I don't think I can go on any longer

My Personal Hero, Cardinal Lehmann
Edit: things have been proceeding steadily downhill for months and what with so much negative feedback, death threats, weird phone calls in the middle of the night, being followed, I've come to the conclusion that this has been a long hard road with few consolations and a lot of headaches.   I will have to hang up this blogger job. I can't even get people to donate to katholisches, a truly excellent weblog for the German reader which has insights and news stories.

This will probabaly be my last post. So long and thanks for all the good vibes!

    1. this better be an april fools joke, who's going to tail a blogger unless you're in possession of some secret documents!

  4. I, too, have been wrestling with depression. As a result of reading your post I have decided to leave the priesthood.

  5. I hope this is an April fools joke. Don't let a few extremists get you down. Your doing a great job and a great service to God and to Traditionalists. There are those extremists who if everything is not done by their own way of thinking they come at one like a pack of animals. Bear the cross for Christ. Please say its an April fools joke.

  6. Just take a break, a hiatus. Blogging with a "thought of the day" is unnatural and thus naturally saps energy. Come back resolved just to blog when its important, timely, and thought out. The big wave is yet to hit our Church and your perspective would be useful for many. No, a Catholic knows nobody is indispensible; we are not our own. But you are given your talent for a purpose in the Mystical Body, see Catherine of Sienna Dialogues 6 through 8. You are young too. Get some rest and stick around for the big one.

  7. You are not alone. St. Michael Chaplet will be said for you and your intentions. We are nearing the turnaround the pendelum is going to swing the right way soon, very soon. God Bless Tancred.

    1. I agree. I've never said the St. Michael Chaplet, and will have to avail myself of that in the future.

  8. Tancred, don't be a jackass...you're good at this and your voice is needed. Man up, and quit being a snowflake...and recover your sense of humor....it'll go a long way toward making this vale of tears bearable.

We love you...now quit being a shmoe.

  9. I have to comment anonymously because of some awful things I once wrote to you when I thought you were leaving mean-spirited comments on my blog - a long time ago now. Since then I realized it was someone else and I accused you wrongly. I always wanted to apologize but feared it would make things worse or re-open old wounds, etc..

That said - though I disagree with some of the things you write, and I'm not as traditional than you, you post many insightful opinions and stories - not without controversy of course. I appreciate your perspective and your knowledge, as well as your opinion. Many times I might have liked it more if you tempered your POV and/or judgments, but that's how it goes.

Anyway. I think you are a good man, a good Catholic, faithful and true. I think we are all entering a period of correction - a sort of correction of conscience, if you will. Problems and confusion abound in order for us to grow in faith and singleness of heart. God alone.

Hang in there, and whatever you decide, prayers and best wishes.

  10. I know exactly how you feel.

I too spent most of my life watching everything I held most dear crumble before my eyes under the influence of my superiors. It lasted decades. But I laied low and persevered and - to make a long story short -, now I'm the Pope.

  11. Have a Venti, salted caramel mocha frappachino, even though it is from STARBUCKS. They are delicious and help me keep, mostly, sane
in the face of ever increasing insanity everywhere.

Here is a smile : ) and a hug and kiss XO for you and, since I am
    quite celibate, you are safe.

If THAT does not make you smile, take a laxative!

    God bless,

    Karl

  12. Tancred, I'm not in your shoes so understand completely where you're coming from, don't risk your health and well being.
On the other hand.. I was thinking a couple of weeks back "wow, Eponymous has really taken off to be a leading traditional Catholic blog".

This no doubt is why you're feeling the heat. Bomber pilots know and used to drop their bombs right where they were getting the most flack. It means you're right over the target.

God bless you if your decision is final, you will be missed but you're needed in the fight.

I think you will feel better by April 2nd.

  16. If it an April fool's day joke, it's in rather poor taste.

However, if it's really true, then this was not a good day to post it on.
