No Settlement With the SSPX

The stated terms which were personally addressed by Pope Benedict XVI -- as the Pope well knows -- unacceptable to the Society.
Bishop Tissier de Mallerais

(kreuz.net) On June 30th the Pope sent a personally addressed and signed letter to the Society of St. Pius X.

This is according to Bishop Bernard Tissier de Mallerais on 16 September in the Prior6y of the 1,200 population town Faye-d'Anjoy in the west French Department Maine-et-Loire.

The corresponding points of the report appeared transcribed in the French forum 'lefebvristes.forum-box.com'.

The Terms

The Papal document was addressed to the General Superior of the Society, Bishop Bernard Fellay.

The Pope wrote within that in order for there to be possible a "complete settlement" in the Church, the Second Vatican Council and the post-Conciliar Magisterium must "really" be accepted.

"There won't be any settlement"

For Msgr Tissier the demand to recognize the Second Vatican Council is unacceptable and with it the conclusion of the discussions with the Vatican:

"We could accept it in any case."

The Pastoral Council contains many texts in which one finds good things:

"But that is not the kernel of the Council."

The Society could not sign the current proposal of the Dogmatic Preamble forthwith.

Yet Msgr Tissier believes that the Vatican will also be "stubborn" in the future to make the Pastoral Council toothsome to the Society.

The whole world's upside down. You have Catholics who just do what Catholics do on the 'outside,'
and you have the destroyers in charge, promoting a Missal and ecumenical practices that Pius-the-any-of-themth would've been horrified by.

You do have 'approved' orders and such, but they largely owe their origins to the traditionalist revolt in the 70s. It's all backwards from how it's supposed to be, and it honestly has hurt my faith.

I don't even know what to think sometimes, and in my weaker moments have been tempted towards neo-Catholic legal positivism. Just deny what I seem to see and go with the flow. Being human, I could be wrong about it all.

I'm not happy with anybody at this point. The Novus Ordos, the Reform of the Reformers, the Sorta-Trads and the Tough-Trads. It's a mess. I just say my prayers, go to Church on Sunday, and go home. I guess it's all anybody can do...

Sorry if I'm ranting, but it really bothers me. I don't want to drag anybody down with my personal crap.

Tic... toc... time is on our side, not theirs. As their orders and vocations dry up and die out, ours grow stronger. The Faith is nourishing to us and we have to help it grow by pious practices and hanging on no matter what.

Don't let the devils drag you down, Servo. The Novus Ordos are of a different religion. Just pray for them as you do any other Protestant. The new Reformers are just Novus Ordos putting on a new coat. They think that because the card in their pocket says "Catholic" they are good to go. All the new coats in the world will not make them Catholic. And if they foolishly cut the line connecting them to the SSPX by a desperate act of another false excommunication, it will be at their own peril. They will find that it is they that will be set adrift at sea and the Society will remain...as it ALWAYS has...afloat in the Barque of Peter whether there is a helmsman on deck or not.

There are no "Trad" Catholics. Only Catholics. You can recognize them by their fidelity, piety and by the peace of Christ that is about them. We should all be praying to have His peace too.

The job required of us has not changed! It is the same in good times and in bad. We know what that is. And these times should not be disturbing our peace because we "have been told beforehand" and these signs should make us rejoice for our
salvation is near.

There is more that we can do than what you listed. Personal piety, daily Rosary, start each day with the Morning Offering, pray The Angelus three times a day.

The Morning Offering is such a win-win prayer and I just love it. No matter what...everything we do is offered up to the Sacred Heart through the Immaculate Heart of Mary. I never start a day without that one!
The Angelus is protection from the very things that wish to devour us today. Nobody ever told me this but to me it seems a prayer to help the holy angels battle the bad ones.
The Rosary..Ah.....the Most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary! A special power, efficacy and protection has been placed on that one and The Virgin herself has begged this prayer of us.

And wear the Brown Scapular. Be enrolled and have it blessed.

NOW...we can do what The Virgin commanded. "Pray unceasingly!" We are Soldiers and we have our orders. Let's roll.
