Rome Makes New Proposal to SSPX

[Cathcon] The Holy See has made a new proposal to the Society of St. Pius X. Specifically, it relates to the status of the SSPX. The Fraternity is not canonically recognized and therefore for decades has been in a state of suspension, which leads to different interpretations among canon lawyers and bishops as to whether it is part of the Catholic Church or not.

A sedivacantist website of the United States claimed that an agreement between the SSPX which was founded by Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre and Rome was imminent. This was denied to gloria.tv by Father Franz Schmidberger, Rector of the International Seminary of the SSPX in Zaitzkofen in Bavaria.

Father Schmidberger confirmed the proposal, but denies agreement.

Surely the SSPX will stay clear of these "Romans with Leprosy"

The faithful have need of a greater and canonical presence of the SSPX.

We were told there will be no agreement, at all, with or without "doctrinal issue".

Unless any agreement between the modernists in Rome and the SSPX includes a red hat for Bishop Fellay and the likelihood he'd be elected pope, the SSPX should stay as far away from the Bergoglians as possible. Clearly, Bergoglio and his gang operate under the theory "keep your friends close and your enemies even closer". They would draw the SSPX in close and then go for the kill shot. No thanks.

Francis and his gang are Machiavellians to the marrow of the bone. Any proximity to them is lethal and would only serve their plan for the destruction of the Church. The SSPX would do well to avoid them like the Bubonic plague. Why the need for canonical recognition from these heretics, anyway? Catholics who are still after such legal niceties in the present storm we are enduring are arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic and deserve every abuse and polluted versions of the Faith dished out to them by the Modernists. They should have more trepidation for Card Mueller than for the Pope.

SSPX must keep far away from modernists Rome , the existence of the proposal is also very dangerous . It is the root cause for all kinds of rumours including from the resistance group . Have to wait patiently till 2017 or atleast Pope Francis resigns which is likely to happen in another six months
time. Let the Divine Providence act. Let us pray to our BVM.

Once berGOGlio makes a deal, the SSPX will suffer the same fate as the FFI.

So many have committed suicide in Paris since Catholic religious leaders have not told them there is a big surprise waiting for them : SSPX is prudently silent too

The SSPX is of no value to the Church as long as they lack any legitimate canonical standing. I understand wanting a settlement that will preserve their freedom of action, but I can't understand the attitude of "no reconciliation ever." That is baffling to
me. It is Rome that is the heart of the Church - not Econe. Rome may be in some terrible
messes, but Rome can endure without the SSPX ultimately, but the SSPX cannot endure without Rome in the long run. The Church needs them reconciled, not off on their own.

Absolutely agreed....but now is not that time.

The comment of Boniface above lacks both historical perspective and clear logic. It is not a question of the "either/or/fallacy": Rome or Econe. The SSPX has never set itself up as a "little Rome." The wolves who now occupy Rome are the ones who, ironically, are not in communion with Catholic Rome. And it is the height of absurdity (if not ill will) to say that the SSPX "is of no value to the Church as long as they lack any legitimate canonical standing." They provide the sacraments in their traditional form and validity to countless Catholics around the entire world, they are a witness to the perfidy of the Modernists, they teach the unadulterated and unecumenical Faith of the ages, they assist the dying in their last hour, they educate tens of thousands of Catholic children in the Faith unlike the faithless parochial schools, they form hundreds of vocations to the religious life and the sacred priesthood---and Boniface says they are of no value to the Faith. That statement is not only sheer idiocy, but also obscene and defamatory. It is also barren legalism and phariseism.I guess Boniface would have considered the manly and Catholic resistance of St. Athanasius in the fourth century to the Arians and the semi-Arian pope at the time "of no value to the Church." What sterile, unCatholic legalism lies behind such thinking! The Bonifaces in the Church richly deserve Francis and all his wiles. RC

"Rome" stands for the true Faith, the true Tradition and Magisterium of the Church, not opponents of the Faith who may hold the papal and other high office of the visible Church.

Boniface's comment is precise Catholic theology. As even Benedict XVI said the SSPX have no canonical standing in the Church. Let us hope they see the darkness of their sin and humbly accept in filial obedience whatever the Holy Father offers them.

exactly, exactly, exactly.

What makes you think Bergoglio will likely resign in 6 months time? I'd like to believe that will happen, but he strikes me as someone who won't go until he's fully reinvented the Church to his own liking. In other words, until he's taken Catholicism out of the Church.

Archbishop Lefebvre made it crystal clear shortly before his death - no deal with liberal modernist Rome was possible until it came back to the true faith of "Eternal Rome". Bishop Fellay, even at the cost of over 100 good priests to his last disastrous error of judgement with the canny Pope Ratzinger, still has not learned yet - a deal with The Devil is no deal at all. The community at Papa Stronsay and the Institute of the Good Shepherd have already found out what that kind of agreement leads to. Anyone with any good sound Roman Catholic sense knows that you cannot make any arrangement with a counterfeit masonic clique who run this neo-church of the pantheistic tendency. It was time to head for the mountains 50 years ago.

Boniface's comment is nothing but the sort of blind obedience and rancid clericalism that has delivered the Bride of Christ, the Church, to her very enemies by rendering the Catholic flock indifferent, ignorant, and pliable. There is not one syllable of sound Catholic theology in his comments or in the perfidious papolatry that plays into the hands of Modernists. There is only blind obedience and cowardice. Archimago

I hope that the SSPX accepts the agreement. But if it contains requirements that they accept anything of the Modernist heresy then I hope they reject it. The Maccabees preferred death rather than to compromise. If it were not for the example of the Maccabees I would say that the SSPX accept any agreement and then do like the Modernists, renege on the agreement. The Church needs the SSPX!

On the whole, Robbie, hasn't that already been successfully accomplished? A new religion shoved into old buildings.

You sound like a paid agent talking to brain dead suburban novus ordo types. No offense but for you to say that Boniface means you either don't know your faith as well as you think or,you are here to cause division, play on people's ignorance, and pull out the "obey..the gates of hell can't prevail" trump card.Either way you need a new shtick, the 80's are over.If the novus ordo is the Catholic Church (which is not true)then the gates of Hell have prevailed.

There is no crisis in the Church! The CATHOLIC CHURCH IS ALIVE AND WELL.We have been reduced to a small remnant who keep the true faith, true mass, true Sacraments, and are treated as outcasts by the masonic new age V2 sect.
We worship as you once worshiped
We believe as you once believe
We pray as you once prayed
If we were right then you are wrong now
If we were wrong then you are wrong now
