+++Pell’s History of Protecting Sex Abusers

Edit: Sciambra is an unfortunate creature who you can’t trust in general, but he at least strives for objectivity. His interview with John Lamont at Church Militant is particularly useful, despite his occasional and unnecessary autobiographical interjections. People think that because they’re “victims” that they have authority.

John Lamont is unusual, since he works at Church Militant and yet accuses the pope of being a heretic. What’s going on there? Unfortunately, he doesn’t talk about Pell’s other credible accusers of lurking around the pools, and doesn’t seem to think there’s a lot of evidence for Pell himself being an abuser. I don’t agree there.

Neither is Pell is a friend of tradition, according to Lamont (Pell writes an encomium on Chardin of all things) nor is he anything but a mediocre functionary.

Here are the time stamps:

00:00  Sciambra Introduces John Lamont, who works with Church Militant.

Sciambra says positive things about Voris’s showboat apostolate. Positive about CMs attacks on SSPX and FSSP.

2:43 Church Militant is the only one that takes victims’ stories seriously.

3:00 Reviews credentials starting in Canada, then as Gifford Fellow in Scotland.  His book, “Defending the Church Against Present Heresies” by Arucca Press which is an attack on Bergoglio’s heresies. Wow!

5:00 hired at Sydney Seminary because he studied under a liberal peritus at Vatican II and got to know Pell.

6:20 Pell has a long history of covering up sex abuse and belongs in jail.

6:35 Discussion of Pell’s alleged exoneration by the Australian Supreme Court and Traditionalist  Catholics defense of him.

8:20 Picture of Pell going to court with convicted sex offender, Gerald Ridsdale, which leads Sciambra to dig deeper.

We haven’t heard much about this in the USA.

10:00 John Lamont begins by way of an introduction of the history of the Australian Church .

10:50 Joseph Banks initiated Penal Colony in 1788 in Botany Bay with convicts and their guards. Penal colony till 1850s gold rush.

11:50 Colony was brutal for minor offenders who were slaves till the end of their terms. Protestant dominance is the colony was very cruel for Catholics.

14:00 John Bede Polding, English Benedictine who wanted a chain of monasteries, but was pushed aside by the Jesuits.

15:25 Australia is dominated by Freemasons

15:30 Canberra was planned by occultists. Wow!

16:20 Sciambra intervenes about his secrecy hobby horse.

17:00 The laity depended on the educated clergy for matters secular and spiritual.

18:00 But it’s not a bad thing, “huddling” per se, says Sciambra, but the tendency to keep things in house…. [These people always want to rationalize these things with historicism, aimed at the hierarchal nature of the Church.]

18:50 Pell’s father was a boxer who owned a pub and ran a bookie

20:30 Cardinals and bishops are singled out and Sciambra finds this very interesting.

21:00 Ballarat’s background as a mining time and Pell’s tenure there till 1975. It’s essential to understand Pell.

22:00 Bellarat is notorious. Pell first addressed sex abuse in 1974 by not doing anything about a boy who said he was abused.

23:40 14 credibly accused clergy.  850 children claimed to be abused by Christian Brothers and 30 committed suicide.

24:00 Diocese of Ballarat is a criminal organization.

24:40 Pell was a man of ambition.  So he was committed to getting ahead in the organization he belonged. Use your knowledge to get ahead.

25:50 Ridsdale  Royal Commission determines Pell knew about the abuse. Kerns asks Pell about Ridsdale, which Pell denies and is not found credible by Commission

26:00 Ridsdale is the worst and most sadistic abuser in Australian Church. Pell accompanied him.

28:15 Appears in court with Ridsdale to send a message. Do what I want and I’ll protect you.

30:00 Pell knew pedos were running it or had the veto, so he played that game.

30:40 Pell admits he knew about it when he sent Ridsdale to treatment in the US. Sciambra discusses Farrel who claimed he didn’t know about McCarrick. (He takes the time to take a catty shot at traditionalists)

33:10 Ridsdale’s nephew, David Ridsdale approached Pell

33:30 John Walsh accused of abuse by John Walsh, nothing happens so Pell promotes him. He’s easier to control. Ridsdale’s nephew, David, claims he was offered money.  Walsh is compelled by Pell to testify, with no effect, and then causes his victim John Walsh to speak out. Gives insight on the Royal Commission being good on the Catholic Church.

36:30 Explains the Royal Commission which documents are available on line.

37:30 Explains Wollongong and mayor Frank Arkell who was bludgeoned to death by a Satanist. He and the local police and clergy were in on preying on children. https://www.illawarramercury.com.au/story/4095493/the-wollongong-leader-that-fell-prey-to-a-twisted-killer/

39:00 Walsh quits under duress. (After being told by Pell to lie)

39:30 Sciambra interrupts to quote Pell’s defense of appearing in public with Ridsdale.  Compares it to Bergoglio’s hypocritical lies, and turns to discuss how Bishops are chosen.  Pell shouldn’t have risen after his 1993 hearing at the Royal Commission, but he gets promoted. Talks about the “tone deafness” of the people deciding who gets promoted.

42:00 Talks about “Precious Little” Bishop Little who protected pedos himself.

43:00 Sciambra talks about the gravity of Ridsdale’s crimes.  Talks about the “those were the times” defense people like to use, as well as an unfortunate comparison to Nuremberg.

45:50 Melbourne Response, an alleged independent commissioner who is a representative of the Church to offer a $50k payoff and NDA.

47:40 Canon which demands that clergy should be punished.

48:50 Sciambra cites from Melbourne Response that victims have the right to approach the civil authority but claims will be “strenuously defended.”

50:04 Case of John Ellis who is an attorney and victim by Adrian Duggan, who gets sued by the Church when the court decides the Catholic Church can’t be sued and they go after him to recover their legal costs of $1.5 million.

53:30 Pattern with Pell where he is brutal to abuse victims. He denies knowing about Ellis to Royal Commission, which found Pell as not credible.

58:10 Pell’s arrogance and absence of remorse.

1:01 What is the purpose of the Melbourne Response?

1:02 Vatican Bank conspiracy.

(Pell has some good traits, not completely devoid of humanity, like Pope)

1:03:30 Pell was the kingmaker of the Australian Church under JPII. Not men of principle, but those who would obey him.

1:04:20 Pell is viewed favorably by traditionalists and Neocons.

1:06 Pell is not a traditionalist, but permits them. FSSP parish dinner, a meeting on the Latin Mass which he thought was a fundraiser with lots of old people and he saw all the young people and threw away his prepared speech filled with erudite discussion on the Mass and talked about how horrible the old Mass was.

