Catholic Pastor Bans Harry Potter in His School

[CBS News] A Catholic school in Nashville, Tennessee has banned the "Harry Potter" series because a reverend at the school claims the books include both good and evil magic, as well as spells, which, if read by a human can conjure "evil spirits," according to the Tennessean.
The publication obtained an email from Rev. Dan Reehil, a pastor at Saint Edwards Catholic School parish, which was sent to parents. "These books present magic as both good and evil, which is not true, but in fact a clever deception," Rev. Reehil said of the seven-part "Harry Potter" book series.
"The curses and spells used in the books are actual curses and spells; which when read by a human being risk conjuring evil spirits into the presence of the person reading the text," the email continues.

I have always suspected such and wondered if this was not just a clever way to seduce the young. J.K. Rowling, the woman author, was extremely clever. I found various references on Pope John Paul II. Some stated that he approved and others said that he did not. I did find a reference where Pope Benedict warned of subtle seductions contained in the novels.-----Now as for the "current occupant", I am quite sure that he doesn't care one way or the other. He is so busy setting up his gay agenda with Cupich and the bois that this is a subject well outside his circle of Marxist thought.---Now if Rasputin was involved, he could very well have an opinion. After all, Rasputin was a major influence in bringing down the Romanovs. He had deep links to the occult that Sosa and his Jesuit buddy don't believe exist.

What's in your spinach, Popeye?

Father Reehil sounds like a truly worthy pastor. Kudos to him for taking those dangers seriously and shielding his charges from them. It might behoove us to go to his parish and school sites to express support for him, for I am sure that he is being lambasted for his actions. A good word to his bishop might also help.

I’m beginning to think Rasputin was a scapegoat.

Good points JBQ. Sosa and Bergoglio (that’s Antipope Francis to you, pw Powderpuff) like most members of the Homosexual Network Strangling the Church, lie shamelessly, in the immortal words of Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò. Denying the devil’s existence is about the oldest trick in his playbook.

Likewise, when Bergoglio says “There is no Hell,” don’t believe him and more important don’t believe that he believes what he’s saying.

If you were a false pope hellbent on leading as many people into Hell as possible, wouldn’t you deny there’s a Hell?

PW said...

Congratulations on finally outing yourself as a full blown schismatic, BwvverWolf.
You can now enjoy the spiritual ties with the deceased Lefebvre who died outside the Church.

BrotherBeowulf said...

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Not for one nanosecond has George the Mad Bergoglio, Antipope Francis, the ‘pope’ of Stang, been the true Vicar of Christ on earth.

Further he’s the head of the Homosexual Network Strangling the Church as his friendship with McCarrick & Mnsgr. GianBaptista Ricca, Paglia, Coccopalmieri, Don Mercedes Inzoli, and dozens of other prominent predator boy-rapist priests—including among the current new crop of so-called cardinals Mendonça and Zuppi—shows.

Antipope Francis himself as said he would go down in history as the pope (sic) who schisms the Church.

Our Lady the destroyer of all heresies will eventually end this madness. So it has been ordained since the beginning. The Immaculate Heart shall triumph. The Queen of Heaven reigns and shall reign.

BrotherBeowulf said...

God bless Fr. Reehil. It takes courage to go against the culture. And bear in mind Francis himself has oft indicated a penchant for the demonic, presiding at Mass with a devil-stick—the Stang—at the youth synod last October.

Not only does he falsely deny the existence of Hell and the immortality of the soul. Not only does he support the sodomfolk everywhere—“God made you that way” and “loves you that way (too!)”—and impose them on the Church. He actually has signaled his true allegiance by wielding a Stang at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

People need to realize and declare—this man is no pope.

In one post, the narcissist troll, flamboyabriell decries what he says are ad hominem attacks, almost immediately in the next post, he proceeds to claim he knows someone is mentally ill and insincerely essays to advise them on a course of action.

This reminds me of the way dissidents were treated in the Soviet Union, which is no doubt his model of wise government as it is Bergoglio’s.

How do you know +Lefebvre died outside the Church? Were you there? No. Neither was I.

