Novus Horror Missae: Clarification on Star Wars Mess

Edit: Michael Hichborn sent this to us last week. Better late than never. I would have thought that after Dale Fushek that people would have cooled on this sort of thing.

The following "explanation" of the liturgical banality appeared on the pastor's Facebook page.

I just got this statement ostensibly from St. Bernard of Clarivaux Church posted to the comments section of my article on the matter:

"At the parish of St. Bernard, we celebrate the Family Mass every Sunday at 11:30AM. At this liturgy, the children of the parish are invited to processes in with the priest and sit in the sanctuary until the conclusion of the Homily, at which point they return to their parents in the pews for the Liturgy of the Eucharist. At the Family Mass, different scenes taken from the popular culture and the daily experience of the children are used to assist the celebrant relay the message of that week’s Gospel to the children. The Family Mass is occasionally followed with, upon the conclusion of Mass, a social for the families held in the school auditorium or in the parish garden. Examples of such Family Masses include All Saints Day when the children dress in the costume of their favorite saint, Pumpkin Patch Sunday, Ice Cream Sunday Sunday, the Backpack Blessing Sunday which is held the week school begins, Monthly Class Mass, and other which are held for our children and families throughout the year.

In the instance of Star Wars, this is a very popular film series among children and their parents. The intention of this Mass is to be a way to enhance the children’s understanding of the difference between good and evil and the ultimate triumph of good over evil. The children were invited to dress in costumes of characters from Star Wars and participate in the same way they normally do at each Family Mass. Upon the conclusion of the Mass, refreshments will be provided for the families in the school auditorium, along with appearances by some of the characters from the movie in the auditorium.

At St. Bernard Parish, we are always looking for ways to engage our young people and instruct them in the ways of our Catholic faith and tradition."

Star Wars Mess

I

"On Sunday, Jan. 31, head down to St. Bernard's Parish in Mill Basin for a very special treat: a #StarWars themed Mass! Kids can come dressed as their favorite character and there will be snacks in the auditorium after the Mass! Be sure to be there at 11:30 AM and May the Force be with you!"

Gaudete Sunday Liturgical Abuse in Puglia

Edit: this abomination just has to be pointed out. The Diocese of San Severo is presently headed by Lucio Angelo Renna, O. Carm., and is located in Puglia, Italy not far from the Adriatic. Recently, this morning in fact, a local priest, Francesco Cicorella, held the following Gaudete Sunday "Mass" at the parish of San Bernardino. It appears the local pastor is something of a Pied Piper. The priest keeps a Facebook account where he published this video.

Novus Horror Missae: Another Pool Mass

Update: they've taken this thing down. But Deacon Kandra has linked here and asks for an explanation. Isn't a picture with a thousand words?

http://www.patheos.com/blogs/deaconsbench/2014/08/dear-la-salle-college-high-school-would-you-like-to-explain-this-please/

We just got this and it's predictable.  We've always wondered why people insist that these abominations are so rare. This is another sacrilegious "Pool Mass"  by Father Tony Janton at La Salle College High School in Wyndmoor, PA on the Feast of the Assumption, August 15 2014. Photo is from the School's Facebook page.
It even has 81 likes with some enthusiastic endorsements.  There's practically nothing Catholic about the school from its Facebook page, just a name and some statues on the property.

Sign of Peace Yes, But Without Confusion --- Pope Francis Corrects an Abuse

The Priest Leaving the Altar is a Liturgical Abuse
(Rome) The sign of peace in the New Roman Rite caused quite a mess. It is limited in the Old Rite only to the chancel and is exchanged in a dignified, unobtrusive way, it was expanded in the new rite to all participants in the Mass. With the right numbers, some believers and priests have their hands full. The greeting of peace will remain with the new provisions in the same place in the Holy Mass as before, namely shortly before communion. However, there are abuses to be corrected, which have crept in since the liturgical reform.
In some parishes, there is the greeting of peace, great confusion up to the point of a new year's party. Some of the faithful, but also priests,  mistake the liturgical greeting of peace with the bourgeois greeting habit and decide that they   want to welcome as many attendees as possible. Some priests even leave even the sanctuary, to go into the nave and shake a lot of hands. In some places Small Talk is entertained, which leads to the trivialization of the sacredness of the Mass. The greeting of peace should be the unexcited  symbolic gesture to bystanders in the neighboring pews, but not around all sides, those accessible front and rear. At the papal Mass in Bethlehem last 25 May, the  Muslim Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas was curiously nearby at the sign of peace with the Pope on the altar  to visibly exchange an embrace. [The embrace implies mutual orthodoxy.]

Liturgical abuse: Inappropriate forms the sign of peace and walking around in the nave during  Holy Mass.
In contrast, the Congregation for Divine Worship now has intervened under its Prefect, Cardinal Antonio Cañizares Llovera. It has sent a circular letter to all bishops' conferences of the world. The circular is signed by Cardinal Cañizares and the Secretary of the Congregation, Archbishop  Arthur Roche and is reminiscent of the study on the subject, which was created as part of the Synod of Bishops on the Eucharist in 2005.
The circular cites the Congregation for Divine Worship, which Pope Benedict XVI. in the Post-Synodal Apostolic Exhortation Sacramentum Caritatis which wrote on the Eucharist as "the source and summit of the life and mission of the Church". The number 49 of the letter is devoted to the "sign of peace".

