Pope Francis: "Whoever is Critical of Fiducia Supplicans is an Ideologue" -- He Doesn't Fear Schism

Pope Francis wants to go "forward" despite the opposition to Fiducia supplicans and does not want to take the objections into account.

(Rome) Once again, Pope Francis defended the declaration Fiducia supplicans of the Roman Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, which introduces gay blessings. It is Francis' second defense in a matter of days. This time it happened in the context of an interview.

The controversial declaration, which has met with resistance in the Church worldwide, was issued on December 18 with the explicit approval of Francis. Responsible for this is his ghostwriter and favorite protégé Victor Manuel Fernández, whom he has helped to a storybook career since 2009. And of whom the Argentine Bergoglian Sr. Lucia Caram declared on Spanish television that he himself was "gay".

First of all, however, Francis has so far officially commented on Fiducia supplicans. This was last Friday, in an address he gave to the members of the Dicastery for the Faith, headed by Cardinal Fernández.

Yesterday, Monday, the Turin daily La Stampa published an interview with Francis. True, the main headline is dedicated to the Middle East conflict, with the Pope calling for the implementation of the two-state solution. Fiducia supplicans, the most radical document of the moral revolution of his pontificate, immediately follows as the second part of the main headline. And that with a fierce announcement:

"They are attacking me because of the gay couples, but I don't fear a schism."

Francis prefers the path of the "informal magisterium" by giving interviews to friendly media. Almost without exception, these are secular media outlets that are willingly and supportively open to him. This time it was the turn of La Stampa, whose long-time Vatican correspondent Andrea Tornielli was Francis' house and court Vaticanist in the first part of the Argentine pontificate and is now editor-in-chief of all Vatican media.

Criticism has to be endured, Francis said, but it only comes from small "groups" that are also "ideologically" motivated. Two side blows with the heavy hardwood club. The Pope implicitly claims the Holy Spirit for the controversial Roman declaration. He also affirmed that black Africans have a cultural problem, as they still reject homosexuality, while the rest of the world no longer has a problem with it. But he hoped that everything would "gradually" subside. It is therefore only a matter of time before the paradigm shift in the recognition of homosexuality becomes universally accepted.

Francis' statements are not only about what he says and how he says it, but also about the omissions, about what he does not say, about what he is silent about. This includes, above all, his notorious "No, Yes, Yes", a message that the world to which he prefers to address, the secular media understands very well, even and above all those parts that remain unspoken.

Francis, on the other hand, does not fear a schism. In his answer, it is necessary to include an earlier statement when, on December 23, 2016, he let it be known internally that it was "not impossible" that he would go down in history as "the one who divided the Catholic Church." But, as he now let the world know, this did not impress him. In other words, he wouldn't care, because the schismatics, since he is the Pope, are by definition always the others, and ideologues what's more.

Here is the translation of the parts of the interview concerning Fiducia supplicans:

La Stampa: Last summer, in Lisbon, in front of millions of young people, you emphatically declared that the Church is for "everyone, everyone, everyone": is it the great challenge of your pontificate to open the Church to all?

Pope Francis: This is the reading key of Jesus. Christ calls everyone in. All. There is a parable of his own: the parable of the wedding to which no one appears, and then the king sends the servants "to the crossroads, and everyone whom you find, you call to the wedding feast." The Son of God wants to make it clear that he does not want a chosen group, an elite. So maybe someone will "smuggle himself in", but at that moment it is God who takes care of him, who shows him the way. When I am asked, "But can these people, who are in such an inadequate moral situation, go in?" I say, "All of them, says the Lord." I've been asked questions like this especially lately, after some of my decisions...

La Stampa: In particular, the blessing of "irregular and same-sex couples"....

Pope Francis: I am asked how this is possible. I answer: The Gospel is there to sanctify everyone. Provided, of course, that there is goodwill. It is necessary to give precise instructions for the Christian life – I emphasize that it is not the union that is blessed, but the persons. But we are all sinners: so why make a list of sinners who can be in the church and a list of sinners who can't be in the church? This is not the Gospel.

La Stampa: In the much-publicized television interview with Fabio Fazio on the programme Che Tempo Che Fa, you spoke about the price of loneliness that one has to pay after such a step: how do you live with the battle cry of those who rise up against it?

Pope Francis: Those who protest vehemently belong to small ideological groups. Africans are a special case: for them, homosexuality is culturally "ugly". They do not tolerate them. But in general, I hope that everyone will gradually be reassured by the spirit of the Dicastery of the Doctrine of the Faith's declaration Fiducia supplican: it wants to include, not exclude. It invites us to welcome people and to entrust ourselves to God.