+Lefebvre died on the Feast of the Annunciation 1991 and received the last Sacraments. And if you consider the time difference between Switzerland and Jerusalem, he died about the hour when the Incarnation occurred - which is extremely appropriate considering the fact that he was devoted to Our Lady.

If you have any Christian charity, at least pray for the repose of his soul.

Tancred said...

@Guest Gabriel suffers from pride, especially where he arrogated upon himself knowledge he doesn’t actually possess. It’s what happens when you scorn Thomism.

Another slow day in Schismsville, eh boys?

Tancred said...

If the Orthodox are OK...

PW said...

The mutual excommunications have been lifted for decades. Remember Paul VI and Archbishop Athenagoras? By comparison, Lefebvre died excommunicate, outside the Church.

Guest said...

So if the "mutual excommunications have been lifted for decades", then why did 2 Orthodox prelates "beg" Pope Francis to give up the Catholic Faith and become Orthodox? Why don't they pray for him in the liturgy?

Most of all, it's still forbidden to "communio in sacris" with the Orthodox and they do the same thing.

So what was the benefit of lifting the excommunications in 1964?

And if +Lefebvre died outside the Church, then I have a bridge in Brooklyn I'd like to sell you.

Tancred, I hope you will post brief and long defenses of the SSPX over the next dozen months. The SSPX is getting far more sympathy than it did in the past and the chance to bring in new people is rising dramatically.

Anonymous said...

That was me, Dirk, just now. -Dirk

Tancred said...

I have always promoted the SSPX in the past.

They provide a harbor of solemnity and the depths of the faith to be contrasted with the homespun listlessness and indifference of the NO.

PW said...

Don't adjust your mind, Guest. There's a fault in reality.

Tancred said...

Never mind those double-standards, Gaybe.

Anonymous said...

Thanks Tancred. Not being sarcastic. Please write up anew a defense of the SSPX's position on things like religious liberty and ecumenism. Could help those motivated by Michael Matt's recent article on uniting the clans to switch to the SSPX.

Tancred said...

Is Mike still kind of hostile to the Society?

Anonymous said...

Again, that's me, Dirk.

Anonymous said...

Mundabor has just now "come out" as supporting the SSPX. People new to the debate (there are probably lots) would benefit. -Dirk

Tancred said...

Mundabor has always been pro-SSPX.

Anonymous said...

I didn't realize that. He has done a pretty good job of hiding it, probably because of the fact that if his blog became known the British thought police would convict him of hurting somebody's fweewings. -Dirk

Tancred said...

He was widely criticized by lots of pansies for defending the SSPX funeral Mass and burial of an SS Captain, Erich Priebke. So yeah, he’s always been pretty up front about it.

Anonymous said...

As in, the Nazis? Wow. That certainly complicates his reputation. I cannot agree with that.

Anonymous said...

Does that make me a pansy? -Dirk

Tancred said...

So you’d deny a man Christian burial because he had an unpopular political opinion?

Anonymous said...

Tancred, the man fought in the SS! Do we know if the Nazi was repentent?

Tancred said...

Oh dear, how will I sleep tonight!

Anonymous said...

Don't you think the Nazis murdered six million Catholics? They attacked the Soviet Union with no provocation. Don't the Nazis deserve to be condemned?

Tancred said...

I think we should all be talking about the 6 Gorillion.

Anonymous said...

Am I woke? I don't know what I should think, but it seems to me that people in the Nazi army should confess it to their confessor! I support patriarchy and traditional monarchy, plus a free market! What am I doing wrong? -Dirk

PW said...

You're very confused. That's what you are, Dirk. However, you are right about the Nazi crimes against humanity. The offspring of the perpetrators are still at it, no longer using gas chambers but 'the media' to do their work of social mass destruction.

Barnum said...

Some of these Nazis, Gaybriel, no doubt became vestment-loving Modernists along with the German Bishops and died repentant and in the good graces of the Church, unlike Abp. Lefebvre.

Comments? (Not shrieks, comments)

Barnum said...

Guest,

Gaybriel doesn't believe that there is a life after death.

