Cardinal McElroy attributes opposition to Fiducia supplicans to “anti-gay sentiment.”

Robert McElroy, a Bergoglian straight out of a picture book (from Santa Marta)

After Pope Francis recently stated that the resistance to the Fiducia supplicans declaration concerns “small groups” of “hypocrites,” one of his close confidants in the USA, Cardinal Robert McElroy, Bishop of San Diego, followed up and claimed that the resistance to widespread homophobia in church circles was going away.

Much of the opposition to Rome's permission for priests to bless gay couples and other couples who find themselves in an objectively sinful position is based not on doctrinal principles, Cardinal McElroy said, but on a "long-standing hostility" against gays and lesbians. The notorious US Bergoglian made this statement at a congress on the subject of the Synodality Synod sponsored by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles .

“It is entirely legitimate for a priest to personally refuse to perform the blessings described in Fiducia supplicans because he believes that this would undermine the strength of marriage,” said the cardinal. But it is “particularly troubling in our own country that resistance to Fiducia focuses overwhelmingly on the blessing of people in same-sex relationships and less on men and women in canonically invalid heterosexual relationships.”

As is well known, there are no limits to dialectics. It is now known that Cardinal McElroy, as Bishop of San Diego, does not object to the blessing of gay couples or other irregular relationships. But he wants to criticize the critics of Fiducia supplicans all the more and thus accommodate the Bergoglian agenda. The “logic” is even used that the criticism of the papal homosexual agenda cannot be valid because other irregular situations are not also criticized.

This dialectical game from the mouth of a cardinal sounds like this:

“If the reason for rejecting these blessings is indeed that such a practice dilutes and undermines the marital bond, then the rejection should be at least equally focused on the blessings for these heterosexual relationships in our country. We all know why this is not the case.” Because, says McElroy, there is “a long-standing hostility from too many people towards LGBT people.”

The sinner, who is a criminal in the eyes of God, is declared a victim, and the critics of public sin are labeled hypocrites. Bergoglio lo vult.

It is not the only insinuation that Cardinal McElroy makes to defend Fiducia supplicans . He claims that the critics of the Roman declaration do not act in defense of the truth of the faith, i.e. for compelling, objective and well-founded reasons, but out of subjective arbitrariness because they have an aversion to homosexuals. For progressives like McElroy, homosexuality is not a problem; its sinfulness is swept under the carpet, at best mentioned in an unheard aside, and there is no longer any talk of it being one of the four blatant sins.

No, this has nothing to do with the doctrine of faith, says McElroy, whom Francis made a cardinal because of his merits, such as this statement, but only with personal, arbitrary aversions.

And everything has been clarified dogmatically and morally anyway, says McElroy, since Fiducia supplicans does not force any bishop or priest to give gay blessings. If one follows the Bergoglian US cardinal, this option regulation makes any check as to whether Fiducia supplicans is orthodox  or heterodox superfluous.

The Cardinal of Francis' grace appears to be a master of obfuscation and attempts to raise false questions in order to distract from the real ones. It goes without saying that McElroy reiterates that “no doctrinal change was made” with Fiducia supplicans.

Progressive churchmen like McElroy have a clear agenda, but for the purpose of deception they do not say it openly and distort the facts. The legalization of homosexuality is the most important point of the Bergoglian agenda.

McElroy says what he says because he’s the firstborn of Satan and a homosexual. Only a filthy animal and pervert would come out in support of these disgusting degenerates and the filthy things they do.

Don't hold back on the vitriol, Nemo 3:30 PM. Let the reader know where you really stand. And, while you're in a feisty mood, give us all a few tips about your own journey to sainthood.

Don’t hold back with the tedious attempt to dismember people noticing things.

That's not 'noticing things," Nemo 3:57 PM. That's launching a savage moralistic attack on a human being and a distinguished Catholic leader as well.

Wake up to yourself.

Yes...and?

Clearly McElroy hates historic Catholicism and the people who love it. Like all American leftist public figures McElroy practices psychological projection , projecting his own nasty acts and thoughts unto others thereby relieving himself from his own guilt and making it a problem for someone else.