The Sign of Peace

49. By its nature the Eucharist is the sacrament of peace. At Mass this dimension of the eucharistic mystery finds specific expression in the sign of peace. Certainly this sign has great value (cf. Jn 14:27). In our times, fraught with fear and conflict, this gesture has become particularly eloquent, as the Church has become increasingly conscious of her responsibility to pray insistently for the gift of peace and unity for herself and for the whole human family. Certainly there is an irrepressible desire for peace present in every heart. The Church gives voice to the hope for peace and reconciliation rising up from every man and woman of good will, directing it towards the one who "is our peace" (Eph 2:14) and who can bring peace to individuals and peoples when all human efforts fail. We can thus understand the emotion so often felt during the sign of peace at a liturgical celebration. Even so, during the Synod of Bishops there was discussion about the appropriateness of greater restraint in this gesture, which can be exaggerated and cause a certain distraction in the assembly just before the reception of Communion. It should be kept in mind that nothing is lost when the sign of peace is marked by a sobriety which preserves the proper spirit of the celebration, as, for example, when it is restricted to one's immediate neighbours (150).
Benedict XVI. added in the footnote 150 added:
Taking into account ancient and venerable customs and the wishes expressed by the Synod Fathers, I have asked the competent curial offices to study the possibility of moving the sign of peace to another place, such as before the presentation of the gifts at the altar. To do so would also serve as a significant reminder of the Lord's insistence that we be reconciled with others before offering our gifts to God (cf. Mt 5:23 ff.); cf. Propositio 23.
Before the Offertory is also the moment in which the sign of peace in the Ambrosian rite takes place, which is in the ecclesiastical province of Milan.

The New Guidelines of the Congregation for Divine Worship

Liturgical Abuse: The Muslim Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas at the greeting of peace with Pope Francis.
The circulars of the Congregation for Divine Worship, dated June 8 is approved by Pope Francis. On 7 June, the Pope received  Cardinal Cañizares in audience and approved the text to the Bishops' Conferences. It says that after consultation with the Bishops' Conferences about the greeting of peace at its previous location before Communion they are to make no structural changes to the Roman Missal.
At the same time, however, a number of practical guidelines would be adopted to remedy the abuses.
1) It is to be reminded that it is not necessary to mechanically invite the faithful every time to exchange the sign of peace. If it seems appropriate, one should pass it up.
2) It is recommended to improve the recommended procedures for the sign of peace in a new edition of the Missal by the Episcopal Conferences. A specific recommendation is here, for example, a more appropriate than familiar and profane gestures, to proceed with more appropriate gestures.

3) The Congregation for Divine Worship refers to the need that the following should be avoided in the greeting of peace: the establishment of a peace song which is non-existing in the Roman Rite; that the faithful leave their place; that the priest leaves the altar to enjoin some believers in the sign of peace. In addition, it is suggested to avoid that on special occasions such as high feasts of Easter, Christmas, baptisms, first communions, confirmations, weddings, ordinations, religious professions, requiems, the misuse of the greeting of peace to congratulate others, or express condolences to them.
4) The Bishops' Conferences are invited to develop liturgical catechesis on the importance of peace in the Roman Rite liturgy and on the correct procedure in the Holy Mass.
The circular already dated for June 8th was known about in Spain, where it was sent to all the bishops together with a letter of 28 July. "You will now see whether and how it is used: in Spain and elsewhere," said Sandro Magister of Vatican expert who introduced the matter.

Novus Horror Missae: Brazil Team Football Chasuble for World Cup

(Rio de Janeiro) Today was  the kickoff of the World Cup 2014. The hosting country of the greatest football spectacle is Brazil. Just what demonstrates enthusiasm for the leather ball, or it is better to speak of fanaticism, is shown by the Brazilian priest Luiz Carlos Magalhães.
As the Brazilian Correio Popular reported last week, Reverend Magalhães has customized his own chasuble in the colors of Brazil for the World Cup. But not only that  the Chasuble is decorated in green and yellow, there are  dozens of small Brazilian flags and footballs on it. Magalhães is pastor of the Catholic parish of Cristo Rei of Campinas and it is by no means the first time that the pastor Magalhães has behaved erratically. Already during the Football World Cups of 2002, 2006 and 2010, he celebrated the Holy Mass during the World Cup in his football chasuble.

"God is Brazilian, but I Fear Competition, Now There is an Argentinian Pope"

The closer to the World Cup, the more Pastor Magalhães gets out of control. Frankly, he appears in public, with his quirky "chasuble" to violate the liturgical norms, and has been doing this for 12 years. When asked about this   Magalhães replied: “What’s the harm? Everyone knows that God is Brazilian.” In 2014 concerned the football fanatics only care about one thing:  ".. I fear a strong competitor, now that the Pope is an Argentine.”  He had always been football enthused confesses the 67-year-old priest," The World Cup is a unique moment in our country. Brazil has many problems, but now is the time for joy, serenity and patriotism. Nuncio Intervenes Against Mass-Farce in the Archdiocese of Vienna

