Jesuit Manuel Carreia: "Islam, the Worst Plague the Human Race Has EverSeen"

(Madrid) the famous astrophysicist and Jesuit, Father Manuel Carreira, has said "Islam, the worst plague that the human race has ever seen."

In an interview Carreira had indirectly responded  to a discussion on West Germany and said that one could not plausibly claim that "Islam is compatible with the rights of a European nation".

Astrophysicist and Jesuit

The Spaniard Manuel Maria Carreira Verez SJ became famous mainly as an astrophysicist, but also as a philosopher and theologian. Since 1974 he is a member of the Vatican Specula, was an employee at numerous NASA projects in the United States and taught more than 30 years at various universities, including the John Carroll University in the US and the Pontifical University of Comillas in Spain.

In an interview with El EspaƱol he addressed some current issues, including the migration crisis, the relationship between the West and Islam, and the relationship between the state and Church.

The State must preserve Christian heritage, he does not want to jeopardize its existence

"The state need not impose any specific religious behavior," but it has to be taken into account, that the Western countries are based on Christian ethics, because this has formed these States and made them what they are and what is necessary to defend.

"The Catholicity is a central key element in the development of the state", which applies to all of Western Europe. Therefore, the European countries could not accept the abolition of Christianity without putting their very existence at risk.

There is growing secularization, and this was "up to a certain point, even desirable, because religion must not be a political element." But the state has the task and duty to protect its Christian heritage as part of the common good.

Islam is "completely unable" to respect human dignity and human rights

Carreira mainly sees a threat to Western countries, and that is above all Islam. "I would say that Islam is the worst plague that  humanity has seen in the past 2000 years.". Islam is "completely unable" to develop, respect for human dignity.

For Muslims it is therefore "impossible to respect human rights and the Western tradition".

A Muslim in Europe "denies either this respect, then is an internal threat to Europe, or he accepts European thought, which means he is an unbeliever and is dead according to Islamic understanding." Either way, "there is no positive contribution by Islam to a modern society that is respectful of the fundamental rights of every human being," said Carreira.

Idea of the multicultural state "an intellectual blunder"

For this reason, the astrophysicist and Jesuit sees in the idea of a multicultural state an "intellectual blunder". It lacks any "reasonable relation to reality". Father Carreira said: "It seems to me that one can not plausibly claim that Islam is compatible with the rights of a European nation."

"Islam," said the Jesuit, "was created as decaffeinated Christianity because they simply have obscured what they did not understand in Christianity: one no longer talked about the Trinity, nor the incarnation of God for the simple reason that they had not understood it. "Therefore, Islam is a 7th - 9th Century developing form of "a minimalist distorted Christianity" with its "own theology," which is of a  "very simple thinking."

  1. there we have it! Only soft-headed befuddled liberal modernists and their cronies would ever give Mahomatenism any credence at all. It is backward thinking: without oil on this Earth, they would be nowhere right now. There is going to be Hell to pay for all the damage the liberals have done to Europe and The Roman Catholic Church as a consequence of their errant idiocy. Liberalism is a plague too and an intellectual deceit.

  2. oh say can you see by the dawns early light..the lesson of WWII and most importantly...the lesson of Constantinople..the Islamist built a fort across from St. Sophia... they were everywhere and surprise.. they were soon in army strength at the walls of Constantinople..the only help could come from the Pope..yet the orthodox clergy refused to reconcile with The Holy Roman Catholic Church . even though they and the Emperor had promised to do so at the council of Florence..the fall of Constantinople was the greatest tragedy of the 20th century.. and the most terrible.. Now is the time to cast aside all petty differences and return home.

    1. Constantinople fell in May 1453 (the 15th century), unless you refer to the establishment of the modern Turkish state in the 20th century.

      Otherwise, I agree with you.

    2. The clergy and Emperor in Hagia Sophia as Constantinople fell were in union with the Pope.

  3. The Jihad extends world wide, and all peoples are divided either into dar al-Harb - the land of War' - by which is meant any country belonging to non-Muslims that has not yet been subdued by Islam; or the dar al-Islam - the land of Islam', signifying a country where all the precepts of the Qur'an are observed strictly.
Australia, Papua New Guinea, New Zealand and all western, free, democratic countries are, in Islamic terms, dur al-Harb or lands of War' where Muslims may legitimately, in fact are obliged, to do all they can to bring about the dominance of Islam. Any war-like act against non- Muslims in a dur al-Harb - which has no legal right to exist - is lawful and just.

    3. I thought the same thing, Max. Sort of like Benedict's recent concession that Vat 2 wasn't so good for the Church---and he was one of the big architects of Vat 2.

