Reflections on Kappelmeister Ratzinger from a former Student
Choirs of the kind the Pope's brother teaches are very demanding and perhaps unfamiliar to those outside of Europe. Practice lasts often as much as 6 hours a day, and the highest standards of persona comportment and virtuosity are enforced. The boys work hard because they look forward to the choir trips where they are stay with guest families to far away places. It is a scene of comradery, discipline and great fun.
Severe -- Sometimes very Severe
"Like a grandfather to his grandchildren, he blessed us with the wondrous world of musical life, and most of us understood, that we had one of the best teachers anyone could want."
[Kreuz.net] On March 9th, the Bavarian musician and publicist Tobias Weber (43) on his Blog 'Musica in tempore' told of his experiences at the Regensberg Cathedral Choir under Prelate George Ratzinger.
Weber is a former member of the Cathedral School and current director of the 'Tobias Weber Musk & Buch Verlages' in Hofkirchen. He has been closely connected to the Cathedral School for 33 years.
A Commander's Address
"Sometimes under the Cathedral Choir Master things were very strict -- sometimes even very strict.
Weber reports that his first choir practice at the Cathedral School in January 198. The Kappelmeistr began with a "Commander's Address":
"For a choir which wants to have and hold a certain acme, there is only a on conceivable system of government: the unrestricted dictatorship of the choir leaders" - the Prelate explained.
Weber comments: "The authority of the "chief" in musical interests was inviolable for us, everyone subordinated himself to his wishes."
But Prelate Ratzinger never had to maintain authority by doubtful means:
"However, some schoolmates had their confrontations with him, which was also not discrete: mostly such, which discipline was not indiscernable from his view of the good of the choir."
If the reliabillity of the character of a singer was not certinly free of doubs with Prelate Ratzinger, even good singers were not permitted on concert journeys:
"He did not like exposing his singers in concerts or guest families because they lacked character or decorum," he says.
Beloved -- nearly like a Grandpa
But outside of the concert hall or musical obligations there was still another Prelate Ratzinger:
"And we - at least most of us - have this 'sense' that we loved him nearly like a Grandpa".
Before practie small groups of singers pushed themselves before the conductor's stand, to snatch up a gumdrop or a cookie, always available and generously distributed.
He always attached importance to respectful address, "schoolboy insolences like, 'Hey chief', "were heard sometimes, but surreptitiously." -Weber writes.
Prelate Ratzinger had an unpretentious friendliness and had an ear for each request.
"If the singers, voiced by either boy or adult, during or after practice he was ever ready, despite his stressed authority, to establish guidelines to deal with constructive proposals."
Weber betrays the secret of the success of the clergyman: "without the mutual cordial affection between us singers and our Cathedral Kapellmeister, the great expeiriences of these years woud not have been possible."
And: "Like a grandfather, he bequethed to us grandchildren a miracle of words of the musical life, and it was clear to most of us that we had one of the best teachers, whom anyone could imagine."
For one respected - for the other one loved.
Weber reflects on the Prelate since early childhood also personaly:
"And brilliantly he told humourous anecdotes from the treasurehouse of his imagination, and the deep love of music and of "his" Cathedral Choir always came through, which in turn shaped its life."
However, he admitted once that one year as a director of such a boys choir's training counts at least as three years with its physical and mental demand as three normal years of life.
Weber's time with the Cathdral Choir was summed up by severity and discipline in the Choir and simultaneously of the great humanity and warmheartedness of the Chathedral Kappelmeister:
"For the one we obeyed and respected, while the other we loved - and the majority of his former students respect and love him even still today."

