Cardinal Sarah to Europe's Governments: "How many deaths does it take until the leaders understand the situation?"

"How many deaths does it take, how many severed heads, for European leaders to understand the situation in which the West is?"
Robert Cardinal Sarah, Guinea, prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments of the Catholic Church in Rome, on the murder of Abbé Jacques Hamel and the Muslim perpetrators in the past Wochen.verübten attacks in France and Germany.

Cardinal Sarah: Words of Consecration Mean "For Many" and not, "For All"

Cardinal Robert Sarah in discussion with Infovaticana
(Madrid) Cardinal Robert Sarah, Prefect of the Roman Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments expressed  his hope that the Church in Spain would introduce "in the coming year," the words of consecration pro multis.
In 2006, Pope Benedict XVI. approved a decree of the Congregation, to more accurately adjust the translation of the words of consecration in the local language to reflect the Church's Latin language and the Gospels.
Cardinal Arinze, Prefect of the Congregation of Divine Worship 2002-2008, wrote to all bishops' conferences:
"The Bishops' Conferences of the countries where currently the wording 'for all' or an equivalent of it are in use, are therefore requested to provide the faithful in the next one to two years with the necessary catechesis on this issue in order to prepare for the introduction an accurate translation of the phrase pro multis  in the local languages- for example, for many, 'by molti', etc. That will be the case for the next translations of the Roman Missal, which will allow for its use in various countries, by the bishops and the Holy See. "

Defaulting Episcopal Conferences

That was ten years ago. Some Bishops' Conferences responded, including those of the US. The English-speaking put the reform through first. The new Spanish translation of the Missal is long finished and has already been implemented by some countries, including Mexico. Other countries are delaying, including Spain, Italy and the German-speaking world.
In Spain, the new translation was even approved by the Episcopal Conference, but it has not yet been implemented. To the north and south of the Alps, in the German and Italian areas, it seems to be understood that the election of Pope Francis has offered a "breathing space" to be able to delay the matter.
The initial justification named was for discussion and a consensus, then the necessary completion and publication of a new missal translation and finally "difficulties" because the faithful would not understand the "change".
The German bishops were so cunning that they initially reinterpreted every implementation of the papal requirement in an arbitrary dialectical word game for "disobedience." Some priests, who felt the faithfulness to Gospel in the words of consecration were important had, namely, started to implement  Benedict's mandatory order on their own.
The words of consecration  were "always pro multis and never pro omnibus "
Equally paradoxical was the assertion that the people were not properly informed, since that task had been expressly delegated to the bishops. If believers are not sufficiently informed, then this is due to the bishops. In German-speaking countries there were even no efforts for ten years after the papal decision binding for the whole universal Church.
Now In Spain it seems to be working. Cardinal Sarah said this during his recent visit to Spain to InfoVaticana:
"I hope that in 2017 the Mass will be celebrated in Spain Mass with the pro multis."
The "exact translation" of the Latin pro multis  in Spanish is "per muchos" (for many) and not "per todos" (for all). This is the way it's translated through the Gospels, which is why  there is the order, obligation and desire to adhere to it.
Cardinal Sarah called this to mind that in the Roman Rite it was "always pro multis and never pro omnibus."

Clarín: "Will Pope Francis Carry Out a Historical Turning Point for the Divorced and Remarried"

Edit: the real attention-getter is that the heretical Danube Cardinal will be reading it.  We'll remind you that he is not only the man who allowed the vile pornographic creations of the Communist Alfred Hrdlika to hang in his cathedral church (he's also buried in the cemetery)  and bookstore, but he also confirmed the approval of an aberrosexual in a civil partnership as head of the parish council in one of his parishes, in front of the flashing cameras of the media.  We don't understand why a man who adores Conchita Wurst is still a priest, much less a man responsible for the souls of millions of Austrians, but it's not our decision.

(Rome) On Friday in two days, the post-synodal letter of Pope Francis on the family will be presented. So far the only thing  known is that the letter begins with the words "Amoris Laetitia" and that it will be presented on Friday by Cardinals Lorenzo Baldisseri and Christoph Schönborn at the Vatican. Cardinal Baldisseri has been raised by Pope Francis to the state of cardinal and appointed Secretary General of the Synod of Bishops. He is considered a close confidant Pope. Cardinal Schönborn has since 1995 been Archbishop of Vienna and since 1998 chairman of the Austrian Bishops' Conference. He was brought into the College of Cardinals by Pope John Paul II in 1996.
The Dominican from an ancient noble house was particularly appreciated by Benedict XVI. to whose student circle he belonged, and in addition to which he was editor of the World Catechism. However, Pope Francis does not seem to appreciate him any less. The approach is in direct connection with the Synod of Bishops, in which Vienna's Archbishop stuck his neck out too far with daring theories on homosexuality and a "gradation" of the marriage.

