I had seen this movie before but the audio wasn't so good. The flashback immediately after first witnessing the TLM but prior to making it to the island by helicopter was cut.
Perhaps, the censors do not approve of criticizing general absolution??

I don't know what the producer's objective with this film was. At times, it's prescient but the revolutionaries are portrayed sympathetically, even if they were caricatures, at that time. It's as if trads and heretics were somehow able to cooperate in making this movie. Well, Man for All Seasons was written by an atheist and Bless me, Father was a nostalgic view of the pre-Conciliar Church by a priest who hung it up.

Could be. Although American Catholics appear to be even more pro-abort.
