Bishop Williamson Openly Declares Himself
Edit: this just appeared on the Facebook group of "St. Pius X Fathers Pfeifer and Chazal on Facebook" with a picture of Bishop Williamson who appears to be now openly leading a rebellion he hopes to catch.

Ten priests of the resistance with Bishop Williamson at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Boston, Kentucky. Perhaps 10 more could have attended if not obligated to remain in their place by their pastoral duties. Many SSPX priests are in communication with the resistance, and undoubtedly more will join the resistance if things continue to worsen inside "Opus Fellay."

Bishop Fellay: "Where is the Continuation in the Council?"
The General Superior of the Society of Pius X yesterday put his finger to the wounds of the ecclesiastical break of Tradition.
(kreuz.net) During yesterday's feast of St. Martin, Bishop Fellay -- the General Superior of the Society of St. Pius X -- celebrated a Pontifical High Mass in the Parisian church of St. Nicolas-du-Chardonnet.
It is the largest house of God entrusted to the fathers of the Society.
Month of Suffering
The sermon of the Bishop was clear and to the point.
He referred to the time of the negotiations with the Vaticans proposed dogmatic statement as the "month of suffering, of disquiet and anguish for us."
The Society found itself in the same situation as Marcel Lefebvre found in 1974.
Pressure from Rome
It was then that Rome tried to bring great pressure through its local Bishops upon the still authorized seminary of Ecône to bring it in line with the Council.
Msgr Lefebvre resisted this on the 21st of November 1974 with a "declaration of intent".
Therein he repudiated the neo-Modernist and neo-Protestantic tendencies of the Council.
In Assisi?
Msgr. Fellay spoke in his sermon about the break with Tradition, which consummated itself after the Second Vatican in the Conciliar Church.

Bishop Fellay: Stays Firm, Dealing With Two Different Agendas
Edit: first they are told that the SSPX can be accepted as is and that no expectations would be included, then others are insisting that the Society must adhere to the principles of Vatican II. Then Archbishop Mueller, the new CDF, insists that the "talks are over". A few weeks after that, another statement is issued from Rome saying that the talks are not over.
We've pointed out in the past that there are two different agendas at work in Rome. It's interesting that most people seem unaware of this. We'll keep pointing it out. In the meantime, Bishop Fellay will continue to assert what the Society has always asserted and that it will not compromise those principles.
Undeniably, there are reports that there is a lot of pressure against this deal taking place from governments, Old Liberals within the Church structure who fear the growing legitimacy of Tradition in the Church, Jews and even members within the SSPX.
Here's the Bishop's statement and commentary from DICI:
This is the sort of information that reached me. Obviously it is not clear, when on the one hand you have official documents to which you have to say no, because they are asking us to accept the Council and that is not possible, and when on the other hand such reports are communicated to you. Nevertheless I made an initial response in which I said no. Someone telephoned me to tell me: “Could you not be a little more precise?” I wrote a second time. They were no more content than the first time. And so we come to March 16, when they presented to me a letter, saying, “This letter comes from the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, but it is approved by the Pope.” If I had in my hands nothing but this letter, our relations with Rome would be finished, because this letter said that no one has the right to set the past Magisterium against the Magisterium of today. Therefore no one has the right to say that today the Roman authorities are in contradiction with those of yesterday. It also said that rejecting the September 14 document which was explicitly approved by the Pope was tantamount in fact to rejecting the authority of the Pope. There was even a reference to the canons that talk about schism and about excommunication for schism. The letter continued: “The Pope, in his kindness, is allowing you another month to reflect; if you wish to change your decision, tell the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith about it.” Then it’s clear! There is nothing left to do. This letter that came to me by the official channel concludes the debate. It is over. Bishop Fellay Will Miss Fulda Pilgrimage this Year
The General Superior of the Society of St. Pius X can't come to the most important yearly event of the German District. Was he expected in the Vatican?
(kreuz.net, Fulda) Bishop Bernard Fellay, Superior General of the Pristly Society of St. Pius X was expected to participate in this year's Fulda pilgrimage of the German district.
This was reported by the site 'pius.info'. The yearly pilgrimage of the German District has taken place nine times.
This year it is being held under the motto, "The Church -- our joy, our love, our pride".
The pilgrimage will renew the consecration of Germany to the Mother of God.
Is he being drawn to Rome?
Msgr Fellay has refused by reason of "other important obligations".
It is unclear which short term meeting is more important than the most important annual event of the German District.