1:07:18 Old Irish Gangster

1:07:50 Traditionalists want scraps

1:08:25 Why not Vigano instead of Pell?

1:09 Fessio publishing Pell’s prison journals to raise money to cover his expenses. [Ignatius Press sucks]

1:11 The jury didn’t care about the evidence, they just saw all the dirt on Pell in addition to that.

1:12 Pell is the only Cardinal to go to prison, even though he deserved to go to prison for the things he DID do.

1:13:20 Quote from Pell saying he didn’t have much interest in the victims stories and suffering. People gasped at that during the hearing. Thug and sociopath coming out…

1:17 Picture of Saint Patrick’s Seminary with Pell and Archbishop Cordileone. He’s like a boxer who won’t go down, he’s been to jail and he’s back out swinging.

1:19 David O’Hearn now convicted of dozens of offenses. Things are so bad in Australia… Bishop Heather was caught shredding documents. Exercising sex Ed program, Bishop Vincent Long.

Caught Heather coming out of a night club which led to Heather retiring, who still appears at Australian Bishops’s Conferences.

1:22 Celeste Patterson, it’s like Dame Edna Experience skit

1:23 if Pell could have gotten to the top by burning pedos at the stake, he would have done that.

1:23:10 priests who tried to do the right thing and got “squashed”.

1:24:40 System is broken

1:24:50 Benedictine monastic system as an alternative to keep the bad ones out.

1:26 Sciambra doesn’t like top-down model. [Lame]

1:27 How do you keep your faith? Fabulous Rod Dreher couldn’t!

1:28 He plugs his book, Divine Faith. About the rational basis for the Catholic Faith

1:30:30 Religious Education Meeting in LA. They’re just corrupt mediocrities.

1:31:02 there is a narrative that’s been spun about Pell. Do your reading, Catholics!

1:32:30 Pell should have lain low for the victims he trashed.  Why didn’t he go to the beach house he inherited from his mother? He built a luxurious palace for himself in Rome. Leopard can’t change its spots. I guess he and his supporters want to do their victory March.

1:34:10 Pell was accused falsely. Thinks that Pell himself wasn’t an abuser.

#276: Reactions to My “Francis Is an Anti-Pope” Video

While the topic of who is the real pope? is interesting enough, we find the reactions that discussing it engenders very entertaining and revealing.  Coffin has ripped the face off his erstwhile colleagues in mainstream apologetics.  He has also exposed Church Militant as a homo-cult led by a narcissistic pied piper of young men and assisted by a Vietnamese kapo.   Surprisingly, Thug Gordon comes across as fair and eager to get on camera to discuss the issue with anyone.   Perhaps, we shouldn't be surprised that he'll accept any exposure since he was promoting himself via Wikipedia.  He's done shows with Jimmy Akin and is probably game for skateboarding with Mark Shea.

Thug’s Wife Plagiarized His Brother’s Work!

 No Honor Amongst Thugs!

Kamalaesque word salad from Canon212

Edit: Thug Gordon’s wife plagiarized his brother’s work and he isn’t happy about it. Her book, Ask Your Husband,  has been pulled from Tan. Here’s the cucky review from a feminist named Abigail Favale at the Old Liberal Catholic World Report, who could have been making sandwiches and instead reviewed and is also one of the first to call out Mrs. Thug on Twitter.  The now deleted Twitter:

According to Canon212, Mrs. Thug issued a cease and desist against her!

It has received positive views from the now Wholly Agnostic Steve’s 1Peter5.

After 1Peter5 deleted the story, I decided to clip it and repost it here.

Was the Second Vatican Council Properly Concluded? Probably Not…

Bishop Williamson agreed to depart in relative peace from the SSPX on condition that Bishop Fellay agree to send his agents to the basement of the Vatican to undo the astrofreezing of both Pope Paul VI and the real Sr. Lucia that happened in early 1965. The problem is not that “Pope Benedict” didn’t fill out the right canonical paperwork to resign or that he resigned under coercion (both of which are true), but that neither he, nor Bergolio, nor Popskie (a.k.a. “Pope John Paul II”) nor John Paul I (i.e., a Soviet plant taken out in secret by the Swiss Guard because he couldn’t distinguish between grana padano and pecorino toscano cheeses, something any true Italian pope would know for sure) were really elected popes at all. What this means, of course, is that the Second Vatican Council was never officially ended, and thus its errors can still be corrected if Pope Paul VI emerges from the astrofreezing inflicted upon him by the Masons and tries to reconvene Vatican II, like the Councils of Pisa and Pistoia. Although it is not clear who exactly besides Pope Paul would have voting rights, apparently the proposed agenda includes plans to excommunicate Pope Michael of Kansas, Pope Benedict XVI for being the modernist he clearly is (he went along with the Novus Ordo, after all), Ginés Jesús Hernández and Joseph Odermatt (i.e., “Pope Gregory XVIII” and “Pope Peter III” of the Palmarians), and Russell M. Nelson (the President of the Mormons), just to clear the air and make sure everyone’s on the same page. Also on the chopping block might be the editorial board of The National Catholic Reporter, Sister Joan Chittister (who by witchcraft and the handiwork of the Devil is still somehow alive), and notable bloggers and/or modernists, like Mark P. Shea, Mike Lewis (Where Peter Is), Sean Michael Winter, Austen Ivereigh (Francis’s biographer), and everyone who likes the PrayTell blog.

(As an aside: Black light has recently revealed that the Kabbalah was secretly copied with the filthiest and most blasphemous parts of the Talmud into the pages of the Collegeville Bible. All copies are to be assembled and used as kindling to burn all the known copies of The Remnant, because Michael Matt failed to maintain his commitment to the Social Reign of Christ the King and the Catholic Confessional State, as is evidenced by the fact that he has retreated into self-constructed, theatrical catacombs from which he digitally communicates with the cowardly. Moreover, he has failed to sufficiently condemn Rod Dreher for his apostasy to the Eastern Schismatics.)

On the other hand, it might be that formerly-“Cardinal” McCarrick, because the Vatican bureaucracy and the Italian Republic forgot to take away his keys, might also be trying to undo the astrofreezing of Pope Paul VI, because he’s bitter that at the time of the astrofreezing the Pontiff owed him about 70 Italian lira for a rent boy. Taking into consideration the unreliable banking situation in Italy and the Vatican and fluctuating interest rates, that sum might equal 900 Euros today. Little does McCarrick know, however, that the money has already been spent to ensure that Cardinal Wilton Gregory doesn’t reveal himself as the Black, transwoman, Atlanta prostitute he/she/they is. McCarrick is also bitter that he has been reduced to working as a delivery boy at Comet Ping Pong, where Pizzagate happened.