(Vienna) Because the competent Archbishop Christoph Cardinal Schönborn does not provide for order in his diocese, the Apostolic Nuncio, Archbishop Peter Stephan Zurbriggen has intervened. The reason is a  Mass scandal in the Archdiocese of Vienna. In Lower Austrian Kottingbrunn, a liturgical  farce was posted on Sunday, June 2, 2013 which simulated  holy Mass.
With the consent of the absent pastor Walter Reichel,  a man and a woman simulated Holy Mass in liturgical vestments. The woman said even the Eucharistic Prayer. For one of the  faithful it was too colorful at  least at this point. He protested loudly in the church against the scandal and left the farce mass.  However, his outburst at the affair was of no avail. Archbishop Cardinal Schönborn acted as "ostrich" (Ariel Levi di Gualdo, see separate report Church is not Groaning Under Too Much but Too Little Authority - The Case of Martha Heizer, will be translated shortly.) and has remained inactive. Finally, the apostolic nunio has now intervened in Austria, Archbishop Zurbriggen has demanded that Cardinal Schönborn   take the necessary measures to stop the outrageous spectacle.
As it turned out, it is located in the almost 40 kilometers from Vienna Kottingbrunn where it is “customary" that laymen recite the Gospel and preach. The Mass scandal is justified alternately by the "shortage of priests" and the “appreciation of the laity."

Pastor Belongs to the “Disobedient" Priests

Pastor Walter Reichel is one of the signatories of the "Call to Disobedience" the priest rebels of the former Vienna Vicar General Helmut Schüller. Reichel was appointed in 1982 by Cardinal Franz König as pastor of Kottingbrunn, and who takes his rebellion seriously. In any “liturgy" he prays for an intercession of  "church reform.”  As to what that means, you may ask the Pastor’s Initiative.
After the excommunication of Martha Heizer, the chairman of the radically progressive club "We are the Church," with her husband at home in the living room (Diocese of Innsbruck) celebrated a farce mass, so another scandal mass was made performed in Kottingbrunn. It is a signal that the bishops of Austria have lost partial control over their priests, and their visitation requirement is not yet fulfilled. When the Nuncio Archbishop demanded an explanation of Schönborn for the scandalous incident, he also had to admit that what had taken place  in Kottingbrunn  was an "unauthorized and misleading liturgy of the Word," although he found it difficult himself in the naming of the scandal. So wrote the cardinal, in which "worship” was spoken  in a "very misleading way, a kind of canon."

After the Heizer Case and Kottingbrunn: How Many Evils are There Diocese?

The simulation of a mass entails an automatic excommunication according to how case Heizer was revealed.
Above all,  to be cheated out of the graces of the Holy Mass and receiving Communion, because it is only a simulation, which is completely worthless in the substance, a farce mass for the faithful.
Pastor Reichel was finally quoted at the insistence of the Nuncio by Cardinal Schönborn in Vienna. As usual for Progressives he reveals nothing. It minimizes and insists that there had been a "Liturgy of the Word with Communion Celebration…  There were unequivocally  no spoken words of consecration,”  said  daily newspaper Die Presse, citing him .

Fraud with Mass Simulation - Failure of the Bishops

The fact that the liturgy of the word or “worship services” are a scam, is suppressed by the bishops.  It awakens  the impression equivalence in the minds of the faithful with a Holy Mass. This starts with the choice of words. In some parishes nothing  more than  “worship" is mentioned, so any difference between the Eucharist and Liturgy of the Word is equivocated. Outright fraud prevails when Mass offerings in memory of the deceased during “liturgies of the word" or “services" are accepted, as is detectable in the parishes as  practiced. The various stages of the simulation result in the pretense of grace flowing and cause confusion among the faithful. That in the case of Kottingbrunn the apostolic nuncio had to intervene to ensure that something is stirred which casts a revealing light on the state of the Austrian episcopate.

Masses for Remarried Divorced and Aberrosexuals with Communion "For Everyone"

(Vienna) A "disobedient" priest and a suspended deacon "anticipate the Vatican." They have announced that they will be offering this  summer of  their own "services for remarried divorcees, gays, lesbians and single mothers" as Die Kleine Zeitung Graz reported.
The whole thing takes place in the Diocese of Graz-Seckau in Pfarrverband Kirchberg an der Raab-St. Margaret in the Austrian province of Styria. Bernhard Preiss, the pastor of the parish association, is one of the "disobedient" priests of the Pfarrers Initiative of the former Vienna Vicar General and Caritas Director, Helmut Schüller.

"Disobedient" Pastor and Suspended Deacon

For Preiss and his deacon there are "signs of change". Starting this  summer the Parish Community will offer  a "service" for "remarried divorcees, homosexuals and single mothers", in which "all can receive Communion." The initiator and organizer is Deacon Gottfried Url, who defers together with pastor Preiß,  to Pope Francis. Deacon Url is actually no longer a Deacon because he was suspended from duty. He is himself  divorced and remarried and is thus is engaged in his own self-interest.
"I have now read many texts of the Pope - and everywhere  Francis writes of compassion and solidarity", said Url who is quoted by the Kleine Zeitung and draws  arbitrary and just as far-reaching conclusions. "My office has been made quiescent, but when I'm asked, I help", is how Url describes his idiosyncratic understanding of obedience. He "assists" at funerals, Easter food blessings or, "this year at the Easter Vigil in Loipersdorf".

