For a man whose next piece of pastoral writing addressed to the Faithful will most likely be about the existential threat to mankind posed by germs, I find his own behavior in this instance to be disappointingly inconsistent.
A pope kissing the feet of Islamists would have been like Pope Pius XII kissing the boots of Hitler's envoy to the Vatican during WW II.