Papal thanks for Cardinal Schönborn

Anyway, he is currently the highest dignitary of the German-speaking world, who was afforded visibility by Pope Francis in Rome. During the Synod of Bishops he had entrusted him with an honorable task. Schoenborn was allowed to hold the speech at the ceremony, which was organized on the 50th anniversary of the Conciliar statements. It was Schönborn   above all else, was organized the compromise fomrula on 23 and 24 October, for the final report of the synod, which prevented a breach between a majority of the Synod Fathers and the Pope at the last moment. It was  clear how close it was since one of the controversial articles was nevertheless adopted only by a razor-thin majority of one vote.
That Cardinal Schönborn will present the highly anticipated post-synodal letter "Amoris Laetitia" on Friday, which is meant as thanks the Pope.  From a diplomatically predisposed house - his family represents not only the church, with many bishops, but the old Empire also with ministers and diplomats - Schönborn is the link to the rebellious German princes of the church together with the smug apparatchiks who again are rehearsing their uprising against Rome.
The Argentine newspaper Clarín's headline the day before yesterday: "Francis could announce a major turn for divorcees". The unnamed author's piece awakens the "hope" that Pope Francis "will give the green light on Friday for the bishops to grant the remarried divorcees the sacraments."

Squaring the circle

Specifically, says Clarín , it will be "hoped" that the pope transmits the power to the bishops   to decide independently whether they would offer a "penitential" course, leading to the re-admission to the sacraments. The newspaper tried to play square the circle:
"The 'penitential way'  confirms on one hand that the Catholic marriage is indissoluble by divine will, while on the other hand it offers the possibility that the divorcee who married civilly for a second time, can regain admission to communion, which was withdrawn from them because they live with their new partners in a state of serious disorder. "
The newspaper asks: "Will the Pope consummate the historic change that a church marriage can be dissolved in certain cases, which it rejects doctrinally, but  allows in practice?"

German bishops threaten "going alone"

For the majority of the German bishops the "penitential path"  for the admission to the sacraments must end. If Rome does not agree, they would practice independently, "as they have been threatened on several occasions". [Which they've been doing for decades and even centuries.]
However, there was "strong opposition by conservatives and defenders of doctrine". The newspaper calls by name the Cardinals Gerhard Müller, the "influential" CDF prefect, and Robert Sarah, Prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship, who stands behind the "the bulk of the African Church."
For them, "marriage is indissoluble and neither the Church nor the pope can change the will of God". The "penitential path" is not a "second chance" to enter a new marriage, as in the Orthodox Church. "There could therefore come some stormy times of the Church," said Clarin.
But Pope Francis will decide? In his book " Codigo Francisco " wrote Marcelo Larraquy: "When he was Cardinal of Buenos Aires,  doctrine was not one of his special interests. He employed more pastoral solutions to the problems of the faithful. "Priests in his diocese had not denied the doctrine, to which they are held. But they could  "feel free" to act on the pastoral level, because "Rome was far away." The canonical prohibition against "remarried divorcees recieving Communion,  did not prevent them from receiving in some parishes."

Cardinal Sarah Complains of Vanishing Faith and a Lack of Understanding of the Sacraments

(Rome) Cardinal Robert Sarah, for half a year prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments answered questions for an audience  late one May at the Pontifical John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family while participating at the presentation of the new series of publications on Family "Famiglia, Lavori in corso."
"If one considers the Eucharist as a common food, from which none may be excluded, then you lose the sense of mystery." That was one of the responses of the African cardinal which unfolded in an intensive travel and giving answers in clear words to questions.
The series for the family was issued with a view to the upcoming Synod of Bishops on the family. The plan is to discuss all "hot" issues such as aberrosexuality, sexuality, divorce, artificial insemination, euthanasia, abortion and celibacy. The first three volumes have now been submitted. The first two are from lecturers of the Institute, at the Synod of Bishops in 2014which were not taken into account by  the group of Consultors. It was a circumstance which had caused some amazement and criticism. The volume "Eucharist and divorce: changes the doctrine" was presented by José Granados. He is now the Consultant appointed for the second part of the Synod of Bishops. Volume Two: "Different families: Incomplete Expression of the Same Ideal" comes from Stephan Kampowski. The third volume, "What Jesus thinks about the divorced and remarried?" has been published by Professor of New Testament at the Luis Sanchez Navarro from University of San Damaso of Madrid.

