SSPX Benedictine Says Mass at Desolate 1,000 Year Old Monastery

Sensation

Pius Benedictine Saying Mass at
Michealsberg Monastery
At the end of the thousand year history of the Benedictine Abbey on the Michealsberg there is yet another Old Mass being said for which the old monastery had been built in the first place.

(kreuz.net, Siegburg)  On May 25th the SSPX Benedictine Bernhard Huber said the levitical High Mass in the Abbey Church of St. Michealsberg in Siegburg.

The 40,000 population city of Siegburg is some 35 km south east of Cologne.

The local Benedictine Abbey has been closed after an almost 1,000 year history.  It will in the meantime be transformed into a hotel and serve as an Old Liberal adult miseducation.

The house full of glory is in desolation

Father Huber celebrated Mass at the Michealsberg as part of a pilgrimage with about 100 traditionalists from the surrounding area.

At the end of the Mass they sang the hymn "A house full of glory shines far over the land, from every stone built by God's mighty hand."

The text of this song was written by the poet and priest, Fr. Joseph Mohr (1848 +), at the moment he saw the now dissolved Abbey on the Michealsberg.

The Vatican is helping the Archdiocese of Cologne Hop

The Old Mass at the Michealsberg was clearly only possible after an intervention from the Vatican.

This is from a report at the German website of the SSPX 'pius.info.com'.

Because in his sermon, Father Huber thanked the Vatican authorities for the permission to be allowed to celebrate the pilgrimage Mass.

It was not mentioned that tho authorities of the Archdiocese of Cologne were causing difficulties.

Blasphemy: German Parish Displays Pornographic "Art"

Diocese of Münster:  The hate of the Conciliar Sect in the Church is put on display -- it shows itself in sexual depravity and an aversion to the holy.  In the Diocese of the Lion, no less..

(kreuz.net, Münster) From the 26th of February to the 15th of April a pornography expedition was held in the church of St. Erpho in Münster, Westphalia.

The pornography expedition bore the misleading title "Between Caritas and Eros -- Love".

Really Infamous

One of the church sponored "paintings" features a woman raising her shirt to reveal her bare breasts that's been smeared on an old Mass book.  The page on which this is done is August 9th, the Feast of St. John Vianney.

Women are portrayed as playthings in various nakedly erotic themes in sick sex fantasies.  Of course, you can bet that the argument against philistinism will be employed.

Kreuznet goes into some detail about the various paintings and has pictures at its website, they are clearly pornographic and blasphemous.

It's one thing when those who are not Catholic mock our beliefs, but it's especially incredible when those who are sworn to defend and declare the Catholic Faith, as clearly the pastor of this parish was sworn to do, promote such blasphemy themselves.

Ancient Siegburg Monastery Swamped by Swarms of Bargain Hunters

Edit: bargain hunters (locusts) swarmed the monastery, took everything and left a pittance behind.  Consecrated items may NOT be sold, so the monk in charge allowed the throng to take what they wanted in return for a good-will offering... what ensued was a disgrace.

Clearance sale in the moribund Benedictine Monastery of Siegburg: The bargain hunters have nearly broken down the doors.

(kreuz.net) About 700 interested -- above all flee market sellers and other salesmen from alll of the North Rhein - Westphalia area stormed the Abbey flee market in Siegburg on Sunday afternoon on the 15th of April.

This was according to the online edition of Bonn's 'General-Anzeiger'.

Giant Rush

The flee market was supposed to have begun at 11:00.  Actually a newspaper gave 10:00 as the start.

Thus, the doors were opened a half-hour earlier.

The rush was so largeg, that visitors had to be rejected.

"Carlesss Pushing and Shoving"

705  objects were up for sale -- from spoons to religious oil paintings.  In less than ten minutes, everything was gone.

300 crucifixes were dragged away in crates.  A loud argument broke out around a single picture.

The 'General-Anzeiger'  spoke of a "carless pushing and shoving".

Someone tore a crucifix from the hand of an eight year old boy.

Covers from the tables were torn off, which weren't even set up for sale.

Everything for a donation

The event didn't quite follow the prescriptions of canon law.

This reads that religious objects, which are not to be used any longer are either destroyed or must be given for private use.

A sale of objects is not allowed.  For that reason, a donation is asked.

4067 Euro all together came from that.  They should flow into the retirement fund of the former Siegburger monks.

Like a Closeout Sale

The flee market was directed by Brother Linus (27).  He has the task of liquidating the Abbey.

His commentary:  "People came around like at a closeout sale at the Galeria Mall."

After this experience, Brother Linus wants to organize the book market planned for June "completely differently".

There are about 60,000 books.

Germany: The End of a Monastery Church

Edit: what was painstakingly rebuilt with much sacrifice after the war will disappear in a short while.  The Diocese looks like a beneficiary of the end of a century of religious life in this locale.  Spiritual capital frittered away...

What took generations to build will now be destroyed.  The last thing the Pastoral Council implements is the bulldozer.
A Case for the Bull Dozer?