Tancred said...

The founder of Spiegel was a Lieutenant in the SS. Not sure if he was Catholic, but some of the leading lights in the abortion industry in Austria were also National Socialists.

PW said...

Still on that lousy batch of Moonshine, Barnum. You are still not a well person, are you?

Tancred said...

Gaybrielle shrieking intensifies.

That was me again, Dirk.

Sorry, Tancred, but don't you think it was wrong to fight in the Nazi army? Just an honest question. I cannot imagine fighting for the Nazis, even if the Soviets were staring me in the face in east Germany. -Dirk

I’m sure your male relatives who fought Germany in the 40s are glad they made the sacrifice now that we have mandatory degeneracy and you-know-whos running our foreign policy and tossing people in prison or ruining their lives because of thought crimes.

Also, THEY, didn’t run the Catholic Church in the 30s like THEY did after the war. You can’t offend them, or they’ll take away your Gig... or worse.

Anonymous said...

I have a direct male ancestor who served against the Nazis. I'm not for mandatory degeneracy. I know Peter Watson can be pretty hostile to you, but I'm your friend. I just don't understand why the Nazis had anything to be said for them in WWII. Hitler was a vegan, but so what? I wouldn't have respected him no matter what he ate. The Nazis had a lot of homosexual party members. Do you think the Nazis started unjust wars against Poland, France, USSR, etc? I do. I guess you mean homosexuals when you say "they". What did WWII have to do with homosexuals? I've never heard any of that. I don't know from which country you are writing. -Dirk

PW said...

Dirk, never get yourself caught between a few of these turkeys and a good conspiracy theory. They dine out on this kind of stuff.

Discourse in the comments' section here is bizarre considering it is a Catholic blog. There is Mr. Watson, with whom nobody agrees, and who seems to be wildly out of place here; there is our honorable host; and then, there is me. Such diversity of opinion is strange considering we should all be part of the Bride of Christ.

Anonymous said...

That was me, Dirk. Bahrain fought the Nazis, and probably so did Arabs, if only in few numbers. Not everybody who fought them were flappers, faggots, and commies.

Anonymous said...

I guess you answered the question, Tancred. I understand your concerns. Take care.

That was me, Dirk. Sorry.

It seems to me that Hitler was a monster who set back decent monarchists, of whom he was not one, of course, many decades.

Idk, Finland got a better deal with Hitler than he would have gotten from Stalin.

The Ukrainians, Hungarians, Balts, Balkans all had good reason to oppose Jewish Bolshevism. Like the USA, they tried to choose allies who best suited their real political situation.

Anonymous said...

I don't understand what Judaism has to do with Bolshevism. I'm not sure I want to know, either.

If Finland had been in Hitler's way the way Poland was, it too would have been raped by the Nazis, just like Poland and the Baltics were. Finland was lucky the Soviets were too busy killing Germans. On the other hand, the term "Molotov cocktail" came from the Soviet assault on Finland. Molotov declared in its course that Soviet bombers were dropping food, not bombs, so the Finns prepared Molotov cocktails, "some drink to go with the food."
Last time I checked, mass murder was low class, whether orchestrated from above, like Hitler did, or below, like Roe vs Wade. Ergo, Hitler was low class. It is ridiculous for him to be considered anything other than a monster by Catholics.

Tancred said...

The Baltic states regarded the Germans as liberators, as did many Ukrainian and the opportunity to serve in the German Army was a wildly popular option.

Poland held German territory, and was regarded as an obstacle to Germany’s eventual confrontation with the Soviet Union. Finland on the other hand was a key for its nickel mining...and a German ally. Why would one attack an ally?

Hitler was bourgeois and his artistic aspirations were not without merit, although a gas attack ruined his eyesight and his artistic career in the post-war, and not something I’d associate with the “lower classes”. Moreover, Hitler was very popular with aristocrats who thought he was very charming.

Anyway, whatever they thought of Hitler, many Catholics were exhorted to serve in the Wehrmacht by their bishops. I know you claim to speak for the Church but things were a lot more complicated than your cartoonish ideas.