"When one Considers that Even in the Baptismal Rite the Word 'Faith' is no Longer Mentioned"

"The West is indeed involved in its own illusions," said Cardinal Sarah in the book presentation. All problems are related to the faith: "When you consider that even the word 'faith' is no longer mentioned in the rite of baptism, when the parents are asked what they ask of God's Church for your child, then you can understand the scope of the problem. "The question is not trivial," says  Cardinal Sarah.
The answer of Cardinal recalls words of Pope Benedict XVI. at a meeting with priests of the suburbicarian diocese in summer 2006. In contrast to Cardinal Sarah the pope then lamented an aberration. "Is it normal that a pope finds such a serious shortage, without providing to correct it? Is this renunciation begun  with Paul VI., 'normal, which has now turned into arbitrariness?'  asked the Roman traditional website Chiesa e postconcilio.

Already Benedict XVI.  Revealed  the Same Defect - Without Removing It

The criticism of Pope Benedict XVI. and Cardinal Sarah takes place against the background that the answer to the question of what the parents ask for their child from the Church, in most cases is only: "Baptism". In ancient rituals, one said: "Faith". The difference is obvious. In ancient rituals, it  was asked further: "And why do you ask for faith?" "So he may have eternal life."
Parents must answer to the question in the current rituals of the new rite not  "Baptism". They may rather say: "The grace of Christ"; "Eternal life"; "Inclusion in the Church", "The fact that he is a child of God." If they still give the former answer, then this is connected with the preparation for baptism. An understanding of the sacrament of baptism, which is not some "thing", provided that the the parents are not prepared prior the baptism by  the baptizing priest. Therein lies a missionary significance. Otherwise there is a danger that baptism degenerates into a "beautiful family celebration", which is ordered by the parents of the candidate as a service in a parish and has to go smoothly according to their wishes.

"Yes, but" promotes minimalist understanding

Through baptism a person is incorporated into the Mystical Body of Christ. Apart from the grace of faith, it frees especially of original sin. Benedict XVI.  made shortly before his resignation an incomprehensible a change in the rite of baptism (see Change in the Rite of Baptism -. Recent Decision of Benedict XVI ), but on this occasion not a few years earlier determined by him,  the diminutio mentioned here was corrected.
The Roman Ritual offers, as an essential characteristic of our time, the possibility of different formulations, exceptions, derogations, additions made by the respective Episcopal Conference. "This yes-but seems to have encouraged more minimalist shortening of the understanding of baptism as the faith, that is hardly mentioned, as Cardinal Sarah currently lamented" said Messa in Latino .

Cardinal Sarah: "Rediscover the Sacrality in the Holy Mass"

(Rome) In his interview book "Dieu ou rien" (God or nothing) the new Prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship, Cardinal Robert Sarah, also took a position on  the Motu Proprio Summorum Pontificum of Pope Benedict XVI.The French traditional information service Paix liturgique published the statements in his "Letter 65".
Paix liturgique had welcomed the appointment of Cardinal from Guinea to succeed Cardinal Canizares in the fall of 2014.  Now the information service writes:

Cardinal Chose Birituelle Paris Parish to Talk About the Liturgy

"In early March 2015 Cardinal Robert Sarah, Prefect of the Roman Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments remained for a long time in Paris and the surrounding area  in order to consult on  the resultant interview book, "God or Nothing"  with the journalist Nicolas Dat" (Fayard). The book paints a personal and surprising portrait of one of the most discreet and yet most important prelates of this pontificate.
While there are a large number of events  attended to by the book, the Cardinal wanted to devote a considerable part of his time not the media, but the faithful. He visited several parishes. In each he took on a specific topic of his book. This included the liturgy, precisely about which he spoke  in the parish of Saint-Eugène-Sainte Cécile, in which both Rites have been celebrated for 30 years," says  Paix liturgique. The following is an excerpt of the liturgy part of Cardinal Sarah's book.