(kreuz.net)  For the people of Bochum it is gruesome to see, how a work, which has stood for a century will be destroyed.

It is the monastery church of the Redemptorists at Imbuschplatz in the town of Bochum.

It was erected in the years between 1868 to 1870.

Destroyed in the War

The Cloister church was completely  burned in the confusion of war through the bombing of the Anglo-American air forces in 1943.

Immediately after the end of the war the rebuilding began immediately with greatest sacrifices of the remaining parishioners.

Dr. Ing Huber Vieth was foremost in the effort then.

In a blameless situation

Initially, 18 years ago the eastern front of the giant nave was completely sheathed in copper.

The windows were double paned.

The was in a intact condition and had no structural deficiencies.

Under the laws regarding monuments in the city of Bochum there was no inducement to put the newly completed construction under protection.

Consequently things took their course.

The Demolition Work Has Begun

The last eight Redemptorists under the leadership of Father Wolfgang Gerhards (71) have given up the cloister already in January of 2011.

The youngest of them was 60, and the eldest 91.

The order has suffered the loss of much of its dynamism since the Pastoral Council.

Bishop Franz Josef Overbeck of Essen clearly had no interest or possibility to hold the cloister.

Thus, the demolition work has begun.

The Lazy Fruits of the Council

Who knows, who hides behind the new bearer --- perhaps the Aachen Residential Building Association, that the Diocese of Essen has a 61 percent share in?

It was the case with other church demolitions in the Diocese of Essen.

In the Diocese of Essen more than 130 churches have been simply locked up already by the order of the Bishop.

Denial Runs Rampant as San Francisco Diocese Discusses Women Religious

Edit: It's really disappointing that the Apostolic Visitation which was meant to address the "issues" related to US Women Religious has degenerated into a vague pat on the back. Meanwhile, the good that's been done by orders of traditional sisters who are living out their vocations in good faith and who are now experiencing tremendous growth, are ignored.

People who are addicted to alcohol will do anything to avoid talking about the problems that lead up to their life's problems. When you're addicted to Modernism, you'll do anything to avoid talking about the solution to the problems which ail you, especially when you claim to be a Catholic religious.

It's what one Bishop calls a dialog of the blind deaf and dumb. They pretend that the problem isn't there, when the embrace of "Social Justice" and novelty is choking the life out of these moribund old orders and the Catholic Faith they once claimed and protected.

The only growth that this nun, Sister Rosina, sees is in the "developing" countries, which she views as an opportunity for "diversity, new prayer forms" and "cultural expressions". What she really means is that the Church will become more irrelevant and she can keep collecting a six figure salary.
Last Dec. 10, 95 women religious representing 21 religious congregations met with Archbishop George Niederauer, Auxiliary Bishop William J. Justice and Auxiliary Bishop Robert W. McElroy at St. Cecilia Church in San Francisco to hear a panel presentation on the future of religious life.

Catholic San Francisco spoke with Presentation Sister Rosina Conrotto, director of the office of women religious for the Archdiocese of San Francisco, after the event.

Catholic San Francisco: What is your personal view of religious life and the role of women religious going forward?

Sister Rosina: Religious life, no matter what form it takes, will always be a gift in the church. As women religious we’re called to live consecrated lives of poverty, chastity and obedience and to respond to the needs of our time. Our response can be through direct service, through prayer and through the witness of our lives as we strive to live the Gospel values of justice, compassion and respect for the dignity of all persons and for all creation. Forms may change, but the commitment will remain the same.[It means more bad Liturgy, more heretical teaching, more Modernism.]

Bishop Emeritus Sues Faithful Priest in Texas

Edit: Father Rodriguez gives fairly non-controversial talks and homilies for a Catholic priest, but they don't like that in the Diocese. It's pretty telling when you're not only fired from your job for teaching the Catholic Faith, but sued by your own former superior. Is there anyone who believes that this isn't a case a vindictive man attacking someone whose manner of life points an accusing finger at him?
JANUARY 12, 2012 PRESS RELEASE by Fr. Michael Rodríguez It is unfortunate that Bishop Armando Ochoa, Administrator of the Diocese of El Paso and no longer our bishop, has decided to pursue legal action against me. Such legal action is unjust.
Over the course of 9 1/2 years as the parish priest of San Juan Bautista Catholic Church, I poured my heart and soul into caring for this parish, both in terms of temporal goods, and especially spiritual goods. I'm confident that hundreds of my former parishioners will eagerly testify to this. In his January 11, 2012, press release, Bishop Ochoa stated, "Fr. Rodríguez's handling and use of donated funds has compromised the financial integrity of San Juan Bautista."

This is not true. Bishop Ochoa's statement also refers to "Fr. Rodríguez's mishandling of funds." Again, this is not true. I have always honored, respected, and made good use of the financial patrimony of San Juan Bautista. I stake my entire reputation on this claim.

On September 20, 2011, I opened my heart to my bishop, like a son to a father, and was completely honest and forthcoming with him as to the financial affairs of San Juan Bautista. I told him everything. He chose not to believe me. For the past four months, my canon lawyer has made repeated efforts to resolve this matter with Most Rev. Armando Ochoa, and he has refused.