A third and more likely possibility is that Fellay’s agents and McCarrick are cooperating together. But why the urge to bring back Pope Paul VI to the scene, you might ask? The fact is, Fellay, Williamson, and the Israelis want President Trump to be declared Holy Roman Emperor by the real Pope, to lead us out of the mess of partisan politics and factionalism and into the universal peace promised by Our Lady of Fatima, but most CIA agents, virtually all non-observant Jews, the FBI, most Jesuits, half the Cardinals, and PETA do not want this, but especially to blame are the Jesuits, Jews, Masons, Communists, and Rastafarians (mostly the same people) and the Palmarians. To prevent the restoration of the Holy Roman Empire and the revelation to the world of Trump as the Holy Monarch of prophecy, former QAnon Shaman, Jake Angeli, currently a Palmarian “priest,” was planted by the CIA and Vice President Pence to orchestrate the illegal entry into the Capitol Building by Biden’s volunteers. (Clarence Thomas’s wife, Ginni, may have had something to do with it too.)

Remember that Mike Pence, “former” Catholic who attends Evangelical services, is still under the control of the modernist papacy, because all so-called former Catholics never properly abjure their former allegiance. He’s also probably a Mason from Indiana, based on the mere statistical fact of the high number of Masons per capita from Indiana. He decided to intervene on January 6, because Trump was coming very close to being declared Emperor. To that end, Trump was secretly confirmed a Catholic by Archbishop Viganò according to the traditional rite. But don’t worry about the validity of Trump’s confirmation, because Viganò conditionally received all the minor and major orders, including episcopal consecration, from Williamson himself. If Trump had been able to retain the Presidency, he might have been installed as Donald I, Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire by the Pope and King Filipe VI of Spain. Unfortunately, “Fr.” Jake of the Palmarians communed with the Devil, the CIA, and Mike Pence to prevent the universal peace we all yearn for. May he burn in hell with his Satanic masters.

Saint Peter’s on March 25th: the Metaphysical Significance of an Event

The importance of consecrating Russia as desired by Mary at Fatima is of the utmost metaphysical importance.

 by Roberto de Mattei

The news is official and of the utmost importance.  On March 25, 2022, Pope Francis has consecrated Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.  As confirmed by the head of the Press Office of the Holy See, Matteo Bruni, the Pope "invited bishops from all over the world and their priests to pray with him for peace and to consecrate and entrust Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary".  On March 22, the Holy See published the text of the Consecration.

In Fatima, on July 13, 1917, Our Lady announced that God was preparing "to punish the world for its crimes, through war, famine and persecution of the Church and the Holy Father".  In order to avoid this calamity, Our Lady asked for the Pope to consecrate Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary in conjunction with all the bishops of the world and to propagate the practice of the first Saturdays of the month, consisting of five consecutive Saturdays with  to unite her, to confess and communicate, to contemplate and pray the Holy Rosary for fifteen minutes.  “If My requests are accepted,” said Our Lady, “Russia will be converted and have peace;  if not, it will spread its errors throughout the world and encourage wars and persecutions of the Church.  The good will be martyred, the Holy Father will suffer greatly, various nations will be destroyed.  Eventually, My Immaculate Heart will triumph."

After the apparitions of Fatima in 1917 there were various acts of consecration and entrustment to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, but all were partial and incomplete, although not without effect, so that as early as 1931 the Lord spoke to Sister Lucy about the failure of the  Consecration of Russia, lamenting: "They would not listen to my request!  Like the King of France, they will repent, and they will, but it will be too late.  Russia will already have spread its errors all over the world and will bring wars and persecutions to the Church: the Holy Father will have to suffer a lot”.

In his radio message to Portugal on October 31, 1942, Pius XII.  consecrated the Church and humanity to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.  On July 7, 1952, Pope Pacelli himself consecrated all the peoples of Russia to the Mother of God in the apostolic exhortation Sacro Vergente Anno.  Russia was expressly mentioned, but the solemn union with the Catholic bishops of the whole world was lacking.  The ecumenical Second Vatican Council would have been an extraordinary opportunity to fulfill Our Lady's request.  In 1965, 510 archbishops and bishops from 78 countries signed a petition asking the pope, in agreement with the Council Fathers, to consecrate the whole world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, especially Russia and other communist-ruled nations.  Paul VI  however, did not comply with this request.

After being badly wounded in an assassination attempt on May 13, 1981, John Paul II attributed his miraculous protection to Our Lady of Fatima and made a pilgrimage to her Shrine on May 13, 1982, where he entrusted to Our Lady “those people and peoples and  consecrated those who are particularly in need of this entrustment and consecration.” He repeated a similar dedication on March 25, 1984 in St. Peter's Square in the presence of the statue of Mary brought from Portugal.  The Pope had written to the world's bishops asking them to join him, but not all have received the invitation and few have responded.  On this occasion, too, Russia was not expressly mentioned, but only "the peoples whose consecration and entrustment you expect from us" was mentioned.

A third act of entrusting the Church and humanity to the Virgin Mary was proclaimed by John Paul on October 8, 2000 in front of the statue of Our Lady of Fatima in the presence of more than 1500 bishops representing the episcopacy.  Benedict XVI  had the Third Secret of Fatima published (the text of which is considered by many to be incomplete) and on May 12, 2010, kneeling before the image of Our Lady in the Chapel of the Apparitions of Fatima, raised a prayer of trust in Her, in which he  Liberation asked "from every danger that hovers over us".

On October 13, 2013, Pope Francis pronounced the words of entrustment to Our Lady in St. Peter's Square.  However, the consecration of Russia that many had been waiting for did not materialize.

On May 13, 2017, Pope Francis traveled to Fatima for the canonization of the two shepherd children Francisco and Jacinta, who died at the age of 9 and 11 and in 1917, together with their cousin Lucia dos Santos, also a child, saw and had heard the words of Our Lady.  The beatification process of Lucia, who died in 2005, is in progress.  But even in this case, the pope ignored the prayers of the Blessed Mother.

Today, the international scene has changed dramatically, and Pope Francis has decided to do something none of his predecessors have ever done.  From 1917 to 2022, nine popes have known Fatima, and all after Benedict XV.  have approved her worship.  Six of them have visited the shrine, either as popes or as cardinals.  Some of them, like Pius XII.  and John Paul II, have shown great reverence for the 1917 apparitions.  But so far none of them has fulfilled the urgent requests of the Blessed Mother.  The act that Pope Francis will carry out on March 25 seems to respond to these requests and will be accompanied by an unprecedented gathering of bishops, priests and lay people.  The meaning of the event is not geopolitical, but metaphysical and supernatural, because it seems to be one of those moments when the mystery of history seems to open and the light of God illuminates world events beyond the intentions of its protagonists.  This is happening while Russia's bombing threatens to spread from Kyiv to the whole world.