Joy and Gratitude for Summorum Pontificum

"Personally, I have received Summorum Pontificum with great confidence, joy and gratitude. It is the sign and proof of how the Church, mother and teacher, look at all the faithful, by taking into account all the sensitivities. Benedict XVI. wanted to support the wealth of different spiritual expressions in the belief that they will lead to the Church to true unity and an ever brighter scope for  the holiness of the Church.
I think that this beautiful motu proprio fits perfectly within the bounds of the Council Fathers furrow. Therefore, we can not pretend we have forgotten what was declared expressly in Sacrosanctum Concilium: "For the liturgy contains as a divine institution immutable parts and parts which are subject to change. These parts may change over time, or even if something should  have crept into it, that it doesn't affect the inner nature of the liturgy less than if they have been found to be less suitable or equivalent."
In the letter Summorum Pontificum accompanied Benedict XVI wrote .:
For that matter, the two Forms of the usage of the Roman Rite can be mutually enriching: new Saints and some of the new Prefaces can and should be inserted in the old Missal. The "Ecclesia Dei" Commission, in contact with various bodies devoted to the usus antiquior, will study the practical possibilities in this regard. The celebration of the Mass according to the Missal of Paul VI will be able to demonstrate, more powerfully than has been the case hitherto, the sacrality which attracts many people to the former usage. The most sure guarantee that the Missal of Paul VI can unite parish communities and be loved by them consists in its being celebrated with great reverence in harmony with the liturgical directives. This will bring out the spiritual richness and the theological depth of this Missal.
It is likely that we can better understand the celebration of the Mass according to the Missal of the old Mass as an act of Christ and not of men. Thus the  mysterious and mystagogical character is also  perceptible. Even if we actively participate in the Mass, it is not about our action, but  those of Christ. In his Apostolic Letter Quintus Annus Vicesimus. John Paul II asks wherein lies  active participation.
But what is this active participation? What must you do? Unfortunately, the word was very quickly misunderstood to mean something external, entailing a need for general activity, as if as many people as possible, as often as possible, should be visibly engaged in action.  However, the world "part-icipation" refers to principal action in which everyone has a "part".  And so if we want to discover the kind of doing that active participation involves, we need, first of all, to determine what this central actio  is in which all the members of the community are supposed to participate. The study of the liturgical sources provides an answer that at first may surprise us, though, in the light of the biblical foundations considered in the first part, it is quite self-evident.  By the actio nd the need for a general acting out derived therefrom, as if as many as possible as often as possible must be visible to all go into action. But the word "participation" (or "participation '' refers to a main plot, in which all are part-have. So if you want to find out about which actions to do it, then you have to determine first of all, that because these actual central "actio" is, to which would also involve all members of the community [...] Under the actio of the liturgy refers its  sources, the Eucharistic Prayer. [...] The real liturgical action, the true liturgical act, is the oratio -.. the great prayer, which forms the core of the Eucharist which was therefore described by the Fathers as oratio ... .This oratio- the Eucharistic Prayer, the "canon" - is really more than speech is actio in the highest sense, because it happens that human actio (as they had hitherto been practiced by the priests in the various religions) withdraws and gives room for the actio divina, the action of God (Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger. The Spirit of the Liturgy, Herder, 6.Aufl, Freiburg im Breisgau 2002, S. 147f).
The Motu Proprio Summorum Pontificum tries to reconcile the two forms of the Roman Rite and tries above all to help us to rediscover the sacredness of the Holy Mass as an act of God and not of man. Here we touch upon a really important point. The problem of widespread indiscipline, lack of respect and loyalty to the Rite,  may even attack the validity of the sacrament."

Cardinal Müller: Pope Is Not Above the Word of God and the Catholic Faith

Edit: Rorate tends to understate things.  They want a sober response.  We'd like to offer this translation of Giuseppe Nardi's appreciation of their take on Cardinal Müller's recent letter appearing in the Osservatore Romano and additional commentary from other important Italian blogs.

(Rome) The extremely progressivist French newspaper Golias has sounded the alarm because of the "danger" that churchmen like the Cardinals Burke, Müller, Ranjith, Cañizares, Ouellet, Sarah and other "young cardinals" could prevent further "liberalization" of the constitution of the Church  with support of older cardinals like Scola, Pell and Caffarra.
The traditional  website Chiesa e Postconcilio contrast wrote: "God allows evil only so it is good bring about an even greater good. The immense disorder in the Bishops'  Synod on the Family led to wonderful declarations of faith by high-ranking prelates, the signs of hope for the future of the Church."
Cardinal Gerhard Müller is prefect of the Congregation and one of the five cardinals who wrote for the anthology "Remain in the Truth of Christ" along with the other bearers of the purple,  Brandmüller, De Paolis, Burke and Caffarra for the Synod of Bishops on the family in 2014.  Recently he had made his lecture public on the website of the CDF,  the referendum on the 13th of January by the Hungarian Esztergom on "The Theological Nature of the Doctrinal  Commissions and the Office of Bishops as Teachers of the Faith."

