Archdiocese Sells IHM Sisters Property to Satanist Pop Star

Edit: the IHM Sisters who once occupied a large property in the La Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles, California until they were thrown out by Cardinal Mahony in 2011, are now being thoroughly divested of what was their home. Realizing that their shrinking and now elderly remaining members could not remain in the property any longer, they sought to sell it to a woman who wanted to turn the community house into a boutique hotel. Meanwhile, the Archdiocese under Cardinal Gomez objected to the sale, in favor of selling the property to admitted satanist Katy Perry, while claiming to be representing the best interests of the sisters. But they seem to be the only ones objecting to the sale of the property to the evil pop star.

Despite filing a law suit against to sell the property to the original buyer, the sisters lost their court battle in March of last year to the evil pop star.  We were unable to find any further articles after April of 2017.

This story didn't get a lot of coverage from Catholic media, and we only heard about yesterday reading a comment threat from 2015. Cardinal Gomez seems to be just as evil and unprincipled as his predecessor.

Two nuns have enlisted the help of the Pope’s personal lawyer to fight a court case against Katy Perry’s attempts to buy a former convent, describing the singer as “disgusting” and accusing her of “witchcraft,” according to a report.

The Daily Mail reports that the 32-year-old singer is facing a legal challenge from the Order of the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary over her attempt to buy the $14.5 million property, situated in Los Angeles’ Los Feliz neighborhood, which was formerly lived in by Sisters Rose Catherine Holzman, 86, and Rita Callanan, 78.
“I do not like Katy Perry’s lifestyle,” Callanan told the paper. “I gave a lot of the things from the internet to show the Archdiocese what kind of woman she was. Some of the things she does are disgusting.”

During her first encounter with the singer, Callanan said that Perry was eager to show her a tattoo on her wrist with the name Jesus, and the singer said she planned to buy the property so she could “sit down and drink green tea, and just go to the meditation garden and just meditate.”

  1. Just FYI, only 2 of the then-5 (one sister died recently, leaving them down to four sisters.) remaining sisters objected the sale of the property. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=So8sC5FnH6k

  2. maybe if the sisters were more faithful to tradition they would have had more postulants? Statistically it happens everywhere they bring tradition back.

    1. They looked like they were at least somewhat traditional. At least they recognized the works of the devil and a fundamental injustice when they see it. It is a great pity about the state of things.

We had some IHM Sisters who were trying to hide out from the rest of the nutcases in their order at some open rooms in the nearby school.

    2. You're right, I agree and I feel sorry for the nuns who devoted their life to this and are obviously still faithful and were sold down the river at Vatican 2, the choices they had were really none, go join the order of nuns around Archbishop LeFebvre? Many were cloistered, it was a raw deal all the way around. For those that went with the flow and as the late Fr. Malachi Martin wrote, wore lipstick and miniskirts and sat around hotel conferences drinking martinis and who then became what we know today as "sister mary pantsuit", I don't have much sympathy for them.

    3. As an addendum to my comment above. We have an old nun that I see in her habit at the FSSP chapel I attend, I look at her with admiration, I don't know her story but there she is probably in her late 70's running the race to the finish line.

  3. French bishops love Simon Veil, JPII loved rock music, over 100 cardinals at the time of VCII were free masons etc., etc....does all this really surprise anyone, anymore? This is not the Roman Catholic Church but a Neo-Conciliar bastard run by The Devil.

    2. @LeonG - Wondering how you can support your claim that, "over 100 cardinals at the time of VCII were free masons," when, in fact, membership in the College of Cardinals was, by law, limited to less than 100 (max. of 90) between 1962 & Feb. of 1965. Thus, it was only towards the end of the Council that the College even numbered over 100 (105). Are you therefore inferring that every cardinal who took part in the Council was a Free Mason? While I am not attempting to defend the Post-Vatican II state of the Church (which "has taken on so much water as to be on the verge of capsizing"), it is of no service to anyone to disseminate inaccurate information regarding easily verifiable historical facts. Indeed, to do so only undermines one's credibility and any point one is attempting to make.

    1. I highly doubt that Katy ever attended a Novus Ordo Mass.

    2. Why do you capitalize world? I'm not familiar with that convention? Does being a sedevacantist also free you up from conventional grammar and usage?

I don't have good grammar skills.

You missed the entire point of my comment.
What I am saying is by supporting & recognizing the Novus Ordo, tragedies like this story will continue to happen.
Also now that I think about it,I thought nouns were supposed to be capitalized?
If I am wrong please correct me.

