Priest and President of the Rotary Club Rhön Presents a Cheque to a Forbidden Organization

The Fulda professor of Pastoral Theology and Homiletics Dr. Richard Hartmann has in his capacity as President of the Rotary Club Rhön, presented the President of the Regional Group of Donum Vitae, Ms. Hohmann, a check for 3.000, - €, reports Osthessen-News.
So it is that the elected representative of the Catholic Church has supported a group officially banned by the church.
Heinz Josef Algermissen, Bishop of Fulda, has been a member of Rotary International for a long time.
In the so-called service clubs, including Rotary International is one, there is a strict duty of confidentiality about memberships and internals.
"Under the premise of this secrecy is there not the substantial risk  that an organization insinuates itself in the Church, which has expressly excluded the religious from their program, e.g. the appointment of bishops and the spiritual orientation," asks the Zusammenschluss Papstreuer Vereinigungen.. [Consortium of Associations Loyal to Rome]
Google search shows, incidentally, that many bishops are moved to  cultivate association with Rotary Clubs. The question is asked: who influences whom. Are the Rotarians becoming Catholic, or the bishops Rotarians?

I have heard that the Rotarians are a subsidiary of Freemasonry. Is there any truth to this statement?

I just put an image up there that should work for you. That above is official Rotary regalia.

Compass and ruler. Symbols of "the builders", the God killers.

How can membership be secret when members are encouraged to wear their Rotary lapel pins in public? I have been a Rotarian for thirty-five years and my club has only been engaged in raising money for local charities such as soup kitchens, etc.

Do you hire a band to go before you in the marketplace too?

Fr. Denis Fahey in his book The Mystical Body of Christ in the Modern World
has a very clear explanation why Catholics can't belong to the Rotary Club.

I do not understand the need for a Catholic to be a member of any organization. If you want to help the community and indeed the world then be more involved in your local church functions. Teach catechism, volunteer to do maintenance or raise funding for all the myriad of Catholic projects which aid the entire local community. Plus the foreign missions, local political activism, etc. Who needs the Rotary, Lions or any other non...and likely very anti Catholic group? You risk much!

I wouldn't have a problem with Knights if they'd kick out Pro-Aborts and quit hanging with Masons.

I'm part of a family that's been Roman Catholic for at least 4-500 years. I've been part of the Rotary family for 40+ years: spent a year abroad as an Exchange Student, another as a Rotary Foundation Scholar, and as a Rotarian many years now. Rotary's mission parallels the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. We welcome all to be members regardless of religious beliefs. If one were to look at Rotary's mission and compare it to Roman Catholic Social Justice teaching, one would see clearly that they agree with each other.

Rotary is not a "secret society;" however, especially in these times of cyber-theft/identity theft etc., we do our best to protect the privacy of our members — just as every parish protects its members' privacy. Regarding Rotary: FALSE: "strict duty of confidentiality about memberships and internals." (Schneider 15 Jan 2014)

Rotary International is a completely independent organization, and unrelated to any other. FALSE: "Rotarians are a subsidiary of Freemasonry." (Anonymous 18 Jan 2014)

In re Mar's Jan 19 2014: this man was controversial and sowed hatred when alive. He's been dead 60+ years — almost 9 years before Vatican II was convened. I know my Church and I know Rotary. Pope Francis is an Honorary Member of the Rotary Club of Buenos Aires.

In re Anonymous' Jan 20 2014: my life is richer because I do not live within the confines of a Roman Catholic "glass house". I live in the world but am not of the world. Anonymous, if you do not understand the need, make haste to join the first non-Roman Catholic organization you find. Not only will you meet "the other", you just might meet Christ as well.

An enormous part of what fueled the events of 11 Sept 2001 was not knowing our sisters and brothers of different faiths as well as we could, and dialoguing and collaborating more with each other.

Sisters and brothers, "shake the dust from your sandals"! Go out and invite in a stranger, put clothes on a naked person, visit someone who is sick or in prison.

Oh, and the photograph above: even it is FAKE. This is not an authentic pin licensed by Rotary International.

Ironically, you espouse Masonic ideals and are basically a practical Freemason.
