Edit: you'd think that after being burned by the Freemason who founded the Pope's favorite morning news read, he wouldn't grant anymore interviews. Then again, considering that the divorced and remarried frequently went to Communion in Buenos Aires before Bergoglio was Pope, why would such a statement be surprising? He's just floating more trial balloons being heard in the court of public opinion.
[Catholic Herald] The Vatican has said that an interview which quotes the Pope as saying that “all divorced who ask will be admitted” to Communion is “in no way reliable” and “cannot be considered as the Pope’s thinking”.
In an article in La Repubblica, Eugenio Scalfari said the Pope made the comment during a phone interview.
According to a translation by traditionalist blog Rorate Caeli, Pope Francis said: “The diverse opinion of the bishops is part of this modernity of the Church and of the diverse societies in which she operated, but the goal is the same, and for that which regards the admission of the divorced to the Sacraments, [it] confirms that this principle has been accepted by the synod.

ReplyDeleteIn view of the previous incidents with Scalfari it is incredible that Pope Francis should grant him another interview. It is surely irresponsible? On the other hand if he is trying to float an idea to see the reaction then that is appalling. The words attributed to Lombardi suggest the latter - the leaked statement which you subsequently deny.

DeleteAnd as expected, the Vatican spokesman Lombardi has "denied" that that could be the Pope's thinking. Nothing to see here.

ReplyDeleteI think there is a growing revulsion against Francis in the Vatican, Rome, Italy and elsewhere due to this and other examples of his antics.
ReplyDeleteFrancis should he thrown out on his rear-end and back to Argentina.
He seems determined to pull the Catholic Church down before he dies.
He should be made to leave, and all his henchmen with him.
And as to Fr. Lombardi stating that it couldn't possibly be Pope Francis making those comments about divorce in the interview....I think that many, many Cardinals and good Bishops know it really is Francis.
Don't be surprised some day if Francis suddenly announced his resignation. What is going on now, with all the leaks and scandals is a million times worse than anything under Benedict XVI.
Benedict XVI should have stayed in, and had the backbone to have heads roll (the liberal ones who kept trying to undermine him)
