MSNBC et Christ Mathews Locuta Causa Finita

Edit: doncha just love it when people who are Catholic purely for social and cultural reasons suddenly remember they're Catholic and declare themselves as experts in all things Catholic when there's an axe to grind?

[Catholicism.org] Chris Matthews has just published a book on Robert Kennedy, Bobby Kennedy: A Raging Spirit (Simon & Schuster), which he is promoting vigorously. Among the numerous interviews he has given (many to his colleagues at MSNBC), the one with Al Sharpton, embedded below, has come to our attention for its mention of Father Leonard Feeney.
Around the 6:14 mark, Matthews makes a fleeting mention of Father Feeney as an example of someone that had, early on, roused “raging spirit” of Bobby Kennedy.
The mention of Father Feeney is limited to these words, which I have transcribed as faithfully as possible:
When that priest, Father Feeney, in the 40’s… late 40’s… was saying “no salvation outside the Catholic Church, everybody else is going to hell,” Bobby wrote a letter to the paper, fought the … fought the Cardinal over it. His mother thought he was going to get excommunicated over it, and then the priest got excommunicated.

Rose Kennedy was quite a mother. Her husband was a philanderer. Look what she did with the four boys. The sons had moral issues but it was not from any lack of concern from the mother who was an obvious saint.---Look at the Catholic mothers of today. Is it any wonder that the sons are either gay or sexual predators? When you have a "culture of death" as preached by John Paul II with unlimited abortion, then you have a society begging for retribution. Francis is totally responsible for the implosion of the Catholic faith.---I expect to wake up some morning with the news that ISIS has taken Rome well within the context of the Third Secret and that Francis met his fate.

ROBERT KENNEDY ASKED RICHARD CUSHING TO SUPPRESS FR.LEONARD FEENEY

That appears to be logical in light of the article. The profligate life lived by Teddy would be another sign. A third sign would be the praising of Teddy by O'Malley at his funeral. At the time, no one and I mean no one except Rose believed the story on Mary Jo and the bridge at Chappaquiddick.

JBQ, From whence have you received your invalid information concerning the "sons [who] are either gay or sexual predators"? And where has pope St. John Paul II preached :unlimited abortion"? Also, you have some inside information of the Third Secret of Fatima. Again, where does this all come from? May I suggest you implore the Holy Spirit to enlighten you because what you are writing is "fake news". And please cease spreading sandal.

Scandal is the name of this website; scandalizing the faith daily. What protestant reading this site would ever convert to the the Catholic Faith?? It's like most of the people here took lessons from Martin Luther on how to bash the Faith.

Yeah! Who would ever convert to the conciliar religion when all this site does is remind people about the Catholic Church?

-By the way, Tancred, what time are today's lessons on how to bash the Faith of the novus ordo?

I'm just exposing the human garbage who exploit credulous people on behalf of evil government concerns.

@Bill: Pope John Paul II's stock phrase was "culture of death" which was caused by "unlimited abortion". Many abortionist women of today, the leaders in the field, are fallen away Catholic. Because they do not have strong male Christian male role models, 'many' sons become either sexual predators like the Kennedys or gay of the ilk of Fr. James Martin.--Many issues regarding the Third Secret are explored proficiently in the prolific writings of the Rev. Malachi Martin who read the entire secret and was sworn to secrecy.

By 'culture of death', JP II was referring to the NRA, the Catholic League, the SSPX and the Remnant among many others

It's truly amazing how the Irish politicians in America do the bidding of, shall we say, "the other?" And other "ethnic," i.e. Catholic, politicians can be said to be trying to equal the their willingness to do the bidding of "the other." Am I wrong?

Barnum said...

Did I mention priests? I was at "anticipated" Mass in suburban Indiana this evening. All has come full circle: A 70-something priest accreted various protracted blessings for parishioners; some "accretions" are accretions, others, if invented by those born in the 40's, aren't. Please, O Holy Ghost, let Gaybriel guide you and us to discern the validity.

Carliel,

Name the speech or the encyclical. Or at least ask Coco to do so, and share your "academic integrity with us."

But share no social diseases please, especially not the exotic ones or the ones requiring gallons of bleach on the sidewalks of SoCal. The "generosity" of you and yours leaves a bit to be desired, for instance, a Catholic understanding, decency, and public health.