Put things into place

"In a very Ratzingerian way" says Rorate Caeli , "Cardinal Müller (referring to the Motu Proprio Apostolos Suos of John Paul II.), puts things in their place." He distinguishes between the supplementary authority of the Bishops and their organs, such as the Commissions on Faith, which are tasked to harmonize the various pastoral orientations, and the divine right of the successors of the apostles, that is of a different nature, and to the  extent makes them  teachers and guardians of the faith for their local churches, as they accept at the same time, the universal Church in union with the supreme pastor, the Pope.
The Cardinal recently wrote about this: "So the predicates of the Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church in the Roman Church  are realized a fortiori. Since ancient times it has called forth the Holy Roman Church - not because of the subjective holiness of her head and her members, but because of the holiness of its specific mission which is to pass down and preserves intact the apostolic tradition, the deposit of faith.".
The following passage in the speech by Cardinal Müller on the papal magisterium held some attention in Rome:

Cardinal Mülller: The Pope 'like all believers - is subject to the word of God and the Catholic faith "

"At the level of the universal Church the special mission of the Successor of Peter is especially mentioned to strengthen his brethren in the faith (cf.. Lc 22,32). This is not the place to deal with the doctrine of papal infallibility, but the characteristic and ultimate responsibility of the Roman Pontiff  emphasizes protecting healthy doctrine. In its "Considerations on the Primacy of the Successor of Peter in the Mystery of the Church "of 1998, the Congregation declared: 'The bishop of Rome is - like all believers - subject to the word of God and the Catholic faith. He is the guarantee for the obedience of the Church and in this sense servus servorum. He decides according to his own will, but it is voice  the will of the Lord who speaks to man in Scripture lived and interpreted by tradition. In other words, the episkope of primacy has limits, resulting from the law of God and contained in   revelation  in the untouchable divine institution of the Church. The Successor of Peter is the rock that against arbitrariness and conformism, he guarantees a relentless fidelity to the Word of God: It also follows the  martyrological characters of his primacy.'"

Cardinal Sarah: "Some want to sacrifice Christ's message for relativistic ideology of the West"

Cardinal Robert Sarah
Cardinal Robert Sarah, the new prefect of the Roman Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments made it clear in his recently published book, "God or nothing" (Dieu ou rien) in France this week that he is on the "same wavelength" (on Rorate Caeli ). Cardinal Sarah explained in moving detail from his life and shows his solid theology and spiritual claims that he is a priest and pastors of the Church. The language of the African bishop and cardinal, who risked his life more than once, "reached a formal level, when he speaks of the relativistic ideology of the West, to which some want to sacrifice the message of Christ" and all there - as it is now fashionable - to adorn this  with winning quotes from Pope Francis, says Rorate Caeli.

Cardinal Müller: "Clean the Temple"

On February 8,Osservatore Romano published under the title "Purifying the Temple" a above-cited article by Cardinal Müller in Italian, in the German edition has appeared under the official title " Theological criteria for a reform of the Church and the Roman Curia", [Our translation, no idea where the English version is right now, will continue to check.] Müller points to the fact that the real reforms in Church history were always spiritual and not political reforms. The Curial reform must therefore, if it is to be of real importance for the renewal of the Church, be a spiritual reform in the first place. Its organizational structure and its operation must be subordinated to the special mission of the Successor of Peter.
In the words of Cardinal Müller: "The Curia is not a secular administrative structure, it is an essentially spiritual device that is rooted in the special mission of the Church of Rome, which is sanctified by the martyrdom of the Apostles Peter and Paul. (...) The structural organization and operation of the Curia has its measure in the specific mission of the Bishop of Rome. This [officeholder?] is defined as the Successor of Peter, the gift of Christ to his Church "the perpetual and visible source and foundation of the unity of the multiplicity of both bishops and of the faithful" (Lumen Gentium, 23). "

Cardinal Müller's criticism of permanent synod as part of the church leadership

Cardinal Oscar Maradiaga
He continued: "As we can differ only in the light of revealed faith from a purely human religious community, the Church, so we understand only in faith that the Pope and the bishops have a sacramental and healing supreme power  that connects us with God. This  distinguishes them from leaders those  religious community springs from sociological and organizational foundations," Cardinal Müller.
One  sentence rings forth with especial clarity: "The Synod of Bishops, the Episcopal Conferences and other coalitions of bishops belong to a different theological category than the Roman Curia." It's a direct criticism of a new idea that has formed in the circle of the C9 Cardinal Council, which is mandated to propose suggestions for the reform of the Curia. According to the new idea, the Synod of Bishops should become a sort of permanent institution that is part of the Roman dicasteries by a permanent delegation and should thus have a direct stake in Church leadership. [Like a sort of Universal Catholic Council of Bishops?] The spokesman for extending the influence of episcopal collegiality with a new Synodality is the Honduran, Cardinal Oscar Rodriguez Maradiaga.
"In definitive words, the Cardinals Miller and Sarah  express that which differs from figures such as Baldisseri, Marx, Tagle and Kasper," said Rorate Caeli.