La Stampa: Do you suffer from loneliness?

Pope Francis: Solitude is as changeable as spring: in this and that season it can be a beautiful day, with sunshine, blue skies and a pleasant breeze; 24 hours later, the weather may be dark. We all experience loneliness. If you say, "I don't know what loneliness is," you're missing something. When I feel lonely, I pray above all. And if I perceive tensions in my environment, I calmly try to start a dialogue and discussion. But in any case, I'm always moving forward, day by day.

La Stampa: Are you afraid of a schism?

Pope Francis: No. In the Church there have always been small groups of schismatic reflections... You have to let them have their way, let them pass... and look ahead.

Francis teaching about informal blessing to people who are in one or other canonical or moral irregular situations has now gained the support of the South African episcopal conference who note that every diocesan bishop must take responsibility in discerning the needs of his people in the application of Fiducia Supplicans. They are joined by a significant number of other episcopal conferences:

“Like the Southern African conference, the Maghreb region’s bishops on Jan. 23 announced that they had also departed from SECAM’s position. After their plenary session, the bishops of Algeria, Libya, Morocco, Tunisia and Western Sahara said:

“When people in an irregular situation come together to ask for a blessing, it may be given provided this does not cause confusion for them or for others.”

The ‘Folare’ group, led by Tucker, have likewise thrown their support behind Fiducia Supplicans. Well done, African bishops. Well done, Tucker.

"But we are all sinners: so why make a list of sinners who can be in the church and a list of sinners who can't be in the church? This is not the Gospel."

The Gospel (beginning with St. John the Baptist: "Repent!") has always been that one must renounce sin and put on the new man: the baptismal/wedding garment. "And behold one came and said to him: Good master, what good shall I do that I may have life everlasting? Who said to him...if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments...Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness. Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself." Matthew 19

In the parable Francis cites, the servants of God invite men to the wedding feast of the Lamb (i.e. preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to them) and provide them with wedding garments (Baptism/sign of wanting to become the new man) when they accept the invitation to lead a life of grace. If men come into the Church by lying about renouncing sin/putting on the new man their sin is hidden and the onus is on them. But if men are invited to put on a wedding garment (baptism), when they flat out reject the commandments of God and have no intention of living a Christian life (for whatever reason as it says in the parable), their offense to God is obvious to all and how they were invited to participate in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass or eat the Body and Blood of the Lamb falls on the bad servants. When God asks these men how they came to be here they don't need to remain silent, but say: your servants (FRANCIS, JPII, PAUL VI, BENEDICT XVI) told me I didn't have to put on the wedding garment (renounce sin/put on the new man), believe in You, turn away from sin. They told me they preferred to think hell was empty. They hid the crucifix so I wouldn't notice what Your justice did to Your only begotten Son. They raved about 'social justice' which meant no death penalty for criminals (abortionists, euthanizers, murderers, thieves, pedophiles, sodomites, adulterers). They told me You did not die for MY sins, but simply instituted a love feast before You were accidentally put to death by their forebears--those priests and pharisees who flat out FORBADE healing men on the Sabbath (i.e. healing men is not the work of the servants of God).

VCII is a new Gospel, a counter syllabus. Perhaps it will reach its nadir when adulterer Charles III, defender of "faith," is welcomed as head of the Anglicans into VCII church. St. John the Baptist was wrong to preach to Herodias and Herod; Francis labels him an 'idealogue'--but not so Jesus Christ (what did you go out into the desert to see?).

We all know there was substantial change to the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and yet so many justify attending the new mass or both masses interchangeably when Francis, Benedict XVI and John Paul II said they allow it only to end it. Confirmation and ordination in the pre-VCII rite are forbidden because of SUBSTANTIAL change.

"However, even in these parishes it is not permitted to use the Roman Pontificale for confirmation or ordination. The reason for the prohibition regarding confirmation is that this sacrament was modified by Pope Saint Paul VI and, therefore, it is not held opportune to resort to the abolished rite, given that it underwent SUBSTANTIAL changes."

https://www.americamagazine.org/faith/2021/12/18/vatican-clarifies-rules-latin-mass-242091

The question is why so many self-called Catholics have not yet gone out into the desert to see John the Baptist but continue to worship with the anti-Christ--lying, false prophets who want to put Him to death. And continually seek to explain and justify these murderers of Christ and their own accompaniment of them.