  5. I know alittle about these IHM Sisters due to the estensive research I have been doing on my spare time for a priest who is writing a huge volumn on the destruction of religious life since/due to Vatican II and its deforms. Spare time---(what little there is of it between modeling jobs (one just done in Miami), and teaching HS during most of the year) :)
Anyway, don't cry too much for these "sisters"
The IHM sisters began as a religious Order founded in Spaain, by a very holy priest who became a Monsignor, and then a Canon of his local Basilica/Cathedral. His name was Masamitja( appoligize for misspelling of name).
The Order grew greatly in the USA, all thru the first part of the 20th century, staffed close to 100 parochial schools both in the huge Archdiocese of Los Angeles under the great Cardinal McIntyre, and in other Ca. dioceses.
But in the mid-1960's they elected a superior who was a radical liberal/femministy/dissenter enbued with a radical agenda of reform. She was the infamous Mother Humiliata( probably nowadays historically better remembered as Anita Casprey...the woman who destroyed her own Order .As Mother Humiliata, she forced the sisters to attend "updating" sessions conducted by 1-2 USA psycologists bent on releasing nuns from the "oppressive" mold they had existed in prior to Vatican II. They also were forced to attend similar "encounter" sessions where the nuns were encouraged to get in touch with their own creative spirt and desires, and their own sexuality. During this time the habit was greatly modified into a short blue dress, and then THAT was discarded in favor of layclothes. They also got involved in civil rights, the womens lib movement, women priests, married priests movement, etc.
The nuns liberalized so much that Cardinal McIntyre in 1970 no longer wanted them to teach or work in his Archdiocese of Los Angeles, and told them either to get back into the traditional habit and into the schools, or leave the Archdiocese. The nuns under Mother Humiliata refused. McIntyre appealed to Rome and the Vatican, which after a long debate sided with McIntyre, ordering the nuns to get back to tradition. They again refused.
Thereupon, they had a vote among themselves, where they could stay and remain Catholic nuns, or evolve into a secular, non-canonical/ecumenical "Order" not bound to the Catholic Church. Of close to 650 nuns (they had already suffered large declines since Vatican II), about 375 walked out of the Order and the Church to found their own community, now lead by the former Mother Humiliata.....Anita Casprey.
Another 100 ot so quit the Order entirely, leaving about 70 who chose to remain as IHM sisters. But they did not go back to tradition. They remained layclothes nuns, staffed the few schools left to them, and declined year by year. The last 2 nuns of the entire IHM Order were the ones living in the house that the Satanist Perry bought.
So don't weep too much for these nuns. They were/are not traditional Sisters. Those who chose to remain as nuns (70+) could have remained faithful sisters, but chose to go the route of layclothes progressives.
If I were you, I would feel badly for what was once a great Order before Vatican II, destroyed in the same means and by the same type people as Pope Francis and his gang today.
Perry is evil. The lifestyle is evil. It is sad that someone like her has bought what was once a house of prayer and for the celebration of Holy Mass. This is in the end, the fruit of Vatican II and it's deforms. It can be repeated 1,000x times across the USA and the world. be sad for that, not the nuns.
By the way....Gomez is not a cardinal. And possibly (considering that Bergoglio probably won't be here for another round....hopefully......Gomez will never be a cardinal either. :)

    1. Everybody elected leftist superiors in the 60s, and it's difficult for me not to see the whole thing in terms of malfeasance, outright theft and pilfering and lies.

+Gomez obviously wants to get his hands on the capital of the IHM sisters for their "benefit", and is even willing to sell the place to a Satanist who will have little respect for the history and sacredness of the place.

    3. In 2007, the archdiocese had a sex abuse settlement for 660 million. They built a new cathedral after for the Northridge earthquake for 220 million. As for those seventy or so nuns for whom we should not feel sorry, I disagree. My third grade educated Irish grandmother had a sister who was a traditional mother superior. Clothing does not make the woman. Penguins cannot survive in the hot weather of California. They deserved to modify their clothing. These faithful few kept their good (character) habits in spite of not wearing the searing heat originated habits. They deserve your respect. They certainly have mine.

    4. Why could these nuns withstand wearing their pre-Vatican II clothes in a time when their order was flourishing ? The global rise of the temperatures since the sixties is less than half a degree C. clothing fashion often goes along with spiritual decay

      Delete
    5. @jac: A little reality is in order here. The reform may have gone too far to be sure. With a heat index tomorrow of 115 on the banks of the Mississippi, you need to have a reality check.

  6. We have become so air-conditioned we can't take the heat any more, especially in medieval dress. (Never saw a male religious wearing anything punishing like that.) Go with God sisters.

    1. There is a Dominican friar who dresses in the garb who is now an associate pastor at a local parish here in the Midwest. Most of the uniform is white. Today's temperature is 103 with tomorrow to be 105 with a heat index of 115. Now, tell me how these nuns should be wearing their Penguin outfits in the middle of summer on the banks of the humid Mississippi.--Quit sleeping on the bottom bunk and hitting your head.

    2. Thus low masses in the summer usually and the schola also takes a break. The priest at my traditional chapel explained they do low masses mostly during these days traditionally because it's too hot to be vested that long for high masses.

  7. I live in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, and there is an Order of nuns, originally from Italy, which opened a house in Philly 7 years ago this month. They are called, in Italian, the Ancillae Reparatrice delle Maria Sanctissima( Handmaids of Reparation of Mary Most Holy). They're teachers, and seven of them teach at a parish school that used to be run by the SSJ's (St. Joe nuns). They wear the old time 1950's habits in a unique burgundy color and black veils most of the year, but in summer, wear all white.....same style habit but white and light. It may be 100+ degrees, but these women, 4 of whom look less than 40, don't complain. They're confortable in white. That's a sensible option, rather than discarding the whole tradition 'cause of the heat. :)

    1. I would wager that there will be no trace of the Handmaids in twenty years. Living in the 50s was not the best time in human history as those who were around then would tell you.
