Pope Francis: "Back to Yesterday? No!"

Pope Francis yesterday warned the representatives of the French-speaking communities in the world against "indietrism".

(Rome) Pope Francis yesterday received the participants of the Pastoral Days of the Communaut├ęs catholiques francophones dans le monde ( CCFM), the French-speaking Catholic communities in the world in audience. In his speech, the head of the Church addressed a topic that has been particularly important to him for several months: "Indietrism".

The neologism in Italian that Francis introduced into the language of the Church means "retrogression", "regression", in his words those who want to "go backward". Concretely, the Pope means the communities and believers of the tradition. “Indietrism” first appeared in his late spring addresses when Francis justified his motu proprio Traditionis custodes and called for its implementation. He made a direct connection with this.

He also incorporated the neologism into his homily, delivered on Tuesday, October 11, in St. Peter's Basilica on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the opening of Vatican II, saying:

“Yes, the Church must first be looked at from above, with God's loving eyes. Let us ask ourselves whether in the Church we start from God, from his loving gaze on us. There is always the temptation to start from self rather than from God, to place our goals above the Gospel, to let ourselves be swept along by the winds of worldliness and to follow the fashions of the times, to reject the present that providence has bestowed on us , and turn to the past. But be careful: Progressivism, which adapts to the world, as well as traditionalism or backwardness, which mourn the loss of a bygone world, are not proofs of love but of infidelity. They are Pelagian egotists that put their own preferences and their own agenda ahead of the love that pleases God, that simple, humble, and faithul love Jesus asked Peter about.

The remarks sound like an equidistant balance between “progressivism” and “traditionalism”. However, the reality is different, as shown by the campaign against tradition launched by Francis with the motu proprio Traditionis custodes .

In the Consistory Hall of the Apostolic Palace yesterday, Francis said to his Francophone visitors:

“The synod is not a parliament, I want to make that clear, it is something else. Why isn't it a parliament? Because the most important figure at the Synod is the Holy Spirit. We speak, but it is not a parliament. The synod is a moment of grace, a process led by the Spirit that makes everything new, that frees us from worldliness, from our closed-offs, from our repetitive pastoral patterns and from fear. He asks us to ask ourselves what God wants to say to us at this time, today, and in which direction he wants to lead us. God, what is he telling me today? Today, not yesterday. Don't be 'indietrists': back to yesterday. No, today, looking to the future.”

  1. Not Francis's commentary on the Traditionalists and their 'backwardness' or restorationism:

"They are Pelagian egotists that put their own preferences and their own agenda ahead of the love that pleases God, that simple, humble, and faithful love Jesus asked Peter about."

Get with the Church while there is time.

  4. Traditionalist Catholicism is the true (pre-Vatican Two) faith, followed obediently. People in a state of grace, correctly conforming their lives to the true teachings of the Catholic Church do not need to change anything they do. They don't need to accept Modernism, or to accommodate the world. Jesus taught us that we cannot follow two masters.

  7. Marxist globalist-WEF shill antipope Bergoglio can blather on all he wants. His contradictory and nonsensical hate-filled decrees and heresies carry no force or authority. He and his followers/minions are schismatic, no one has the right to "improve" on the Mass of the Ages to please KGB agents, muslims, Protestants or Jews. But we are talking about a psychopath/sociopath who thinks he can improve the "Our Father", and eliminate the One, True Church by fiat, completing the V2 destruction, while castigating the people who simply want to continue following the Catholic Church as she has been until the abomination of V2, as "backwards" and schismatic. It's all about dragging souls to hell.

Bishop Athanasius Schneider interpreted Vatican Council II irrationally throughout the interview with Steve Bannon this month.

  10. Llionel,
Don't restrict Schneider's irrationality to the interpretation of Vatican II. The fellow is a raging nut case who has consistently failed to understand what an Ecumenical Council is and the ongoing process of reception, interpretation and application in the decades after.
Furthermore, he is showboat, an overly indulged airport bishop on the boutique TLM global gig.
Fortunately, people like him have to check in with Rome when they are invited to the next expensive line-dance in the opulent West.

    Lionel :

I admire Bishop Athanasius Schneider. I welcomed his statement at Khazakhistan. He said that there is salvation in only Jesus and in only the Catholic Church. For me, in this statement he was interpreting Vatican Council II, rationally, with the Rational Premise. The Council supports him. This was great. He was going back to Tradition without rejecting ( for me) Vatican Council II interpreted with LG 8,14 and 16 being only hypothetical cases and so not practical exceptions for Feeneyite EENS.

But in the three interviews he gave this month he interpreted Vatican Council II as a break with Tradition. So he was choosing the False Premise to interpret the Council as a rupture with Tradition. This is just as the Left interprets the Council.I was wondering if he was being coerced. It would be leftist fascism within and outside the Church.

Also he was asked about the Synods. He did not say that that at the Synods they wrongly interpreted Vatican Council II with the Irational and not Rational Option.

I hope in future he will continue to affirm his ecclesiocentrism and also cite the Council only interpreted rationally.

It is unethical for the popes and cardinals to interpret the Council irrationally when there is a rational option.