The response to 'Fiducia Supplicans' that dumbfounds and neuters the moral relativists and culture warriors comes from the bishops in overwhelmingly Moslem societies where gays, people living together as de facto couples and everything in between, risk not only social ostracism, mob violence even death. The cited article above has this to say:

'After their plenary session, the bishops of Algeria, Libya, Morocco, Tunisia and Western Sahara said:

“When people in an irregular situation come together to ask for a blessing, it may be given provided this does not cause confusion for them or for others.” '

Go learn something worthwhile from that, lads.

I don't think there is such a thing as an 'informal blessing', whether or not it is intended for persons who are in a relationship or personal circumstances constituting moral or canonical 'irregularity'. Individuals seeking to live according to God's laws and in accordance with Church doctrine may be given a blessing. Unrepentant sinners should neither request nor be given a blessing. Properly (sacramentally) married spouses may be given a blessing. Whether the blessing is done properly, with the correct words conveying the full intent and meaning of the blessing, is another question. A blessing must be valid and efficacious, or it is not a blessing at all.

At least twice a year, Christmas and Easter, the Pope gives a formal blessing 'Urbi et Orbi' - to the City (Rome) and to the world, that's every living being on earth. None are asked to go to confession beforehand and pray for the intentions of the Holy Father. It's a formal blessing of God on everyone, Christian or not with no conditions.

Since the Church does not presume to place legal or moral limits on the benevolence of God, on what basis could any individuals or groups condemn Francis for continuing the Traditional practice of the Church and imitating the generosity of God?

Anonymous said...

The Pope's duty is to protect the deposit of faith and not to scandalise the faithful. A personal blessing given to a cohabiting same sex couple or an opposite sex couple will inevitably be viewed by the general public as the Catholic Church's endorsement of what are sinful relationships. A general Papal blessing 'to the city and the world' is of a different kind and no one is scandalised by that. The issue with blessings of cohabiting couples of the same or opposite sex is that these relationships are intrinsically sinful and sodomitic activists in particular want their relationships validated and endorsed by the Church to win support in the broader community. These relationships can never receive a valid blessing.

While Tucker and follower trudge down the path of distortion, grubby dishonesty and infantile rationalization, the Pope is transparently open and doctrinally authoritative in laying out the authentic teaching of the Church and its grounding in the Gospel. That Tucker and the cohort of the crap ignorant arc up and fulminate is no surprise. He's a career fiddler with the truth. That's a mark of the Uber Recht,

While addressing members of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, Pope Francis spoke about three themes—sacraments, dignity, and faith—the pope exhorted the dicastery’s leaders to defend people’s dignity and seek pastoral conversion as the focus of their work “guarding the faith.”:

“In this context of evangelization I also mention the recent Declaration Fiducia supplicans. The intent of the ‘pastoral and spontaneous blessings’ is to concretely show the closeness of the Lord and the Church to all those who, finding themselves in different situations, ask for help to carry forward – sometimes to begin – a journey of faith. I would like to briefly underline two things: the first is that these blessings, outside of any liturgical context and form, do not require moral perfection to be received; the second, that when a couple spontaneously approaches to ask for it, the union is not blessed, but simply the people who have requested it together. Not the union, but the people, naturally taking into account the context, the sensitivities, the places in which one lives and the most suitable ways to do so.”

"Go study Aristotle on the transcendental universals: goodness, truth and beauty, then do something utterly new to you, read what Jesus Christ had to say about who is one's neighbor."

Where did Jesus bless the robbers who left the man in a ditch half dead?

This is what He said to the apostles: And into what city soever you enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you And heal the sick that are therein, and say to them: The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you. 10 But into whatsoever city you enter, and they receive you not, going forth into the streets thereof, say: Even the very dust of your city that cleaveth to us, we wipe off against you. Yet know this, that the kingdom of God is at hand. I say to you, it shall be more tolerable at that day for Sodom, than for that city. Woe to thee...He that heareth you, heareth me; and he that despiseth you, despiseth me; and he that despiseth me, despiseth him that sent me. Luke 10

Same is in Matthew 10: "And into whatsoever city or town you shall enter, inquire who in it is worthy, and there abide till you go thence. And when you come into the house, salute it, saying: Peace be to this house. And if that house be worthy, your peace shall come upon it; but if it be not worthy, your peace shall return to you. And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words: going forth out of that house or city shake off the dust from your feet. Amen I say to you, it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city."