The Twisted Agenda of the Girl Scouts

In Defense of the Catholic Clergy (Or Do We Want Another Reign of Terror?) -- Politics Daily
Reflection on a Great Article Relating to Americanism and Jacobinism
Some "commentators" like to mention that the American Revolution was less violent, particularly toward the Church, owing perhaps to some idea that the principles enshrined in the American Constitution guarantee "Liberty". We have a different view in the US about these things regarding our own history, preferring to remark upon our inevitable steps of progress from Republic to Empire in the 19th Century and our present "desirable" situation, we tend to forget (or never knew about) the slaughter of Catholic Indians and Mexicans during the Mexican-American War, and of course, we forget the slaughter of fellow Americans which also took place in the revolutionary furor launched by a man who has a stronger resemblance to Joseph Stalin, Oliver Cromwell and Fidel Castro, than he does to the mythical and paternal Abraham Lincoln.
If the American Government didn't massacre any Catholics in the wake of its revolution as the French did, it is only because they didn't have many to slaughter; there was still plenty of time for the United States to accomplish that as it finally did in the Spanish-American and Mexican-American wars, which were as bloody and full of anti-Catholicism as would please any erstwhile Jacobin of the French Revolution allied to Robespierre on the march to the Vendee.
All the same, we pray for a country which at least permits its Bishops to be Catholic without too much meddling. So few American Bishops have been worthy of imitation, but there is still time for our present Bishops to mend their ways and abolish the Americanism which they continue to foment and promote at the expense of souls which must surely go to Hell without the benefit of the Sacraments. Really, what we need are more saints and fewer bank managers and episcopal salesmen.

Damian Thompson Catches Media in yet another Deception
Not only is the media's malice evident in this story that they intended upon misrepresenting this story before it came out, but the malice of other individuals in professional victim organizations is in evidence as well in the Irish people's supposed response to the letter. Damian Thompson has caught them in their game of deceit.
The terrible truth about this is that the only source for healing which will come of this is from the fullness of the Sacraments and stories like this will further create enmity between the people of Ireland and the Church which has been with them since the 4th Century.

This morning, before the Pope’s pastoral letter on Irish child abuse was published, and apparently before reporters from The Times had read a single word of it, the paper ran a story by Richard Owen and David Sharrock which began as follows:
The Pope’s letter to the Irish faithful will be released today and read at Sunday Mass in an attempt to defuse the spiralling scandal over clerical sex abuse.
However, the pastoral letter has already been judged a failure by many after a week in which the Primate of All Ireland, Cardinal Sean Brady, apologised for his role in covering up the activities of a notorious paedophile priest.

Father Paul Marx OSB, RIP
Retired at the Modernist Monatery that once persecuted him, he was the founder of one of the most effective Pro-Life organizations in the world.
One day, upon meeting him, John Paul II jocularly said, "Is there a little Karl in there?"
Despite his advocacy for the unborn and stolidity on many issues of Catholic principle, he was himself, a friend of "Liturgical Renewal".
Understandably, the Modernist Monastery stripped Father Paul of his faculties (like Christ being stripped of his purple vestments), to which he admitted he felt an "exile" there, certainly had more than passing reservations about their famous fellow Benedictine who brokered no compromises when it came to putting homosexuals in their proper light and of course, challenging what must be, for many of St. John's Abby's habitués, a more significant Sacrament than any of the actual seven, abortion.
He once wrote for Der Wanderer:

Child Pornography Rings: Leutheusser-Schnarrenberger is not credible any longer
"The Humanist Union" has cooperated for many years with child abusers. Then the police intervened with a SWAT team.

The Federal leader of the 'Humanist Union', Rosemarie Will, is a Soviet trained former member of the DDR-State Party "SED".
The most well-known advisor of the 'Humanist Union" is the German law minister, Sabine Leutheusser-Schnarrenberger(FDP).
She is being used at present by Chancellor Angela Merkel as an axe against the Catholic Church.
'Humanist Union' supports Child-Porn Rings
'CareChild' reports frightening detals: In at least one case the police with a SWAT team had to proceed against a "Pedophile Working Group" supported by 'Humanist Union'.
'The Humanist Union' has - according to 'CareChild' - for many years tried to get "more social acknowledgement" and "quasi-legalization of sex with children" through legal means.
Furthermore, the organization, according to suppositions of 'CareChild', "tried to get its porno ring presented as a self-help group".
The child welfare organization knows from first hand that one of the most notorious members of these Child-Porn rings in Munich was supported by the 'Humanist Union'.
'Humanist Union' even left their premises at his disposal: "the police made an end for the spook in 2003".
"Predominantly Pedophile"
In this connection 'CareChild' mentions also the notorious working group 'Human Sexuality' - which is the last word in child abuse.
Their board of trustees has an advisor of 'Humanist Union', the eminent sociologist Fritz Sack (79).
Sack was from 1997 to 2003 in the executive committee of 'Humanist Union.'
Searches by 'CareChild' determined the 'Working Group Human Sexuality' consisted predominantly of "pedophiles".
A position paper of the Working Group on its homepage explains:
"It gives the adult, who being immersed in the dreams, feeling and imagination o a child could put himself in the other's place, and leave the guiding role to the child. If both sides are ready for it, then eroticism and sexuality can play a role."
Still in the year 1999 'Humanist Union' designated the Godless 'Working Group Pedophilia' as "a meaningful contribution to child protection".
Then in 2000 the executive committee 'Humanist Union', tried to use the child abusers as social scapegoats.
Only at the open conference of "Humanist Union' was it requested that the executive committee not publish this as the official position of the association.

