Edit: libel is a criminal offense in Italy.
[Gloria.TV] In April, Avvenire, the daily of the Italian bishops, published a nasty piece against Cardinal Raymond Burke, written by Gianni Gennari, a former priest known for his attacks against Benedict XVI and John Paul II.
Without checking the facts, Gennari falsely accused the cardinal of having called Pope Francis an antichrist during a talk in Rome.
Only in June Avvenire published an abbreviated version of Burke’s reply in which he pointed out that Gennari’s claims where in no way related to what he had said during his talk. He asked Avvenire for a public rectification and excuse.
Marco Tarquinio, Avvenire’s editor-in-chief, commented Burke’s letter defending Gennari’s calumnies. He added more insults and lies by referring to other alleged statements of Burke for which he did not even indicate the source.
The Catholic outlet LaNuovaBQ.it commented on Tarquinio’s behaviour like this, “A newspaper set up on the model of the Pravda of Soviet memory, cannot but handle those it perceives as 'enemies of the revolution' in a Soviet way.”
Of course they would libel a good man like Cardinal Burke. He's a courageous hero for the true Faith who stands up against the heresy and blasphemy of Francis and company. People like those at Avvenire have their backs up against the wall, as does Francis and company. Their time is running out, so they will use every dirty trick, every smear tactic, every lie and innuendo to put faithful Catholic such as Cardinal Burke and others who oppose them, in a very bad light.
Funny thing though, their efforts usually backfire badly on them. Francis has tried to smear, disgrace, ruin many faithful Catholics, religious Orders, and even Caridnals like Burke. And every time it explodes in his face and he is the one who is hated.
I think they hate/fear Burke and company because they know Francis' time is running out, and however small, there's a chance that the next time around, it will be Burke, or someone similar, stepping out onto the balcony of Saint Peter's as our new Pope.
'....smear tactic, every lie and innuendo' tags could be pinned to many kinds of donkeys on either end of the Catholic spectrum.
BS. Leftist heretics like you are objectively evil.
Don't think Francis and company will end with the end of the Francine Pontificate. The appointments of far flung modernist heretics in the Vatican and Church worldwide has been going on since Pope Paul 6.They are saturated and entrenched.
The Twelve Apostles turned out to be cowards and the head of them, Peter, a three time apostate. Don't think the troubles with dysfunctional leadership only began with Paul VI. The whole process of installing flawed structures of governance began with Constantine.
Read some history.
Wow, Low church historical revisionism.
The Church always had troubles. It wasn't caused by the hierarchy as an institution,or hierarchical structures. It was because the hierarchs refused to act/behave as hierarchs. Lack of hierarchy is the root of all the problems. Just as a father is always your father even if he does not take up his responsibilities, he is still your father. Constantine did not create the Church hierarchy. It was there from the start.
Read what I wrote, Namesake.
The Church is indefectable. And the structures were divinely created by Christ Himself. The Catholic Church existed outside the Roman and Byzantine empire. Ethiopia was the second empire to proclaim the Church founded by as the official State religion. In the middle 300s. Armenia was the first.Even if today they are not in union with Rome, Ethiopia acknowledges a Pope in Egypt, and continued the same Church hierarchical structures it away had. Same as Armenia. So the structures are neither founded by Constantine, nor man-made.
Considering that 10 out of the 12 apostles were martyred, it's difficult to believe that they were cowards. Cowards run from confrontation, they don't make waves, and they try to blend into the background. Anyone during that era that was noticed enough, and whose actions were offensive enough, to warrant death, was surely not a coward. And as to one being 'flawed', it's called being 'human'.
Here is a link that details how each of the apostles died. It is a non-religious source, so I think you will find it unbiased, or as you would probably call it, "historical".
You'll need to prove that 10 of the Twelve were martyrs. National Geographic is about Geography not the science of Church history. So, your 'consideration' that most of the Apostles were martyrs remains an assertion. The Gospel account of the arrest of Jesus states quite clearly that 'all the disciples forsook him and fled.' (Mt 26: 56; Mk 14: 50). The 'disciples' were the Apostles.
It appears that Frank just does not believe. Well then, Frank, let me ask this question: how long is the shelf life of tap water? How long before the tap water putrifies?
The reason Frank does not answer is because he knows the point I am making. HOLY WATER BLESSED BY A VALIDLY ORDAINED PRIEST WITH LEGITIMATE APOSTOLIC SUCCESSION NEVER PUTRIFIES. It is a miracle proving that no lay person or Protestant can ever do. And only validly ordained clergy in Orthodox and Catholic Churches are capable of.