The Case of the Vanishing Preface of Benedict XVI

Where's the Preface?
(Rome) The defenders of the Catholic doctrine of marriage and family are currently facing a bitter wind of late. Pressure  is exerted on publishers who have published their books in defense of the marriage sacrament. Books for the defense of the Catholic marriage and morality, on the way to the synod at the Vatican disappear . Public attacks against the Cardinals, who oppose the Kasper proposal approved by Pope Francis to damage their reputation. Law suits and dismissals.
How much of this is anticipatory obedience, and how much  is a direct order from above, can not be said easily. There is much to indicate a firm command center around Pope Francis. You have a goal in mind and wants to achieve in October 2015. In the background is the rich German church has increased its pressure on Rome. Cardinal Reinhard Marx sent word that Germany can change church practice by itself, should Rome buck the synod again as in October 2014. Marx is a shadow Pope in Munich? In argentinian Rome one wants, were it not for the annoying "conservatives", who do not want to comply to progress.
Among them is the African Cardinal Robert Sarah. The French publisher Fayard submitted a conversation book by Cardinal Sarah in recent days. In it we find the statement: "The idea to leave the profession of doctrine in a pretty box and thus detaching it  pastoral practice, and then, depending on the circumstances,  may develop according to the fashions and passions, is a form of heresy, of pathological schizophrenia. I solemnly affirms that the Church of Africa will oppose any form of rebellion against the Magisterium of Christ and the Church."

A book with a mystery

A book that provides a mystery. The publisher announced it with a "Letter to Pope Benedict XVI Emeritus." And already the front page of the book is published (see picture). Benedict XVI. but is now gone. The book was published without the preface by him. "In all likelihood, Benedict XVI had. written the preface, which was provided for the book, the title page otherwise would not have been designed with the book notice and may have been used for advertising," said Benoit et moi . Why the preface was withdrawn, remains a mystery. "What politically correct ideas gained the upper hand in the publishing house of Fayard to consider the publication of a preface to the Pope Emeritus in the new book unwise?" asked Benoit et moi with the hope that Cardinal Sarah would make public the preface written by Benedict XVI.
The reasons for the missing preface must of course not lie with the French publisher. What remains for the time being, is the suspicion that pressure and intimidation to school those whose defense of Catholic doctrine and order are denounced as "attacks" against the Pope.
Cardinal Sarah has worked 22 years as archbishop of Conakry in Guinea. He knows how to deal with difficult situations without immediately losing his nerve. His predecessor had been imprisoned by the then ruling Guinea Communists for nine years. In 2001 he was appointed by Pope John Paul II. to Rome, who then made him Secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples . In 2010 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him President of the Pontifical Council Cor Unum and  created him the same year a cardinal. Pope Francis at the end of 2014 appointed him as the new Prefect of the Roman Congregation for Divine Worship . As he was seeking for a successor to Cardinal Canizares,  the Ratzingerianer in origin, and for to be of use in the context of the Church's need for the black African with a serious expression. The determinant seems that after the verbal gaffe by Cardinal Walter Kasper at the synod, Pope Francis endeavored  gestures of good will towards black Africa. The Presidency of the Pontifical Council Cor Unum has since been vacant, which is foreseen in the proposed amalgamation of the Pontifical Councils as part of the reform of the Curia.

Cardinal Sarah in Cappa Magna. False?

Update: so it isn't +++Sarah? I'm astonished no one has photographed him saying Mass, or published it. We'll see.

Edit: it is hoped that with this election, there will be much wailing and gnashing of teeth among the bad vestments and liturgical abuse gang.

Could this be Cardinal Arrinze^2?

Orthodox, Traditional Friendly Cardinal Appointed to Congregation of Divine Worship