Traditional Rite Codified for the First time in the Constitution by the Roman Curia

"AMAZEMENT" AMONG JOURNALISTS ACCREDITED TO THE HOLY SEE

March 22, 2022

Yesterday was the presentation of the new Constitution of the Roman Curia, which had already been published last Saturday, much to the annoyance of accredited journalists.

(Rome) The Association of Journalists Accredited to the Holy See expressed their "amazement" at the manner in which the Apostolic Constitution Praedicate Evangelium "on the Roman Curia and its service to the Church in the world" was published.

The association complained that the new constitution was promulgated "without prior notice".

The new constitution regulates the work of the Roman Curia. It will come into force next June 5th, Whit Sunday. Up until now, Pope John Paul II's Apostolic Constitution Pastor Bonus from 1988 has been in force. The new constitution Praedicate Evangelium will replace the previous one in June. The new constitution incorporates a number of changes made by Pope Francis over the past nine years.

Traditional Rite Anchored in the New Constitution

For the first time, the traditional form of the Roman Rite, and thus indirectly tradition, was codified in a constitution of the Roman Curia. Specifically, this happened in Article 93, which regulates the tasks of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments:

"Art. 93 The Dicastery is concerned with the regulation and discipline of the sacred liturgy as regards the use, according to the norms in force, of the liturgical books of the period before the reform of the Second Vatican Council.”

The previous Constitution, Pastor Bonus contained no such codification. It was promulgated by John Paul on June 28, 1988, while the establishment of the Pontifical Commission Ecclesia Dei by the motu proprio of the same name did not take place until four days later, on July 2, 1988. It showed that the granting of Ecclesia Dei was improvised on the one hand due to the events (consecration of bishops by Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre on June 30th, which the Pope did not allow) and that the Holy See at the same time had not yet wanted to commit to anchoring the traditional Rite in the Constitution for the Roman Curia.

This is what Pope Francis did now, almost 34 years later, at a moment when he was severely affecting tradition, the traditional Rite and the communities connected to it with the motu proprio Traditionis Custodes. In Traditionis Custodes he determined the transfer of responsibilities to the Congregation of Worship, which are enshrined in the new constitution. The English Archbishop Arthur Roche, who is openly hostile to the traditional Rite, leads the congregation as Prefect.

In the original version, which had already been published on Saturday, the "extraordinary form of the Roman Rite" was expressly mentioned, as Pope Benedict XVI. in the Motu Proprio Summorum Pontificum of 2007.

"Art. 93 The Dicastery deals with the regulation and discipline of the sacred liturgy in relation to the extraordinary form of the Roman Rite.”

The existence of such an extraordinary form is denied by Pope Francis with the motu poprio Traditionis Custodes. The new constitution was thus in open contradiction to Traditionis Custodes. On Monday, therefore, Article 93 was amended by Msgr. Marco Mellino, the secretary of the Council of Cardinals, who advises Francis on curial reform. The unofficial reason given was that a typographical error had to be corrected. An official notification that a change has been made has not yet been made. In Monday's press conference, Monsignor Mellino stated:

"In the Editio Typica, which will be the original and fundamental text, you will find the wording as it is. Also because of the whole question of the Society of Peter. We have to find the best formulation so that everything is well taken into account".

The first version of March 19 and the corrected version of March 22 on the Holy See website. On the other hand, there is no specific reference to the institutes of tradition, the so-called former Ecclesia Dei communities, in the articles of the new Constitution which regulate the work of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and for Societies of Apostolic Life. With Traditionis Custodes, Pope Francis had transfered all competences not related to the liturgy for the former Ecclesia Dei communities of the Congregation of  Religious.  It follows that the communities of tradition are treated in the same way as any other religious community. The top leadership of this congregation, under the leadership of Cardinal João Bráz de Aviz, is also not considered to be tradition-friendly.

Excitement among the Vaticanists

The excitement among the Vaticanists is understandable: Yesterday (March 22nd) the press conference to present the new Apostolic Constitution took place. Loup Besmond, a correspondent for La Croix, was the first journalist to address it, and expressed the "surprise" of the Association of Journalists Accredited by the Holy See at the communication policy of the Holy See. The press conference on a document that had already been published on Saturday and took place on Monday. The publication took place without prior notice and only in Italian. Normally, the Vatican documents are made available to journalists in advance but are subject to a blocking period. This gives journalists the opportunity to prepare themselves, read the document and possibly translate parts before they are supposed to report on it at the time of publication.

Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni, director of the Vatican press office, justified the unusual procedure with reference to the "reason of state" and the feast of St. Joseph, which the Church celebrated last Saturday. This is an important date for Pope Francis, Bruni said, as it marks the anniversary of his pontificate.

Of course, this is not an explanation for the actions of the Vatican press office.

A number of journalists took to Twitter to echo Besmond's expression of astonishment to send a signal of disapproval.

Young Catholics Respond to Modernist Church in Germany

Young traditional Catholics respond with a video to those in the Church who "can no longer endure sound teaching"
.

The homosexualization of the Church is part of the vociferous agenda of the pink purple ideologues who have seized control of the church in Germany.  Sin crying out to heaven is to be raised to the altars.  The coming out of 125 employees and dignitaries of the Catholic Church a few weeks ago shows where the journey with the synodal path should go.  A group of traditional young Catholics from Certamen Germany have created a video in response to this outing.  They write about it:

"In times of crisis, sacred tradition remains the infallible rule of faith, the criterion for distinguishing the Catholic from the non-Catholic" (Roberto de Mattei).  Many Catholics, especially the German bishops and most of their clergy, seem to have forgotten this healthy rule.  Instead of renewing the Church from within through its tradition, they escalate their reform intentions into ever more absurd fantasies, which ultimately only result in one thing: the apostasy from the Catholic faith and thus the destruction of the Catholic Church.

We traditional Catholics want to counter this doomed reform attitude, which seems to find its climax on the synodal path in Germany:

 - We do not want any other Church than that founded by our Lord Jesus Christ.

 - We want priests who are aware of the dignity of their ordination and of their associated mission.

 - We love the old Mass because it focuses on God and not on people.

 - We want to convert the world to the Catholic faith and not adapt the Catholic Church to the world.

