Ad Features Blasphemous Dipping Host into Sauce

(Melbourne) With a blasphemous ad, an Australian food distrubutor is advertizing its dipping sauce. The advertisement shows a Bishop who is giving Communion. A communicant takes the Host half in her mouth, then pulls out a jar of sauce and dunks the Host in, in order to make it "more tasty". The sacrilegious tastelessness makes clear the general acceptance in secular circles, that in contrast to other religions like Judaism and Islam, Christianity can be insulted with impunity.

The evil ad was eventually pulled.
THE controversial online ad showing a sacramental wafer being dipped into a jar of yeast spread during a Catholic mass has been withdrawn days after its release.
The ad was produced to promote the AussieMite spread and had caused widespread anger among Catholics. At the time, its creator, Mick Hunter from Sydney agency Grown-Ups, said the ad was "probably a bit sacrilegious" and made in the hope of going "a bit viral". But in a statement released through its Facebook page, AussieMite said it never intended to cause offence.
"We sincerely apologise for any offence caused. It was never the intention to do so, but we recognise that for some it did.
"We have listened to your comments and removed any and all instances of the campaign from our social media channels. Furthermore, we have requested for the ad to be removed from all other channels.
"We are a small family-owned company looking to establish ourselves and a product we believe in and love.
"We sincerely hope that this will not dissuade you from buying AussieMite in the future."
AussieMite founder Roger Ramsey said he had been shocked by the reaction. He said a death threat had been left on the company's telephone message bank but he had not taken it seriously. "I didn't think there would be such an emotional reaction," he said. "It was only intended to be tongue in cheek and a bit of fun. "
Our intentions have always been to do good not create division. Our values our concerned with the health and well-being of the consumer."
Time heals all wounds. The positive thing is that by and large the vast majority of the Catholic and other Christian communities have embraced the apology and are prepared to move on."

Apparently, there was also a death threat from one of the several million Catholics who lives in Australia.  We probably don't have to imagine how many there would have been had Jewish or Islamic sensibilities been offended.

The huge problem, is that more and more people
are sucked into PC rule # 1 and # 2. 1. Do not offend Jews. 2. Do not offend Muslims. Do not offend Christians is not even on the list. That
is the huge problem that far too many Christians do nothing to demand Christians be on the list if 1 and 2 are on the list.
Is this turning the other cheek or just not really caring about Christianity anymore.
I'll guess the latter 2.

Christians will never make the list because it is their Catholicism that prevents them from doing the evil that the others do. Even when it's merited. They think they must always turn the other cheek. I do not fall under that category.

There two kinds of cheeks. One for slapping and one
for kissing. Problem is all kinds of people are always getting them mixed up. The ones on your face
in Christian Theology are for turning and slapping.
The others in any theology are for turning and kissing. So Christians most especially Catholics
should turn the ones for slapping and then immediately turn the ones for kissing and then
(save maliciousness, bribing, extorting, blackmailing,
whining and all the evil tactics common to those on
the list, immediately start doing things that make them A Factor, A Force
to be Reckoned with.

While we may turn our OWN cheeks, we may not - on pain of sin - be silent when others or Holy Mother Church is agrieved.

I think you will find that is not true. Most people see Christianity getting criticized more because more atheists have had to grow up in Christian oppressive households and live in Christian countries. Trust me as an atheists I don't hold back on any religion, I actually like to criticize all of them with the broad stroke of theism, except when it is addressing a particular religion and something they have done.

That's nice Christian, bully for you. Do you happen to administer some part of education, industry or the media?

It has more to do with the prolonged adolescence and preciousness of Western youth, I think. Any excuse to avoid the looming realities of duty, justice or even something as essential as reality.

Christian said...

Oh, I am not a bully I am just a rational person who criticizes ideas that hurt others as religion has a tendency to do. As for what I do I am a scientist, a chemist to be more precise.

I don't avoid reality as I am sure most atheists don't as that would fly straight in the face of using logic to come to a rational outcome.

Considering that your post had nothing to do with the content of the article, I'll take your word for it. Thanks for coming by.

You said in your article
"The sacrilegious tastelessness makes clear the general acceptance in secular circles, that in contrast to other religions like Judaism and Islam, Christianity can be insulted with impunity."
I was pointing out why this is so and why it is not true. So I think my point was very relevant.

I was raised in a Catholic home. Taught to live clean, do no unjust harm, honor my parents, hate perversion against nature, love even the pervert, be faithful to marriage vows and above all to know, love and serve God. Yes, I was oppressed too. Poor me.

BTW, reality and logic teach that those who claim there is no God yet spend all their time trying to make trouble for the God they say they don't believe in. ROFL My upbringing taught me not to harass those who do not agree with me. That would be hateful. Too bad your religion doesn't teach the same.

Atheists my ass. LOLOL

to Christian, You are sure that most atheists don't
avoid reality thus use logic to reach rational outcomes. Mr. Christian, that is a very unscientific
conclusion. The larger fact is that there are many
unscientific conclusions in science.

Mr. Christian, If you proved that Christianity
in contrast to exs. Judaism and Islam can be insulted with impunity is so..in
fact you did no such thing. And why it is not true.
You were wrong again. I could be wrong but I think I am not in saying this logic and scientific method is
flawed. Mr. Christian, you said, "I was pointing out
why this is so and why it is not true".

What you say is true and you must be very busy. I'm
very serious. Let us soldier on.

I don't mind people responding to him, but I just cut bait after I deleted the response before this one. I might be a little trigger happy, but when I see the obvious petty narcicisism, I'm not moved much to spend a lot of time or to want to waste anyone else's time.

He says HE doesn't discriminate between Christians, Jews and Muslims, well that's nice, but I don't care what some eccentric says about Islamists and Jews. The point is that there are consequences for being critical as far as the cultural Marxism which rules the media is concerned.

Thanks for summarizing what Christian last said before you
decided it was all enough and then to give it a last chance.
I suppose I'm intuitive as I had a feeling that it was enough. But maybe I'll look at his suggestion to see if he clarifies his comments.

He claims that because he deals with all religions with equal contempt that there isn't special treatment meted out to Christians. I don't know what to call it. Adolescent solipsism?