Fr Andrew Greeley has the Goods on the Monsters
Someone once said, "even a novel by Andrew Greeley is worth 25 cents", but few of us may have considered the possibillity that he would win the chagrin of his liberal confreres. Unfortunately, liberal though he is, Father Greeley knows who the abusers, not just the abusees, but he's not telling anything. Isn't that irresponsible, cowardly, dishonest or does it also shine a light on the true nature of this issue that those who run the presses are unwilling to discuss?
It's not so terribly hard to surmise. The indictment doesn't just ring against the Church, but against the entire society. Either enforce the existing laws and root these monsters out where they are and stop protecting them or not.

As Father Andrew Greeley continues to recover from a serious head injury suffered earlier this month, I thought I'd feature images from two of his (out-of-print) non-fiction books — Confessions of a Parish Priest (paperback edition), from 1986 and 1987; and Furthermore! Memories of a Parish Priest, from 1999 and 2000.
Interestingly, in Confessions (page 131), Father Greeley made some rather keen observations about a certain segment of the clergy — observations that proved all too accurate a decade-and-a-half later.

Denny Kuchinch: The Cheapest Date in Town

The delicate sensibilities of Crain’s Greg Hinz are offended because Mark Kirk called President Obama “this guy” and further…perish the thought…that Republican Kirk wants to see Obama become a one-termer—Hinz thoughtfully detailing how important it is to expand Kirk’s influence beyond the Republican base…an idea evidently shared by a major newsletter-blog-fax in town since it seemed to pass on approvingly Hinz’s suggestion.
Meaning that Kirk would become an Arlen Specter-like handmaiden to the reigning liberal orthodoxy of The Squid. The idea would neuter Kirk and make nice-nice with liberals…more than he has already when he voted for Cap and Trade in the House…with the result that if Kirk got elected…which is looking more certain as the days go by…he would become indistinguishable from Chuck Percy (who gave us via Gerald Ford John Paul Stevens as an enduring Supreme Court legacy).

Meaning that Kirk would become an Arlen Specter-like handmaiden to the reigning liberal orthodoxy of The Squid. The idea would neuter Kirk and make nice-nice with liberals…more than he has already when he voted for Cap and Trade in the House…with the result that if Kirk got elected…which is looking more certain as the days go by…he would become indistinguishable from Chuck Percy (who gave us via Gerald Ford John Paul Stevens as an enduring Supreme Court legacy).

Boy Scouts Accused of Sex Abuse Coverup
You can't just indict the Catholic Church for these things, since the sexualization of children is something that happens even within the apparently secure confines of children's television. We were long indoctrinated that there was no evil and that perpetrators were victims. Now it seems that there are quite a few people who don't want to recall that pedagogical mythos which attempted to demythologize morality and put something else in its place.
It also may cause many to entertain some other notions, like whether or not all of this might have been avoided if the mormon perp wasn't restricted to just one wife.
The Catholic Church always resisted this attempt to portray personal evil as a medievalism, and it seems we're reaping the harvest of sentimentalism without objective morality.
What no one is saying is that the morality that allows us to condemn those who would prey on adolescents and children, has been steadily undermined by entertainment and education for more than 100 years. Why, you can see it in the works of Voltaire and Moliere.

It seems unlikely that even the most morally liberated mother would blanche a bit at having her daughter idolize the trappings of late sixties harlotry. This art-house film appraisal of Disney by Whit Stillman, seems to grasp the significance of Disney's pedagogical (if not pathological) hold on the sexual mores of children who later grow up to be sophisticated but unsatisfied and highly medicated adults.

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Boy Scouts of America has long kept an extensive archive of secret documents that chronicle the sexual abuse of young boys by Scout leaders over the years.
The "perversion files," a nickname the Boy Scouts are said to have used for the documents, have rarely been seen by the public, but that could all change in the coming weeks in an Oregon courtroom.
The lawyer for a man who was molested in the 1980s by a Scout leader has obtained about 1,000 Boy Scouts sex files and is expected to release some of them at a trial that began Wednesday.