 - We rely on what the great holy Pope Pius X was once convinced of: "The true friends of the people are neither reformers nor innovators, but the traditionalists."

Ukraine on Fire

Pornhub Suspended in Russia! Rejoice!

The effects of what may become World War III, apparently, are not all bad. Consider that a Russian Orthodox priest recently preached this to his flock:

We lived among the Satanic chimera, you didn’t know that? Have you noticed the air has become cleaner to breathe…Pugacheva has left Russia forever—Lord, I’ve waited for this! Pornhub is closed for Russian users—Western civilization is turned off to us. Jesus, how hard did we need to pray before, for it to be closed earlier! We can’t go to Eurovision—I’ve prayed that we’re never allowed there ever again! I never want to see women with mustaches and men with breasts—never! Not even in a dream or in passing on a billboard! They’ve closed it all to us—this is it, boastful, stinky, cursed at its roosts and through their guts; it is cursed! It’s a world about profit, lies, and bloodshed!

Strange, isn't it, that most of this could come from a second-wave feminist and Marxist condemning capitalism?

Traditiones Custodes: The Hermeneutic of Arbitrariness

On February 4, Pope Francis received two priests from the Society of St. Peter who were able to express their concerns about the implementation of Traditionis Custodes. On February 11, he granted the Society of St. Peter a special decree on Traditionis Custodes.

Argentine blogger Wanderer, “ a traditional Catholic in unity with Rome,” has been running the Caminante-Wanderer blog for many years. A few days ago he published a hermeneutics of arbitrariness. In it, he tries to give a slightly different interpretation to the decree for the Society of St. Peter, with which Pope Francis largely freed this Ecclesia Dei community from the yoke of the Motu proprio Traditionis Custodes, and to draw attention to some aspects that, in his view, have not been sufficiently addressed so far have received attention.

Hermeneutic of Arbitrariness

by Wanderer

The Decree of February 11, by which Pope Francis authorized the Society of St. Peter (FSSP) and with it, it seems, the other Ecclesia Dei Institutes to use the surviving liturgical books, including the Roman Pontifical, has triggered countless comments. Few of us expected such a measure, and it came as a surprise, especially to those who claim that the pontiff was possessed of a particular hatred of the traditional liturgy. Traditions Custodes was certainly bad news and seemed to confirm this assumption: Francis is attempting to suppress the traditional liturgy and, by forbidding the use of the Roman Pontifical before liturgical reform, effectively condemns the traditionalists to extinction or to relying on one or the other to join the Society of Saint Pius in any other way, which would result in the “resignation” from the Church.

In this blog, however, we have always maintained that Pope Francis is neither a traditionalist nor a progressive on liturgical matters. He's a Jesuit, maybe the best Jesuit who ever lived, and as such he doesn't care about the liturgy. He does not understand them, for a purely practical mind is unable to understand the worship offered to God for its own sake. He is interested in politics and pastoral action. The rest is incomprehensible to him. The decree favoring the Society of Peter confirms this hypothesis.

The surprise has led many observers to speak of a kind of papal "schizophrenia": the pope issues a motu proprio fatal to the traditional liturgy and shortly thereafter opens the floodgates for a sizeable group of traditionalists to continue celebrating their Latin Masses as they want. And we must not forget that the authorization granted to the Society of St. Peter is not the first, that of the motu proprio deviates from what he himself had proclaimed. In addition to several granted by him on a personal level, and despite intense pressure, he has granted others that are public. For example, in St. Peter's Basilica, where even the rite of Paul VI. cannot be celebrated privately, according to Traditions Custodes, two solemn masses are celebrated in the traditional Rite.

The possible papal "schizophrenia" is not the only explanation for the decree. I propose the following hermeneutical keys to the papal contradiction:

1. We all know how good Pope Francis is with the language of gestures, for better or for worse. Suffice it to recall, for example, the grim and sullen face with which he can be seen in photos with Donald Trump or Mauricio Macri. With the priests of the Society of St. Peter, on the other hand, he shows a smiling and satisfied face, which suggests that the conversation took place in the best conditions and that he felt comfortable with them, and this is one of the traditionalist groups, considered the most rigid, as you can imagine.

2. The conversation is said to have lasted an hour, which is a very long time for a papal audience granted to two priests who hold important positions within the Society of St. Peter but are not its supreme authority. Perhaps a reader more knowledgeable than I can tell us whether Pope Francis frequently receives Superiors General of religious orders and congregations and, if so, how long these audiences last.

3. It is known, because it has also been published, that the origin of the audience was a letter that some priests of the Society of St. Peter sent to the Pope expressing their concern about the consequences of Traditions Custodes, and in response to the letter they were summoned to Rome to meet with the Holy Father. And I believe that the initiative for such a privilege came directly from the pope and not from a secretary of the papal household. No halfway skilled and loyal subordinate would put his superior in an embarrassing and compromising situation. Everyone knew it was a touchy and thorny subject. This fact and the two points mentioned above suggest that the Holy Father has no particular aversion to the traditional liturgy. If that were the case, it would be easy for him, plain and simple, to apply Traditions Custodes to demand what he has every right in the world to do. Or, as is his habit, he would avoid any interviews or meetings where he expects a confrontation. It should be remembered that Francis practically suspended the consistories at which cardinals and other Roman prelates meet with the pope to discuss ecclesiastical matters. Bergoglio, as Bishop of Buenos Aires, has always avoided confrontations and therefore avoids granting audiences or going to places where he foresees a difficult situation. I know a number of people who have asked for a personal audience with the Pope and have not even received an answer. The Priests of the Society of Peter were summoned to Santa Marta by Pope Francis to discuss the motu proprio.

4. To what extent can Traditiones Custodes be considered as a Franciscan manifesto against the traditional liturgy? This is certainly the first and simplest reading, but the facts on which we are commenting allow for other interpretations that were not possible until recently. Let's look at some facts:

a. The motu proprio comes from the office of Archbishop Arthur Roche and his staff. This English Archbishop was appointed by Benedict XVI. as Secretary of the Congregation for Divine Worship and is not a liturgist, which suggests that all his liturgical knowledge and consequent bungling is the fruit of the express training he received from Andrea Grillo, and this is no exaggeration as illustrated: The text of Traditiones Custodes repeats almost verbatim many paragraphs from articles and other writings that Grillo has been publishing for at least fifteen years ( here, here and here ), and the principles on which it is based are exactly the same ones propagated by this Bolognese liturgist since Pope Ratzinger promulgated the Summorum Pontificum. In short, Traditiones Custodes was not written or conceived by Bergoglio; he merely signed what others wrote for him.

b. I don't mean to say that Bergoglio didn't know what he was doing. He knew that very well. For years he was under constant pressure from the Italian bishops, who were alarmed at the growth of the traditionalist movement and, above all, at the strong sympathy among young priests for the traditional Mass. And the Pope did not want to have any problem with the Italian bishops, especially in the midst of the excesses that he committed and still commits himself in that episcopacy (suffice it to say the recent appointment of the new Archbishop of Turin). And he gave in to the pressure.

c. Bergoglio was also aware of the American bishops' functional sympathy for conservative and traditionalist positions. Bergoglian hostility towards Americans deepened after the shocking incident of the American Bishops' Conference virtually flouting papal wishes regarding Biden and the admission of pro-abortion politicians to Communion. To obstruct the traditional Mass would be to anger Americans, which, being a good Peronist, he abhors, all the more so when it threatens his power.