SSPX Priest Urges Bishop Williamson to Come to General Chapter

A unification did not take place --- but perhaps it will produce at least a division?
(kreuz.net) On the 29th of June Father Charles Moulin -- the prior of the Society of Saint Pius X in the 340,000 population city of Nice in the southernmost part of France -- has written an open letter to Bishop Richard Williamson.
The letter is a reaction to the exclusion of the Bishop's appearance from the next General Chapter in Econe.
Good wishes only for the enemy?
Father Moulin is a fellow student of Bishop Fellay.
He notes on this that the "enemies of yesterday" have been treated with enormous friendliness:
For that reason it is also the case that his old "brothers in arms" who have, after so many years, could be excused a certain lack of obedience.
The freedom to defend the true Doctrine
Father Moulin stresses that the freedom to speak of Bishop Richard Williamson would be an enormous benefit to the General Superior.
Finally, he was very concerned about future prospect of independence of the Society in Apostolate and speech during the negotiations with the Vatican.
This freedom, to defend the true doctrine, is a "true and traditional privilege of every Catholic Bishop".
Attack on unity
Father Moulin can also not imagine that the General Superior by the next chapter would bypass the wisdom and insight of Msgr. Williamson.
He recalled then that Msgr Fellay as a seminarian was one of the most acute listeners of the "masterful lectures" of Bishop Williamson at the seminary in Econe.
The Father can also not imagine that the General Superior would want to shut a Bishop out from the Chapter, whom Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre (+1991) himself chose.
That would break the close unity of the Society which the Archbishop desired.
He knows the enemy.
For Father Moulin, Msgr Williamson is an effective bulwark as a convert from Anglicanism, to prevent the "ever possible" protestantization of the Society.
He described Msgr Williamson as one of the greatest students of the subversive tactics of the Modernists, Old Liberals and enemies of the Church.
Solidarity of the Other SSPX Bishops?
Finally, Father feared even that the two other Bishops, Msgr Bernard Tissier de Mallerais and Msgr Alfonso de Gallareta, will stay away from the General Chapter out of solidarity.
The Father wishes that the participants of the General Chapter will find time to observe the words of St. John Chrysostom:
"There are more reasons to trust the wounds inflicted by a friend, than the kisses bestowed by an enemy."

Bishop Fellay States What's Been Evident All Along About Vatican II

"The Pope Wants to Recognize the SSPX"
The General Superior of the Society spoke at the Chartres Pilgrimage about the efforts toward reconciliation with the Vatican.
(kreuz.net, Orleans) Since Saturday and till Monday the Society f St. Pius X marched from Chartres to Orleans.
In the last year, Paris was the pilgrim's goal.
But this year the Society are recognizing the 600th birthday of the French national heroine, St. Joan of Arc (+1431) who was born in Orleans.
Shennanigans of the City
The Pius Pilgrims didn't know for long where the concluding Mass would take place in Orleans.
The authorities of the city were really intent on sabotaging the event.
The Society requested some land near the Cathedral in the center of the city. The authorities expressed their concerns about that.
Then the place agreed upon and the Society began with its planning.
Two weeks before the beginning of the pilgrimage, a denial came out of the blue.
The concluding Mass would therefore have to take place on the peninsula of Charlemagne on the harbor of Loire at the doors of the city.
The Church is at an End
On Pentecost Sunday Bishop Bernard Fellay -- the General Superior of the Society -- celebrated Holy Mass for the pilgrims.
He preached long in French, English and German.
The General Superior touched upon the subject of the destruction of the Church and talked about the Pastoral Council.
Humanly speaking the distorted figure of the Church can not be saved from this crisis -- he said.
Actually, one can't think humanly. The Church will remain, because She is the bride of Christ.
Bishop Fellay Can't see all the Cards
The Bishop explained that the Society is full of mistrust and fear in the things of the discussion with the Vatican.
One sees how poorly the traditional societies reconciled with the Vatican have been managed -- even those, who have only a light inclination to tradition.
The Society have to proceed with great intelligence.
Somehow or other: The Society will fight on
At the same time Bishop Fellay sees the possibility that the Society will be recognized.
If the reconciliation threatened the existence of the Society, then it would be rejected.
At the same time it's not a question of imposing God's will.
Will the Pope Follow Through to the End Despite Opposition?
Of one thing is Msgr Fellay certain: "The Pope wants to recognize the SSPX."
The Bishop then put the question if Benedict XVI is in a position to bring the situation to a conclusion:
"Will he give in, if he is confronted with pressure, with opposition?"