Woe is a curse not a blessing. And what a curse/woe is VCII--turning every Christian country into Sodom and Gomorrha. It is the anti gospel of the anti Christ. Surely sinners can come to priests and receive instruction in the faith--but it is only when they repent and make restitution that they are 'blessed' (as in blessed are the poor in spirit): "he sought to see Jesus who he was, and he could not for the crowd, because he was low of stature. And running before, he climbed up into a sycamore tree, that he might see him; for he was to pass that way. And when Jesus was come to the place, looking up, he saw him, and said to him: Zacheus, make haste and come down; for this day I must abide in thy house. And he made haste and came down; and received him with joy. And when all saw it, they murmured, saying, that he was gone to be a guest with a man that was a sinner. But Zacheus standing, said to the Lord: Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have wronged any man of any thing, I restore him fourfold. Jesus said to him: This day is salvation come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham. For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost." Luke 19

"My husband Damian and I were blessed by Outreach editor James Martin, S.J., earlier this week. Just a day after the Vatican announced that priests could offer “the gift of blessing that flows from the Heart of Christ through his Church,” we sought out Father Martin, who is a friend, mentor, ally and pastor. The New York Times was there to capture the moment."
https://outreach.faith/2023/12/as-a-married-gay-catholic-just-blessed-by-a-catholic-priest-i-welcome-the-churchs-openness/

This is not spontaneous blessing for those seeking help--with the New York Times on hand to capture the event. It is a travesty. Demon possessed James Martin should be defrocked and yet demon possessed Francis has singled him out for special favors and will not reprimand him for this either. Anyone going along with this or attempting to justify it deserves the fate of Sodom and Gomorrah. How many angels have you rejected who tried to lead you out?

"Go study Aristotle on the transcendental universals: goodness, truth and beauty, then do something utterly new to you, read what Jesus Christ had to say about who is one's neighbor."

Jesus said nothing to Herod (Luke 23:9), but He praised St. John the Baptist (Matthew 11:11) who preached to Herod and Herodias that their union was against the law and was imprisoned and then beheaded by them. The priests, scribes and pharisees were all Jesus' neighbors, but he said "WOE" to them many times:

https://bible.org/illustration/names-jesus-called-scribes-and-pharisees

St. Paul also showed what the Catholic Church policy is on those of the brethren who fall into irregular unions/habitual sin.

"It is absolutely heard, that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as the like is not among the heathens; that one should have his father's wife. 2 And you are puffed up; and have not rather mourned, that he might be taken away from among you, that hath done this deed. 3 I indeed, absent in body, but present in spirit, have already judged, as though I were present, him that hath so done, 4 In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, you being gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus; 5 To deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

6 Your glorying is not good. Know you not that a little leaven corrupteth the whole lump? 7 Purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new paste, as you are unleavened. For Christ our pasch is sacrificed. 8 Therefore let us feast, not with the old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. 9 I wrote to you in an epistle, not to keep company with fornicators. 10 I mean not with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or the extortioners, or the servers of idols; otherwise you must needs go out of this world.

11 But now I have written to you, not to keep company, if any man that is named a brother, be a fornicator, or covetous, or a server of idols, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner: with such a one, not so much as to eat. 12 For what have I to do to judge them that are without? Do not you judge them that are within? 13 For them that are without, God will judge. Put away the evil one from among yourselves. 1 Corinthians 5

https://www.drbo.org/chapter/53005.htm

Francis and James Martin are not putting away the evil ones, they're blessing them and welcoming them into their field hospital for sinners where they make them more and more evil and more and more offensive to God: "As a married gay Catholic just blessed by a Catholic priest, I welcome the church’s openness"

God is my help, MC. He created me and He loves me, the same as He did and does you. He has given us both life and the free will to use it on this earth for good or for evil. However, these earthly lives are finite, the terminus is not within our knowledge, and He is watching us to make a determination as to whether we will spend eternity with Him in heaven or be cast outside where the worm never dies and the fire is never quenched (Mark 9:48), where there is unending weeping and gnashing of teeth (Luke 13:48).

Please remember your idle words here (Matthew 12:36-37). Remember how you called good, evil and evil, good (Isaiah 5:20). Remember how you broadcast this bad seed and said you did it in the name of Jesus Christ--because God has recorded it and credited it to the account you will render Him. You can explain to Him why you believed and broadcast the new gospel of the new order of John 23, Paul 6, JP2 and B16 and their disciples Francis and James Martin and rejected the tradition and scripture handed down by Sts.
