Germans Have Little Faith in the Catholic Church -- Pope's Popularity Declines

Edit: Imagine my shock. You would think that Marx's big push to legitimize mortal sin would make him and his confreres MORE, not less popular.

Germans consider television more trustworthy than the Catholic Church. In a survey, it is only in the rear midfield among 26 institutions. Trust in the pope also decreases.

Statistics | Bonn - 04.01.2018 According to a survey, Germans do not trust the Catholic Church with great confidence. Among 26 "non-political institutions," the Catholic Church in a study by the opinion research institute forsa for the television station RTL and ntv is only ranked 18th At 27 percent, however, it improved compared to the previous year by one percentage point. Here, the perception in West and East Germany deviates strongly from each other. For example, only 13 percent of East Germans give their trust to the Catholic Church; by contrast, 30 percent among the West Germans.

The Protestant church increased by two percentage points to 48 percent, ranking it in 13th place. In West Germany, 50 percent of the respondents trust them, in eastern Germany 34 percent.

Confidence in the pope, on the other hand, declined significantly last year. He is trusted by 54 percent of the respondents, which represents a decrease of 6 percentage points compared to 2016 and means 9th place in the current ranking. Here too, West and East Germany deviate strongly from each other. The pope enjoys, according to the data, 40 percent of the East Germans' trust, but 57 percent of West Germans.

Islam lost the most confidence

The strongest loss of confidence was recorded by Islam. It fell in the "trust ranking" from 25 percent in the previous year to 9 percent. That means rank 24. Behind it lie only managers with 6 per cent and advertising agencies with 5 per cent. Forsa boss Manfred Güllne believes Islamist attacks are responsible this low value for Islam.

37 percent of the respondents trusted the Central Council of Jews, three percentage points less than in 2016. The "trust ranking" is headed by the police, universities, doctors and their own employers. The media in the form of radio, press and television had each suffered 4 percentage point losses. According to the poll, 56 percent of Germans trust in the radio (8th place), the press comes to 40 percent (15th place), the television 28 percent (17th place).

The survey took place between December 15 and 20, with 2,307 people polled. (Well / KNA)

It must be remarked that the largest ethnic group in the united states is German. Actually, the German farmer was the backbone in Missouri through a militia to deep Missouri in the union. The beliefs of Kasper and company are actually anathema to the common German. After all, this is the land of Bismarck and Hitler as well as Rommel and the Luftwaffe which was an honorable institution which ran the prison camps where my German u.s. Air Force father survived.

Germans were sought after as immigrants to farm and populate the west in America. They were known for their excellent farming methods, strong families and, for the most part, lack in interest in politics. They were the most persecuted of Catholic ethnic groups...by Catholic Bishops.

It's easy to understand that many if not most German Catholics have lost confidence in the ecclesiastical structure which are not coextensive with the Church, Christ's Body. They have not lost faith in Christ.

Oy veh!

“He cannot have God for his Father who will not have the Church for his mother.”

What kind of self-respecting God would inhabit your exotic sectarian Cabal, Tancred? There lies your problem old boy.
You haven't the insight to recognise that the 'God' you worship is a bigoted, elitist snob who is every thing that the God and Father of Jesus Christ is not. It's no wonder that you are so consumed with bitterness, resentment, anger and self-loathing that the comfortable little cosmos you and your camp-followers have created is imploding. Wake up to yourself before the final downward spiral gets out of control.

Pope Benedict is also German and so is Cardinal Muller.

Gus H: And to what "downward spiral" are you attesting? The ball dropped in Times Square to be sure. It appears that you dropped the ball a long time before that.

Gus H said...

When you start talking to people about Jesus Christ and his Gospel as the heart of the Faith instead of bleating about secrets of Fatima and the delusional ramblings of the adulterous pot head Malachi Martin then you might begin to persuade them that you have something redemptive to say.

I do not understand why Tancred’s comment, which is no more than ordinary Catholic teaching, should provoke such personal vitriol from Gus H.

The idea that the Church=The Catholic Church is axiomatic.

Michael Monaco said...

If you follow the narrative trotted out by Tancred and his supporters you might rightly grasp the fact that the 'Church' described by him/them is a comfortable confected delusion because the real Church is too painful to live in.
It's sede-vacantism, of whatever variety, that we're talking about here.

Monsieur Luxembourg, you will have observed that the hillbilly one shot screamer has quite significant cognitive dysfunction. My hunch is that she/he/it has been bitten on a number of occasions by rattlesnakes at those revival moonshine fuelled bible and banjo revivalist sessions.
She has nothing to say and never has.

