Immemorial Rite Taught in Spanish Liturgical Institute


(Barcelona) At the Instituto Superior de Liturgia(ISLB)of Barcelona will include the Old Rite in its teaching plan for the academic year 2011/2012. The class for the Extraordinary [Sic] Form of the Roman Right is run by Don Parés Javier. In the lecture notice it is described as a course: "A knowledge of the contents as well as the Edition of the Missal of 1962 as well as other liturgical books, which are were published under the direction of the Second Vatican Council, is necessary for a new generation, especially as a comparative study of the books of the 'ordinary form' of the Roman Rite."

The Instituto Superior de Liturgia is the only institution of its kind in Spain. It was canonically erected in 1986 by the Holy See and is organized as a theological faculty of Catalonia. The students of the Institute come from all the Diocese of Spain and Latin America. The Director is Don Jaume González Padrós, who earned his degree at the Papal Athenaum of Sant'Anselmo in Rome in the subject of Liturgy. Don Gonzalez is an adviser of the Liturgy Commission of the Spanish Bishops' Conference.