At present there are many open questions.

Benedict XVI: "It would be easier for me not to recognize the Society"
The struggle for Unity
(kreuz.net) The structure Rome is offering the Society of St. Pius X is "unbelievably convenient". General Superior Bishop Bernard Fellay said this at the end of a sermon in Vienna. A section of the sermon is on the videoportal 'gloria.tv'.
"We remain, what we are"
After the upcoming possible recognition there would be no noticeable difference compared to now, says Msgr Fellay:
"We will remain what we are."
The guarantee of the freedom of the Society is something Bishop Fellay views as a problem. At the moment several points are unclear.
There is a fear that the Vatican will attempt to manipulate the SSPX.
Bishops want to prevent the reconciliation
Bishop Fellay recognized that the offer to the Society is also controversial in the official Church.
At the same time he assures that the Pope personally desires that the reconciliation with the Society will take place.
There could be no doubt: "But it is also surely not what all in the Church desire".
"Much Pressure"
Msgr Fellay does not know the further course of the negotiations.
It could be that the Pope will decide within days or weeks.
Or the proceedings could be sent back to the CDF.
There is "much pressure" in the Vatican.
The Pope is preparing for some blows
Bishop Fellay cited what the Pope has said about the situation of the Society.
Benedict XVI said: "I know that it would be easier for me and the Society, to leave things in their current situation."
The Holy Father knows that after he "will receive blows" for a reconciliation.
With or Against Rome?
Finally, Bishop Fellay explained that the current "seemingly comfortable" situation is coming to an end for the Society.
The current way will not contine: "It will be a with or against Rome from this point on."
Both will be hard.

The General Superior of the Society, Bishop Bernard Fellay, who has a large majority behind him in striving for the reconciliation with the Holy See acknowledges that the reconciliation no longer excludes the separation of a part of the Society provoked by the reconciliation. In a CNS interview Msgr Fellay stressed that he considers the offer of Pope Benedict XVI as "straightforward" and that the Pope is the driving force behind the reconciliation. Fellay himself wants to still wait till things can be more clear. Probably also because the canonical structure of the Society will have to undergo a practical test for unity: "But it probably really appears as though the Holy Father wants it to happen now."
The General Superior defended his course of reconciliation toward Rome in the CNS interview. At the same time he cautions: "We don't want to commit suicide". There is still no reunification, the Superior is cited as saying, "It's still not too late." There is above all the necessity of clarification whether the Vatican "proposed structures and qualifications are practical", so that the Society may be "free to develop" itself.
A few days earlier the General House recognized the unauthorized publication of internal documents as "worthy of condemnation". Those responsible were accused of a breech of trust amd to have "committed a serious sin", which will "further strengthen the agitators of division".
In view of the delicate situation in the Church with the unification process, Catholics should respond with "prayer and silence", says Msgr Fellay and to accompany this phase of the talks with the Holy See with "doubled prayers, so that only God's will happens, for the good of the Church and the salvation of souls."

SSPX: A Spectacular Reading from the Pulpit

Tomorrow a public statement will be read from the pulpit in the Priories of the German District of the Society of St. Piux X regarding the state of negotiations with Rome.
(kreu.net) Today the website of the District of the Society of St. Pius X has produced a chronology of the talks with Rome.
The chronicle is an overview of a span of time from the Second Vatican Council to today.
It maintains that the Pastoral Council is supposed to have decided upon a "modernization of the Catholic Church".
For that reason the "Phalanx of the progressives" are supposed to have held sway against the "conservative Conciliar Fathers".
A Sensational Success
The Society of St. Pius X was founded on 1 November 1970 by Bishop François Charrière († 1976) of Freiburg.
The first superior was Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre (+1991). He began with four seminarians.
The Pope Has Never Abrogated the Society
The society was abrogated a year later by the modernistic French Bishops.

The Media Bosses Work With False Reports
The chronicle went in detail into the talks between the Society and the Vatican:
"Because of a sermon by the General Superior, Bishop Fellay on the 2nd of February in Winona, there were several media outlets in Germany which premptively described the talks as "broken down"."
The chronicle denies this: "Bishop Fellay broached the issue not of the fundamental relation to Rome, rather of the question, as to how the "Doctrinal Preamble" should be evaluated."
An Answer to an Answer?
As a last event, the chronicle lists the meeting of Msgr Fellay with the Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine and the Faith on the 16th of March.
At this even the Prefect explained in a written answer, that the offer of the Society is not sufficient to resolve the dogmatic problems.
On the morning -- of the 25th of March -- a further step will be announced.
"In Germany a word from the pulpit will be read to the faithful in relation to the talks with Rome."

