Cause for Bishop Sheen Suspended

EDITOR'S NOTE: The following is a news release from the Diocese of Peoria. It was distributed to the media on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014.

-----
It is with immense sadness that the Most Reverend Daniel R. Jenky, CSC, Bishop of Peoria and President of the Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen Foundation, announced today that the Cause for Sheen’s beatification and canonization has for the foreseeable future been suspended. The process to verify a possible miracle attributed to Sheen had been going extremely well, and only awaited a vote of the Cardinals and the approval of the Holy Father. There was every indication that a possible date for beatification in Peoria would have been scheduled for as early as the coming year. The Holy See expected that the remains of Venerable Sheen would be moved to Peoria where official inspection would be made and first class relics be taken. Subsequently, the Archdiocese of New York denied Bishop Jenky’s request to move the body to Peoria. After further discussion with Rome, it was decided that the Sheen Cause would now have to be relegated to the Congregation’s historic archive.
Edit: Too anti-Communist, obviously?

"Too anti-Communist, obviously?" I wonder.

But he did deny the necessity of knowing Christ to be saved. See this.

This is a Good News for me because our beloved Fulton Sheen not need being canonized by an heretic and Apostate antipope like Begoglio
Our beloved Fulton Sheen is already in Heaven where there is not the corrupción of the Vatican..

What Archbishop Fulton Sheen prophesied about the false prophet fits perfectly to Bergoglio

His secular saints idea, I thought, was nutty, but he got better with age.

But if it were some homosexual Marxist deviant, you'd have Cardinal Dolan vocally advocating for a fast canonization.

They should freeze all canonization causes and get the process under control so this Saint factory will stop. Its already hard and confusing on how JPII got canonized, something that would never happened under the old system.

But nobody knows the ultimate destiny of the late Bishop Sheen.
Other than being a media star/ personality I am not aware that he ever had any specific reputation for great personal holiness.
I know many people who disliked him intensely and regarded him in the same way they would regard a circus entertainer .

"But if it were some homosexual Marxist deviant, you'd have Cardinal Dolan vocally advocating for a fast canonization."

On the contrary: this afternoon's press release by ADNY suggests that Cdl Dolan would be delighted to have the canonization go forward under the auspices of the ADNY - now that Peoria has done all the hard work and expense.

Which would mean that any shrine to Archbp, Sheen would be built in New York, rather than Peoria.

Just an observation.

These NAC factory Bishops all the issues boil down to Money. Even if it means postponing candidates for Canonizations. Money. NAC Bishops crave attention and well money. They want their Priests slap happy don't rock the boat and preferably intellectually challenged. Remember this is the one who at a public function shouted across the room for everyone to hear to a Trad Priest ostrasized by him and so ended up assisting his elderly parents "how is it going living with your parents?"

Bishop Sheen had a great history of Eucharistic Adoration. He had troubles with the Cardinal Archbishop of NY over his running the worldwide Proprigation of the Faith.

I am sorry, then, if I seem to say that Cardinal Dolan exclusively supports any deviants for sainthood. Maybe everyone goes to Heaven, instead. I'm not sure anymore with Cardinal Dolan.

Why pay any attention at all to Cardinal Dolan?

Everybody does not go to heaven.

There are people who knowingly reject God.

There must logically therefor be a place to put such persons after they die.

How could a God who made us free force somebody into Heaven who did not want to be there?

What is a NAC bishop?
Cryptic comments such as yours are of little help to anybody since few know what you're referring to

Tancred said...

I think he's referring to the North American College and I share your concern.

The Pontifical Northern American College widely known as the NAC is "the West Point" of American Seminaries. One of the most important and influential Seminaries. Read here
http://greatriversofhope.wordpress.com/tag/roman-catholic-archdiocese-of-new-york/

"Dolan spent seven years in Rome as rector of the North American College, considered the West Point for U.S. priests, where he had studied for his own ordination years earlier."

Intersting read on Dolan as Rector

Nothing cryptic NAC is single handedly the factory for the future American Bishops. The Bishops only send the top candidates. Here take a look at Spelly and be sure to read the last paragraph,on page 1 http://www.nytimes.com/1984/10/28/books/guileless-and-machiavellian.html

As Rector in the mid Nineties we have now a chock full of mini Dolans to look forward to in the future.