Los Angeles Archdiocese Sends Traitor Bishop Off with Golden Parachute

Edit: Kind of interesting the way they’ll pull out the stops to support a man who’s betrayed trust, but often as not attempt to destroy those who do horrible things like offer the Tridentine Mass and teach the Catholic Faith.

It's almost as if they're happy for him and sending him happily on his way.  The good news is that this Old Liberal won't be overtly destroying the Church, although he is likely to become a poster child for those disobedient sorts who mistakenly believe a married clergy is a silver bullet for the exceedingly rare cases where priests sexually abuse minors.  Father Z indicates that he was president of Pax Christi, the USA Chapter and of the international “Peace” Movement.  That's fairly damning, isn't it?

He brings back memories of Bishop Shannon, another humanae vitae dissenter, who was himself never very comfortable with the Catholic religion but somehow managed to be promoted.

VATICAN CITY — Los Angeles Auxiliary Bishop Gabino Zavala has resigned after disclosing to superiors that he was the father of two children.
The Vatican announced the bishop’s resignation today in a one-line statement that cited church law on resignation for illness or other serious reasons.
Los Angeles Archbishop Jose Gomez announced the “sad and difficult” news in a letter to Catholics in the archdiocese. He said Bishop Zavala, who was auxiliary bishop for the San Gabriel Pastoral Region, had informed him in early December that he was the father of two minor teenage children who live with their mother in another state.

Siebenburg Abbey to Close After 947 Years

Edit: what was uncertain before is now looking more certain, and these Abbeys are being sold for a song.

"No one can understand this pain who isn't involved."

That the thousand year old Benedictine Abbey on the Michealsberg in Siegburg can not last any longer has been known for a year. Since then there has been increasing speculation about the future use of the buildings. Rumours have been heating up, from the tasteless April Fool's joke in the local press, which proposed to turn it into a shopping center, to the sad development that the former Redemptorist Cloister 5 kilometers distant, will be turned into an "event center".

The withdrawal of the Benedictine presence has been entrusted to the last Monk on the Michealsberg, Brother Linus OSB, who has put his opinion on the current situation into words, which could only move:

"There is no correspondence to fact that the Abbey will be used for a commercial purpose. In the last two weeks I've only clearly told the daily "General-Anzeiger", that a purely spiritual use in the future is improbable. From that it was said that the Abbey will have a commercial use, which I consider a distortion of my words.

These are rumors sent into the world, which have no basis.

Neither 'kreuz.net' nor the Cologne 'Stade-Anzeiger" -- or any one else -- can describe the pain which we Siegburger Monks have experienced in the last Months. We must give up our home, the place of our monastic stabilitas. Decadence has been ascribed to us. But here there are Monks -- for example Father Mauritius -- who've seen sixty long years of dedicated service.

I know entire back ground. And on this I have to say: things have also been unfair to the Archdiocese of Cologne. Several of us Benedictines have been addressed as well by the Cardinal. There was really nothing untried in order to find a solution, which is possible and would do justice to the place.

Many participants and inquirers were horrified by the giant buildings with 21,000 cubic meters. We have looked for months to find a solution. I went to a visitor conference of the Benedictine Congregation of Subiaco in Brazil, in order to get a promise [votum] from our Congregation.

It really shocks me, when I see how the reactions are. In stead of praying for the Church, for the good way of a neighbor, we are publicly denounced in some quarters. As in the past, so we are also keeping the public informed -- as to the future of the Abbey. At the current moment there is nothing that is newsworthy.

I can't completely address the entirety of the speculations. They damage the Abbey and do not serve the subject. The only thing for it is time and patience.

We monks have to have to know about so many things. It is said to us that Siegburg is losing a "spiritual center", which makes people sad and, ahh, how important the Abbey actually has become in people's lives. How it has gone though with us monks during the events of the last months -- has been seldom inquired about outside the Church. It can hardly be conceived how it is for me to end 947 years of history and tradition.

As it is, evenings alone are like the way of the Cross for me, the empty refectory and the Kalefactorium [Scriptorium]-- as it is "my" Cloister which I must see die. No one could understand this pain, who isn't involved."

Together with the above explanation about their situation, is this recommended reading for all who dare to believe and utter the lie about the "new springtime after the Council".

Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host -
by the Divine Power of God -
cast into hell, Satan and all the evil spirits,
who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

In Germany, a thousand years of Christianity is at an end. The propagated form of "opening to the world" has not achieved the expected goals. And where one could assume 40 years ago a "mistake in good faith" that is with those who hold in the face of bankruptcy in this course, almost impossible. The "unworldliness" of the Church can not be arrested or prevented by Episcopal Conferences. It happens. In goods like in the situation with the Weltbild situation long destroying the Church, and in lesser goods such as this manifestation of the fact that a Monastery like Michaelberg is for the vast majority, at best, of only folkloric significance. The minority is involved, and they suffers alongside.