5. Several traditionalist websites rightly argue that the permission given to the Society of St. Peter is an "indult" and can therefore be revoked at any time, which would prove the malice and duplicity of Francis. It is true that it is a gesture of mercy, but we should keep a few points in mind:

a. For Bergoglio, everything is a gesture of grace, even canon law. He made several reforms to the code just a few weeks ago. The only thing he hasn't changed is the Scriptures. We cannot expect him to proclaim a universal law.

b. It should be remembered that for decades the only way to celebrate the traditional Mass was by indult and that there had to be a “schism” for it to be granted. According to some scholars,  Benedict XVI's authorization given in Summorum Pontificum is also an indult. The curious thing is that with both the indults of John Paul II and Pope Ratzinger, a long time must have passed and/or extraordinary events must have taken place. The indult to the Society of St. Peter was granted immediately after an audience.

c. What other legal form was possible besides an indult? Only one: the abolition of the Missal of Paul VI, which is the only "ordinary" form of celebration of the Latin Rite. We can't expect that much.

i.e. Many believe that the Indult is a very fragile legal form and that its days are numbered. We recall, however, that this is not always the case: the Crusade Bull is an indult that has been, or is still, valid for more than eight centuries, and we traditionalist Spaniards rely on it to eat meat on Fridays. Or Communion in the hand is an indult that still applies and is unlikely to be abolished.

6. It is also said that the papal decree insists on Traditions Custodes in the last paragraph and I think this is one of the most interesting and positive aspects of the situation. There it is suggested ( suadet ) that as far as possible ( quantum fieri potest ) this motu proprio should be carefully considered ( sedulo cogitetur ) . It's something minimal, remarkably minimal. The priests of the Society of Peter are not even obliged to read Traditionis Custodes . They are just suggested to think about it, if possible.

7. It is also said that the indult was not published and is therefore of dubious validity. However, it should be noted that this is not a law that comes into force upon its publication in the country's official gazette. It is permission given to a specific group within the Church. One could make a long list of indults that have never been published and yet whose validity has not been compromised. For example, the so-called "Agatha Christie Indult," which makes it possible for the traditional Mass to continue to be celebrated in the United Kingdom under certain circumstances.

I think that the above facts lead to the conclusion that for Pope Francis, Traditions Custodes is a document of political rather than liturgical significance, while for Archbishop Roche and his collaborators in the Congregation for Divine Worship it is an eminently liturgical measure with a clear intention to destroy the traditional liturgy. Consequently, and paradoxically as it may seem, Pope Francis is our main or only advocate on liturgical questions, for whatever reason.

Precisely for this reason, it makes sense to reconsider the strategy of groups and analysts from the traditional world who, after the publication of the motu proprio, devoted themselves to the violent attacks on Francis, even committing incomprehensible mistakes, the consequences of which we are all feeling. The priests of the Society of St. Peter have shown us a path that has led to the goal.

But what is the goal we are striving for? To protect as much as possible the position that Pope Benedict XVI. has won for the traditional liturgy, to preserve it as much as possible, or to make a name for oneself with constant attacks on the Holy Father for what he does or does not do on liturgical questions? If it is the first option, we should be cautious and meek, which does not mean that we remain silent in the face of the devastation the Argentine Pope is wreaking on the Church. But it means having clear goals in mind and using the necessary common sense.

Jewish Educator Accuses People Opposed to Adults Grooming Children of Being Nazis

Edit: the Life News article fails to name him.

[Life News]  A sex education advocate said parents opposed to the presence of “sex books” in their children’s schools are often part of “organized white supremacist groups” in a mid March webinar titled “The P Word: Porn Literacy and Sex Education.”

Self-described “sex educator” and author Cory Silverberg said parents who are responsible for “attacks on teachers and librarians” and advocacy for “book banning” are not “regular, everyday people” on the panel.

Silverberg also expressed doubt many opposed to “sex books” in school are, in fact, parents. “Actually, a lot of it is organized white supremacist groups,” Silverberg said.

Pope to Consecrate Russia and Ukraine to Immaculate Heart of Mary

 Tue Mar 15, 2022 - 1:01 pm EDT

VATICAN CITY (LifeSiteNews) — Pope Francis will consecrate Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, the Vatican announced on Tuesday, following an appeal made by the Ukrainian Catholic bishops.

In an announcement released March 15, Matteo Bruni, the director of the Holy See Press Office announced:

On Friday 25 March, during the Celebration of Penance at which he will preside at 17.00 in Saint Peter’s Basilica, Pope Francis will consecrate Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The same act, on the same day, will be carried out in Fatima by His Eminence Cardinal Krajewski, Apostolic Almoner, as envoy of the Holy Father.

March 25 is the feast of the Annunciation. No further details were provided about the consecration, but the message was repeated on the Pope’s official Twitter account. LifeSiteNews has contacted the Holy See Press Office for further information.

“True Freedom Demands Justice” — The Ukrainian Conflict and the Church

We continue to publish articles on the Ukraine conflict in order to give space to different opinions and to shed light on as many aspects as possible.  Today we publish a letter from the sociologist Pietro De Marco* to the Vaticanist Sandro Magister.

 Dear Magister,

I request your hospitality for some considerations prompted by the ongoing war in Ukraine.  The news horizon and the proliferation of chronicles and reflections on the pages of the media indicate duplicity, rather dystonia.  On the one hand there is the conflict with its facts: the acts of war and the political decisions about the present and future of the entire European area.  On the other hand, the demonstrations, prayers, moral and political declarations for peace.  Demonstrations and prayers that speak of war in its truth, without ever touching it or considering it as such;  eyes are on the suffering, on the migrants, on peace.