SSPX: Some Details From the Two Hour Long Discussion

(kreuz.net, Vatican) The most recent letter to the Society of St. Pius X from the CDF renewed its request for the General Superior of the Society, Bishop Bernard Fellay, to sign the Dogmatic Preamble.
This was according to Andrea Tornielli at 'vaticaninsider.com'.
The signature of the Preamble is a precondition for the canonical reconciliation.
Tonrielli speculates that Msgr Fellay has been playing for time up until now without breaking the dialog with the Vatican off completely.
On the contrary, the Pope wants clear conditions.
On Friday Msgr Fellay spoke for two hours with the Prefect of the Congregation for Doctrine and the Faith, Cardinal William Levada, as well as the Secretary of the Commission of Ecclesia Dei, Prelate Guido Pozzo.
Msgr Fellay was accompanied by his chief assistant, Father Alain-Marc Nely.

The Society Bishop explained, says Tornielli, that the Society has no problem signing with the initial Professio fidei -- Profession of Faith .
Additionally, it recognizes principles represented in the Preamble.
The problem consists not in the principles, rather in their application.

Recognition is in the Drawer
The Vaticanist reported still further that for the Society, in case they accept the Preamble, are ready to complete an offer with a Canonical Structure of an Institute.
It would allow the Society a status of complete independence from the Bishops, which protection is enjoyed by no other traditional group.
There are Effectively Two Different Religions
Tornielli suspects that the problem with reconicliation is not in the text of the Preamble but also as a result of disunity within the Society.
The majority, inclusive of the General Superior, want unity with Rome. They recognize the primacy of the Papacy with its government as being central to the Faith.
A strong minority of the Society are against the reconciliation. They call on Rome to finally convert.

Vatican Talks with SSPX: Recylcing Tornielli's False Report of Last Week
(Vatikan/Econe)Some people can't help themselves. The supplement Christ und Welt(ex Rheinischer Merkur)the weekly paper of Die Zeit reported in today's edition, that "according to the estimate" of the Italian Vaticanista Andrea Tornielli, the negotiations between the Society of St. Pius X and the Holy See have been a "failure". The Catholic news agency KNA has distributed the information further. Even so it is being assumed by countless worldwide Catholic media.
In fact, it is just the (false) message that Alessandro Speciale spread last week on the 3rd of February which appeared on the same day as Tornielli's report. Speciale stated that the Superior General of the SSPX, Bishop Bernard Fellay had declared the talks a failure. Nothing of the kind was done.
Instead, it was the same day that Speciale had already spread his message in the morning that a meeting between Pope Benedict and Cardinal Levada took place instead, the Prefect o fthe Congregation who led the negotiations with the SSPX. The them of the meeting were the discussions with Econe. The Pope himself discussed the current status with Cardinal Levada and also what the next steps of the Holy See will be. It is in fact the Vatican's turn to answer the SSPX.
A failure of the talks is not excluded, however, any more than there being an agreement between Rome and Econe. What Speciale and others more widely published, was targeted at disruption and torpedoing the talks, an attempt to influence from the outside, which makes the father of this wish easy to surmise. The report from the Christiches Welt and Tornielli's analysis corresponded to the 3 February 2012 (this time only in German). Since then nothing more in Italy has been published on the subject, not even in his own blog. The question of whether or not there has been an agreement or a failure of the talks between Rome and Econe is still open.
Die Zeit's editorial appears to appeal to thoughts which appeal to the failure of the talks, which have newly warmed themselves with the report of last week. That parts of the Catholic Church are interested in the failure of the discussions was known then. The dissemination of these premature negative reports serve to sketch a map, of whom is attaching themselves to this kind of wishful thinking. This is thoroughly decisive for observers of the Catholic Church. It is at the present time, nothing more and nothing less.

SSPX's Response to Vatican, No Response

Edit: The response to Rome has just come in and it brings to mind an episode from the life of Caligula by Suetonius in his 12 Caesars. The erratic Caligula hated people who disturbed his dramatic entertainments and sent one offending officer as a messenger to Ptolemy of Mauritania bearing the message, "do nothing at all, either good or evil, to the bearer of this message."
Man, that Vatican Insider continues to contemptuously refer to the Society of St. Pius X as "Lefebvrians" and even refuses to grace the name of Fellay with the title of Bishop.

