Did German Bishops Recently Attempt to Prevent Müller's Appointment as Cardinal? German Press Calls him the "New Ottaviani"

One or more German bishops may have until recently tried to sway Francis' sentiment against the appointment of Prefect of the Congregation of the Faith, Archbishop Gerhard Ludwig Müller as cardinal, reports the "Passau Neue Presse"

Vatican (kath.net) According to the "Passau Neue Presse" one or more German bishops had last attempted to sway Francis' sentiment against appointing the CDF Archbishop Gerhard Ludwig Müller a cardinal. The "Passau Neue Presse" relies for this proposition on "information from Church circles". Pope Francis had overruled these objections against Archbishop Müller. The elevation to cardinal should, therefore, be taken as a direction decision of the Pope.

The Pope is supposed to have been presented two newspaper publications in which Müller was evaluated rather negatively. On the one hand this was an article in the weekly newspaper "Die Zeit", in which the Archbishop has been called "the most stubborn adversary" of Pope Francis. On the other hand, a contribution by Hans Küng in the "Passau Neue Presse", in which Müller was referred to as a "new Cardinal Ottaviani," who feels called to, "impose his conservative opinion of the faith on the Pope, the Council and to the whole Church."

I should think that anyone with even the vaguest conservative leanings would be described as the "new Cardinal Ottaviani."
Küngism has brought the German Church low.

Muller is not exactly a pillar of orthodoxy. He does however seem to think that he is the boss. In his bottomless arrogance he thinks that he need only deem someone to be in schism and voila!...they are no longer Catholic. Perhaps that is what these equally arrogant German bishops fear. After all, these Conciliarists truly believe that THEY can create their own Church. They are all little Martin Luthers.

Well, I have not been overly impressed with Muller but if Kung is against him, that cannot be a bad thing.

That only makes him a lesser of two evils.

Not fit to tie Ottaviani's shoes... everything that great cardinal predicted about VII came to pass...

He's sort of taking on the role Benedict had when he was in CDF, but I don't think++++M is as bright.

Anything or anyone pronounced "New" in the postmodernist "neo"-catholic church should be treated with utmost suspicion. New Dawn, New Evangelisation; Renew; the Renewal movement and Neo-Catechumenal Way etc. Cardinal Ottaviani was not arrogant and did not invent new interpretations of Roman Catholic doctrines as this fellow Muller. Indeed, he is new in his post under a new pope. The "new" tells me all I need to know.

Coming from Hans Kung, this is a scream. Take it with a grain of salt.

Although I always marvel how anyone like him or his kind can see the splinter in everyone else's eyes but never there own - i.e. imposing their opinions about the pope, council and the church on others.

He ought to practice what he preaches.