Dutch Homosexuals Serving in Yugoslavia were part of a Disastrous Equation
Predictably, the Dutch government, which permits all kinds of license and degenerative depravity which has progressively gutted its society and left it open to Islamic predations, now denies legitimate claims that homosexuals serving in their Armed forces "peacekeeping" in Yugoslavia in 1995, as Marine General John Sheehan maintains, were part of the equation in their being overpowered by Serbian militants who then engaged in the largest massacre since the end of the Second World War.
The massacre at Srebrenica which was the result of the unreadiness of Dutch forces, the General said, "...was a net effect of social engineering".

This socialist Senator who has served Michigan, a State that has itself suffered the ill-effects of socialist pluralism, takes issue with the General's assertion and probably won't be prevailed upon to see the social problems of Holland visited upon the fighting effectiveness of its Army.
It's interesting how he is unwilling to address the issue without any intelligent consideration, it's also especially interesting that Senator Lieberman is also for a repeal of the law forbidding homosexuals in the military.
It would be nice if there were a more intelligent discussion about these social problems as they relate to the readiness of the Military, but from socialist senators like Levin and Joey Lieberman, it's not likely.

The Dutch government rejected a retired US general's claim Thursday that Dutch UN troops failed to prevent the 1995 Srebrenica genocide because their ranks included openly gay soldiers.
"It is astonishing that a man of his stature can utter such complete nonsense," defence ministry spokesman Roger van de Wetering told AFP.
John Sheehan, a former NATO commander and senior Marine officer, made the remarks at a Senate hearing where he argued against plans by President Barack Obama to end a ban on allowing gays to serve openly in the US military.
"The case in point that I'm referring to is when the Dutch were required to defend Srebrenica against the Serbs," he said, referring to the UN peacekeeping force deployed to protect Bosnian Muslim civilians.
"The Srebrenica massacre and the involvement of UN soldiers was extensively investigated by the Netherlands, international organisations and the United Nations. Never was there in any way concluded that the sexual orientation of soldiers played a role," said Van de Wetering.
Sheehan claimed that Dutch leaders, including the former chief of staff of the Dutch army, had told him that the presence of gay soldiers had contributed to the fall of Srebrenica.
"I have never heard of a single statement by a Dutch political or military leader that drew a link between the fall of the enclave and the fact that there were Dutch homosexual soldiers," responded Van de Wetering.
The Dutch ambassador to the US, Renee Jones-Bos, added in a statement on the embassy's website that she "couldn't disagree more" with Sheehan's claims.
"I take pride in the fact that lesbians and gays have served openly and with distinction in the Dutch military forces for decades, such as in Afghanistan at the moment," she said.

