Cardinal Dolan Gives Sacrilegious Communion to Biden?

Eternal damnation can be funny...

Edit: so much for all that talk about the evils of abortion.
Vice President Joe Biden attended mass and received communion on Sunday at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York where the mass was celebrated by Cardinal Timothy Dolan.
At a time when the administration is being sued by Dolan and the Catholic Bishop’s Conference over the Obama health care provision on birth control, the meeting was seen as an attempt to create a new dialogue.
An Irish American Catholic, Biden receiving communion was also seen as significant. Dolan’s predecessor Cardinal Edward Egan refused to give communion to those who differed with the church on the abortion issue.

  1. Dolan is no better than Biden. He's a politician too. Some of Pope Benedict's appointments, I do not know, what he was thinking.

  2. Yeh, a politician. It is all disgraceful. My selfish solace in this one is that I don't live in N,Y. . I wish there was a brave soul( like Tancred for instance ) to call C. Dolan out on it face to face. I do wonder if anyone ever does.

    1. I live in NY. I try to use Card. Dolan's blog to convey my thoughts about what he says and does. It is the most direct way to tell him what you think and know that he has received your comments. The Cardinal has said in the past that he got lots of criticism from his inviting Obama to the Al Smith dinner. But he is very stubborn and convinced that his hail-fellow-well-met approach is the way. In my wildest imagination, I see a day when Dolan will be publicly humiliated, frogmarched on Fifth Avenue right in front of what was once called St. Patrick's Cathedral, by the evil men he seeks to win over with beer, bows and cigars.

  3. I think I heard Cardinal Dolan say to Biden, 'Come on now Joe. You really must stop disobeying the Church and causing others to do so. Wink,Nod, Ahhhhahaha' . Maybe I just dreamed that.

  5. To speak frankly, Cardinal Dolan, among other things, is an incompetent who should never have been raised to the Cardinalate. Not only is he not competent to hold the position he does but he is not and has never been a serious man. He is everything a Prince of the Church should not be: he is cowardly, frivolous, puffed up, theologically illiterate, a politician and a loudmouth. He schmoozes, cajoles and insinuates.

Why Pope Benedict raised him to such a dignity is incomprehensible, but then, why were people like Wuerl, Mahony and Law given red hats? A Church that honors such men is a Church in a deplorable state.

    1. Ditto. Every very sad but very true word. But I think given that we are laboring under an occupation of The Church this is to be expected. But oh what a glorious triumph of the Immaculate Heart this will make when it happens.

Thank God Almighty for Archbishop Lefebvre and the SSPX. If not for their constant reminder of what Catholic priests and bishops are truly like, I would have put a paper bag over my head and hidden myself away long ago for the sheer SHAME of being linked with the likes of Dolan and Wuerl, who despite the public atrocities they commit, keep getting elevated higher and higher.

  6. I keep wondering why Tallyrand, Richelieu, Ireland or Gibbons and their ilk were made Bishops much less some of them Cardinals.

  8. Well said DAN.Every word is chosen aptly to narrate this Disgraceful Cardinal..How did, Pope Emeritus, Benedict XVI chose to elevate him.He does not have any seriousness and Grace on his face to look like a Cardinal.
I cannot imagine how could people desire him to be a Pope contender!I can understand the pain and tolerance of good Catholics in New York city.

Let us pray for him during this week.

  10. Regarding Canon 915 - please see: "APOSTOLIC CONSTITUTION SACRAE DISCIPLINAE LEGES of the SUPREME PONTIFF POPE JOHN PAUL II for the PROMULGATION of the NEW CODE OF CANON LAW" on the Vatican web site. It contains the following sentence. "Finally, the canonical laws by their very nature must be observed." Note the word “MUST”.
Any Cardinal, Bishop or Priest who KNOWINGLY gives Holy Communion to a public heretic or schismatic - is being disobedient to the Magisterium. In addition they are aiding and abetting in Scandal and Sacrilege.
(In addition to Canon # 915, please see Code # 1399.)

  11. Cardinal Dolan does have a bite, but he's not a "dog of the Lord." As many observe, he has the power to undermine the faith more effectively than the pro-abort politicians he pals around with and gives Communion to. As a lifelong member of the Archdiocese of New York, if this were Biblical times, I'd be in sackcloth and ashes.

It's becoming clearer how His Eminence can champion the cause of Dorothy Day. She also paid lip service to the Commandments and teachings of the Church while she decried "sexual immorality" at Catholic Worker farms but did nothing. She proclaimed publicly that she would obey if ordered to change her paper's name even after she had refused to do so. Dolan has extolled her for her "prophetic disobedience." Carol Byrne's "The Catholic Worker Movement (1933-1980): A Critical Analysis" documents Day's deficiencies, which it is becoming obvious Cardinal Dolan also shares and embraces.

We need an Archbishop of New York who is not a "cheesehead" and follows Canon Law.

  12. Dolan was made a cardinal by Ratzinger because he hid money in Milwaukee that should have been given to victims of sexual abuse. When Archbishop Diarmuid Martin in Dublin took a strong stance on abuse and cover-ups, his reward was not to be made a cardinal. Let's hope and pray the appointments under Francis are quite different.

    1. Archbishop Diarmuid Martin is a relentless Leftist termite who has jumped aboard the abuse hysteria to create a name for himself at the expense of the Church.