Just saw something about "Charismaniacs" on another website. Fits geographically, and timewise. BTW, the chili in this part of the country is almost good, but note near as good in more northerly parts.

Barnum said...

Meant "not," not "note" Unlike the Gaybriels of this world, and the netherworld, I am not perfect, strive as I might.

Carlitra, there have to be so many more beneficial uses of your time.

Catholic Mass went from being something immovable, deep rooted and authoritative in the mid-sixties, to being something that didn't admit any certainties, and seemed to delight at its impermanence, chaos and childishness. If I expressed my dismay, that was my problem, not the Presbyter who was shacking up with his girlfriend until he retired.

No denial from Dr.Robert Fastiggi or the Society of St.Pius X : all agree invisible people are not visible exceptions to extra ecclesiam nulla salus

There is no denial from Dr.Robert Fastiggi or the Society of St.Pius X(SSPX).They agree that possibilities cannot be actual and known people, visible exceptions to the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus (EENS) in 2017.For them hypothetical and unknown cases of people saved with the baptism of desire(BOD), baptism of blood(BOB) and invincible ignorance(I.I) cannot be personally known people in the present times.
The SSPX bishops and priests and the liberal professors at the Sacred Major Seminary, Detroit agree that we cannot meet or see any one in November 2017 saved with BOD, BOB or I.I.

They agree that there are no cases of the baptism of desire, with or without, the baptism of water, known to us .These are 'zero cases' as the apologist John Martignoni put it.
I have been e-mailing them. Neither the SSPX bishops or the liberal priests and professors are saying that they know of someone saved outside the Church, during their life time.
They may hope that there are such people, and they pray for relatives and friends but none of them can know of any particular person who is in Heaven without 'faith and baptism'(AG 7).

It is the same with the traditionalists Slaves of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the sedevacantists in the USA.We all have unity on this one point-invisible people are not visible. There are no known cases this year of invisible BOD, BOB and I.I being visible.-Lionel Andrades

EENS is a dogma of the visible Roman Catholic Church on Earth and as catholic we cannot say otherwise, even if we disagree in our deep self, because those who openly contradict a dogma are excommunicated ipso facto, latae.
sententiae
It is not our business to say whether peoples of other religions may be saved or damned, it is only God's business, not ours, though in my deep self I know that a lot of non catholic people will be saved.
But it would be utterly uncharitable to say them so: On the contrary, this would provide them the best reason for being comforted to remain forever in their (false) religion with no possibility to convert.

George said...

Lionel, what's your point? Whether visible or invisible, if there are souls that are saved without water baptism, then water baptism is not absolutely necessary for salvation, and Fr. Feeney was wrong, end of argument.

Here's the way I see it. People can be saved by BOB and BOD, if they die before receiving baptism. This, however, never actually occurs, because it is the will of God that all of His elect be united to the Mystical Body of His Son by the waters of baptism. Therefore, all of those who would be saved by BOB or BOD were they to die without baptism, by divine providence, actually receive it.

No good?

Lionel gets the air time and the patronage because Tancred and his disciple are hard wired to the whole idea of the self-selecting, cozy determinism of Feeneyism.
Nothing of this nonsense has anything remotely to do with God, Jesus Christ, his Gospel or the mystery of salvation. It has a lot to do with the twisted idea of who is 'in' and who is 'out' in the courts of the now decapitated European royalty. The meanings and the loyalties are to be found in that bizarre cosmos.

Barnum, a most astute observation. Frankly, I don't know what it will take to knock the Jews off the pedestal that some Catholics and other Christians have put them on. They seem to be mesmerized by them in an almost Svengali type spell. Now hear this: the Jews are not a collective messiah and they can be held accountable for their actions. Yes, they do have agency.

JBQ said...

@Carl J: So, now "it all depends on what the meaning of 'is' is"?

Tancred said...

George, such peolle don't exist. Have you proven they do? If not....

Tancred said...

If you're right, any claims to be Catholic is just donuts and coffee in the back of a cozy hippie church with a congregational interior space, cushy chairs, somewhere in the western world where such increasingly elderly We Are Church people gather.

Carl J said...

No, any claim to being Catholic is validated by professing the Creed not to the elitist ideologies of the courts of the Bourbons, Hapsburgs, Windsors, Hapsburgs, Romanovs just for starters.
