Pope?

In the absence of conclusive presented concept the interpretation of the Pope's words remain  uncertain and there are a variety of questions. For example: Is it a general waiver of mission? What does Pope Francis with "proselytism", that  "there is no way for the growth of Church"? If you want the church to wait passively until other faiths or atheists - attracted by the testimony - ask for  inclusion in the Community Church   but isn't active in any way in  missionary work?    The elimination of the Jewish mission is in fact already a fact, the renunciation of the Protestant mission is mostly accomplished: now there follows a general waiver of mission because the other faiths "already"  believe? Or does the Pope simply redeem  the "old" language regime and replace it with a new one? Joy as a synonym for mission? Why doesn't  he say it?
The papal statements confuse especially in connection with the canonization of José de Anchieta, it resulted solely from his mission and zeal for souls in Brazil. He wanted to proclaim Christ and wanted to evangelize. Had he otherwise remained in Europe, would he have joined another Order and led somewhere a contemplative religious and priestly life?

Post Card From the Sugar Loaf --- Catholics Are a Minority in Rio

(Rio de Janeiro) Pope Francis is on a flight to the area's largest and most populous country in Latin America. The Catholic Church's leader will undertake his pastoral visit to Brazil up to the 29th of July. The reason is World Youth Day, which takes place this year in the Brazilian Atlantic metropolis of Rio de Janeiro.

The Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life of Washington has shown a graphical representation of the religious development of the Brazilians in the past 40 years.

Brazil is the country with the most Catholics worldwide. 123 million Brazilians profess the Catholic Church. It was not until half a century ago virtually the entire population Catholic, the proportion of Catholics since the Second Vatican Council has plummeted. From 92 percent in 1970 to 65 percent in 2010.

At the same time the Protestants experienced an equally unexpected and rapid rise. Their share in the same period grew from five to 22 percent. While the Catholics are holding during the years of he 20th century at just more than 120 million members, not decreasing, but not increasing either, while the number of Protestants has grown only since 2000 from 26 to 42 million.

By Protestant, is not meant the Lutheran or Reformed churches known in Northern Hemisphere. In Brazil this historical strand of Protestantism does not flower, but the Pentecostals and Evangelicals do. One in five Brazilians belongs to a group of younger Protestant sects which were imported from the United States to the Latin American country. Since then, several new communities that have arisen in Brazil, the Igreja Pentecostal Deus é Amor (IPDA).

On a smaller scale, other religions have grown in recent decades. Most through immigration. Within the country, the number of followers of syncretic Afro-Brazilian spiritualist cults such as Umbanda and Candomblé increased from six million in 2000 to ten million.

In 1970 there were less than a million without a religion, the number of agnostics and atheists has grown to 15 million.

The changes occur as a phenomenon in both women and men, among educated and less educated. It is more pronounced among the under-50s. One difference is particularly visible between the cities and the rural areas. While the country is still 78 percent Catholic, it is in the urban areas at only 62 percent where the Evangelicals and Pentecostals are particularly active, but also the number of atheists and agnostics is greater.

In Rio de Janeiro, the goal of Pope Francis, Catholics are at 46 percent only a minority. The aim of the Pope is to breathe new missionary life with his first trip to Latin America of the Brazilian church. A new vitality that is able to stop and reverse the trend and that radiates to other Latin American countries.

Pope Francis accepted the council of Pope Benedict XVI., with whom he meets in recent times more and more frequently, and prayed yesterday before the miraculous image the The Virgin of Rome in the Basilica Santa Maria Maggiore.

In the coming days Pope Francis will show how he presents the trend reversal against the erosion process of the Catholic Church to Protestant Pentecostals, agnostic and non-religious syncretistic African animist cults.

Pope Francis Receives the Old Ritual Bishop of Campos -- When Will the Reception for the Bishops of the SSPX?