Second Marriage "No Contradiction" Main Thing "First Partner is Financially not Left Hanging"

The fact that a second marriage is not contrary to the ideal of lifelong  bond  is something  of which the deacon is "convinced" for obvious reasons. The teaching of Christ on the sacrament of marriage does not seem essential to the "deacon".  What is "Important"   for him is only, "not to alienate first partner  and not to leave him financially in the lurch." Marriage teaching for him is just a product of Church history, which is why he also does not have to respect this.

"Spring Awakening in the Church" by Pope Francis

Pastor Preiß sees in  Pope Francis a "Spring awakening in the Church." In the new parish Journal 2 /2014 of the parish association, he writes: "Spring Awakening means that new impulses, the Sun of love and fertile rain of trust are also effective in the Church."   The new "Spring Awakening"  Preiß presents in direct connection with the Second Vatican Council, which had overcome "a 400-year long period of intransigence and control.". The Church's doctrine and its defense is reduced by the "disobedient" pastor to  "fears, institutional thinking, ideologies, stubbornness, habits, and questions of power." John XXIII. had  "reformed" the Church by the "vernacular", "people's altar", the "appreciation of laymen versus the Cleric (Priest) in the Church" and the "priesthood of all people." But then  "the reinforced rather re-enforced  reactionary forces."  Now, however, "only with Pope Francis, once again we hear other sounds from Rome."
The Austrian bishops returned from Rome "thrilled and full of praise." Cardinal Schönborn had admitted that they had yet  been too "timid" in Rome for "local church autonomy" and "decentralization". Preiss quotes the Cardinal with the words: "I struck    my bishop 's breast: We have surely trusted too little,  to say what our situation required and how we see things."  "A good, albeit late acknowledgment," says  the rebel Preiss who feels himself confirmed. According to Preiss also quotes the words of the Honduran Cardinal Maradiaga, who criticized  Cardinal Prefect Müller: "The world is my brother is not so. You should be a little flexible when you hear other voices. "

From "Carnival Mass" to "Homo-Liturgy"

For Pastor Preiß there is no Mass, but only "Worship". In  last March 2 he called on all "worshipers" to come "masked" as to the "Carnival Mass" because "God loves to laugh."
Url turns with his "service" to all of those who are "Excluded", he arbitrarily says. The "services" to be held "alternately in Kirchberg and St. Margaret" and  four times a year "on the first Sunday" in season. The first date is going to be 22 June at Kirchberg.

Pipe Ceremony Calls Down Occult Spirits at Minnesota Liturgy

[Minneapolis]  This is part two of a series of short videos featuring liturgical abuses by a dissident priest, Father Micahel Tegeder and Deacon Joseph Damiani.  The Archdiocese is well aware that this takes place every Sunday.  The Ojibway outreach, which looks more like a platform for nostalgic hippies to relive their past, has been in action since it was founded by Father Notebaart.

It's also a recipient of Catholic Outreach funds.

American Indians have been participating at Holy Mass for centuries without the benefit of such showmanship and shamanistic intervention.  The pipe ceremony is intended to "call down spirits", but just what spirits are being called down?

The following is a continuation of videos taken on Holy Saturday of 2012.

Horror Missae: Church as a Play Space for Children -- and Saps

Liturgical Carnival (New York / Munich) to American hard Thanksgiving was in the Calvert Hall College High Schoo, a "Thanksgiving Liturgy' celebrated in Maryland's Aula Magna of the Institute. Rorate Caeli published that picture speaks for itself. The same applies to the interdenominational project for youth churches in the German language area.

Dozens of projects of these youth churches there are dozens of these projects in the Federal Republic of Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Luxembourg. "Engaged know-how" supplier with several full-time employees is the association Juki (youth church). The project is funded by youth churches of the Catholic Church and Protestant churches. Service's performed without discrimination.

Among the promoters in Austria, is Vienna's Archbishop Christoph Cardinal Schönborn, who already participated in youth churches himself. Some pictures from youth churches in Catholic churches, threaten to deface, mask, caricature, camouflage and dechurch to lure young people into the church? Where the truths of faith wane, the symbols of the faith and the Church lose their meaning and have to be replaced by new "symbols". Without fuss, booming music, light show, dance performances, Flash Mob, climbing wall and swimming pool in the church, you can not keep the young people there? This opinion seems to be that of the youth churches and diocesan youth ministry responsible for supporting such projects. Otherwise, they would all "committed" expenses outside the church to perform where it belongs, and call the young people for prayer in the Church and the Holy Mass before or after. If only! But there will only images that cause pain.

Ed: you may visit the site and look at the blasphemy for yourself in  a slide show.

Versus Populum -- The New Church is Directed Towards the People of God

The "Spirit" of the Council

In the wake of the Jacobin Conciliar Spirit, the high altar is exchanged for a dining table. Christ is moved from the center

The high altar (and thus the sacrifice of Golgotha) was pushed to the back by a so-called people's altar (which often looks like a kitchen table), as the east darker from now on.

Completely without necessity an extremely financially expensive piece of furniture was placed between the high altar and the community, which is the spitting image of a Masonic a master's table. Further below you will find depictions of the Masonic altar, which looks like its apparent twin brother, to be confused with the so-called people's altar.

The priest turns his back on Christ

Since the implementation of a suitable people's altar, the priest turns his ass to the altar and attracts the attention of the audience to himself. Through this priestly dominance, everything is presently focused on the priest: on his sex life, his disobedience, his inability in group dynamic etc.

