Green News Outlet: “...just as many sexually abused by members of the Protestant church”

Newspaper from the left green spectrum criticizes media presentation on Church sexual abuse.

Hamburg (kath.net) "In the discussion about sexualised violence, the focus is on the Catholic Church - how the Protestants deal with their cases of abuse, is little present in the media." That was criticized by “taz,” a national newspaper from the left green spectrum. "114,000 people are affected by sexual abuse by Catholic priests in Germany. This is what a recent study by the University of Ulm says. The surprising thing: just as many have been sexually abused by members of the Protestant church,” so the presentation by “taz.”

Offering an overview of the situation in the (Protestant regional church) "North Church,” the article cites Anselm Kohn, abuse victim and founder of an anti-abuse initiative, "The Church is perpetrator and criminal organization but wants to be enlightener, pastoral counselor and judge."

The churches need to allow external review, the report concludes.

  2. If you google Protestant Sexual Abuse in Germany, there is a link to sex abuse in the Baptist Communion near the bottom of the second page of results.

  3. Protestants have been ordaining active aberrosexuals since the 70s when United Church of Christ was the trailblazer for something that soon became a perceived norm for the rest of Protestant communions. The practice of ordaining these sorts of people has been widespread in Germany.

  4. No doubt about that. But our abuse is almost exclusively homo.

We would be naïve and dishonest were we to say this is a Roman Catholic problem and has nothing to do with us because we have married and female priests in our church. Sin and abusive behavior know no ecclesial or other boundaries." Rt. Rev. William Persell, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Chicago, Good Friday Sermon, 2002.

  7. Do you know anything about sexual abuse among Protestants? They were eagerly recruiting sodomites in the 80s.