(Rome)  Facilitated by  tradition related sites on the Internet: the risk of Piero Marini as the successor to Cardinal Antonio Cañizares is averted.  Pope Francis has appointed the Cardinal Robert Sarah from Guinea to the new Cardinal Prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments.
The daily bulletin of the Holy See the renewal of the Congregation for Divine Worship was announced today at noon. Cardinal Sarah was already head of a Congregation of the Roman Curia. The previous president in 1971, established the Pontifical Council Cor Unum has now been put in charge of a Roman Congregation and upgraded in rank. The Council Cor Unum organized humanitarian relief efforts and is concerned with the plight of crisis and after disasters.
Cardinal Sarah was born in 1945 in Guinea in West Africa as the son of a Catholic family. After his studies in Guinea, France and Sengal, he was ordained a priest in 1969. He received his doctorate and graduated from the Bible Institute, a specialized study of Exegetic at the Pontifical Gregorian University. He was appointed in 1979 by John Paul II. as Archbishop of Conakry, Sarah was then the youngest diocesan Archbishop of the Catholic Church. His predecessor had been held in captivity for many years by the Communist regime. In 2001  John Paul II. called Archbishop Sarah to the Roman Curia and made him Secretary of the Secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples. In 2010  Benedict XVI. made him the successor to Cardinal Paul Josef Cordes as President of the Pontifical Council Cor Unum and created him in the same year a cardinal. As such, he took part in the 2013 conclave.
In the fall of 2013 Cardinal Sarah attended a meeting of the Conference of European Bishops' Conferences (COMECE)  when he spoke of a "creeping apostasy among Christians." "A humanism without God coupled with a heightened subjectivity that  ideologies that are now promoted by the media and extremely influential and financially powerful groups, hide behind the guise of international aid and also operate in the Church and in our charitable organizations," said the cardinal  at that time, among other things. The criticism was aimed among other things, at  the political agenda of international organizations.
In 2012  Cardinal Sarah criticized that even Catholic organizations have adopted a "secular ethics." There is, according to the Cardinal, a "secular ethics", which was represented by "certain international institutions" and "is imposed by force by complex political, legal and cultural mechanisms, cultures and peoples around the world." As a result  "a negative and destructive view of man and woman" would be spread. "The history of the West has a sufficient connection between infidelity to the Magisterium and a demonstrated loss of faith" said Cardinal Sarah in his opening speech at the General Assembly of Cor Unum  on 18 Janaur 2013, as Osservatore Romano published. The black African cardinal is considered a vigorous defender of the non-negotiable values and thus the right to life and the marriage sacrament.
In an interview with Zenit  on the recently concluded Synod of Bishops on the family,  Cardinal Sarah said  that the  question at its center, of communion for remarried divorcees is not one of the "real challenges for today's families". "The crisis of the family comes from a relativistic standpoint  that has also changed the understanding of marriage and the relationship of husband and wife," said the cardinal. The day before, he complained in an interview with Catholic News Agency about the pressure of international organizations and groups to link aid to Africa to the introduction of gender ideology.
This past October 24th Cardinal Sarah attended a Mass  for the reception of African priests, at the International Pilgrimage of Tradition Populus Summorum Pontificum  Rome and celebrated the Old Rite. From him, no one should expect liturgical experiments, toward which he, as is credibly said, he  has expressed incomprehension  and resentment.
Cardinal Sarah has led a diocese for 22 years, and has reached  the highest point of the Roman Curia with more than 13 years of experience.

"Creeping Apostasy Among Christians" -- Cardinal Sarah Criticizes "Financially Powerful Groups"

(Trieste) Cardinal Robert Sarah raises the alarm. Among the believers a "creeping apostasy" is in progress. The wake up call comes from the president of the Pontifical Council Cor Unum, at a meeting of European Bishops' Conferences COMECE in Trieste.

"Even among the baptized and the disciples of Christ, there is now a sort of creeping apostasty', a rejection of God and the Christian faith in politics, in business, in the ethical and moral realm and in the post-modern Western culture." These words were submitted by Cardinal Robert Sarah, president of the Pontifical Council Cor Unum, who spoke on Tuesday at a meeting of the Commission of the Bishops' Conferences of the European Community in Trieste on charity.

"We involuntarily breathe in fully teachings, which are against the people, and produce a new politics, which has an effect of erosion, obliteration, destruction and serious aggression, slowly but constant, especially on the person, his life, his family, his work and interpersonal relationships. We do not even have the time to live, love and worship. This is an extraordinary challenge for the Church and the ministry of charity. The Church also speaks out against the various forms of suffering, of which the victims is man," said the cardinal.

"A humanism without God coupled with a heightened subjectivity, which are ideologies that are now promoted by the media and extremely influential and financially powerful groups, who hide behind the guise of international aid and even operate in the Church and in our charitable organizations" said the Cardinal.

For the Church, says the President of Cor Unum, "the Christian values that guide it, and the identity of charitable Church activity are not negotiable. Any ideology that is contrary to the divine teaching is rejected, any economic or cultural support, which is linked to ideological constraints which contradicts the Christian image of humanity is to be rejected," said the cardinal, with a view to international organizations like the United Nations and specialized agencies in the International Monetary Fund, but also the EU, individual government and government-related humanitarian organizations.

Last June, another Cardinal, Raymond Leo Burke, already held a remarkable speech in which he touched on the dictatorship of relativism and its encroachment, and even criticized organizations within the Catholic Church .