Jesus Christ is barely present in the new Mass, since the sacrifice is offered in the new church facing the audience (versus populum).

It was a masterpiece performance of the Jacobin Conciliar Spirit to bring in almost all the churches a Masonic table in Catholic churches, forcing the priest to turn away from God and to turn toward God's people (versus populum).

The person of the priest binds the attention of the community and distracts them from God. This is the tragedy of the modern priest - if this tragedy is not intended: the modern priest obstructs the view of Christ. The community will not be raised to God, but lowered from.

From the new Catholic churches, lodges were un-Catholic temples in which disobedience, breaking celibacy and self-aggrandizement are to be preached and man emancipated from God. In the modern aggiornamento Church, the priest turns propagandistically to the emancipated group (versus populum), talks a lot of nonsense and suppresses the truth.

Thus the mass is cut from the truth, Jacobin Church people do not get bored, an atmospheric activity of games and  satanic self-celebration is entered into in the new Mass instead of being in the presence of the Victim.

Horror Mass: "Circus Liturgy" in Solothurn -- The Simony of Circus Priest Heller

(Zurich) Horror Missae. The liturgical abuse took place in December of 2012. But the Advent season is approaching and with it the danger of a repetition of this liturgical elefantism in a china shop. Children's Relief Bethlehem opened up their Christmas fundraising campaign with a "worship in the circus tent" in Circus GO (Gasser Olympia) in Solothurn  .

Contortionists and belly dancers were mustered for the "Circus Liturgy", which was celebrated by Canon and Cathedral Pastor Paul Rutz with "Circus Priest" Ernst Heller. The body of Christ was carried from the table at the circus gala in a wooden bowl and distributed to the gala participants (worshippers) seated at tables.

"The collection in the Christmas worship services was to support the financial foundation for securing work in the Caritas Baby Hospital in Bethlehem," as the Children's Aid Bethlehem writes. Paul Rutz, Resident since 2006, is canon for the area of Solothun in the diocese of Basel and Cathedral Pastor of Solothurn, retired since last June due to age. He is also Vice President of the Children's Relief Bethlehem. Already in December 2011, the Mass was celebrated in Solothurn by the two priests in a "Circus Liturgy" for the Children's Aid Bethlehem. It could not be ascertained if there is one planned for 2013.

"Circus pastor" Ernst Heller from the canton of Lucerne is in charge of the traveler people (Gypsies). After the completion of the Catechetical Institute Lucerne, he worked as a catechist and studied theology from 1977 to 1979 in Lucerne and Chur. In 1980 he was ordained a priest and worked in parish ministry. He was also appointed to the circus and fairground chaplain in 1999. There is nothing wrong so far. Since August 2005, he occupied the office full time and obviously quite arbitrarily.

According to his own report, he hasn't received a "consistent salary" from the Catholic Church, which is why he receives "honorarium fees". On his own website, you can order the "circus priest's" quite unorthodox "book" and learn also about the "honoraria". Costs at a baptism for a "priest" according to Heller's fee table, costs 500-1,000 Swiss francs plus VAT. A wedding ceremony costs 1,000-2,000 Swiss francs, an annual memorial service and "liturgical celebrations" cost CHF 500-1,000, a funeral service with burial 800-2000 CHF. The prices are for individuals. "Donation fees" for legal entities must be requested separately. Same price for the Federal Republic of Germany, Austria, Italy and France, but in Euros, in each case for a half day. A full day costs a premium of 50 percent. Travel expenses will be charged separately with Swiss francs per kilometer journey. The circus pastor even charges "cancellation fees". If the cancellation occurs 30 days prior to the occasion, it calculates 50 percent, then 100 percent. These "fees" are strictly prohibited canonically.

"Pope Wojtyla Accepted Liturgical Dance" -- Piero Marini's Recollections and Justifications

(Rome) Curial Archbishop Piero Marini, the master of ceremonies of Pope John Paul II, not to be confused with Monsignor Guido Marini, the master of ceremonies of Pope Benedict XVI., continuing under Pope Francis, held a lecture in Parona at the invitation of Pastore Caritas. Piero Marini, since 2007, who has been responsible for the International Eucharistic Congresses, spoke of his time with the Polish Pope, and perhaps talked more about himself than about John Paul II, especially in his descriptions which were justifications of his own work, for which he uses the Pope died in 2005 (who is to be canonized in 2014) posthumously as his leading chief witness. He also made what were nothing more or less than subtle swipes in his "advice", as to which decisions would wish to see made by the Church.

Piero Marini attracted negative attention after the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI. Once, because of his advocacy for the recognition of homosexual partnerships. On the other hand in an underhanded attack on the German Pope, whom he had obviously never forgiven for his dismissal as papal master of ceremonies and the initiation of a liturgical renewal away from Piero Marini's "Designer" Masses. In the words of the Archbishop released last April in an interview with El Pais he said: "One can already breathe the fresh air. It is a window that is opening to the spring and hope. Till now we have been breathing the bad air of swampy waters."

John Paul II had Given a "Wide Berth" - Piero Marini's Historical Misrepresentation of Liturgical Reform From 1970

So John Paul II said jokingly to Marini in 1995 when he was papal master of ceremonies for eight years, "You are 53 years old and are still an acolyte? When I was an archbishop you were still an acolyte." Marini said: "I did not say anything, but inside I was thinking, if you would want, it would be because of you ..." Three years later, he was made Titular Archbishop Piero Marini in 2003. His successor Guido Marini was made Honorary Prelate of His Holiness with his appointment as master of ceremonies by Benedict XVI. Since, there were no more promotions.