The duality would be an invariable complementarity if in the compassionate or peace-seeker there was also a rational engagement with the conflict, an instance of judgment of merit, and finally a non-dualistic positioning between good and evil.

To say: “There is war, long live peace” is, in my opinion, tantamount to moving in an exclusive “rationality by values” and ignoring the necessary “rationality by goals”.  Because of this indifference to outcomes that are not absolute (the peace that flourishes), everything can be heard in the squares, to the point of the absence of any judgment or the reverberating "Anything, as long as we stop fighting".  And there is also too much playfulness.  There are young people, but also adults, women and men, who seem to live more in the comedies of Aristophanes ("There are too many hormones in this matter," we heard exclaimed on TV, "If women were in power...  ’) than to meditate on Herodotus.

Today, in view of the history of peoples, the “peacemakers” can no longer hide behind the veil of their horror at hatred and bloodshed, nor under that of a love of neighbor that disregards everything.  In this order of reality which is the conflict that is taking place, the less gracious virtue of justice must dominate.  Less gracious, because justice in relations between peoples, if granted at all, must be justified: its judgment must have consequences.  And these will, and already do, coincide with the mechanics of war, since they concern it: weapons and means made available to the weaker party to fight, penalties for the aggressor to injure him on multiple levels and  certainly causing distress, as well as symmetrical threats to intimidate him.  In the end, one side will inevitably give way (or give up terrain with losses).

If the words of peace do not see this chain of necessary facts realistically aimed at ending the conflict, if they consider it abstractly to be an evil not worth examining iuxta propria principia, they condemn themselves of it. And these self-satisfied words are pecked away by the sparrows.

It is not war in general, but this or that war determines the place of decision.  Prayer, the most intense and theologically conscious, is necessary and undoubtedly pleasing to God, but it falls within the inscrutable realm of His will.  Or are we as a Church tempted to use prayer as an "excuse" not to take a stand and not work in and on this war?  We would not succumb to this temptation if we had retained the ability to think about events in terms of a theology of history.  Instead, the dominant theologies are antithetical to Paul, hostile to Augustine, they would mock Bossuet or de Maistre.  They flirt with the philosophies, but even Hegel's heretical, but very high theology of history is alien to them.  They think small or utopian, and utopia is the product of emotional ethics.

What am I getting at?  "War is therefore an act of violence to force the enemy to do our will," is one of Clausewitz's well-known definitions.  Turning away the Christian distinction of war as such, and saying no to evade the careful scrutiny of an event that will go far beyond the evils and sufferings of the moment, is not just a mistake.  It's running away from a responsibility.

Nothing relieves the Catholic Church of this responsibility.  The Holy See, a spiritual power but a power nonetheless, has so far moved tentatively, as if walking between prayer - with the Pope admirably acting, but acting as an individual rather than the human head of the Church - and passed over action, the actions of others.  I have followed with great interest the distant years of Giorgio La Pira's international political activity (Cuba Crisis, Vietnam), which may not have been very fruitful, but which was a bearer of reason, analysis and the ability to influence.

We know that the famous "Divisions of the Pope" are just the worldwide Catholic people.  But offering the Vatican as a place of encounter and negotiation does not mean turning the Ukraine conflict into a mystical place.  The Holy See will only mediate if it has the power and authority to do so;  if, for example, in the play of the moral, religious and political forces in the world it can say: The Catholic Church, whether in agreement with the Orthodox Churches or not, can neither accept nor endure the present showdown which consciously and according to a clear plan consciously deny  the  decisive freedoms, the large nations in new self-determination, which the world and all churches gained with the collapse of the USSR.  The collapse of the Soviet system was wanted by its own people, it is in a way a world historical fact that one would like to know is irreversible.

The Catholic Church, as Holy See, has the power, if it wishes, to oblige Catholics in conscience not to provide any alibi or scope (moral, ideological, political) to the project of a neo-imperial Russia, and thereby to put an end to the unwise pro-Putin New Constantine Catholic positions.  That means, having said that, to contribute with all your strength as an expert on humanity and as a sister of the Orthodox churches to ensure that peace negotiations can be carried out over a limited area (guarantees, possible border corrections) and not politically and religiously retrospectively (no return based on history of large European areas under the arbitrary rule of an autocrat).

There is no sign of this or any similar determination on the part of the Holy See.  It is to be hoped that the difficulties Rome has had to date in raising its declarations to the level of the Catholic Church's international standing are due to caution in seriously investigating the situation and the open questions, and not to recognizing that there meanwhile, it has disbanded its worldwide moral army and retired its special forces, those capable of realistic judgment.  Among them, the Society of Jesus once stood out.  History will do without them.

Two "little notes" from Sandro Magister

Two small remarks on the activity of the Church in this war.  The first concerns the ban on the word "war" in Russia, which has been replaced by "military operation".  At the Angelus on Sunday, March 6, Pope Francis responded explicitly: "This is not just a military operation, but a war that sows death, destruction and misery".  Andrea Tornielli, editor-in-chief of the Holy See's communications department, wrote on the front page of the Osservatore Romano that "Pope Francis has rejected the 'fake news' that seeks to present events with verbal subterfuges to cover up the gruesome reality of the facts."

But one only has to go back a few days to see that the Holy See itself, in its first official statement — issued on February 24 by Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin — after the Russian aggression, or, as the document puts it, “after  resorting to these “verbal subterfuges” after the start of Russian military operations on Ukrainian territory”.

The second comment concerns the proposal of the Community of Sant'Egidio, and in particular its founder Andrea Riccardi, to make Kyiv an "open city".  The declared aim is to “avoid armed conflict, house-to-house and street-to-street fighting” because “Kyiv is the Jerusalem of Russian Orthodoxy and thus of Belarusian, Russian and Ukrainian Orthodoxy.  It must not become Aleppo.”

Few know, however, that an "open city" is technically a city which, by express agreement of the conflicting parties, can be occupied by the enemy, in this case Russia, without resistance.

And some hints

So much for Magister's comments, to which a few notes should be added:

 1

Riccardi apparently recognizes the all-Russian commonality that has been expressed in the title by the head of the Church, originally sent by the Patriarch of Constantinople, since Christianization in the 10th century.  For the first 300 years, this had its seat in Kyiv, the capital of the still unified Rus, and was metropolitan, later patriarch of “all Rus”.

Relevant: The advance of the Central Powers (German Reich, Austria-Hungary etc. until March 1918 (dark green line)

 2

The conquests of the Mongols led to a divergence in the late High Middle Ages, because the liberation struggle against the Mongols was carried out on the one hand by the self-liberating northern Rus, especially Moscow, and on the other hand by the Kingdom of Poland and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.  Two catholic powers.  This laid the foundation for today's linguistic, but above all cultural and religious division of the country.