Paul T said...

No, Lionel, you and Tancred are not in the same Church. Both of you bend the knee or elbow at your very own sui generis Gnostic shrines.

I am affirming the Nicene Creed as it was understood in the 1930's and before.
I am affirming Vatican Council II in harmony with the Nicene Creed and the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus.
I am affirming the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus as it was interpreted in the 16th century.
So I am still in the same Catholic Church.
Could you say the same for Pope Benedict and the German bishops and cardinals.?

Paul T said...

No Lionel, you are a Gnostic. Their security lies in their conviction that God is bound by their own exotic, exclusionary sectarian human confections of who is "in" and who is "out" of God's Kingdom.
You inhabit a cult, Lionel, and God is not a member.

How can you develop an arbitrary and non-arbitrary self analysis of another person with respect of dignity without knowledge of an expectant personality of an individual.

JBQ said...

@Gus: You should have been at the "buss" stop a little earlier. You now have an L of a long wait. "Redemptive" connotes sin.

JBQ said...

Just a "knee-jerk" reaction with emphasis on the latter. Evidently, you were never taught respect for the fairer sex by your own mother. All that you want is anarchy and the destruction of this website.

JBQ said...

@Michael Monaco (among other monikers): Let's see if you even know the meaning of "sede-vacantism". You whistle of the "real Church" where "man is God" and makes his/her own rules. That is Gnosticism.

Carl J said...

Ask the cussing hillbilly is she would like to be referred to as 'the fairer sex'?
Category error is a constant in your script. Get help.

Paul T said...

It's called hermeneutics old chap and it's as ancient as humanity. I'm not arbitrary in the least in deciphering Lionel's narrative. It's monotone, predictable, doctrinaire and has nothing whatsoever to do with God, Jesus Christ, the Church or the mystery of salvation. It's a pathology. There's a difference.

susan said...

You should have studied what Carl J had to say below:
"Monsieur Luxembourg, you will have observed that the hillbilly one shot screamer has quite significant cognitive dysfunction. My hunch is that she/he/it has been bitten on a number of occasions by rattlesnakes at those revival moonshine fuelled bible and banjo revivalist sessions.

You are not only a sede-vacantist, JBQ, you are a classic example of 'Christ-less' Christianity. Your fragile belief system is based on the hoodoo voodoo of Marian 'secrets' and the ravings of a lunatic pot head ex Jesuit who thinks he's Nostradamus.
Read the Gospels and St Paul especially Galatians.

susan said...

Feybriel, do you really think you're fooling anyone (other than your disturbed self) that every psychotic freak posting a unhinged rant on this thread (and every other thread of Tancred's....you really do have a sick psycho-sexual obsession with him; perhaps it's time to get a job) is one-and-the-same psychopath?

You use the same words; you hurl the same insults; you drool the same venom. You're sick....get help.

Paul T said...

Who then is Feybriel?
He/she must have had you worked out to a tee and that wouldn't be too difficult at all given the pathologies you exhibit.

susan said...

Michael Monaco or whichever moniker

Your religious system originated with a haemmoroidal heresiarch, anti-Semite and third rate academic (Luther) who paraphrased existing German Bible translations removing Maccabees and moving the Epistle of James because the error of sola fide is flatly contradicted. Sola Scriptura is a fraud too.

You inhabit a cult, Lionel, and God is not a member.
Lionel:
I am affirming the magisterial teachings of the Church over the centuries.I am affirming Vatican Council II and the Catechism of the Catholic Church without using an irrational premise.
For me the past ecclesiology of the Church is the same before and after Vatican Council II.
So why do you say that I am in a cult?
I am not saying anything new.I am a Catholic, the only people who are in Heaven today with faith and baptism.Again, this is not just a personal view, but it has been the teaching of the Church guided by the Holy Spirit.

Catholic Mission said...

Tancred and I are affirming the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus as it was known to the missionaries and magisterium of the 16th century.
Even Vatican Council II says all need faith and baptism for salvation.All. Everyone. (Ad Gentes 7). So Vatican Council II(AG 7) indicates most people today are on the way to Hell. Since they die without faith and baptism.
So this is a Conciliar teaching of the Church. It affirms the old exclusivist ecclesiology of the Church.(John 3:5,Mark 16:16).This is the Conciliar Church for me.

Catholic Mission said...

The dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus is based on John 3:5 and Mark 16:16.Jesus also said enter through the narrow gate for the road to Hell is wide and most people take it.(Matt:7:13). The Catholic Church for me is the narrow gate.