Cardinal Sarah: If "Catholic Charity" Betrays the Church -- Not Everything That Says it's Catholic is Catholic

Edit: you may have seen what this Cardinal has already said about clergy who fail to preach against abortion and aberrosexual marriage.

(Vatican)  With the Motu proprio Intima Ecclesia e natura of the 11th of November, 2012 about the charitable work of the Catholic Church as Pope Benedict was barely recognized by the public, but it set radical interventions against Catholic help organizations in motion, which are Catholic in name, but in word and deed are not. This refers to organizations that help the "non-negotiable values", such as attacking the defense of the family and of life. With the recently held Vatican General Assembly of the Pontifical Council Cor Unum, which coordinates the charitable work of the Church worldwide, the Pope is asking for the proceedings  to enter a concrete phase.

That Rome is taking this seriously, became clear with the opening speech by Cardinal Robert Sarah, who is chairman of the Council since 2010. The speech was published Osservatore Romano on the 18th January. It is a hard accusation and an unvarnished analysis of the charitable organizations of the Catholic Church. There, the Cardinal said, a "laicizing ethics" [Your Professional Catholics], which is represented by "certain international institutions" and "will be imposed by force through complex political, legal and cultural mechanisms upon cultures and peoples around the world." This would be disclosed "as a negative and destructive view of man and woman."

Catholic organizations have made "secular ethics" their own

These mechanisms were perfectly attuned, wrote the sociologist Massimo Introvigne in an article for La nuova Bussola quotidian. Poor countries that are dependent on the provision of international credits are literally blackmailed. Loans are granted only if the States in return accept a particular ideological agenda. This standard includes the legalization of the killing of unborn children, recognition of homosexual unions and mass dissemination of artificial contraceptives.

Pope Benedict XVI. had denounced this blackmail method during his pastoral visit to Africa. Since his indictment could not penetrate to the global public, an immediate anti-papal campaign had picked a quarrel. The whole issue has been reduced to condoms. Anti-Religious groups flooded the Internet with all possible and unspeakable graphical variants of the subject "and Pope condom" or "condom and church." An objective consideration of the Pope's actual statement did not take place.

Church takes action against Charities that call themselves Catholic, but are not

The whole world imposed the "inhuman contraceptive mentality of the West and the intolerant gender ideology and their disdain of people created in God's image as male and female," said Introvigne. This form of violence must be identified and denounced tirelessly, the sociologist. It would also be possible, if at least the Catholic organizations had shut themselves to this ideology and would reject any collaboration.

Pope Benedict XVI. complained in the Motu proprio Ecclesia intima e natura that the not the case. Thus it was not without a bitter undertone that Cardinal Sarah affirmed the Pope's assertion. Some members of the church who work in the charitable sector would have let themselves be seduced by a "purely secular ethics of worldly charities". And to such an extent that they had abandoned their Catholic identity and made the secular position completely their own. These Catholic in name only associations "pursue the same goals with the same destructive anthropological ambiguous language and the same slogans," the Cardinal said in his speech.

Unfaithfulness to the Magisterium and THe Loss of Faith go hand in hand

The charge is extremely serious. It says that there are Catholic institutions, which collaborated in the destruction of people, mentioned in the Pope's December Christmas message to the Roman Curia, which Benedict XVI described as the most dangerous threat to the Church and humanity. Since these organizations ignore the Church's Magisterium, they lose their faith together with the ability to act for the public good, went the the Pope's warning.

"The history of the West has sufficiently proven the connection between infidelity to the Magisterium and loss of faith," said Cardinal Sarah. According to the Chairman of the Pontifical Council Cor Unum, the secularization of Catholic charitable organizations has been already more than just a threat.

Catholic institutions have to oppose the culture of death

The danger of this situation is not to be undervalued, said Introvigne. Forces act in the world today, "wishing the death of man, created by God, in order to destroy the miraculous image," said Cardinal Sarah. It was not just about theoretical ideas, but hard, deadly facts. To achieve their goal, these forces would use all means "to globalize the culture of death." As a particularly perfidious example of this, he cited the effort to camouflage the spread of abortion logic as an "aid" to the woman.

The "unacceptable situation" has arisen from the myth that the major international organizations would always have been basically right and had only the good of all in mind.

Breaking the Myth of the "good behavior" of international institutions

It is time to change that, says Introvigne, what the Catholic area always means conversion. "The grace of conversion helps us to overcome this logic and start new in Christ. The prophetic mission of the Christian calls him to bear witness to Christ and the Gospel values. Charity is not a specialization of the Church. It is the life of the body as a whole, it is a universal appeal to live our faith and to help humanity through the Gospel to grow," says Cardinal Sarah, in his opening speech at the plenary session of the Pontifical Council Cor Unum.
