Vatican Preparing Statement on Extraterrestrial Life

Edit: hold on to your rosaries.

[Examiner] Pope Francis is reportedly preparing a major world statement about extraterrestrial life and its theological implications. Rosana Ubanell from Voxxi News today reported that due to advances in scientific detection methods for the discovery of extraterrestrial life, Pope Francis wants to be ready with a statement about “First Contact”. Ubanell reports that details have yet to be officially announced but that the Vatican’s interest in extraterrestrial life is well documented through recent astrobiology conferences the Vatican Observatory has sponsored or participated in. Father Guy Consolmagno, a Jesuit astronomer and one of the leading Catholic proponents for preparing for the scientific discovery of extraterrestrial life, on July 18, won the Carl Sagan science medal from the American Astronomical Society. Pope Francis, a fellow Jesuit, regularly consults with Consolmagno and other leading Vatican astronomers about scientific issues. It is likely that Pope Francis is preparing an “Urbi et Orbi” speech – Latin for “to the city [of Rome] and the world” – about First Contact with extraterrestrial life.

    1. The ORIGINAL NEWS is not like that. theres nothing new, they are talking the same thing as before... about the possibility with the science... to find something... and a Pope must be prepared for that moment..."if that happens"...(and it will be a big lie, Apostasy) but im explaining the original content and sense.. This one, same thing that they said before many times. ORIGINAL: http://voxxi.com/2014/07/23/vatican-prepares-aliens/

  2. An encyclical on life issues here on Earth, such as cloning and biorobotics, might be nice as well.

  4. The Holy Office, in 1950 did broach this issue, on whether aliens could be baptized. The answer was No. Christ came to redeem the people of this earth.

  5. Perhaps Pope Francis has been watching too many episodes of the 1960's 'Star Trek'. Many scientists consider the occurrence of life in the universe to be rare, and intelligent life to be very rare. Any extra-terrestial intelligent life we encounter will not be in any way anthropomorphic and will be profoundly alien, thereby severely limiting any meaningful communication. Indeed it is likely the disparity between the two life forms, 'us and them', will be so great that communication will be meaningless if not impossible.
Consider this; human life and insect life have a distant, very distant, common origin, but is communication between these species possible? No! How greater must be the profundity of the abyss separating 'life' which has developed at great distances of both time and space.

    1. There is no evidence of any link between human beings and insects, or any other species, in fact

    2. Lynda, haven't you heard of DNA? It is the informational code used by all plant and animal life. All the sub-cellular 'machinery' such as mitochondria, ribosomes, messenger and transfer RNA, all are common to plant and animal life.....including us!

Point one. Human bodies and plant life is made up of cells and both need oxygen. That does mean we are part radish. Although there are quite a few fruit among us.

Point two. Extraterrestial life would be demons.

    4. Why do some 'traditional' Catholics display their lamentable scientific ignorance as if it is something to be applauded and proud of. Quite amazing!

    5. No, I repeat there is no evidence of any link between human beings and any other species. Cellular structures and genetic design is no such evidence. This is a fallacy of logic. Common features do not speak to how a species came into being. (I'm sorry to see how many people have been sold metaphysical ideas and given the false impression that these ideas are supported by observation using scientific method.)

    6. A better question would be why some Catholics continue to belief in an unsubstantiated myth of evolution and deny the dogmas of the faith and the clear words of Scripture and consistency in their thinking because they want to imagine themselves as 'educated' and 'scientific' to their secular peers.

Science has come a long way (well, technically, it took a turn for the worse under the guidance of atheist materialism) to prove that the fable of Darwinian Evolution is utterly bunk. An unobserved and totally unproven myth that tries to extrapolate from what we observe in rapid speciation and claims that a downward genetic losing mechanism somehow magically created new genes and information that did not exist before. Common sense informs a child that he can only be born with as much genetic information as his two parents carry. He does not spontaneously produce more. He can however lose some via mutation. Evolution of this scale has never been observed, would hypothetically still demand millions of years to pass to validate by our current methods, and there isn't even the remotest shred of an explanation from its adherents that isn't a laughable ad hoc connivance spurned out from a deluded imagination without any shred of what is properly called science.

Belief in aliens is based solely on evolutionary fairy tales, where one must reject Divine Revelation that informs us that it is only the Earth that was created suitable for life. There is no other intelligent life out there other than the angelic beings, and there is a lot of interesting documentation that the so called alien encounters and abductions are precisely equal to those symptoms found in demon hauntings and possessions. It is remarkable even to learn of the account of that one woman who served as the inspiration for Spielberg's 'Close Encounters of the 3rd kind' to know of that instance whereupon she, out of fear, was calling upon the name of God and Jesus, and remarked that these powerful 'aliens' suddenly became distressed and shrank back and began pleading whenever she evoked God. And it is remarkabel to hear of those abductees who begin by claiming those aliens are preaching a 'Gospel' warning of disaster and calling for care of the planet and rejects any notion of a Christian God, but presents something else that sounds like a new age substitute. An 'alien Christ'.

It is no secret that the Vatican Observatory and academy has secular atheists on its board, and that the Jesuit priests there are all staunch evolutionists and that these modernists are the ones likely now pushing for mixing more poison into the well of Catholic doctrine.

  12. In the search for extra-terrestial intelligent life a more pertinent question needs to be asked; does intelligent life exist on earth? In our search we can ignore the Vatican City, that piece of real estate seems devoid of intelligent life.