(Vatican) Francis Pope received Areas Bishop Rífan with great cordiality of the Apostolic Personal Administration of St. John Mary Vianney in Campos, Brazil. The administration is the only territorial jurisdiction of the extraordinary form of the Roman Rite, which was erected in 2002 by Pope John Paul II.  the Personal Administration has about 150 parishes. The establishment goes back to Bishop Antonio de Castro Mayer (1904-1991), who failed to administrate the post-conciliar reform in his diocese. In 1988 he was excommunicated together with Archbishop Lefebvre because of the illicit episcopal consecration of four priests of the SSPX.
Founded by Castro Mayer The Priestly  Association of St. John Mary Vianney SSJV ministered the ancient rite of the Mass even after his resignation as diocesan bishop. The bishops of the SSPX consecrated Bishop Licinio Rangel in 1991 as Superior of the SSJV. In 2002 Pope John Paul II  recognized the parallel situation in the Diocese of Campos by establishing a traditional Personal Administration with its own bishop, and a new ritual  next to the diocese with their bishop.  Bishop Rifan is the second bishop of the administration.
The Apostolic Personal Administration was also particularly interested in finding a canonical solution for the SSPX, should an agreement between the Holy See and the same should arise. Until then, the question of when the bishops of the SSPX will be received with this obvious warmth remains in Rome.

The TFP Processing Against Abortion and Aberrosexualism Attacked by Mob

He pressed them very much to turn in unto him: and when they were come into his house, he made them a feast, and baked unleavened bread and they ate: But before they went to bed, the men of the city beset the house both young and old, all the people together. Edit: this appeared recently on the  LifeSiteNews, which is nice. The Traditionalist TFP (Tradition Family and Private Property) members stoutly marched through the streets of Curitiba to protest the sin of abortion and aberrosexuality in the state of Parana where they were greeted mostly by friendly, well-wishing people of the town. This abruptly ended as they were attacked by a vulgar crowd of tolerant Leftists who shouted obscenities and spat on them while inciting violence. One of the brave TFP members was struck by an object at one point and had to go to the hopistal.

Videos of the harassment were filmed by the perpetrators themselves, and two of them found their way onto the blog of Milton Alves, a former communist who is now a member of the socialist Worker's Party that currently holds power at the federal level in Brazil.  Alves acknowledged his presence and expressed his support for the counter-protesters, stating, "I was there and I saw everything. I'm on the side of democracy and against the TFP."

Both Can't be Right at the Same Time

Edit:  the place where the straw was placed that broke the camel's back is in Brazil at a traditional monastery where Bishop Williamson confirmed some children this summer against the wishes of his superiors in the SSPX who did not want him performing any public ministry.  The Prior of this place wrote a brief letter to which we've translated here.  It describes the lines at which the Society will fracture if it does.

( At present there are two currents in Tradition:  the one wants unity with Rome and the other doesn't.

The one and the other

Some say: We must enter the Church.

The others think:  Whoever is already in, doesn't have to enter.

But we need canonical regularization -- answer the others.

Such is the case with French Benedictine Cloister Le Barroux and the Apostolic Administration of Campos in Brazil and many other cases -- say the second class.

But we won't fall.  It is impossible that God would let this happen. [Neither is it a guarantee that you won't fall in your sonderweg.]

"Wherefore he that thinketh himself to stand, let him take heed lest he fall," is the warning of St. Paul in the 1st Corinthians 10:12.

The evil endures

The same reason will cause the effect to come.

If Benedict XVI canonizes those who excommunicated Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre (+1991) and Bishop Antonio Castro Mayer (+1991), if he celebrates the Jubilee of Assisi, if he defends the Second Vatican Council as conforming with Tradition, then one can see that the evils of the Pontificate of John Paul II have continued under Benedict XVI.

Rome is changing?

But Rome is changing, say the defenders of the negotiations.

In which direction?  Rome allows the Old Mass and removed the Excommunications -- they answer.