According to Vatican Insider, the Vatican has received a response from the Society, but there is nothing, only a "documentation". Tornielli seems to think that Bishop Fellay is taking more time to defer the decision, or ask for clarification and possible changes to the text proposed by the Holy See.
Tornielli has taken some time to dwell on alleged internal difficulties within the Society, but he hasn't taken any time to talk about the internal difficulties faced by the Church at large, what with the pornography scandal in Germany and the rebellious attitude of the German speaking clergy in general, who, despite all of their financial wealth, can't seem to figure out who they serve.
Bishop Fellay's recent response notwithstanding, no one has addressed his request for understanding in light of the Church's massive decay.

Pope Benedict May Have Something Better for SSPX: Bishop Williamson "Lashes" out at Jews

A report on the conference given by H.E. Bernard Fellay SSPX in Our Lady of Victories Church, Cubao, Quezon City, Metro Manila on October 16, 2011
I attended Pontifical Mass from the throne (two assistant deacons and all) in the SSPX church in Metro Manila on the morning of October 16. The Mass was offered by Bishop Fellay and he was assisted by the District Superiors for Asia and for France. The church was packed to overflowing thanks to the presence of delegates from the SSPX-guided Praesidia of the Legion of Mary from all over the Philippines. (This is not to say that the church is not full on ordinary Sundays.)
During his sermon for the Mass, Bishop Fellay focused mostly on the need to trust in God, and the fact that the Lord who performed the miracle described in the gospel for that Sunday (the forgiving of sins and healing of the man sick with palsy) is the same Lord who is in the tabernacle. He has lost none of His power, and therefore we must have recourse to Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament with complete trust. He also related the following story from Lourdes, which according to the bishop took place a few years back: there was this little girl who was very ill, and who had gone to Lourdes in the hope of being healed. She stood in line to be blessed with the Blessed Sacrament, as is the practice in that shrine. However, when the priest blessed her with the Blessed Sacrament, nothing happened to her. She then pointed to the Blessed Sacrament (which by then had been brought over to another person) and said, "I'll tell this to Your Mother!". At that instant, she was healed! The bishop did not neglect to speak about the need to pray the rosary and to have trusting recourse to the intercession of the Blessed Virgin. In the course of this he remarked that the crisis in the Church was so great that, humanly speaking, it can't be raised up, and only divine intervention can do so.
After the Pontifical Mass, the bishop gave an hour-long conference (open to the public) on the state of the relationship between the Vatican and the SSPX.

Preamble for Reonciliation With SSPX Allows Critical Discussion of Vatican II
Edit: It's time for the neo-Conservatives to start eating some crow. Wait, you can actually criticize Vatican II and still be Catholic? Wow.After conferring the leadership of the Society of St. Pius X, it is likely this document will be signed as it will allow the SSPX to continue its measured and reasonable criticism of the Vatican Council Documents.
In the linked article below, Bishop Fellay describes a phone conversation he had with Cardinal Hoyos wherein the Cardinal admitted that +Fellay could have such reservations and level those criticisms while being Catholic at the same time.
Today, for the sake of objectivity, I must acknowledge that in the doctrinal preamble there is no clear-cut distinction between the inviolable dogmatic sphere and the pastoral sphere that is subject to discussion. The only thing that I can say, because it is part of the press release, is that this preamble contains “certain doctrinal principles and criteria for the interpretation of Catholic doctrine, which are necessary to ensure faithfulness to the Church’s Magisterium and to "sentire cum Ecclesia" [thinking with the Church]. At the same time, it leaves open to legitimate discussion the examination and theological explanation of individual expressions and formulations contained in the documents of Vatican Council II and of the later Magisterium.” There you have it; no more and no less.

Rome Expects Certain Conditions For Reconciliation With SSPX
Edit: apparently there will be ground rules the SSPX will be expected to follow in its resistance to the principles of Vatican II. It's interesting to note, and worth repeating, that many allegedly Catholic Bishops in good standing with the Vatican don't actually follow many principles outlined in the Vatican documents themselves.