Wish this was true for Jorge as well, but I think his whole formation was corrupted from the get go so maybe he doesn't know any better. OR he is a son of Satan carrying out his master's wishes.

  6. Brilliant comment. If only priests, bishops, cardinals and the pope would preach the Church's teaching:
"Christ, the Son of God made man, is the Father's one, perfect and unsurpassable Word. In him he has said everything; there will be no other word than this one... Christian faith cannot accept "revelations" that claim to surpass or correct the Revelation of which Christ is the fulfilment, as is the case in certain nonChristian religions and also in certain recent sects which base themselves on such "revelations"."

  8. Islam is only attractive to people in the West because the West has rejected Catholicism. Relativism which makes all 'truths' equal is really a rejection of reason. It offers nothing to man who is created with a need for God. The secularized, relativist, liberal West leaves its uneducated, unformed and religious illiterate citizens undefended against the lie of Islam. The West is doomed without God and the Catholic Church.

  17. This sounds like a really good way to build peace and harmony in a multi-faith world: condemn one whole religion as false and dangerous and set yourself up as possessed of all truth. If he believes this he should be calling for a new Crusade to wipe out the plague of Islam from the world, or at least Europe. Only divine providence could have protected the Jesuits from making this man their leader. He should stick to astrophysics

condemning whole religions as false and dangerous and set Himself up as possessed of all truth is EXACTLY what Christ did; and He gave the Holy Spirit as the soul of His Church to continue the mission of Baptizing ALL nations in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. This is a good and holy priest that you mock, you anti-christ, judas, poseur.

  18. You are welcome, Mr. Dualism. If you read the Gospels you will find that Christ is a teacher above all of non-dualism and non-violence. If that does not mean that we who follow him should seek to live at peace in diversity with others who do not (yet) accept him we should give up calling ourselves Christian.

  19. Nonsense! While atheism spreads its poison throughout the West, Islam is blamed for all evils. Fr. Carreia. you watch/read too much from the liberal media. It is NOT Islam that is killing unborn children, it's not Islam that is promoting sexual deviance among the young, and it's not Islam that is pushing a "right" to suicide for the mentally ill and disabled.

    2. Me Irish brother just returned from a three year civilian contractor job in Afghanistan which was not continuous. He was very quick to talk of "man-boy" Thursdays which is the day before the holy day. Women are preparing for the Friday visit to the mosque. Therefore, men are allowed sexual relations with younger males.--You also have to remember that Saturday is only an off work day in the morning. The afternoon is part of the work week and Sunday has no significance at all. The u.s. military had a number of profiled "run-ins" over this issue. With President Obama, the military was warned not to interfere with the customs and social beliefs of the country even if these issues surfaced on joint operational military posts. The morality of u.s. officers was told to "put it in a box" and ignore blatant activity even if seen in the living quarters of joint military living conditions or be disciplined accordingly.

  22. It's a rape culture that also promotes the total objectification of women, pedophilia of young boys and polygamy. Those are all considered sexually deviant by the pre-Vatican 2 church at least. The new church just considers those things as diversity which we should embrace and accompany. Yeay.

  26. Jesuit Manuel Carreia is terrible mistaken(probably due to the socialist goggles he sports). Nothing compares to the vast number of abortions committed in the last 100 years. 1.7 billion and counting. And then there are the spontaneous abortions caused by the pill. And know this, Jesus has watched each and every one. The evil wrought by Islam may be distant #2. "There are no 'truly grave moral' or 'proportionate' reasons, singularly or combined that could outweigh the millions of innocent human lives that are directly killed by abortion each year." 28. I agree with the good reverend and there are not many modern Jesuits with whom I agree. Pope Francis has supported an economic cause for abortion and the forgiveness and mercy for those who engage in its practice. It can be said as well that he believes in an economic cause for Islam. His entire papacy is based on an economic interpretation of the Gospel. "My kingdom is not of this world".

    1. There are indeed a lot of negatives re the Pope and his onto-rage, but there is no doubt that Islam’s Theology differs greatly from mainstream Christianity. The two faith are independent of each other, and are mutually exclusive . Now some dim witted politicians are under the impression, that modern man is wholly different from his former self of 500 years ago, obviously these sad individuals are no respectors of 20th century history. When ignorance is allowed to dictate and organise nations, trouble is sure to follow... when will this fragmented social experiment fall apart, I don’t know, but look around, you would need to be wilfully blind to not see racialy motivated troubles on the horizon.... in this world the lion can lay down with the lamb, but only one will see tomorrow