Piero Marini was in charge of papal liturgies. John Paul II had left him "wide berth" as the Archbishop Curia said. Marini had intimated that John Paul II had not been so concerned with liturgical issues and had been so glad that someone else did it for him. Piero Marini comes from the Bugnini-school and was already active under Paul VI. in the Commission for the Implementation of the Postconciliar liturgical reform, introduced with the Novus Ordo. In Marini's representation it seems as if the Second Vatican Council had been decided and introduced a radical reform of the Liturgy with the Constitution Sacrosanctum Conciulium, which had to be carried out then. A veritable historical misrepresentation, which says a lot about the influential liturgist.

Thus, Piero Marini points out that his position as papal master of ceremonies there had allowed him to implement "efficiently" the guidelines of the Second Vatican Council: "It is the inclusion of some elements, at the entrance, the Offertory, which is part of the life of a country, where participants who are guests to the Mass will be instantly familiar. Also in song and sometimes even the dance." Piero Marini dug deeply for the dances: "John Paul II liked it all, he always wanted to share the customs and traditions ".

Dance in the Liturgy - Prelates Disapproved, but John Paul II said, "Beautiful, Beautiful"

"When we were in Brazil," he had been asked if the dancers of the local ballet school could be involved, "and we had agreed. They are then on two stairways that flanked up the altar. During the dance, a wind arose and their light dresses had stuck to their bodies. Some prelates expressed their disapproval. They had not heard Pope John Paul II. I was the only one beside him and as he softly said, 'Beautiful, beautiful.' He looked at the essence." He continued: "During seminary they taught us to kill the body, but we save ourselves with the body. "

Piero Marini also tells an episode that is directed against the then President of the Italian Bishops' Conference, Cardinal Camillo Ruini. He had disapproved of it, that in the Youth Liturgy some teenagers were introduced that moved their arms during the celebration. The Cardinal had expressed his disapproval to the Pope directly: "Even in this case John Paul II made it understood that their presence did not bother him."

For John Paul II, who came from the Eastern Bloc, the Celebration Outdoors was Very Important

The Pope celebrated anywhere before hundreds of thousands, millions of believers. Very often, indeed almost always outdoors. Piero Marini wrote: "For him who came from communist Poland, where Christendom was banished from the churches, in order to comply with the ban, the Masses were set up to take place outside, in order to have visibility."

The Curial Archbishop told of an episode in a pastoral visit to a Roman parish. Because there was no space in front of the Church it was celebrated in the Church, although the many believers could not find a place. "John Paul II said to me that it should still be celebrated. I told him that that was not possible, there was only the street. He replied: "We would still have to celebrate outside."

Piero Marini: "The Eucharist originated in homes, for a small group of people. Jesus put it in the midst of the twelve Apostles, then the breaking of the bread took place in the first years of Christianity in small communities in houses. Certainly not in front of millions of people. It was inevitable that it happened, and we had to adapt, because the situation demanded it."

Liturgical Relativism: Liturgy Coordinator Addresses Liturgical Abuse by Milan's Auxiliary Bishop

Liturgical Horror
Edit: a few days ago a liturgical abuse was occasioned by the Auxiliary Bishop of Milan in the wake of World Youth Day.

(Milan) The liturgical trampling underfoot by the Vicar General and Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Milan, Monsignor Mario Delpini, at a Mass which was said for young Catholics before their departure for the World Youth Day in 2013 leading to Rio de Janeiro, has caused a stir ( see separate report in Italian...). During the doxology of the Eucharistic Prayer he allowed young people at the altar to act as priests and face the faithful holding the chalice with the blood of Christ and the ciborium with the body of Christ at the Volksaltar [Cramner Table for the initiated] during the elevation. The traditional website Messa in Latino urges addressing Don Pierantonio Tremolada, to protest to the liturgical representative of the Archdiocese, and so did Msgr. Tremolda himself, the New Testament exegete, which in addition to his role as liturgical officer is also rector for the formation of permanent deacons Archdiocese of Milan, has now answered. Here is the response of Bishop Tremolada and the reaction to it from Messa in Latino:

Dear Editor,
I am absolutely convinced that the gesture had on the photo that you submit as evidence the intention 'to give young people the feeling during the week of World Youth Day to be actors the (as the Pope yesterday [Monday] said .) "We are not, moreover, certain that it was decided by His Excellency, Mgr Delpini: it is not always the decision by the head celebrant as to the liturgical gestures, sometimes they are enacted at the last moment on the instructions of others.
What is absolutely certain is that no one wanted to be disrespectful in any way to the Eucharist. I would add in this context that I am affected by the sentence at the end of your e-mail and regret it: words such as "do the Mass" do not seem to me to do justice to the height of the Eucharistic Mystery, which you want to safeguard. Be assured in any case, that the whole purpose on our side is a given, that our young people have a high regard for the what we consider to be the heart not only of the priestly ministry, but the whole life of the Church.
Sincerely,
Don Pierantonio Tremolada

The reaction of Messa in Latino to Msgr Tremolada:

Dear Don Pierantonio,
Thanks for the kind reply.
Two small observations: although we understand the meaning of your implementations, we don't share them completely: the fact that the "Presider" [1] receives all of the instructions as to liturgical gestures, it also follows that it is neither an excuse nor a mitigating circumstance. If the celebrant detects errors and illegalities in the instructions he received, he could waylay their execution.
Secondly, you complain legitimately that what I have written in the phrase "do the Mass" is not appropriate. Completely justifiable. It was the formulation of an adolescent. However, we have emphasized that the prescribed gestures of a bishop especially during Holy Mass at its height and were appropriate. And even less worthy were those gestures set during the same Mass by adolescents.
Perhaps it would be appropriate to direct attention from the "words" to focus on the "deeds".
I request the permission to publish your email with the answer to our mail on our blog. If you do not agree, we will not publish.
Again with warm regards and best wishes for the summer time, I thank you for the constructive discussions

See You Soon,

For the editors of Messa in Latino

  1. i the original „President“: Don Tremolada used the formulation "presidente", president, hence the reason for the  quotation marks in the answer. []

Do Modern Priests Have the Freedom to Do Whatever They Want? -- Liturgical Abuse

(Rome) The traditional website Messa in Latino has reported on the correspondence between a Catholic woman and the Curia of the northern Italian diocese p * of the behavior of a priest incardinated in this diocese. With the following letter, the Catholic turned to the Curia:
"I do not know if it's the same priest or one of a similar name. I refer to Don DZ, who ought to be incardinated according to my search on the internet, in your diocese. It is important to me to report the invalidity of last Sunday’s Mass celebrated by him on the cruise ship C.M.. When the gospel should have been carried forward, the priest said, 'Let there be but these things'.  Instead, he called - I repeats: during the honoring of the Gospel - four people of whom he was asked questions in this way, 'What do you expect from life’ and other similar incoherent platitudes. I refused to continue to participate, because I was taught that the Holy Mass is Calvary and the sacrifice of the cross and walked away.  On television I could celebrate the Holy Mass  from B.. Friends told me later that Don Z. has invited by the faithful at the end to read the Sunday Gospel at home. I hope that the Church hierarchy is engaged in putting an end to liturgical abuses. I would want a sign of proof of receipt. I beg your pardon, I thank you for your attention. "
The Vicar General of the Diocese P. replied immediately: "Dear Mrs. S., I thank you for the message, it is a really unfortunate incident. I would urge that you contact the priest as soon as possible. Sincerely, Don PD, Vicar General ".
From a comment of Messa in Latino: "Given the fact that many priests, are only a little traditionally friendly, they must pay for their attention and love for the old Mass dearly, we are really excited to see what measures the Diocesan Curia P. will take against serious abuse. "

Pope Francis Kneels to Abuse the Liturgy, But Not to Venerate the Bread of Life

Our fathers did eat manna in the desert, as it is written: He gave them bread from heaven to eat. Then Jesus said to them: Amen, amen, I say to you; Moses gave you not bread from heaven, but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is that which cometh down from heaven and giveth life to the world. They said therefore unto him: Lord, give us always this bread. And Jesus said to them: I am the bread of life. He that cometh to me shall not hunger: and he that believeth in me shall never thirst.

Edit:  Question: If the Pope can commit liturgical abuses and kneel to wash and kiss the feet of 12 children, is it not also possible that he can kneel and venerate the Host and Blood of God made present on the altar? I hope no one will try and equate the two, but people often do equate themselves with God.

There’s very frank reporting of this event at Catholic Family News, no frills, just sober reporting what was said and done. That this is a liturgical abuse which has been repeatedly condemned by the Vatican is indisputable. Unfortunately, this ritual, which dates from a 50s revision of the liturgy, is in itself a kind of novelty as FatherZ has said. It is meant to elucidate the commemoration Christ’s establishment of the Sacrament of Holy Orders, the priesthood, which does not include women.

Rorate is declaring the death of the Reform of the Reform. Actually, it seems that it was being killed off months before Benedict had resigned shortly after Vatileaks broke.

So, to the strumming of maudlin guitars playing a folk song, Pope Francis went to 12 trouble makers, two of them female, kneeling to wash their feet. He knelt with great difficulty on the floor and seemed to find the work very taxing as he was assisted by two acolytes. One wonders then, why he can not also kneel (a question asked by Roman Catholic Imperialist last week) before the Blessed Sacrament as well, since he’s willing to go to the trouble of washing the feet of two girls, in violation of Vatican ruling during a feast which celebrates Christ’s establishment of the priesthood.

Rome Reports has a very good description of what happened and you can see the Holy Father being helped up by two acolytes toward the end of the video:

Pope Francis Has Not Been Enthroned in His Basilica

Edit: While Pope Francis seems to be on the brink of committing a liturgical abuse in his Holy Thursday Liturgy at a juvenile detention center, and has congratulated the Archbishop of Canterbury  on his own enthronement, the Argentine pope has some unfinished business in addition to that, and perhaps it will be left that way too. Pope Francis has not yet taken possession of his Cathedral, St. John Lateran.  Usually, the seat is occupied in a solemn enthronement Mass not too many days after the inauguration.

Could this be part of Francis attempt to unthrone the Papacy and present himself only as a primus inter pares to the world than Christ’s Vicar on Earth?  Certainly it is the case that his election has been met with almost delirious approval on the part of many undesirable personalities in the modern Church.