Also taking into account the concerns and the issues presented by the SSPX regarding the integrity of the Catholic faith considering the hermeneutic of rupture of the Second Vatican Council with respect to Tradition – mentioned by Pope Benedict XVI in his Address to the Roman Curia of December 22, 2005 – the CDF maintains that a fundamental basis of full reconciliation with the Apostolic See is the acceptance of the Doctrinal Preamble which was delivered during the course of today’s (Wed., September 14th, 2011) meeting. This preamble enunciates some of the doctrinal principles and criteria for the interpretation of Catholic doctrine necessary to guarantee fidelity to the Magisterium of the Church and sentire cum Ecclesia (thinking with [the mind of] the Church), while at the same time leaving the theological study and explanation of particular expressions and formulations present in the texts of the Second Vatican Council and of the Magisterium that followed it open to legitimate discussion.
In the course of the same meeting, some elements were proposed regarding a canonical solution for the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X, which would follow the eventual and hoped-for reconciliation.

General Superior of the SSPX Called to Rome

The General Superior and his two assistants, Father Niklaus Pfluger and Father Alain-Marc Nely have been invited to a special meeting in Rome on 14. September 2011.
This is according to Father Franz Schmidberger of Germany in the forward to his next newsletter.
Here it is:
"Exactly in this sense we ask you to raise your prayers to heaven for the 14th of September. On this day, on the Feast of the Holy Cross, Msgr Fellay, our honorable General Superior, has been ordered to an audience by Cardinal Levada, the Prefect of the Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith, in regard to the outcome of the two year doctrinal talks between the Holy See and the Priestly Society."
It is noteworthy that not only the General Superior, but the General Counsel of the Priestly Society of St. Pius X has been ordered to Rome: The General Counsel consists of the General Superior and his assistants.
The Society has established preparations with the Talks with the Holy See under the direction of Bishop de Galarreta which has been left in a very good climate.
It is generally understood that this meeting will turn to the canonical situation of the Society.
Pope Benedict XVI has lifted the Decree of Excommunication of 1988 on 21. January 2009. (Dekret nachlesen) Since then the Society is no longer "excommunicated", therefore the question of the canonical status is left unanswered all along.
Opponents of the Society of St. Pius X., above all the German Episcopate, have used this as a pretext in the recent past, to deny any collaboration with the Society. Recent examples are the First home Mass of Father Jeindle in the Diocese of Vienna as well as the national Pilgrimage to Altötting in July of this year.
All Catholics, who receive the Sacraments in the churches and chapels of the Society of St. Pius X in Germany, are requested to offer their prayers for this meeting on the Feast of the Holy Cross.

Bishop Fellay of SSPX Has Mixed Reactions about Clarification: Sees no Reconcilation Short Term

The General Superior of the Society of Pius X has made it clear that a reconciliation with the Vatican is not foreseeable "in the short term".
(kreuz.net, Stuttgart) The instruction 'Universae Ecclesiae' has affirmed the importance of the Old Mass for the whole Church.
Bishop Bernard Fellay -- the General Superior of the Society of St. Pius X -- said this in a German video interview with the website 'pius.info'.
This occured on Tuesday at during a visit by Msgr Fellay in Stuttgart.
The Bishop was leased that Bishops and Priests will be permited to offer the Old Rite.
At the same time Msgr Fellay sees shadows in the Instruction.
Legitimacy of the New Mass
The Bishop especially criticized number 19 of the Instruction.
It reads: "The faithful who ask for the celebration of the forma extraordinaria must not in any way support or belong to groups which show themselves to be against the validity or legitimacy of the Holy Mass or the Sacraments celebrated in the forma ordinaria or against the Roman Pontiff as Supreme Pastor of the Universal Church."
The General Superior took the entire paragraph to mean that the legitimacy of the New Mass may not be doubted.
Actually, it's a fact "that probably ninety percent of those, who are attending the Old Mass see."
Because: Why should one attend the Old Mass if one is happy with the New -- asked the Prelate.
With this point, the Society is "surely not pleased".

Additionally, Msgr Fellay criticized number 31 of the Instruction. There, the Diocesan Bishops are strenuously forbidden to offer Priestly ordinations in the Old Rite.
The section from 31 reads: 31. "Only in Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life which are under the Pontifical Commission Ecclesia Dei, and in those which use the liturgical books of the forma extraordinaria, is the use of the Pontificale Romanum of 1962 for the conferral of minor and major orders permitted."
Bishop Fellay had hoped for the same openness to ordination as with the Mass.
As a whole he greets the new Instruction "with mixed feelings".
As far as that goes, he hopes that the good will grow and that the Old Mass will be more and more celebrated.