Sheikh Incites Muslims to Attack Christians in Egypt

ISTANBUL, March 17 (CDN) — A mob of enraged Muslims attacked a Coptic Christian community in a coastal town in northern Egypt last weekend, wreaking havoc for hours and injuring 24 Copts before security forces contained them.
The violence erupted on Friday (March 12) afternoon after the sheikh of a neighborhood mosque incited Muslims over a loudspeaker, proclaiming jihad against Christians in Marsa Matrouh, in Reefiya district, 320 kilometers (200 miles) west of Alexandria, according to reports.
The angry crowd hurled rocks at the district church, Christians and their properties, looted homes and set fires that evening. The mob was reportedly infuriated over the building of a wall around newly-bought land adjacent to the Reefiya Church building. The building, called al Malak al Khairy, translated Angel’s Charity, also houses a clinic and community center.
“I was very surprised by the degree of hatred that people had toward Christians,” said a reporter for online Coptic news source Theban Legion, who visited Reefiya after the attack. “The hate and the disgust were obvious.”
The attack was a rarity for a northern coastal resort town in Egypt; most tensions between Copts and Muslims erupt in southern towns of the country.
According to a worker building the wall around the newly-bought plot, local Sheikh Khamis along with a dozen “bearded” men accused the church and workers of blocking a road early on Friday, staff members of Watani newspaper said.
Worried that the dispute could erupt into violence, one of the priests ordered the workers to take the wall down.
The governor of Marsa Matrouh approved the building of the church center and granted a security permit to conduct religious services in 2009.
Following afternoon mosque prayers, Sheikh Khamis rallied neighborhood Muslims, gathering more than 300 people. The mob broke into groups, attacking the church and nearby houses of the Coptic Christian community. There are nearly 2,000 Coptic Christians in Reefiya.
Around 400 Copts fled into the church building while the rioting mob looted and destroyed 17 houses, 12 cars and two motorcycles, according to Watani.
Local security forces were unable to contain the attack and called-in back up from nearby Alexandria. At nearly 1:30 a.m. on Sunday (March 14) they managed to contain the crowd and let the Christians out of the church.
Police arrested 16 young Christian men among those who were inside the church building, according to Watani. Later, four of them who were released because they were underage told reporters that security forces beat them. Police also arrested 18 of the assailants.
Some of the attackers and security forces were also wounded in the altercation. Of the wounded Copts, two were reportedly rushed to a hospital in Alexandria in critical condition. Sobhy Girgis, 33, was taken to Alexandria’s Victoria Hospital for internal bleeding in the kidney from injuries sustained from rocks the crowd threw at him, and Mounir Naguib, 41, was treated for multiple stab wounds, according to Watani.
Naguib, a teacher, said he was accosted while on his way to the Angel’s Charity building, with a knife-wielding member of the mob asking him if he was a Christian. When he said he was, the Muslim told him to convert to Islam by pronouncing the two testimonies of the Muslim faith (that there is no God but Allah and that Muhammad is his messenger).
“When I refused, he stabbed me in the thigh and hit me on the head,” Naguib told Watani.
One Copt, Nabil Wahba, told of how his house was destroyed. Wahba said he came home at 6 p.m. to find around 40 men hurling stones at his house. At 9 p.m. they came back with clubs and iron pipes, ripping the windows open and throwing fireballs into the house.
“When we tried to put out the fire, they hurled stones at us, while others were pulling down the garden fence and setting the other side of the house aflame,” Wahba told Watani.
Security forces pulled Wahba and his sister out of his blazing house.
On the same day that violence erupted in Marsa Matrouh, the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) released a report denouncing Egypt’s legal system for not bringing people to justice for violent acts against Christians and their property.
According to the report, in the last year there have been more than a dozen incidents in which Coptic Christians have been targets of violence.
“This upsurge in violence and the failure to prosecute those responsible fosters a growing climate of impunity,” USCIRF Chairman Leonard Leo states in the report.
Since 2002, Egypt has been on the USCIRF “Watch List” as a country with serious religious freedom violations, including widespread problems of discrimination, intolerance and other human rights violations against members of religious minorities, according to the report.
Commenting on the Marsa Matrouh attack, the Theban Legion reporter stated that among the mob were members of Bedouin communities who are intolerant of plurality and diversity in society.
“The law of the land is supposed to be a civil law, and we would like to see a civil law applying to everybody,” he said.

"Catholic" Group Praises Oberstar
McCatholics are a syncristic lot, they appreciate the warm and comfortable association with a religion whose primary tenets they abhor, but hypocritically, they can't leave it behind. There's something more sinister at work here, to be sure, but animal sentimentality and emotionalism is what overrides honesty in the case of those aging Catholics who protest the Military and campaign for the normalization of homosexuality.

Following Wednesday’s news that Rep. James Oberstar will be voting for the health care reform bill before Congress, the progressive group Catholics United is airing TV commercials praising the Minnesota Democrat. The spots, which began airing in Minnesota on Wednesday, is part of a “broader national campaign to underscore Catholic support for health care reform” just as “as insurance company-backed interests are pulling out the stops to oppose affordable health care for all Minnesotans,” according to a statement by the group.
The spot praises Oberstar, a Catholic, in general terms for helping create jobs for working families, but doesn’t specifically mention health care reform or the controversy over whether elective abortions will be covered under the plan (they won’t).
The commercial, which runs in Duluth in full saturation through Saturday, came out the same day that a letter urging each Congress member to “cast a life-affirming ‘yes’ vote” on health care reform was released by a group of 59,000 Catholic nuns who are involved with running many of the country’s Catholic hospitals. The move is in opposition to the opinion of the Catholic bishops.

The judge ordered retired Col. Byron Lima freed for good behavior after serving half his 20-year sentence for helping plot the murder of human rights crusader Bishop Juan Gerardi. "It's an embarrassment for Guatemala," said Mario Minera, director of the Center of Legal Action for Human Rights.