 3

When it comes to the question of who bears responsibility for a war, what matters is not only who fired the first shot, but above all what happened before the shot was fired.  Historical science will pursue this question one day, away from the general public.  In fact, the winner writes history.

4

Those who advocate a unitary state of Ukraine, which in its extent was a more accidental product of the turmoil of the end of World War I (see map above), run the risk, willfully or criminally, of misjudging Ukraine's complex reality.  Depending on your point of view, this consists of two parts (Ukrainian West, Russian East) or three parts (Russian East Ukraine, Orthodox West Ukraine, Catholic West Ukraine).  A statehood can be established and justified for each part.  One of the serious mistakes that led to the current war is that these facts have been ignored in recent years and the Kiev government has been encouraged in this by the West.  There are a number of possible and suitable instruments for a peaceful solution: partitioning the country, transforming it into a confederation of states, transforming it into a federal state with strong internal ethnic and religious guarantees, to name just three.  A fair division, as history teaches, would often have been the better solution and would have prevented millions of suffering, war, death and displacement.  However, most states, including Brussels, have declared border changes an idolatrous taboo.

What does that mean?  One example among many: If Austria and Prussia had recognized and guaranteed ethnic relations in 1848 based on the Swiss model, or had organized some crown lands and provinces according to ethnic criteria - even while maintaining the historical borders - the ethnic struggles that later broke out would have been defused from the outset and the the tragedies of exile and expulsion of the 20th century would probably have never materialized.

The maximalism of the strongest doesn’t merely entail tragedies to come, but also tragedies for them, because today's strongest can soon become the weaker.

Brave Puerto Rican Bishop Fired by Arbitrary and Unjust Bergoglian Dictate

Bishop Daniel Fernández Torres, Puerto Rico's bravest bishop, was removed from office by Pope Francis as a "troublemaker".

(Rome) Bishop Daniel Fernández Torres of Arecibo, the only bishop in Puerto Rico who opposed vaccine apartheid, was retired by Pope Francis at the age of just 57.

Monsignor Daniel Fernández Torres was born in Chicago to a Puerto Rican family but grew up in Puerto Rico.  In 1995 he was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Arecibo.  He studied dogmatics at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome and then worked in his Caribbean home as a pastor and from 2000 as regent of the seminary of Arecibo.  In 2007 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him  Auxiliary Bishop of San Juan de Puerto Rico and, in 2010, at the age of 46, Bishop of Arecibo.

As such, he attracted attention in 2020 when he took on left-leaning US Territory Governor Pedro Pierluisi and urged him to stop the gender agenda being promoted by the Biden administration.

The second conflict with Pierluisi has followed since August 2021, when the governor of Puerto Rico imposed compulsory vaccination against Covid-19.  Bishop Fernández then made it clear that there would be no vaccination apartheid in the church areas in his diocese.  The bishop recognized the right of conscientious objection to compulsory vaccination and gave his priests and deacons permission to grant exemptions to Catholic parishioners.

The bishop was the first pastor to be confronted with compulsory vaccination and made it clear that in his diocese there would be no division of the faithful and no segregation, i.e. discrimination, of healthy people.

However, he was left alone with that.  The other five bishops of the Caribbean island shortly thereafter issued a decree with “pastoral guidelines” on behalf of the Puerto Rican bishops' conference, with which they instituted vaccination apartheid.  The unvaccinated may only take part in the liturgy in separately designated parts of the church.  The five bishops justified their decision with reference to "contagions and outbreaks,” although the SARS-CoV-2 virus koof or Covid-19 did not differ in any noticeable way from other seasonal flu waves.  Above all, they emphasized that the new guidelines should be issued in order to show “solidarity” with Pope Francis.  Francis had introduced compulsory vaccination in the Vatican and described "vaccination", which is in fact a gene therapy, as a "moral obligation".  The bishops did not say that they were actually kneeling before the Pierluisi government.  Priests and deacons who have not been able to present proof of vaccination by September 15 are no longer allowed to celebrate the holy liturgy in public.

Bishop Fernández refused to sign the guidelines.  Rather, he made it clear that he would not tolerate this segregation of believers in his diocese.  In doing so, he courageously stood alone against the Church's first apartheid regime of the 21st century.

Today, half a year after the beginning of the apartheid regime, Bishop Fernández was retired by Pope Francis, although the bishop of Arecibo is only 57 years old.  The background is quickly explained.  Bishop Fernández disrupted the "good relations" with the government and the consensus in the bishops' conference with his courageous stance on the Corona issue.

Other reasons are given behind closed doors and in some media in Puerto Rico as to why Bishop Fernández became a nuisance to his confreres.  He openly and bluntly addressed the problem of pederastic priests and publicly criticized them.  He also refused to use the believers' money to pay off the debts of the Archdiocese of San Juan.

In keeping with his nature, the deposed bishop was not silent about his removal.  He had a final press release published through the press office of his previous diocese, confirming the rumors that had been circulating before.  The bishop quotes from an unspecified document in which the reason for his dismissal was given:

"I have not been obedient to the Pope, nor have I been in sufficient fellowship with my brothers, the Bishops of Puerto Rico."

 Bishop Fernández writes:

“In response to what is happening, I feel blessed to suffer persecution and slander (cf. Mt 5:10-11) for proclaiming the truth about human dignity in the present circumstances where 'it is uncomfortable:  It is contrary to what we do...' (Wisdom 2:12).  Today I can hold my head high, and even though I'm imperfect and a sinner, I know I did the right thing, and that gives me great inner peace.  I am also comforted by the Hebrew meaning of the name Daniel that I received at my baptism: 'God is my judge'.

I am very sorry that in the Church, where so much is preached about mercy, in practice, some people do not have even the slightest sense of justice.  One day the Apostolic Delegate simply told me by word of mouth that Rome was asking me to resign.  A successor to the apostles is now replaced without proper canonical procedure for his removal.

I was informed that I had not committed a crime, but that I had allegedly 'not been obedient to the Pope and had insufficient fellowship with my fellow bishops in Puerto Rico'.  It was suggested to me that when I resign from the diocese I would remain available to the Church if I was needed in another position;  an offer that proves my innocence indeed.  However, I did not resign because I did not want to become an accomplice in a totally unjust process that I am reluctant to see in our church.”

As the Vatican Press Office announced, Pope Francis appointed Msgr. Álvaro Corrada del Río SJ, Bishop Emeritus of Mayagüez, Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Arecibo ad nutum Sanctae Sedis.