A faithful commenter reports:

The Ordo Rituum pro Ministerii Petrini Initio Romae Episcopi thus approved in 2005 contains not only the rite of the Mass of the Inauguration, but also that of the Mass of the Enthronement of the new Pope on the Cathedra Romana, the chair of the Bishop of Rome, in the Lateran Basilica, Rome's cathedral and the Roman Catholic Church's primary Basilica, outranking even the Vatican Basilica. Popes usually take possession of the Lateran Basilica within a few days of the inauguration of the pontificate. Pope Benedict XVI did so on 7 May 2005. This rite, known in Latin as the incathedratio, is the last ceremony marking the accession of a new Supreme Pontiff.

Liturgical Abuse at Pisa Seminary

(Pisa) A serious liturgical abuse occurs in the Italian city of Pisa with its famous leaning tower next to the cathedral. The Archdiocesan seminary is open to the public for  Holy Mass every Wednesday. On this day, the seminary organized  a contribution to youth ministry, a “Bible class", to learn about the Bible. The Mass is not  celebrated in the seminary chapel, but next door in "a horrendous chapel which is connected to a student's home. I've never seen such an ugly chapel,  that I can not even describe it, it is so ugly,” says Ester Ledda of the website Papale Papale.
The seminarians wear "instead of cassocks, horrendous shirts that would put even Monsignor Ravasi into a state of shock." The celebrant, “who, contrary to the homily, amazingly rushed the Eucharistic Prayer", he invited cleric and lay, to the following Communion: “Communion can be taken under both kinds: first the bread and then the wine. You must get the Sacred Host from me and then dip into the chalice, which the deacon holds. "
"I was speechless," said Ledda. A lot of people are present, it is a coming and going, beginning with the priest to the deacon, then with the host in the hand from one place to another. “Which was immersed in the blood of Christ's bleeding body, drops of His blood trickling down. One holds his hand under it, which he then wipes his trousers, others go with the immersed wafer back to her place, and take it there after first seating themselves. The drops fall on the way to the floor. "
Readers have confirmed the report by PapalePapale of the "Eucharistic Self Service" from personal experience.
The rector of the seminary, Don Roberto Filippini is one of the 63 signatories of the "Letter to the Christians", the Italian version of the priest-rebels. Likewise, the former chaplain of the seminary, Don Severino Dianich.
The militant Jewish convert and Catholic priest Ariel Levi di Gualdo reported the seminary of Pisa on PapalePapale: "Over the past two years, several former seminarians, good guys, turned to me asking if I could recommend you a Catholic seminary. They had been forced to leave this modernist-philoprotestantische nest because they were guilty of being Catholic. In the present state of things, we can say that  Pisa is no seminary, but a chicken ranch, in which the bad  priests are made by bad teachers and all that under the pale shadow of the archbishop, whose weakness has long been known.  What are these seminarians, with an underdeveloped or immature understanding value of the sacred  tomorrow as a priest? Nothing. "
Levi di Gualdo recalls the ecclesiastical rules which categorically forbid  that the believer takes to himself the Lord's body and the chalice of the blood of Christ, that  it was forbidden  to believers and that passing the body of Christ and the Chalice, is strictly prohibited and  that a believer may take the consecrated Host himself immersing it in the blood of Christ or the blood-soaked body of Christ is also prohibited: No. 160 of the General Regulations for Roman Missal, No. 9 of the instruction Donum Inaestimabile the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments and the No. 94 and No. 104 of the Instruction Redemptionis Sacramentum same Congregation, to name just the most recent documents.

Würzburg Vicar Hw. Thomas Eschenbacher and Protestant functionary Kirsten Oldenburg Jointly Organize an Ecumenical Sideshow

New liturgical element: "ecumenical" dialogue
sermon in rhyme; Picture: Press Office Diocese of Würzburg / Mohr
Once there had been a happy hour in the land, as on the 17th of January 2013 of the first Carnival Society of Elferrat Würzburg publicly held this years church conference in Neumuensterkirche.

"In the thick of things" is the Würzburg Cathedral Vicar with the Protestant official, who -- as explained in preparation -- had decided on the somewhat looser form of Liturgy of the Word,  probably in order not to completely ignore the liturgical progress of the Church.

"Vanishing Justice" of the Preaching Dialog

A modern, zeigeisty innovation, perhaps even according to the invocation of the "sprit of Vatican II" Fr. Eschenbacher put the liturgical elements of the preaching dialog in rhyme:  "... that only talking's not enough, where justice takes a puff" was clearly the dialogs choice piece.

It had been a balancing act, said the Cathedral Vicar.  "I can also understand, that not everyone found it enjoyable."  But: "everything took place with dignity."

Joy of the Instructor of Pastoral Theology

A Pastoral Theologian was also completely overjoyed (a kind of miracle in the Post-Conciliar Church): "Carnival belongs to the life of the people just as to the Church.  I think the connection between them both is very exciting."

In the Diocese of Wurzburg the main goal of the Pastoral Theologian, "the consequent search for the outline of our vocation in the transform of the structures in the Diocese and with thus connected pastoral tasks and focal points.

Exit of the Fool

At the end the fool was applauded to the church door -- and in the midst of it all the Cathedral Rector.
