Sufi Dancers in the Church

Edit: the abomination of desolation. This report comes from the German District of the SSPX.

Incomprehensible but completely in the spirit of the Council, which is stated in the Constitution “Nostra Aetate”:

The Church regards with esteem also the Moslems. They adore the one God, living and subsisting in Himself; merciful and all- powerful, the Creator of heaven and earth,(5) who has spoken to men

We learn how this “adoration” appears in practice from the Augustinian Church in Würzburg. There the Islamic Sufis dance at the beginning of Lent!

The Augustinian Church looks like a museum or a gathering hall after its renovation, than a Church. But as the “Dance of the Sufis” takes place, its formal desecration a church is complete.

Why the Bishop of Würzburg is also “silent” here remains a mystery.

In the announcement on the homepage is is described as an “Ensemble for Islamic Music”:

In the context of the 12th Würzburg Lenten Courses in the Augustinian Church, there will be traditional Islamic Dervishes dancing on Saturday (7:30). The course of the evening will be in the hands of Seref Dalyanoglu, who is also the representative for the Dervishes and other musicians of the Ensemble for Islamic Music.

Worse still is a participant's obituary of the event. It had not only been a dance, “but much more a special form of prayer to God by the Sufis”.

Immaculate Conception Parish in Chicago- Holy Week Yoga and Zumba

Above: Roadside sign announcing Yoga and Zumba and pointing to the church.

Above: Immaculate Conception Parish weekly schedule announcing Yoga, Zumba, and Ecumenical Way of the Cross during Holy Week.

Immaculate Conception Parish located at 7211 W. Talcott Ave. in Chicago, IL is offering Yoga and Zumba classes during Holy Week.

A roadside sign outside of the parish announces Yoga and Zumba classes this upcoming week (Holy Week!) Page 8 of the bulletin of the parish (http://icparish.net/bulletins/040112.pdf) and the parish calendar (http://www.mychurchevents.com/calendar/calendar.aspx?ci=G1H2I3I3K5K5O9L6I3) announce these events as well.

Fr. John Hardon, S.J. wrote an excellent article about why Yoga is incompatible with the Catholic faith: http://www.catholiceducation.org/articles/religion/re0275.html

Oh and Zumba? Well here it is on youtube in case you have never heard: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vf0q6qtThF4 Appropriate exercises to hold at a Catholic parish?

Even if it could be argued (it can't) that these are appropriate exercise activities for Catholics to be participating in....aren't there better things to announce on a roadside sign outside of a Catholic Church during Holy Week?

Liverpool Bishop's Ad Limina Visit Might be Interesting

An ad limina visit (Bishops are required to visit the Pope every 5 years) is coming off here pretty soon for UK Bishops and there's some complaining about their performance, something about not doing their jobs. Archbishop Kelly sure has an ugly Cathedral. They paid money for that. Ok, we know that Liverpool has an ugly Cathedral that's really not something you'd expect a church to be. The locals call it the Wigwam. The Clergy is as ugly as the Cathedral and they routinely beat up local priests and laity who ask for the Traditional Latin Mass and Sacraments. If you want the Catholic Faith, forget it, you should pack up your bags and head for Brompton. Damian Thompson's article on the subject is awesome and we hope that someone Romeside reads the despairing testimony from one of Damian's commenters:

That’s an irony, isn’t it? There was a time when traditional Catholic priests were unwelcome in Protestant areas of Liverpool. Now they’re treated like pariahs by their priestly colleagues, who screamed blue murder when there was a proposal to found one – just one – community celebrating the old liturgy. So it didn’t happen.
