Pixar to Release Cartoon for Centenary Fatima

Edit: a regular reader sent us this.   Is the message of the Gospel really so hard to communicate that we have to resort to these kinds of degrading, pedestrian portrayals of the divine?  The production values and spiritual sentiments of the man producing this are completely ill matched to the beauty and majesty of the message of Fatima.  They do not send the message, they degrade and demean it by such trivializing portrayals.  We shudder to think what the rest of the film looks like.

So impious, disrespectful, and blasphemous.....and the angels weep.

I pray it bombs.

It degrades the event and represents it as some sort of fairy tale. The artwork in particular is reminiscent of other pixmar films and it is difficult not to conclude that the story of Fatima is of the same genre.

This is all wrong for sure. Pixar is capable of incredible film-making, but the stories are all formulaic now, they have lost the spontaneous genius they once had. Now they use the formula to simply make money. Goofy characters, such as this representation of Angel of Peace, are totally wrong for a real and true event. This is sacrilege, and I certainly wouldn't see it.

Judeo-Masonic animated movie. Asa reader noted above: "It degrades the event and represents it as some sort fairy tale".
There is a reason our Lady chose those three shepherds.
1.- Purity
2.- Meekness
3.- Modesty in attire.
4.- Constant prayer. (They each prayed their rosary). In this "movie" it seems they swapped out the rosary for cellphones. And the girl's modest attire for pants.

Totally and completely imbecilic. A mockery of the Catholic Faith and the appearance of Our Lady to the children in Fatima. A perfect movie though, for "Catholics" who think the Church starts and ends with Pope Francis.

From Sunny:
A satanic view of the Fatima Miracle. A debauchery. Our Lady of Peace please pray for us!

"The day the sun danced"(the Musical commissioned by the Shrine of fatima). This was performed last May in the Pastoral Centre Paul VI in the Shrine of Fatima.

Wow, that is embarrassing to watch in so many ways.

The artistic style - both in medium and in character development - of the cartoon creates an artificial, idealized, and over-simplified world positively oozing with sentimentality. For tales like Finding Nemo or Toy Story or Cars, the style works because it is a way to make fish, cars, and toys more relatable in the make-believe, imaginary universe wherein they operate.

When this same style is used for stories in the real world, reality gets painfully distorted.

Because the Fatima story involves poverty, suffering, war, angels, devils, death, judgment, hell, and heaven - extreme reality - this style's limitations confront a barrier which they can probably never pass. As the author noted, reality gets trivialized.

Thought experiment on trivialization: are you familiar with those oh so sweet and saccharine "Precious Moments" figurines? Are you also familiar with the 21 Coptic martyrs beheaded by ISIS? How would you feel if the "Precious Moments" franchise tried to make its stylistic figurines (even if done with good intentions) for that event? Now maybe, just maybe, there would be a subtle way to respect reality, but it would be crazy hard to pull off via the "Precious Moments" medium.

Tangentially - perhaps - this Flannery O'Connor quote is worth bringing to bear here:
"If other ages felt less, they saw more, even though they saw with the blind, prophetical, unsentimental eye of acceptance, which is to say, of faith. In the absence of this faith now, we govern by tenderness. It is a tenderness which, long cut off from the person of Christ, is wrapped in theory. When tenderness is detached from the source of tenderness, its logical outcome is terror. It ends in forced-labor camps and in the fumes of the gas chamber."

@GMUA - Respectfully disagree with your very first assertion.

What is the purpose of this article? The author simply names the various conspiracy theories and calls them names. But she fails to prove why they are "false" and "dangerous".

Not impressed by Sandra "Meisel" at all.
