New FSSP Parish in Minneapolis of All Places

Edit: this parish was one of those which was slated for closing, now it's being given new life.  We'd earlier felt that the Archbishop's subordinates were being deliberately unfair in their choice of parishes to close, but this really makes up for that.
Minneapolis is one of the more Liberal cities in the United States.  Its conservative working class community in Northeast Minneapolis should appreciate this.
Here is the Archbishop's letter:
June 22, 2013
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
I am happy to announce that the parish of All Saints of Minneapolis will have a pastor and an associate to serve you beginning next month.
minneopolis-all-saints5As you have likely seen and heard in parish communications over the past few months, the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter has offered to send two of its members to care for the parish of All Saints, which has been without a pastor for more than a year. After consultation with your parish trustees and your parish pastoral council, as well as the presbyteral council, a representative body of priests from across the Archdiocese, I have accepted the Fraternity’s offer.
Father Peter Bauknecht and Father Simon Harkins will begin their service at All Saints on July 3, 2013. Fr. Bauknecht will serve as pastor.
As you may know, the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter is a Catholic Clerical Society of Apostolic Life dedicated to providing Catholics access to the extraordinary form of the liturgy according to the liturgical books of 1962. You can find out more about the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter at their website: www.fssp.org. Mass in the extraordinary form will be offered at All Saints. Mass in the current form to which you are accustomed will be offered, as well. A Mass schedule will be established, in consultation with All Saints parish leadership.
Please join me in welcoming Father Bauknecht and Father Harkins. I will be praying for these priests as they begin service in your parish and I ask that you join me supporting their work through prayer, as well.
With every good wish, I am,
Cordially yours in Christ,
Most Reverend John C. Nienstedt

The Most Reverend John C. Nienstedt
Archbishop of Saint Paul and Minneapolis

  2. Well, that's great news. Minneapolis has been a "dark hole" for adoration and the EF Mass, compared to the rest of the counties of the Metro Area.

And All Saints is within maybe seven miles of a dozen or so parishes, all in competition with each other. So it will be good to have them here. They are within a half mile of Our Lady of Lourdes, where I'm registered and from St. Anthony's where I'm in a chant schola on First Saturdays.

  4. They'll be good to go. As long as they don't try to correct any errors of Vaticon II.

  6. So this church will have both the Latin and Novus Ordo so it will not be a fully traditional church. For those who think it doesn't matter what mass you go to then they won't care but for those who are "fully" traditional and know the dangers of the protestant Novus Ordo then they will not be able to go there. The freemasons know full well what they are doing to destroy the church from within and the apostasy continues.

    1. “We declare, say, define, and pronounce that it is absolutely necessary for the salvation of every human creature to be subject to the Roman Pontiff.” (Pope Boniface VIII, the Bull Unam Sanctam, 1302.)

  7. "extraordinary form of the liturgy"

Ugh, that term again. God bless the bishop for doing something good, but I just can't stand hearing the two liturgies implicitly held up on the same level. Two 'forms,' pick whatever you like. Why can we just go back to 'Traditional Latin Mass' or 'Traditional Mass' again?

  8. The NO really cant compete with the New Mass on a level playing field.

  9. Yep, that's for sure. It's just the constant use of that goofy phrase that makes my ears burn. Yuck.

  10. You can always go to the SSPX Chapel in St. Paul at : Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 875 Manomin Avenue S. St. Paul, MN 55107, Phone # 651-224-5944. I left the Novus Ordo Mess 15 years ago and never looked back. It is a danger to anyone's Catholic Faith.

  11. As for the clock showing the time for Cdl. Mahony's retirement, I would ask the Lord to take him to heaven tomorrow. Judgment will follow and he will get his just desserts.