Gibberish! Talk about projection, Bozo. This is a classic.
Cardinal McElroy is simply teaching the Tradition of the Church: the pastoral care of the Church is available to all; the blessing is not an endorsement of the canonical/theological
irregularities in the relationship but on individuals that they may be strengthened on the way to a satisfactory resolution to those irregularities. Get the facts straight and
get help yourself.

I think Cardinal Mc Elroy is undermining the Tradition of the Church. Sin and sinful relationships can never be blessed. Cardinal McElroy appears to be endorsing the blessing of cohabiting opposite or same sex couples when this behaviour is mortally sinful.

"I think..and..appears.." are entirely subjective and carrying no objective evidential weight. The Cardinal is acting as pastor on the basis of the sound moral base of the DDF document.

Distorted interpretations of the document are being used as blunt instruments to bludgeon Pope Francis and those who support him. Take a look at the list of Nay-sayers and the picture becomes very clear.

Lol. You’re a hoot. A sodomite is a distinguished Catholic. That’s rich. Clearly you practice the same evil deeds as McElroy.

You don’t know what a Catholic is or what it means. Your perversion has completely blinded you. Nemo 3:30, is that a homosexual code for something or are you telling us that as a grown adult you’re really into Disney movies?

It's exactly this kind of stupid, unrestrained invective that continues to strip Trads and other reactionaries of any vestige of credibility they might have left

You think you’re smart, Gaybrielle? You’ve demonstrated the kinds of lacunae you accuse in others yourself. Obviously, you think you’re the smartest man in the room, but you’re just a “road” scholar.

In my opinion, Fiducia Supplicans (FS) is not part of the Catholic Magisterium and can be properly rejected by faithful Catholics. FS permits, in the actions of priests who bless cohabiting couples (as couples), what is inconsistent with the Catholic faith. Priests should never act in a way that scandalises the faithful. It is not up to the discretion of individual priests to determine what is and is not appropriate or acceptable when issuing blessings. Such discretion amounts to Protestantism and as such this represents heresy. Church doctrine is not progressive or 'evolving' but timeless, real, constant, rational, truthful and internally consistent.

Tucker and friend do themselves no favor whatsoever in giving oxygen to Nardi who makes his living out of peddling highly distorted and ideologically compromised scripts, eg:

"Progressive churchmen like McElroy have a clear agenda, but for the purpose of deception they do not say it openly and distort the facts. The legalization of homosexuality is the most important point of the Bergoglian agenda."

If Nardi were in the business of writing about objective truth that would hold its own in a court of law, the unsupported assertions above would be thrown out. The problem with people like Nardi and his gullible followers is that they don't consider themselves bound by the accepted standards of truth in reporting that are integral to functioning of a decent, healthy and virtuous society.

Francis is having to drag some people kicking and screaming into the 21st Century

Even if he got them as far as halfway through the 20th Century, it would be a huge progression.

Voris scandal resurfaces in the WP 2.24.24 (includes quotes from former employees) - wonder who's behind it: “He was convinced that everything had to be destroyed in the Catholic Church in order for everything to be rebuilt,” said Alejandro Bermudez, the former head of Catholic News Agency, now a consultant for Catholic media outlets, who described Voris as a “flamethrower.”...Yet after years of Voris’s scorched-earth tactics and dancing around controversy, few of Church Militant’s old supporters seem to be mourning the loss of its leader.

“Nobody is saying ‘Oh, what a shame, so sad,’” said Bermudez, the Catholic-media consultant. “Nobody, not one.”

I understand that in the Kingdom of Heaven, no souls of mortal men have any remaining attachment to sin. That means for these souls, any attachment to sinful relationships or sinful conduct, including sins of the flesh or acts of perversion previously committed on earth, will have been completely purged by an indulgence or in purgatorial fire, and sins absolved. These souls are now blessed. However, unrepentant sinners in cohabiting relationships are not blessed, and their sinful relationships can not be blessed. Therefore, I consider that FS is a 'non-sequetur'.

The only hostility to actual lesbians and homosexuals is toward those occupying positions within the Church herself, and twisting Church teaching and practice to glorifying and normalizing their sin. The position of Catholics is love the sinner, hate the sin. But that is always twisted by the sodomites as hating the individual sodomites. Now I am waiting to be called "Nemo" and told to "get help". Yawn.