But what use is it to allow the Mass of All Times, if Rome allows both forms of Liturgy. [This was a status quo which Archbishop Lefebvre would have accepted.  He was willing to accept far less earlier on.  These concessions by Pope Benedict is actually quite astonishing and have caused untold handwringing on the part of Liberals who wish to pretend that the first 2,000 years of the Church had never happened.]

The New Mass is Hagar

We read in Holy Writ: Cast out the bondwoman and her son; for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the free woman. (Gal 4:30).

Abraham obeyed against his will and made a  contract against it for his wife Sara.

God gave Sara the right, because what is free should not be given over to enslavement.

The New Mass is Hagar, which has no right.  It should be exiled.

Contradictory Context

What the lifting of the excommunications of the Society Bishops refers to: What use is it, to return if one canonizes that which had pronounced against you?

Indeed these two facts do not grasp a certain canonical use.

Actually the spiritual use of the freeing of the Old Mass, which had never been forbidden, and the lifting of the excommunications, which were never valid, is put very much in question by  a contradictory context, in which it would be denounced.

Both may not be right at the same time

 Either John Paul II is right or Archbishop Lefebvre.

One can't praise John Paul II and at the same time withdraw the excommunication of Msgr Lefebvre, in so far as they were really taken back.

Both can't be right at the same time.  That is pure Modernism.

The result is a contradiction

It's the same relative to the Mass.

If both are allowed, the result is a contradiction.

That is the beginning of the solution and the destruction of the Catholic Faith.

It must be composed at the beginning

The defender of the Roman offer will say that Rome can not end the past crisis with a conflict.

Human efforts will not solve it immediately.

In order to end the past chaos, it will require a lot of time.  That is doubtless.

But the beginning of this order will come when the Pope has the intention to initiate this.

How Napoleon?

The question arises now: does Benedict XVI want to create Church order?

Of course -- is what some defenders answer.

Nothing is less certain than that -- say we.

To create order in the Church, does not mean, as like it was with Napoleon, to control the Revolution and institutionalize it in this manner.

In order to create chaos, you need a little order -- says the writer and Catholic Brazilian thinker Gustavo Corçăo (+ 1978).

Reconciliation With Liberalism

Benedict XVI.  is a man of order.  But the order which he wants will not be motivated by the royal grandeur of Jesus Christ.

For him the problem lies in the Council, to bring together two hundred years of Liberal culture.

That is what Benedict XVI works for.

Does a Modernist Fight Modernism?

Actually, the others say: Benedict XVI is on the front defending Tradition.  He told us. He wants our help in order to fight Modernism.

This is what was said in Campos too.

How can Benedict XVI need our help in the struggle against Modernism, when he himself is a Modernist?

He can only fight against Modernism, when he has given up Modernism.

With the methods being used till now there will never come a solution.

The complete Faith

I don't know.  What I know is, that St. Anselm of Canterbury said, that God desires nothing so much on the face of the earth than the freedom of His Church.

Actually, a Tradition, which has no interest to stand for the completeness of the Catholic Faith, is the opposite of that which God loves.

But how can you recognize Tradition and the Church?  Naturally, because the Church is Traditional in its nature and it can never give up this quality.

We are the sons of freedom

We is Benedict XVI., if he is not a Traditionalist?  He is a Liberal Pope, who has subjugated the Church.

To put ones self under his authority, without challenging these errors, would be the same as putting Sara under the same yolk as Hagar or Isaac under the same yoke as Ismael.

We are the sons of the free and not slaves, whose are sons of the Second Vatican Council -- a slave of a two hundred year old Liberal culture.

Through Prayer and Struggle

What is the solution, then?  The penitence of the Pope.

How can one bring about this penitence?  Through prayer and struggle.

God doesn't want victory from us, rather battle, as St. Joan of Arc said:

"The soldiers will stubble and God will give the victory" -- through the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

There is our entire hope.
