Ecclesia Dei Confirms the Deal is Near

Edit: we don't make any bones about it, this is something we wanted to happen. It was opposed by all the right people, and should have happened shortly before Benedict resigned when the deal was mysteriously and arbitrarily altered. The Society is getting the deal it had initially hoped for, but some people will have to stick a finger in the wound to know this deal has come back from the dead, no doubt, and a few more will have to see it in action.

[Rorate] From Andrea Tornielli, who has been one of the unofficial spokesman for Pope Francis in his pontificate, in an article this morning for La Stampa:

"We are working at this moment in the completion of some aspects of the canonical frame, which will be the Personal Prelature." Archbishop Guido Pozzo, Secretary of the Ecclesia Dei commission, charged with dialogue with the Society of Saint Pius X, confirms [SSPX Superior-General Fellay's words] to Vatican Insider that the stage of full communion with the Lefebvrians is near. The accomplishment of the agreement is now in plain sight, even if some time is still needed.

  1. With the greatest joy I will be saying Adios to our Modernist Bishop. The moment Bishop Fellay gets that seal he then becomes my Diocesan Bishop. I will owe no obedience to the Modernists anymore. My obedience will be to His Excellency Bishop Bernard Fellay. We waited a long time for this and it was worth the pain of so many years. I cannot fully express what this joyful day means to me. They took the Church away from us and now its being given back to us. Thank you Eponymous Flower for having pulled me out of the pit of a shaken faith. DEO GRATIAS!!!

    1. You never owed any allegiance to Modernist Bishops - Modernism is a condemned heresy.

    2. UnamSanctam, What you say is very true. My dilemma is that I was just a first grader when V2 ended. We were programmed to believe that everything new was what the Church wanted and everything old was condemned by V2. We were programmed or rather brainwashed to believe this. To this day people my age will not attend a Tridentine Mass out of fear it would be a grave sin. This fear is real. Pope Benedict XVl himself said, "Many will not attend the ancient Mass because they were programmed that way". What I'm saying is what Pope Benedict spoke of. I still am confused at times and may accept compromises. When this became a crisis of faith for me, Tancred assured me on this blog not to be confused. Which is why I thanked Eponymous Flower Blog. Still because of the way I was programmed by the Modernists I still have to continue to fix the damage they have caused. I am confident that with the agreement signed by His Excellency Fellay, the errors instilled in my mind by Modernism will vanish in one moments time because I will then be subject to the sole authority of the Bishops of the SSPX. I will have the full freedom to be Catholic and have no qualms about rejecting Modernism in its entirety. There are many good Catholics in the Novus Ordo but sadly like my former self they are shackled by the Modernist Heresy. Sacred Heart of Jesus have Mercy on us. Immaculate Heart of Mary Pray for us.

    3. Anyone "shackled" by Modernism needs to learn the Catholic Faith. Sadly, this post by Pax Tecum betrays an infantile mentality that is always susceptible to crass clericalist manipulation---that is, "my faith and its practice are tied to what priests and bishops want and order, not what the immemorial Magisterium and Tradition and Scripture and the example of the saints teach." That is not Catholicism.

  2. With the agreement, Vatican II is proven once-and-for-all to be the "pastoral", non-binding series of suggestions that Pope John XXIII claimed it to be. Saying this as a poorly catechized novus ordo Catholic who discovered Tradition just a few years ago: God bless the Society, it's priests, religious and laypeople for their perseverance, and Archbishop Lefebvre for responding to God. Archbishop Lefebvre: Santo Subito!

    1. Andrew, As I myself being a poorly catechized Novus Ordo Catholic who discovered Tradition or rather Our Traditional Catholic God came looking for me through Tradition. I agree 100%, Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre: Santo Subito!

    2. Get the St. John Neumann Catechism. Short and to the point.

    3. Deharbe Catechism is good too.
Fortescue is a good source of info concerning the history & meaning of the 1945 Missal & pre-1950 Holy Week liturgies.

  6. I hope when this comes down, Fellay puts Francis on the spot by publicly inviting him to a Mass of Thanksgiving and says, "Holiness, we're so grateful, I'm afraid we refuse to take no for an answer."

  7. No doubt, the regularization will be good for the Church. However, most in the Novus Ordo wiLl still prefer liberal-Catholicism over orthodoxy.

  8. But surely all this is subject to a guarantee from Pope Francis that he will not interfere with the SSPX. I doubt if they will get that guarantee.

    1. There should be no deal in the actual V2 Doucuments and the implentation docs personal prelatures are under the local ordinary and the bishops council

  9. Having attended an SSPX church for nearly 30 years that if this so-called "deal" is signed it will be a sorry day for the SSPX, the priests and the faithful. Does +Fellay really believe that he can rely on these criminals to keep their word? Evidently. I've discussed this issue with our parish priest and he told me flat out that under pain of mortal sin no priest in the SSPX could go along with this type of arrangement. Why? SSPX take three solemn oaths before the open Tabernacle: 1) as a subdeacon, 2) as a deacon, 3) prior to ordination including the oath against Modernism.

Priests will leave, the faithful will leave and +Fellay will be left holding a bag of air.

  10. Bishop Fellay is nobody's fool. He is only doing what Archbishop Lefebvre said, "if Rome wants to talk the I will talk." Any agreement will be with the approval of the other Bishops.

  11. This is a positive development for the SSPX, i hope it happens sooner rather than later. There will be a surge in Mass attendance in their chapels, maybe from the curious. From the curious there will arise those who will be attracted to the pre vatican 2 liturgy.

  12. I long for the reconciliation with Rome. I will go to Pius x for confession but not mass until their mass is both valid and licit
